"A Fading Nation" Civil War, need assistance.

Coln

Izar Monlo's militia is large, many of them having no residence and being able to cross the border after the first attack made. They are large in number and have very good leadership but lack in overall combat skill. The militia acts uses guerilla fighting to get things done. They are determind to take the nation and are succeding. They have overun the capital city and eight districts around it, hoping to fan out like a circle into the entire nation. They also have kidnapped the Secratary of Defense, wich has set back the progress of the ARCM (Armed Republic of Coln Military).
The nation is failing, already laws are being put into effect. The ARCM is almost back into order (the flow of the military was interupted due to the kidnapping of the Sec of Def.) The economy is falling and will soon hit rock bottom. Assasination attemps are being made on PM Neil Hanna's life as well as other the Priority One council members. The nation is dying...

[TRANSMISSION #178827266A73][SIGNAL STRENGTH: POOR]
The Prime Ministers voice crackles to life over in the reciver...

"This is Prime Minister Hanna to command grid Charlie-Yankee-Two-two, how do you hear, over?.........Charlie-Yankee-Two-Two come in, over......Charlie-Yankee-two-two respond, over!" PM Hanna said, hoping for somekind of response.
"This is Charlie-Yankee-Two-Two Sargent Tim Tiel, we are under enemy fire in location Romeo-Lima-fshhhh-Six. I have wounded men, maybe about fifteen I'm not sure"...the echos of a fire-fight are heard behind his voice...The militia is depleting however! We seem to be coming back ontop...a voice is heard in the background, "Sir! You better come take a look at this! They sent vehicles for us! We're getting out of here! Man, I'm glad I paid my taxes.". The Sargent asked the Prime Minister, "Sir? Did you Kfshffsff vehicles?"
"Say again Sargent." He replied.
"Did you send us vehicles?"
The Prime Minister thought, "Not to my knowledge, maybe-"A large 'clank' is heard in the background. Sounding like a turret of a tank stopping its leathal rotating aim.
"Oh my word." by the sound, you can tell that the receiver hit the ground. There was a series of frightened screams of panic for two seconds and the line wnet dead. Just an erie fuzz.
The Prime Minister slammed the reciever down in its cradle. He pounded the fold-up table and the receiver and a dozen papers onto the floor, "Sam! Notify the world! I'm not going to let this happen! This has gon on long enough, t h i s w i l l e n d..."

You recieve an telegram marked "Urgent! Please read immediatly!" It reads,

Dear foreign leader,
The nation of Coln sends out this message in hope of aid, in search of hope. As you know the nation has been overrun by a dictatorship. We have been trying to gain control, but have failed drastically. We have sent this out hoping that the world will respond, find it somewhere inside themselfs to aid in the fight to restore peace and order among this divided nation. I am forced to make this short as all hands are needed to stay afloat. But please send an immediate response if you will aid in this crisis.

The Prime Minister "awoke" from his thirty minute "rest" on the bumpy ride into the Kape` mountains on Coln's eastern border. He has been taken there with a convoy of equipment ranging from food to communications and to weopons, the whole porpose is to remain in hiding. Hanna didn't want to hide, he wanted to fight alongside his people but he knew that they needed him alive. PM Neil Hanna wore a flak-jacket over a green T-shirt and wore jeans and tennis shoes. The morning hours peaked as they began to set up equipment in a secure bunker located in the mountain. Occaisional explosions would be in the distance. The whole time was heart wrenching as the Prime Minister waited for mor responses. Like that of Rotvia, just a response to know that people do care.

Dear War Ravaged Country,

Might I suggest that you ask for help from the Economic International Police? They are ready and willing to help any nation in need. Thank You.
Jenrak
13-09-2005, 03:20
As such Jenrak is already helping another nation in need in a civil war of their own, we will be able to send over two types of aid. One will be non-member aid, and EiP aid.

Economic aid will be substantially more, drawing upon the organization's increased productivity to aid, but then in return the nation must allow Jenrakian troops (or any EiP member troops) to 'police' the nation, as such like a way of maintaining order.

Non-member aid will be less, but we will not expect anything from you.

Dear Coln,

We have assessed your tactical situation, and we have decided it is truly dire. So, we shall give you our 3rd Infantry, 1st Marine, our 2nd fleet, and fourty-five million dollars in military aid. We can also send our 8th, 12th, 14th and 18th Infantry Divisions, 1st and 2nd Amored, and 23rd Airborne if needs be. I can also send to you the 1st Special Operations Group in three hours or less. Once the army arrives on your land, you are in command of them, though my direct orders shall supercede any others.

Operation: Night Terror is our plan to bomb Rebel Controlled territory using our experimental Ajax Assault Bomber against the entire south, with nonstp sorties being flown for the duration of the conflict. The Marines will land at their northern Salient, which will serve as the H.A. Jump Point. Our special forces will destroy their lines of communication, and gradually we will tear into them. This would buy your security forces the time needed to regroup. The island will be cut off with the help of allied navies, which will also be helping you in your struggle. I assure you that the youth of Haughey are ready for battle.

In conclusion, I a sending you 125,000 troops, 450 tanks of the highest quality, 213 helicopters, and an abundance of further aid. May our resources provide you with victory. However, do not throw these lives away; they represent one third of our standing army, though I could call double up in the draft.

No offense, but that is a fairly large number for such a small nation. That'd come to a large portion of your ENTIRE military.

Military service is required, not an option. In fact, by pure numbers, the military is the largest employer in my land. Also, let us not forget; a nation, on average, can call up ten percent of it's military during times of war. That'd be 600,000. Mine is more, as it is required to serve in the military. This goes for both sexes ages 18-45.

“Right. Got it. Thanks, George,” President Warner said before hanging up and turning back to the assembled Joint Chiefs of Staff. “Gentleman, that was the Secretary of State; he and SecDef have been working the lines all day. According to the Alliance, under the provisions of the IADF treaty, we can legally intervene, though we'll probably be carrying the Alliance banner alone, what with the current goings on of the world,” he gently rested his chin in right hand, “so, gentlemen, what shall we be doing?”

“On the basis of preliminary reports from satellite and unmanned aerial recon, as well as what human intelligence we've been able to gather, we're dealing with a largely irregular force that has, thus far, succeeded in demolishing Colnese organized resistance in the southern and western regions of the country and has succeeded in taking the nation's capital,” General Brent Tyrol, the Air Force Chief of Staff, recited from his prepared notes.

“Makes me wonder if it's worth saving their asses,” the President's tone was wry and, to a frighteningly large extent, serious. “Which brings us back to the issue at hand: how many troops are you going to need and how, precisely, are you going to use them?”

“The Navy intends to force a landing in the southwest of the country of some three Marine divisions, from the Third, Eighth, and Ninth Amphibious Assault Forces and backed up by the whole of the Third Fleet,” Admiral Donovan relayed, before turning to his Army colleague, General Nakamori.

“Simultaneously, the Army will simultaneously seize several abandoned military facilities in the southeastern part of the country; two airborne mobile infantry divisions will make the seizure and, in conjunction with airborne engineers, rehabilitate the facilities accept the deployment of an addition five divisions, of two mechanized armor divisions and three mechanized infantry divisions,” Nakamori continued, “after which, the Army and the Marines will advance forward and converge on the capital in a pincer movement; after the capital is liberated and the government restored, we commence conventional and counterinsurgency operations against enemy positions and hotbeds, as is required.”

“Ten divisions, several hundred thousand men, hundreds of naval vessels, and the several thousand aircraft that will be required to both secure air supremacy and transport the aforementioned forces,” Warner shook his head, “ambitious, to say the least.”

“We thought so,” Donovan smiled somewhat wryly, “though it's going to take him to move the requisite assets, so the sooner we get the ball rolling, the sooner help arrives in Coln.”

The President furrowed his brow, giving the proposal at hand serious thought. But it was only for a moment. “All right,” Warner's tone resounded with resolve, “let's get this show on the road.”

*=*=*=*=*=*=*

And the orders went out to bases across the country. Leave was canceled; reservists called to active duty; logistics trains assembled; and men and vehicles began packing into aircraft. The Third Fleet, and her Amphibious Assault Force charges, assembled and set sail for Colnese waters. Air Force target lists were drawn up and prioritized. And the advanced elements of the 93rd and 94th Mobile Infantry Divisions were readied for insertion into the southeast of the country to prepare the way for the rest of their divisions and reclaim airstrips in preparation for the second wave of heavier forces and equipment.

To: Prime Minister Neil Hanna
From: President Winston Warner
Subject: Civil War and IADF

In light of the situation that besieges your government, the Remarkably Sane Dominion of Juumanistra has invoked Article 6 of the IADF Charter and, in due course of this invocation, pledge support for the government and the provision of men and material to restore the sovereign government of Coln to power. To that end, Juumanistra has assembled a force of two hundred thousand men, several hundred ships, and approximately two-thousand aircraft. Requisite forces to commence a counteroffensive in the southwestern portion of the country have departed Juumanistra and are currently en route to Coln. Furthermore, we are in the process of airlifting forces into the southeastern, government controlled regions of the country and would like to ensure that they shall have both permission to enter and operate out-of territory held by the rightful government of Coln.

The accepted most here is 5% active, no matter if you have cumpolsary service. That'd be 300,000 for you. Don't forget, that number also has to be split between ALL branches, if you have them. So, 125,000 is a little much. Don't like to sound rude, but you've gotta learn eventually, and a lot of guys here don't go too light.

Okay, fine. If that is how this will go down, then okay. I've studied the military of this time and many others, but if we want to stick with five percent, then I'll just have 75,000 troops on my land. 100,000 men serve in the detachment of the Navy and Air Force I'm sending to Vizion, if their president approves, and to help this dire situation. However, if I need a draft, I will call upon many, many more as needed. So, 300,000 today will equal 350,000 tomorrow, then 400,00, so forth. These forces will be split into half: One into The Home Guard, another to the Pre-Emptive Ass Kickers.

My commitment still stands, I will still send 225,000 men(In all branches)

Dracun imperium
14-09-2005, 02:35
Ansem the new Emperor of the Dracun Imperium listened to the report from his second in command, Odin with interest. Most of it was boring stuff however Ansem got the job so he intended to do it right if only for a while. He listened in particular to the case on Coln, “So now many nations are rallying to the call of this poor helpless nation which could fight the war on its own but refuses to and so has asked for the aid of the international community.”

Ansem brought his hand to his chin and leaned on it on his black marble throne. He was tremendously interested in such an international situation. It could prove quite fun to fight a war and gain a new colony however Dracun was still recovering from the war and its fleet had yet to arrive from Praetonian Shipyards, their military was short on power now and although it would be more then enough to defend Dracun to attack and conquer another nation? He highly doubted it but maybe they could begin to plant the seeds?

Ansem stood and walked down the four steps that led to his throne, he walked over to the infamous window where he had watched his city go up in flames as they fought to take it over from the former Emperor, Ohminvara. In the end Ansem had came out victorious and his Order a organization who’s purpose remains a mystery became the most powerful organization in Dracun.

He stroked his forehead over the scar he had gained from the duel with Ohminvara. He stood there for a while before speaking, “We are in no shape to fight a war are we Omin?” He didn’t stop it was obvious it was a rhetorical question, “No, we are not so the only means for us to gain something from this is to plant the seeds for the future to come. Send a massive aid package to the rebellion numbering at fifty billion. See what they can do with it.”

Odin bowed before the Emperor, not questioning him. Odin was in fact happy with the outcome a war would be to costly to Dracun and the Order. The Order and its members served the Order first, Dracun second but if it came to war he was sure Ansem would make it work to their advantage he always did that was why he was top dog in the constant game of deception and murder that was the Order’s high command. Odin’s boots hit the floor softly but they still made noise in the almost empty throne room when he was gone Ansem smiled, “Yes this will be quite fun.”

The peoples of Quere offer our help. Our numbers are small, and we wish to keep them secret, but our nation, being a terroist nation and useful in guerrila tactics shall help you if the time shall come. We ourselves are coming out of trouble, having recently pulled away from the country of Khur, and the leader is yet to be given power. We will defend you in noticable ways. All right. That's nearly your whole military, but that's your call.
True, but I'm banking on the hope that no one attacks me. Plus, I do get 50,000 more troops daily, multiple divisions. And with Arms Manufacturing being a primary industry of mine, it allows me to arm and train them quickly. 50,000 men a day wil, quickly, become quite dangerous. I've already mapped out troop numbers and deployments all the way through mid-October.

My forces have embarked, but will wait fro Coln's approval.
Triancia
16-09-2005, 21:03
These morning briefings were always the hardest on the President's staff. No one thought clearly at seven in the morning, but, despite fervent wishing, world events didn't stop when the Triancian Executive hit the rack.

"All right, gentleman." The President entered the room, looking haggard, but functional. "I hear interesting things are happening in the world today. That's never good."

"Well, more wars are never good, sir." The Secretary of State intoned. "And a war is what has us occupied at the moment." He looked down at his notes. "From what we can gather from the diplomatic community, the nation of..." A few flip through pages. "Coln has a bit of a rebellion on her hands. An in-country insurgency has apparently taken over around half of the country, and are running attacks on Government military facilities in the unoccupied half. The Prime Minister, a Neil Hanna, has asked the world for aid."

President Stanton shrugged. "Okay, fine. Humanitarian supplies, Monetary aid after the war, and setting up another special refugee visa program. Set up a press release to put all this up, and to firmly state that we, militarily, consider this a Colnian problem, and won't deploy a significant military force. What's next on the agenda?"

SecState Garner coughed a bit. "Sir, it may have been that simple at the start, but no longer. The nation of Juumanistra has deployed troops to the area, by invoking Article Six of the IADF Charter."

The President paused, and regarded Garner with incredulity. "I'm sorry. What? The IADF? But that damn organization has been idle for months! Hell, didn't you recall Forest to serve on your staff?"

The SecState nodded. "Yes, sir."

The President sighed. "And now, we, formerly elected into a leadership position in that organization, are now without a delegate, and have an IADF-sanctioned war starting without information?"

Garner nodded again, a bit more guiltily this time. "Yes, sir."

The President waved a hand dismissively. "Not mad at you, Tim. Mad at the situation." He quickly turned to his Secretary of Defense. "Bob, please, PLEASE tell me we have something in the area that can assist, so we don't look like we've been caught TOTALLY by surprise?"

Secretary Wernick gave one of the grim smiles he was known for, and nodded. "As a matter of fact, sir, we do. Not a large force like Juumanistra seems to be deploying, but at least large enough to show the Triancian flag." He consulted his own notes. "1st and 3rd CBF's can be there in a day, and the 38th and 45th RTMEs can get their in two. We can start insertion by helicopter in a day and a half." He looked up. "That's forty thousand well-equipped leg infantry, a bit of armor, and a hell of a lot of naval firepower brought to bear."

The President nodded. "Okay. Bob, get your counterpart on the phone in Juumanistra, and ask him for his war plans. Tell him we wish to coordinate our efforts to liberate this nation." He turns to Garner. "Tim, find me a delegate, a good one. We need to replace Forest, and I don't want to insult this alliance by sending anyone less qualified." The President stood up. "And someone better call a press conference."

PRESS RELEASE
Off. of the Presidency, Federal Kingdom of Triancia

Upon looking at the plight of the people in Coln, and there sufferings at the hands of an insurgency that does not follow the laws of armed conflict, Triancia stands with it allies in the IADF, and will deploy forces to the region. We will make every effort to insure this is a multilateral mission between us and all other IADF member-states. While I regret putting Triancian Troops in harm's way, I know that we are committed to a noble cause, and will bring peace and stability to that troubled land.

On Behalf of the People of Triancia,

Triancia is now committed to deploying a sizable force into Coln. I'm sure you'll agree with me that we don't want our troops shooting at each other because our right hand isn't talking to your left. While we will stop short on accepting Juumanistra as the lead nation in this effort, I would ask for you and your government's advice on where we should deploy our troops from the 38th and 45th RTMEs.

Ansem,

It started slowly. A battalion of the 94th Mobile Infantry Division's engineering brigade and the 3rd Mobile Infantry Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 93rd Mobile Infantry, inserted in the dead of night, with light air cover provided by the still distant Ninth Expeditionary Fleet. Their mission was the securing of three key airfields in the southeast of Coln; they had been warned that they would find the bases in disrepair and part of their objective was to secure them and start their rehabilitation facilitate them for use in the upcoming Operation Iron Thunder. What they found, however, was much worse than they had anticipated. Hangers torched, runways pocked with holes from mortars or worse, pieces of aircraft everywhere; it appeared the government of Coln had made a stand here, though it was nowhere to be found now.

And so, upon identifying the fields and securing them, the signal went up for the airlift to begin. The first round of reinforcements were helilifted in from the Ninth Expeditionary Fleet; mainly more engineers and their gear, to commence the first round of rehabilitation; afterwards came the first combat troops, to secure the perimeter; after that, JUMWWVs and the heavier infantry elements, to fully reinforce the existing defensive setup that was established. Whilst there was minimal fears of actual attack, given that they were technically in government controlled territory, the Army was still taking the threat with all due seriousness.

As reinforcements arrived by air, the engineers set about clearing and patching the tarmacs; after that lay the additional burden of extending the runways to support the delivery of the bulk of the equipment that would be used by the coming mechanized divisions. Priority was given to clearing at least two runways; a task that was undertaken with gusto. Following their herculean undertaking, their numbers swelled, as priority was given to shipping in their counterparts in the five mechanized armor and infantry divisions slated to come in.

And so the tarmacs were cleared; the runways extended through JURCM; and the build-up commenced. The whole of the 93rd and 94th Divisions were delivered and took up the the defense of the triangle of facilities. The Air Force's own engineers joined in the quick refurbishing and expanding of numerous structures, to the point where the 21st Air Strike Corps composed of hundreds of aircraft, primarily No-27s, No-34s, and Ni-31s and the 974th Logistics Wing of AEWACS, HAEWACS, EW, and tanker aircraft could relocate to the three bases to facilitate proximity in the conflict.

All the while, the Ninth Expeditionary Fleet detached to join the assembling Juumanistran fleet in the country's western waters. And, as the Juumanistran combined fleet readied for its own part of the plan, the Juumanistran heavy airlift of heavy vehicles and men commenced in the southeast...

*=*=*=*=*

To call the combined Juumanistran fleet a fleet was to do it a great injustice. Consisting of well over a thousand vessels culled from Juumanistra's Juumas Gulf and Grand Banks commands, the force was probably overkill for the task it was required for. But, given that Juumanistra was the first to pledge significant manpower, the Department of the Navy had felt that it was required to send a force capable of gaining control of all waterways and maintain them against significant enemy resistance, on the off-chance another power intervened on behalf of the insurgents.

The fleets had come together to commence the landings. The Marines themselves were ready; they had commenced loading operations of amphibious assault craft and their helicopters, whilst the combined fleet's carriers' flight decks buzzed as aircraft prepared to sortie. All they waited for was word to commence Operation Iron Thunder.

*=*=*=*=*

“Mr. Presdient,” said the Secretary of Defense as he he hung up the phone, “Admiral Sexton reports that the combined fleet is in position and that Lieutenant General Colt reports all Marine elements are go for Operation Iron Thunder. Major General Hayes reported similar status for the Air Force contingent twenty minutes ago.”

President Winston Warner sat ensconced in the War Room, deep inside Guffingford Manor. He had been there for hours, as the final preparations for his country's biggest military operation in a decade were executed. Now it was crunch time. Sending his nation's young men into harm's way was not a decision he wanted to make. But he was treaty bound and Juumanistra was integral to the IADF's planned intervention. The success or failure of the restoration of Coln depended on Juumanistran Marines wading ashore. In the end, he reassured himself, he had no real choice; either invade now or invade later.

He chose now.

*=*=*=*=*

And so it began. Word was quickly disseminated to all the essential players; the Marine assault on the southwestern beaches began in short order by both sea and air; naval aircraft launched to secure air security and commence strikes; naval artillery and missile bombardment of both the landing zone and key enemy-held infrastructure commenced; the 21st Corp commenced offensive operations; the whole of the 974th deployed to support the massive influx of aircraft. At the same time, the airlift of five whole divisions of mechanized infantry and armor units continued a pace, with a few brigades already having reached full strength and the whole of the second pincer to be at full strength soon enough.

Word was also sent out to the rest of the Alliance; the Juumanistran assault was commencing. Action by Triancia and West Pacific was expected. What the Pschyotic Pschyos battlegroups would do was a wild card, though their support had been taken into consideration in the formulation of the battleplan. Word was also sent to what remnants of the Colnese regular army would hear it; the cavalry had arrived.

Triancia
21-09-2005, 04:32
One would be tempted to look upon the Juumanistrian forces, and wonder why Triancia had even decided to deploy troops to this area. God knows their were enough people in Triancia thinking that to make this operation slightly controversial. Why send Triancian boys, and Triancian girls to die in some rebel-infested hell-hole when an ally could do all the work?

Yes, such an ally could do all the work. Triancia could remain safely at home, in their own little country. Relaying on others to liberate lands. Relay on others to bring peace and justice to troubled nations. Relay on other's for Triancia's defense.

Relay on others to lead.

In the end, that's what it came down to. Triancia was leader of some, and equal to many. But it would not be known for taking the easy way out, and having an equal take the blows while Triancia remained safe. It would be known as a nation that would die with it's comrades-in-arms across the waves, for the cause of liberty.
---------

When motives are put to the side, however, you had to have statistics, or you had nothing. And the statistics read as follows:

An hour after Juumanistra began it's operations, Triancia north of their position, picking a coastal area where the enemy had set a 'line' of sort, where there territory peninsuled. The 38th and 45th Royal Marine Expeditionaries, under command of Major General Martin Costale, hit the beaches in two areas, both directly, and indirectly with vertical envelopment launched from amphibious ships. Members of the Naval Special Service were inserted behind enemy lines, watching the main roads for an enemy mechanized counter attack. All of this was done under the watchful eye of the 1st and 3rd CBF's airwings, who patrolled the sky for anything that dared threaten the beachhead.

Slower, more powerful forces were being put into motion, too. The 2nd Airborne took off from their bases in Triancia, and a large fleet of merchant ships, impressed into service, headed towards Coln under escort. Their destination was mutual: A port town near the Marine LZ, with the port facilities necessary to offload the heavy equipment of two Triancian ACRs.
----------
All of this paled in comparison to the Juumanistrian strike. History would probably remember the operation as a diversionary strike, to keep the enemy occupied on two fronts. The Triancians would see it differently.

President Fej was a busy man this evening in Alderast. It was only a short while that he had authorized the activation of the Black Force within the boundaries of Farmina to discover the real situation in that country when Gen Franco was back on the phone with him dicussing the open request for assitance by the rightful government of Coln.

I really should try to spread these international incidents out a bit more... but helping another democratic nation in need is always good for the polls and my buddies down in Congress could badly use a popularity boost ahead of the elections...

"Such a loyal nation must be protected... I assume that we have the reserves to support a full scale offensive operation to take back some of the territory in the south of the country?"

"Yes Mr. President, we do, but there is the matter of a certain IADF alliance that has already mobilized in the region. I feel that a large military ground force will be unnecessary as they can most likely be trusted to guarentee the country's soverignty. Perhaps now would be a good time to give the Rangers a chance to test their equipment in combat?"

"Do whatever you feel is best Franco, just ensure that they get there soon so that they actually make an impact. Might I suggest mobilizing elements of the Rapid Terrorism Response Force instead? They'll be ready at a moments notice and they are specially trained to deal with the guerrilla tactics that this rebellion is no doubt using..."

"I'll see that it is done sir. In fact I believe that the 4th and 5th divisions of the RTRF are currently deployed near Coln's shoreline in international waters doing training maneuvers. I'll just redirect them to assist once we get full authorization from their Prime Minister."

"Very good Gen Franco... I think that'll be enough for one evening if you know what I mean. Just see to it that Coln's rightful democratic government is returned to power and if you don't mind I'm going to go back to sleep, I'm sure my wife is wondering where I've disappeared to by now. Try to keep any further interruptions at a minimum if you can, I'll trust your judgement until the morning."

"Of course Mr. President, of course."

With that Gen Franco went to send out a message to Coln's Prime Minister and to alert the 4th and 5th division of the RTRF to their new orders...

"Mr. President." Said General Bednarik of the Joint Chiefs. "It has begun, Juumanistran forces have launched an attack on the rebel forces in Coln, before we launch our attack the Joint Chiefs and I recommend one change. Instead of Army Special Forces teams we suggest sending in an Air Force Special Forces team, they are trained in airstrip take over and preparing them for use by our boys, if anyone can do it, they can." The President thought this over for a minute, "You boys feel this is for the best?" "Absolutely, Mr. President." "Ok, do it."

Several hours later Major Jacobs and three other Air Force Special Forces teams prepared to exit from two Air Force C-130's, in total 60 men would be dropping out of the two planes, their planned landing was about 1/3 of a mile southwest of the two air strips, they would then go over the final details of their planned assaults on the air strips. Intelligence said that the militia was poorly armed but well motivated, armor was non-existent in the area, the militia did not have any artillery or aircraft, they are believed to have automatic weapons, grenades, RPG's and possibly mortars. "Ten minutes!" came the call over his headset, Major Jacobs gave the signal for his men to stand up. "Five Minutes!" Jacobs had his men start moving towards back of the plane. With one minute left the the lights in the aircraft turned red, 30 seconds before their scheduled drop mark the ramp at the back of the craft started to open, when the red lights changed to green the men quickly exited the airplane.

After landing, Major Jacobs consulted with the other officers, they all agreed that it would be best to assault the two airstrips in two groups. One man's shoot had failed to deploy, his family would be told he died serving his country but details would be witheld for the time being. After talking for about 5 minutes the plan was settled. The special forces teams would use silenced weapons and take out the air traffic control tower in hopes that they could sneak the first C-130's down and on the ground before before any of the militia in the area would know what was going on. Speed was critical, the first C-130's were less than two hours away and would be landing in hostile territory. The soldiers set out on the short walk to the airport and what would be West Pacific's first hostile action overseas since they had attacked the Al-Shi'ke Movement in Xaniqall. (OOC: Something which was abruptly ended when NS switched to Jolt) Major Jacobs and his force would ended 50 years of isolationist policies in West Pacific, hopefully they would be successful.
Juumanistra

Hoorah!

The sound echoed across the five mile stretch of nondescript beach that had become the Juumanistran beach head. An almost surreal enthusiasm permeated the whole Marine landing; this was the Corps first deployment since its creation and it was quite doozy at that. They were eager to prove that they were equal to Army and earn the Corps its place amongst Juumanistra's finest. And they were off to a fine start; they'd managed to secure the landing zone and commence the massive unloading operation with all due haste and efficiency and dealt with the local resistance without the loss of a single man(though it will be for some time a matter of contention as to whether several dozen scattered, shell-shocked drunkards with Kalashnikovs and RPGs constituted resistance).

Soon, the cheers of the Marines was droned out by sound of engines as the heavier units were landed. The biodiesel turbines that inhabited the R-1s, J2000s, and JBT-31A2s grumbled and groaned as they were offloaded from their LCACs and onto the gritty sands of the beachhead; in due time, they were joined by the softer groans of the JCV-3 and J117 APCs and IFVs that would be integral in their push inland and the Wankel-engined JUMWWVs and trucks that would provide them with their food and fuel. Soon enough, the beachhead was too small to fully digest all the men and material being shipped ashore and Marine battalions were sent inland to secure a wider area to fully form up the landing units and commence offensive operations. The push fell to 1st Brigade, 3rd Marines; of its three battalions, two would disperse themselves into their regimental components, with seven of the eight regiments pushing eastward to broaden the beachhead with the eighth, 4th Regiment, 2nd Marine Infantry, 1st Brigade joining the 2nd Brigade as it pushed southward to secure the western terminus of Route 1, the main road to the capital. The remaining battalion, 1st Marine Armor, 1st Brigade, would push north and link up with Triancian airborne elements and provide heavy fire support to their efforts to seize the northern port.

And so the offensive got underway; once the western terminus was secured, the three unloading divisions would move in-force down Route 1 towards the capital and go for the rebel's jugular; a sort of armored coup d'etat to restore the sovereign government of Coln. It was hoped that that would be enough and the second force mobilizing in the east would not be required.

But, given the course of war, that seemed rather unlikely.

*=*=*=*=*

The skies above southwestern Coln were manic as Operation Iron Thunder got underway. Naval artillery pounded the coastal areas, with missile strikes slamming both the immediate vicinity of the landing area and deeper in-land, to the capital itself. Naval Ne-41s and Ni-27s, in conjunction with Air Force No-34s and Ni-31s, buzzed the skies on strike sorties; government facilities, power stations, bridges, and telecommunications infrastructure were their primary targets, though occasional military targets of opportunity presented themselves. And then there were the rumbling No-27 Rancors, loitering above the landing zone, as well as the western terminus of Route 1 and its urban environs and towards the north in the Triancian area of operations. And all that was just the Juumanistran contribution; Triancian and West Pacifican aircraft, both on combat and transport duty, made the situation all the more confusing; were it not for the presence of 974th Logistics Wing and its extensive detection, tracking, and identification capabilities, something might go catastrophically wrong, given the number of aircraft and type of aircraft all flying in the same relatively tight piece of airspace.

*=*=*=*=*

In the east, things were even more hectic, though they felt far more structured. The massive airlift of men and material quickened in pace as the offensive got underway. At this point, there was a take-off or landing every six minutes; whilst not quite as efficient as the U.S. was in Berlin, it was quite the sight given what little the Air Force had had to work with. In a few days, the runway extensions would grind themselves to dust from this incredible load; but that was, after all, what they were meant to do. Juumanistra had, in the interval between the Basque Spaniard mission, invested billions in development of things like a modern version of Patterson matting to facilitate just this, as part of its Total Force Mobility concept. And the ability to move seven divisions in the space of a week was proof that it was a sound investment.

As the Marine offensive commenced, five divisions in the east stood ready; the 93rd and 94th MobInf, which had been supervising the situation since airlifting operations commenced, along with 25th and 37th Mechanized Armor Divisions, as well as the 62nd Mechanized Infantry Division. It was now that the field commanders, under General Bradford Tierney, were embarking on a radical decision. The build-up had never sat particularly well with the 17th and 29th Corps, who comprised the forces currently on the ground in the southeast; whilst they would only be a few days behind the Marines, it was thought by many of the rank-and-file junior and mid-level officers that the higher ups at the Department of Defense were being excessively cautious and what benefits there were to the pincer would be lost due to the serial, rather than simultaneous, way it was being used. Much of Tierney's command agreed and so did Tierney himself. So, when word came that Operation Iron Thunder was commencing, Tierney saw an opening he would be foolish not to exploit. Or so he told himself, for if and when a court martial came abut.

Tierney ordered the formation of a new expeditionary force, under the new name of the Army of the Delta, after the three bases that constituted Juumanistra's base of operations. It consisted of a downsized 17th and 29th Corps and contained the 93rd and 94th MobInf, as well the 25th and 37th MechArm. The Army of the Delta would advance westwards on Route 4 towards the capital, to make the smashing a true two-pronged offensive; the Army of the Delta planned to strengthen both the containment and smashing of rebel forces between the two prongs of the attack, as well as achieve tactical surprise in the eastern theatre in a way that the original plan for Operation Iron Thunder did not. Above all, it was the type of gamble that could yield major rewards or, if executed wrongly, major losses. But the risk to the Army's base of operations was felt to be minimal; the 62nd Mechanized Infantry was present, as were two additional mechanized infantry brigades and several more battalions, with more and more continuously flying in, as well as the fact that the IADF reigned supreme in the skies above Coln.

And so, at Tierney's behest, the Army commenced its invasion of eastern enemy-held Coln. And the twin steamrollers began to move towards each other, with the Army of the Delta approaching from the east and the Marines securing the road and their approach from the west. And, from there, they would attempt to run over all that got in their way, up until they reached the rebel-held capital of Coln.

Major Jacobs' small force was able to quickly and quietly subdue the men guarding the control towers of the two airstrips. Snipers set up in the towers, if anyone came near the tower the snipers would drop them quickly before they could alert the rest of the men presumed to be in the hangars and barracks of the airstips. "Blue flight, this is scarecrow, do you read?" Major Jacobs waited for a reply. "Affirmative scarecrow, blue flight is 15 minutes out and preparing to land." "Blue flight, you will be landing in a hot LZ, I repeat a hot LZ, parts of base are still under control of hostiles, be prepared to turn around and take off immediately." "Roger that scarecrow, we will unload the payload and take off at the first possible opportunity."

15 minutes later the first of the C-130's started to land, rebel forces came out of the hangars and barracks, unaware of what was going on the men were rapidly cut down by fire from the special forces snipers. Men from the first C-130's quickly surrounded hangars and barracks, laying siege to the men inside who still did not know what was going on. In less than 45 minutes all 14 C-130's had landed and the men and equipment on board disembarked before taking off again and heading for home.

An hour later both airbases were secured and the troops were busy preparing the airstrips for round the clock use by Air Force C-130's. The light armor that came was dropped off was vital is securing the region, the rebels had nothing that could penetrate their armor and were immediately driven back. Al though none was requested, the troops on the ground were told by their commanders that air support could be called in if needed.

Thus far, we have no clue as what, precisely, the Colnese insurgents have as far as manpower and munitions goes because Coln has yet to provide us with them. The only clues we have are that the insurgents are called a "militia"(Coln's first post) and that they have access to at least one tank(again, first post). OOC: West Pacific, RPing the fact that you took down an ENTIRE military base without the owner's having a chance to RP your oppossition IS in fact godmodding. If you're going to do it right, then there will be some going back between YOU and COLN (RPing rebels).

There is no "owner" on NS for that base, the "owner" is a rebel group in the Republic of Coln and I am not going to make Coln RP the defense against six different attacks, especially not when technically he is not being attacked. I will just RP my side of it and throw in the casualties. If you want to RP the resistance fine by me, but I do not think it is Coln's responsibility to RP the rebels defense, when I had a civil war in my nation I did not RP as the rebels, I just RPed my attacks and threw in casulties.

If I have to wait for Coln to respond to my attacks to continue then I will withdraw my attacks because Juumanistra has it covered and I am not going to make Coln respond to seven different attacks.

Because it is in COLN territory, operated by COLN citizens, it is COLN'S property. YOU could get away with it in YOUR civil war because they were YOUR citizens. Now, coln has been off for some time. He may be having RL difficulties. Proper RP etiquette states that you wait for a member to post damages or losses before continuing. Now, if you don't think you can handle this, then go ahead and withdraw your posts and we'll forget all about this. BUT, if you can handle this and are willing to abide by etiquette, then wait for Coln to get back, and modify your posts if HE sees a problem. I'M speaking from a general standpoint, HE may not mind.

[EDIT: DP, yes, there is. You gave the rebles fighters. Secondarily, you posted the losses of the rebel planes. Again, Coln may see now problem, but that is generally unaccepted.]

(OOC: I am uberly apologetic for there has been computer troubles and busy scheduals. This post will be short to catch up with what has been going on.)

Coln's military has begun resistance on the north east end of the occupied territory, also assisting the Juumanstria attacks. Permission has been granted to enter territory. There has not yet been sighting of Militia fighters in the caves, now doubting existance. Militia fighters do have high firepower, about 150 aircraft, and also mechanized armor. a few civilians have also been picking up their arms to protect their country (OOC: is this godmoding? if it is I will delete it).
