Return to Reach [Intro Thread]

Taurus I

OOC: 10 years after the war between the Humans and Covenant ended, military officials and scientists planned on an expedition to Reach, one of the first planets to fall to the Covenant military might. A colony ship, flanked by starcruisers, orbits around the dead planet.

IC:
A marine sergeant made his way down the corridor. He stopped at a window, and looked out at the surface of the planet below. He had been stationed here once, but had been called to earth before the Covenant had revealed themselves. He continued down the corridor of the Halcyon Class Cruiser. He walked into the hanger bay, where more marines were lined up besides Pelicans, each one carrying a Warthog. He climbed into one, and waited for the rest of the marines to get in. The doors closed, and the dropship flew out of the Winter Green's hanger bay. He bounced around a little as the craft went through the atmosphere, then relaxed once the Pelican dropped to the ground. He and the other marines clambered out, and he was startled at the sight before him. What once would have been some trees was now a crater. A field was now a mini wasteland littered with pieces of glass fragments. This expedition promised to be one he wouldn't like.
*2 years later*
The Colony of Taurus I was well into it's second year. Housing buildings littered the area, and marines patrolled the perimiter. With cargo ships bringing in soldiers, people and supplies, the colony was well established. Shipyards and barracks were being built, ensuring that Taurus Colony would be defended against attack. 2 Halcyon Cruisers sent from earth patrolled the space around Taurus I, providing a first line of defence of sorts. The planet of Reach was slowly being resurrected.

OOC: Taurus I, as you can see, uses Halo type-technology, something which seems to be almost nonexsistant in NationStates. The people of Taurus I's colony are Taurisians, defended by a small garrison of 66,060 Marines. A small Space fleet of 4 Halycon Cruisers with their compliments of fighters and pelicans orbit Reach. A small air force of 400 Longswords and their pilots and maintenance crews are stationed on the colony's military base. Cargo Ships bring in people, soldiers, scientists, and supplies, to boost the colony's popluation and military.

OCC: Havn't seen someone try to stick a flag on Reach since I did almost two years ago. But meh I just use an identical system to the Epsilon Eridain system. So when I refer to my own version of Reach I'm not mentioning your own.

IC:
Reach Orbit, Epsilon Erdain
The Earned in Tears was the sister station of the PSN-S Earned in Blood that orbited Earth ((NS Earth)). However this station was far less armed than her sister yet she packed a powerful scanning system just waiting to be used.
"Alright people. Time to play with that new toy that was installed last month," the station commander said from his chair.
All around him eger faces were trying to be repressed to keep the calm atmosphere intact. Several Tech Commanders were sitting just infront of him typing on the recently installed consoles that would bring the scanner net work that spanned from Epsilon Eridain all the way to several deep space outposts. The feat alone was something to behold and it was thanks to the deep space scout runners being assigned along the area that the system worked.
As the final of the four Tech Commanders entered their command codes the station hummed quietly before a massive invisable pulse shot out at light speed before it hit the recently installed Fold Accelerator only one hundred meters away causing the sensor pulse to half-enter fold space and half be in realspace.
It didn't take to long for the respones from the outposts to send the wave onwards across the massive expanse as well as send back any data collected. Though not highly effective just yet the system paid off. A realtime map of roughly twenty systems flashed on to the main projector. The systems that were void of any activity were displayed in red, friendly systems in green, and systems with unknown and enemy ships in blue and red respectivly.
The projector had been mostly filled with black systems and about five greens while no red systems appeared. However one system caught the eye of the station commander, a blue system that had been offiten refered to the slagged sister system of Epsilon Eridain, also called by the same name though it had a S lable added on the end.
"Alert the command athority. We may have something they want to see," the commander said.

~Five hours later~
It didn't take to long for the PSN NightFire, a Waterfront class mircro-destroyer to defold just outside the system boundries in a brilliant flair of a sickly green arura and massive spike of gamma rays.
Bull. My ship wasn't the only one ready to launch. They just wanted to get rid of me and hope I get fragged out here, Commander Rose thought to herself as she staired up at the bridges ceiling (she had it moddified to show a holographic feed of the space above the bridge for both asthetic reasons and combat reasons).
"Ma'am we've finished our space fold and the ECM is online. We're begining scanning operations within the next two minutes," the ship board AI, Alexander, said in his "mater of fact" tone.
"Thank you Alex," Rose responded as she pulled herself out of her thought pattern and began to focus on the mission at hand, "Prepare all plasma banks and alert the fighters to prepare for posible combat. I'm not going to be caught with my guard down like in Blue Dawn."

OCC2: The NightFire is about 1.3km long and painted black though the defold operation would probably turn some heads. Also the weapons ports that would be visable are based off the Covenant plasma torpedo systems but with far more upgrades and moddifications. So the ship should have an errie resemblance to the Covenant ships except it arn't eligant looking.

OOC: Nice first post. So I take it that you are either attacking Reach, or scouting it?
