War of Words(FT, War of Libration)

The message was sent out to all members of both sides that participated in the War of Libration.
To: All Republican allies and Zetan allies that played a part in the Blitzkrieg on Deatharon
Subject: Peace Conference
RE:

To all those concerned,

As agreed, the peace conference that will possibly lead to the end of this bloody war will take place in Republican territory. As a Consul of the Republic, I have decided to host it in my Empire, at my capitol, Taledon. There, both parties shall meet within the Senate chamber and discuss the possible treaty. We ask that all parties send a small, un-armed diplomatic vessel with an ambassador or representative.

We would like to bring to your attention that there is an energy field that will stop you at the border instantly. There you will escorted to the nearest border station and your ships will be searched for any threats to the Empire. Once cleared, you will be given co-ordinates to make a jump directly to Taledonia, where you can then take a shuttle to Taledon.

May peace ensue,

Consul Alexander Kellerman

As both fleets were pulled out of FTL travel at the border, they were intercepted by frigates. A standard message was sent to both of them.

Please power down all weapons you have and lower your shielding. Follow us to the border station for inspection, please.

After the message was sent, the frigates turned their heading and started leading the other ships to the closest station.

The scanners would go hog-wild when the scanner crews stepped in. The was so much 'radiation' that the sensors were useless. At least on the 'merchant' ship.

On the warships, they just found masses of metals.

The main landing pad in the city was full of life. Civilian craft constantly came in and left, and many people, both military and civilian, scuttled about the area.

As the Commercial Enterprise shuttle landed, it was greeted by Senator Florense, and sixteen shocktroopers who stood in two equal lines facing inward; creating a corridor with their bodies. At the head, the Senator awaited the ambassadors to exit.

Florense shuddered a bit at seeing the alien, but didn't let it show in the slightest. He kept his stern, serious, but welcoming stance.

Welcome to Taledon, the Imperial Capitol of both the Taledonian Empire and the whole of the Republic! I am Senator Florense, of the Taledonian Senate; may I be so bold as to ask your name? Mr. Ambassador.

As usual, a heavy rain came down in the great city of Taledon. The droplets shimerring in the light from the street lamps. The Praetorian guard marched about throught the throng of people, sloshing in the puddles of the streets.

The Imperial Palace sat high and tall, but for once it was not the center for attention. The crowds had gathered at the smaller building accross the street, why? Because it was there, in the Senatorial building that the end of the war might come, or the bloodshed would continue.

The great marble halls were quiet for the time of day, usually Senators and aids went around busily, but now the only people in the halls were the honour guards stanging at the doorways.

In the great Senate chamber, however, things were as lively as ever. The half circle of a room of white marble, with the various levels of uncomfortable marble benches; and the beautiful ivory and marble statues of the old gods, and the great statue of the founder of Taledon, Gaius Kellerman, against the back wall, sitting for all to see.

The Imperial Senate of the Republic and of Taledonia was gathered and sat in their customary places, but the various ambassadors from the other nations sat in the empty spots as well. Standing up from his spot in the front row, Emperor Alexander Kellerman, who was also a consul of the Republic, turned around and faced the rest of the people.

Settle down! Settle down! he lifted his arms into the air to signal for silence. We all know why we are here. To discuss the end of the so called "War of Libration" which the barbaric Neo Zetan empire started. Now before we all start bickering about petty things, I will leave the floor open to any foreign ambassadors to have their say. To those who are unacustom to our traditions, simply stand from your bench and speak your words loud for all to hear. He then stood there, looking around and awaiting any words.

Doron just threw his hands behind his head and leaned back with his ankles crossed near the floor. He tried to take up as much room as he could and get comfortable. It was going to be a boring meeting. He resisted the urge to draw his two light sabers and kill the Emperor right then and there. Afterall, fair is fair after what happened to Neo Zeta. Instead he just smiled conjuring up the mental picture. He wasn't going to bother wasting his breath on fools so he would wait and see if he even needed to speak in this "peace conference."

14-09-2005, 00:35
Kellerman peered up at Doron, noting with satifaction that the man clearly disliked him. It was good. He obviously feared the Republic if he came here, why else would he put up with this? Taking on a small, smug smile, Alexander continued to peer around the room.

Is there no one with something to say?

Carla Baileygates said, "Well, I do."

She then got up and said, "There is a major issue at stake. The Neo Zetan Empire, as you all know, is no more, integrated into the nation of CoreWorlds of its own will. I would propose that the Neo Zetan Empire not fall to this fate permanently, but rather, a secularized Republic be made out of the ex-territories of Neo Zeta, one which will not pose a threat."
Taledonia
14-09-2005, 02:39
That is what we originally wanted to do, turn the Zetan empire into a client state of the Republic. We would have installed a new, sain government, one that would know better. But alas, they have ceeded their territory to the Coreworlds, and there is nothing we can do about it as of yet. However, a war between the Republic and the Coreworlds may come, as we still see ourselves as the rightfull rulers of those lands.

Is there no one else?

Considering I was being attacked by the Realm fleet, which is a powerful force, and the fleet of another nation, I did considerable well for a loss of only three frigates and a destroyer; when I massacred several others. Do not test the abilities of the Empire, or the Republic, or it will be you who will be giving your territory to Coreworlds next.
The Humankind Abh
14-09-2005, 03:46
Doron couldn't help but laugh out loud as he returned his light saber to his hip. "I don't call destroying a few fighters exactly a massacre and hardly anything worth bragging about. I personally think you are nothing without your allies, but that is just my personal assesment. In any case I thought there was supposed to be a point to this meeting. I grow tired of listening to old men that have too much pride in their nation and do not know their limitations."

14-09-2005, 03:52
Keeping his frown, Alexander turned to Doron and peered directly at him.

If you insist, here are the terms of the Republic. These are not terms of your surrender, but merely a chance for our peoples to go back to neutrality.

1. A single payment of 500 000 dollars must be paid by each of them to the Republic.

2. All non-Republic personel and weaponry(including foreign mines) must be removed from Republican territory.

3. There will be no further actions of aggression towards Republican nations.

4. Trade will re-commence as it was before the ordeal.

5. All of them must agree not to enter into hostile actions with the Republic should we pursue our rightful territory and attack the Coreworlds.

Of course these are open to negoatiation, as that is the point of this conference.

"People are nothing without each other. 'Together, they shall stand tall; alone, they shall fall. He who is unaware of this simple truth is forever entrapped in his ignorance.' 'Alone, anyone is nothing.' 'To stand alone is to die.'" The Kazeci grew bored with quoting famous Kazeci proverbs for the enlightenment of this uneducated man.

14-09-2005, 04:06
Doron couldn't stop laughing. "What makes you think this Empire would agree to any terms? I blatantly refuse to pay any reparations. There are no mines in your territory, at least none from my Empire so that is of no concern to me. Our Empire never traded with you so that point is moot. And now you ask me to erase all friendship with Coreworlds. You people must have no since of pride if you want to go about backstabbing like that. I refuse all terms."

Doron then turned his glare on the Kazeci "Needing allies for ones power is a sign of weakness. It leaves one at their mercy for with out them he is nothing so he must always give in to their wants or risk showing his weakness. Besides, his allies wont live forever. If you do not learn to hold your tongue, you shall not live much longer."

Applause rang out across the hall; but the clinkign gauntlets echoed hollow; mocking them in their tone. As laughter joined it, replete with words. These words, echoed, boundless, circling the hall as thought a thousand voices, bestial and roaring, pit-born noises that defied mortal compehension, screamed at those present.
"And yet you are alone; I offer you the hand of friendship and brotherhood; in me, you shall fear no disease. You shall know every pleasure of the world, all knowledge and power, and you shall be a warrior matchless."

Marcus De Drakan stepped forward from the shadows, Lifesbane crackling and hissing in its scabbard at his side, as he moved to stand in the middle of the rows of seats. "Bravo, indeed. From the wise, let there come words of wisdom, that in seeming wise, he gain power and favor." That serpents grin crossed his Daemonic face, as he took a seat, armor crackling in eldritch splendor, dark as it was.

"How goes your talks of olive branches and doves?"
Taledonia
14-09-2005, 04:14
Ah, Marcus, I always wondered when I would meet my....blood kin; tho never expected it in a situation like this. Nobody informed me you would be present at these talks, but it is a most welcome suprise.

The Emperor peered over at the Kazeci with a humorous smile, just waiting for their reaction.

As for the talks, we are somewhat at the pointless stage of insulting each other and determining each's power.

And Doron, instead of completely rejecting the terms and refusing to co-operate like a spoiled child, why don't you propose something? If you Abh are so wise and powerful, I'm sure you'll have no trouble coming up with a few words.

14-09-2005, 04:21
The Kazeci turned viciously to the Chronosian, almost shouting. "Delende est Chronosia!" Quickly turning back, he replies in a more noble tone, "Without the assistance of others, a man is weak. Those who realize this and work together for their goals are able to accomplish far greater deeds. You would not be here were it not for the cooperation of your ancestors. Our realization of our weakness allows us to overcome it. A pity you have not learned the same."

14-09-2005, 04:23
Doron smiled. "My terms are this:

1. Deatharon is to give back the 5 percent of territory that was ceeded to them.

2. The Republic is take no aggressive action against Coreworlds and his allies.

3. The Republic is to not come out from it's borders in any agressive manner. They have every right to defend themselves from foreign invasion. Exploration expenditures and merchant vessels are the only vessel permitted out of your borders.

These are my terms. Do you agree to them or not?"

"You speak of weakness, yet know nothing of strength in your senseless prattle. No man is an island, but some men are continents, upon whom Empires are founded and alliances forged. Some men attract greatness. A man does not exist by cooperation, but through conquest. To be lord of other men, to use and rule them; is to build power by the very basest of components. The Kazeci was angered by two things, the first was that the Chronosian had actually responded, the second was that he had entered a conversation uninvited. More viciously than before, he turned upon the Chronosian, his voice loud and commanding. " Delende est Chronosia! You exist but for the cooperation of your ancestors! What would have happened had your females refused to mate? You would not exist as a species. If your scientists had not worked together? You would be incapable of travel but by foot upon but a single planet. If your people had refused to cooperate in the formation of Language? You would be illiterate. You are nothing without others behind you! Your race would not have moved beyond subsistence farming were it not for cooperation!" He was fuming with hate for the fool that he saw before him. "You deny basic facts, going beyond ignorance into stupidity!"

14-09-2005, 04:36
Alex eyed the Daemon Emperor, and understood what his late father spoke about him. Turning back the Abh, he took on a serious face once again.

We full heartedly reject your terms. It is not us who is on the defensive, but rather the allies of the Zetans, and you appear to be one of them. If we so choose we could carry on this war, and would bring it to your doorstep.

We have extended an olive branch, and you tore it in half and gave it back to us. If you are not going to be serious and handle this as a man instead of a boy then I see no reason why you are here.

Turning to the Kazeci once again.

Please try and keep things civil will you? Everyone knows of your dislike for the Chronosians, and seeing their leader must make you want to lash out, but refrain, and keep this civil and respectable.

14-09-2005, 04:40
"And you speak above your place, you insult those that are your elders and betters." He nearly hissed at the Kazeci. "I come to observe your peicemeal peace making and you would dare to raise your voice against me, whelp?" He rose now, glowering with that feral, crackling gaze at the Kazeci, as he advanced. "Your body exists by the will of the cooperation of atoms. If I were to dissipate them, it would destroy your being. Tell me, do your atoms sentiently wish to join together? No. Other beings exist simply to serve. In one way or another, civilisation is built on conquest. Scientists work for me, not with me; women breed with me and for me; yet they are all but slaves. My Primarch sons were engineered from my very being, without need of women. We have sent ships forth to explore and unite mankind beneath the banner of the dark gods since before you crawled from your primordial slime, filth"

Marcus stepped forward again, hand seeming to poise over the carved hilt of Lifesbane. "Now; will you be civil? Or do I have to wrench the babbling tongue from your head; Kazeci heretic and fool. Do you not know what boils in your 'leaders' veins. The man Kellerman is bound to me in blood. You should respect me, and my Empire; lest I have you whipped like the impotent dog you are."

14-09-2005, 04:43
He turned once more, ready to tear from its shoulders the head which had spoken. He held his tongue, however, and slowly turned away. Doron smirks as he over he listened to the Chronosian. "I like him."

"So does this mean that paying reparations and turning my back on allies is supposed to be a sign of peace? If that is the case then I would change my own terms so that you pay Coreworlds and myself. This would also mean that you cannot come to the aid of Deatharon. I may be young but I am no fool. This is the worst offer of peace I have ever seen."
Chronosia
14-09-2005, 04:50
"Personally I've seen worse; offered worse as well. However, I must note that this Republic would be ill-equipped to handle Coreworlds; especially given the reources behind it. As you know, Daniel Masaki is a truly effective warrior and strategist, willing to give his life for his country. I doubt any of you are so eager as to, one and all, die for a principal. Let Neo Zeta die in peace; or join him. Because pursuing this course of action, is far from getting what is yours, and far more getting what you deserve."
Taledonia
14-09-2005, 04:51
Turning from the Chronosian/Kazeci disturbance and back to Doron, Alexander cleared his head.

We were not aware of your ties with Coreworlds, and that is why we said that the terms were open to negoatiation. You simply close your ears and ignore the things I say that actually matter in this situation! Think before you speak, ambassador.

He then peered back at Marcus, who sat smuggly in the Kazeci's place, obviously thinking himself superior to everyone else in the room.
Kazecistan
14-09-2005, 04:52
Just as he left the room, he lost that fragile control which was once his. "You have no power but fear! Were your slaves all to reject your power, you would be helpless against them! You could not kill them all and they would have their way. They cooperate through fear. You gave power though and only through their cooperation!" His hands gestured wildly as his voice shook more and more. He walked toward the Chronosian, bearing his staff in a threatening manor. One could see the fury seething under his shin, burning in his eyes. Profanity began to spew fourth from his mouth in dialects of Kazeci too far from English to be discernable.

Slowly, his body dematerialized. Back aboard his ship, he received treatment for the anger disorder all too common in Kazecistan.

Sighing with relief that the Kazeci annoyance had been destroyed, and that hopefully they would approach the situation in a more mature maner. Alex nodded to Marcus, as if signaling to him to sheath his sword and sit down. He also had to extend his arm to signal the guards back to their post.

For the love of the Gods! This is the Imperial Senate! Keep things dignified!

As for some new terms. I believe perhaps this shall be more to your fancy.

1. Relations shall go back to pre-war status.

2. All former allies of the Zetans shall leave Republican territory immeadiatly, and take their mines with them. Republican vessels shall do the same.

3. You will be able to extract your dead, wounded and stranded, but must leave all wreckage, regardless of who it belongs to.

"Ah, so you think we will allow you to take any of our wreckage we may have left? That is out of the question."

The metallic orb was split as butter with a warm knife. Its parts lay cauterized and sparking a moment before they dematerialized. In the other side of the room, a Kazeci materialized to avoid the recurrence of Chronosia's last act, surely he would not kill an actual person right here? He had been listening to the conversation. "Kazecistan absolutely refuses to allow any debris or wreckage to leave the battle area. You may take any thing that can be repaired to full function with minimal effort and you may destroy any technology that you do not wish to reveal, but all debris will remain in the area for our collection- including that which you just destroyed." He ignored the Chronosian.

A single off-white beam of light began to materialise in the middle of the chamber, flickering uncertainly, and slowly fading, to reveal an ambassador, one with his suit slightly spotted with flecks of grey, looking bewildered.

The bewilderment vanished, and he snapped around, and took a seat.

"Greetings, revered... citizens of your respective nations. I am Imahl, Diplomat of the United Star League, here to resolve the former conflict between the superceded Realm, and the super-. Oh, wait. "Who are you siding with, Taledonian delegate?" He said this not with anger but with interest, almost wonder. "Because my statements reflect the opinions of the Kazeci government. The Republic has every right to this debris and we intend to exercise that right. All profits will be split with Republic nations, I assure you."
Taledonia
16-09-2005, 05:03
The Empire agrees with both statements, naturally. We agree that the Republic should have rights over the debris; but we also realise it was not these nations that we directly took victory over, that was the Zetans. The goal of this conference was to smooth over relations with the allies of the Zetans, not try and insult the, stalling the progress.

Kellerman turned, looking at all the faces of the crowd.

I believe we have the right to all Republican debris, and all Zetan debris. We also have the right to any debris that was Republican or Zetan that anyone has already collected. However, I also believe that in the interest of peace, we must allow the other nations to take their debris, or destroy them for all I care.

But, because the Republic was the victor, we are intitled to more than just what the Zetans left us, we should have some of what their allies have to offer. I ask that the nations here make a small sacrifice, and destroy anything of theirs, or take it, that could give away their technology; but leave anything that could just be used for scrap.

"Of course, to the League, this is irrelevant. Our wreckage was already returned by our fleet, leaving the majority of the useless plasteel behind. Of course, plasteel is no remouldable, and cheap to make, so you are, of course, welcome to it."

"However, in the mounting hostilites between the so-called Eternals and the Deatharon Empire, we feel, that, in our newly-mounted defense, we will have the right to retrieve any of our own ships that are destroyed from this point onwards. Whether you accept this or not is irrelevant, however, I am prepared to offer twelve billion HT monetary units in reparations to Kazecistan, another fifty-four billion to Taledonia, and another six hundred billion to be paid to the respective merchants of all former enemy governments involved in the conflict, in order to resolve peace."

He took a deep breath, steadied himself slightly, and continued.

"However, the attempt to collect metal is, of course, admirable, but, instead of resolving this in conflict, we are prepared to subsidize the cost of all outward metal exports to Kazecistan, in return for each and every nation being allowed to collect their respective wreckage."

The Kazeci was slightly flattered by the pleasant speech of the HT delegate and being called 'honorable'. It was a nice change from the hostilities from the others. "Kazecistan is most willing to accept the monetary reparations from your world in return for peace, provided that we may still collect the scrap you leave behind. Your 'plasteel' is reusable, at least for us. Our technology allows us to split objects down to component elements, and with time, individual protons, neutrons, and electrons; allowing us to make the raw material into many things."

He ignored Zatarack's delegate for the time being, his question 'not worthy' of immediate response. Turning to ABH, "Then we are agreed? Kazecistan and the Republic may have whatever scrap you do not destroy for the technological value? I must ask, though, that you limit your destruction to classified objects only and that the majority of their base materials are left behind." His tone was factual and without concern.

Turning finally to the once ignored delegate, he spoke. His voice was High-and-Mighty, and while he may not have been, he was certainly above these egotistical ants. "You will do nothing of the sort. How you would come by prisoners from this conflict is unknown, but if by some off chance you came by a few prisoners, you will return them to us or their respective nation." He paused for a moment to allow his words full effect. "You will leave the area with only what you brought, less if you oppose us. You will take no prisoners, nor will you take any wreckage, no matter how small. As stated before, you have no right to any of it."

Alexander was rather shocked, and his face showed his expression. When the HT delegation offered up the sum of fifty four billion to the Empire, it went against almost everything he knew of the Realm. They always hated the Empire after they left the Republic, and had even destroyed the capitol once; but now, they offered money, money that would be able to pay for many more soldiers.

On behalf of the Galactic Empire of Taledonia, we accept this offer by the Realm, or as it is now called, the League. Hopefully this will go along ways in stabalising Republican/League relations.

Turning

We also thank the Abh for agreeing to leave any debris that does not give away any of their secrets. Also, as a Consul of the Republic, I officially agree with the words of the Kazeci delegation; the Zatarack pirates will leave Republican territory immeadiatly with only what they initially brought with them. All scrap, hostages, or anything else that they have collected from the battle is to be released into space; or if it is life, then is to be returned to the respective nation.

The ambassador once again looked at the small viewscreen he had with them, and, his voice hushed...

"The Council is voting. Essentially, each province of the League has the right to make decisions on their own, but the Council makes decisions on mutual-defense, and trade treaties. In this way, some former Realm provinces may choose to declare war, and, unless the Council finishes its deliberations, and votes over 70% against war, the provinces are free to do as they see fit. Unfortunately, this means you have a high likelihood of meeting provincial forces, until the Council finishes its deliberations."

My province, Narralmar, is fully opposed to war, and may send aid to the Republic, whereas Tithis, Arrak, and Shoguii are likely to vote for war. Essentially, my advice in this matter is to give them multiple resounding defeats, and force the people to see that peace is superior. Otherwise, if they continue to win victory after victory, the League may see conquest as more profitable than peace...
