Dawn of a new age, Veredian Unification (FT)

Veredia
10-09-2005, 02:33
"Children of the commonwealth, I am Emanuel Vered, lawful heir to King Torien Vered, the last king to sit on the throne more than a thousand years of ago. For decades upon decades this great nation has collapsed, worlds once ruled by the Commonwealth called themselves independent and raid and pillage what was once our great nation. The colonies of Veredia have betrayed the throne, calling themselves free worlds, the houses, traitors all, long turned against the throne in their personal quests for power and wealth. Same goes for the corporations. These years have been a dark time for you all, a time of fear and uncertainty. Fear not children, for the light has come. I have come before you to deliver you from these dark times and bring the commonwealth into a new age. To reclaim our lost worlds and reunite the noble houses and corporations, to reunite the people, to deliver you from darkness. The Veredian Space never abandoned you, those loyal to a true Veredia have been in hiding, building, and preparing for a time when they could return to once again defend and fight for the worlds and the people that turned against them. I offer you all a chance, to do as your forefathers once did, and fight once more for a united Veredia, a strong Veredia, and together we will reclaim what is ours by birthright, and our great fleets will once more rule over a thousand worlds. Your time has come children of the commonwealth, to rise once more from your slumber, to turn away from your treasonous ways, to serve your king once more, and those that seek our destruction, those that seek to stop this great reunification will fall before the great fleets of Veredia. To the soldiers of the armies and fleets that control the Veredian cluster, I issue forth a call to arms, to serve the throne once more, to abandon your old loyalties to your houses and employers and so called republics, to come and serve Veredia once again."

The message was transmitted all across the Veredian cluster, and it took only minutes before every vidscreen and holo-projector was transmitting the image of the self declared king across all the worlds and stations of the Veredian factions. The noble houses, and corporations ignored it at first, thinking it to be some minor upstart, but at the major colonies of Baffin, Macross, Narius, and other worlds thousands of jump points opened and vast fleets of advanced warships entered realspace, each bearing the royal seal, a mark not seen since King Torien's death.

*Baffin Colony, House Strathcona Fleet Command*

Fleet Admiral James Strathcona watched the vidscreen as the message played over and chuckled, House Strathcona was one of the most powerful forces in the cluster, arguably the most powerful, and its fleets were advanced and powerful, considered undefeatable by friend and foe alike. If some upstart wants a fight, he's more than welcome to come here he said to himself as he sipped his drink and turned from the screen back to his work.

"Sir! Jump points opening, hundreds of them, they're transmitting royal signatures!" one of the tactical stations, which was fed information by the system's sensor net reported.

"Those codes are false, there is no authentic royal transponder, the last one was buried with the last of the kings. This upstart wants a war, he can have it, order the fleet to assemble here, we'll crush him and his precious 'royal' fleet," the admiral spat out bitterly.

"Sir! The fleet's out to far, these ships are between us and the fleet! They're coming right for us! And sir...the codes are registering as legitimate...it shouldn't be possible sir!" the tactical officer called out. The rest of the command crew was already preparing for battle and barking out orders to the station crew and reorganizing the defensive screens to combat the incoming threat.

"Impossible, the FTLi is up, nothing can get through it!" the admiral yelled as the enemy ships were moving into effective range of the station.

"They just..." the tactical officer was interupted as the comm officer cut in.

"Sir! The lead ship is hailing!" the comm officer reported.

"Patch them through, put it on speaker, let's see what these people want," the admiral ordered.

"Attention Strathcona fleet command, I am King Vered, the lawful ruler of Veredia. In the name of the commonwealth I command you to submit to the throne or face the death deserving of traitors. You have ten seconds to submit your response."

"Listen you little upstart, I am Fleet Admiral Strathcona, brother of Lord Strathcona, and commander of the most powerful force in this region of space, you may have pulled a nice trick bypassing our FTLi, but your fleet is small and weak, and the rest of my fleet will soon be in range, with a single word I have your ships obliterated. I offer you a chance to surrender, and I might just spare you despite your insolence," the Admiral said.

The response from the fleet was not quite what the admiral was expecting, all of a sudden just over 200 new jump points opened up and warships came out guns blazing. A vessel the size of a destroyer emerged and went toe to toe with a Lion battlecruiser, blasting the battlecruiser to pieces before striking its way through a cluster of frigates and destroyers.

The scene was repeated as vessels looking to be far weaker annihalated much larger warships with ease, smashing the Strathcona fleet and within two minutes, the main body of the Royal fleet which had been sitting there tore the fleet command station apart.

The rest of the battle was shortlived, and more than half the Strathcona fleet surrendered. The whole battle had lasted 149 seconds.

Dropships began pouring out of troopships that had emerged with the fleet, as they took up orbital positions as their heavy guns and the guns of the fleet blew defence platforms out of the space around the world. Orders to submit to the throne were transmitted to the Noble palace, seat of House Strathcona, and to bases and cities across the world, along these orders were the images of the short lived battle which claimed over two hundred Strathcona ships and the entire fleet command station.

This was repeated across multiple systems, and the Autonomous Defence Fleets which the VSN had established and which had been shut down upon the collapse of Veredia were reactivated, and under the control of the King. It took only two days, but the whole of Veredia and the central colonies had fallen under the control of the King. Whole fleets of mercenary ships, descendants of old VSN units declared for Vered, as did many houses and corporations, some reluctantly, but all did upon seeing the death and destruction wrought by the Royal fleets upon those who refused to submit.

The Noble Commonwealth of Veredia had been united, and now only the free worlds which had been conquered in the days of Corspacian occupation remained outside the grasp of the King.
