The Aequatian Infantry Combat Vehicle, Mark II ("Dragoon" for Armoured Cavalry Variant and "Improved Spartan" for Army Variant) is the next step for the infantry fighting vehicle. Well armed and armoured, it is still able to deliver soldiers to the front while keeping up with modern armour. The development was begun as experiences with the Spartan IFV led the Army to seek an improved vehicle in mobility and survivability, especially in urban combat zones against close-in assaults and the realization of the failure of the Cavalry's first fighting vehicle, the Cossack, whose explosive reactive armour proved to cause more harm than protection as surrounding infantry were fatally wounded by the armoured boxes when struck by enemy fire in simulated exercises.

It's design is nothing more than the Spartan IFV hull mounted on an improved suspension and chassis, larger road wheels allow for much better cross-country mobility and decreased chance of mud and snow to accumulate between the wheels and tracks, causing mechanical problems in the field. As well, a larger, two-man turret has replaced the earlier one-man turret which now allows for a separate gunner for the main 35mm gun. The addition of Level III Titanium Appliqué Armour provides additional protection to the Spartan's Bisplate/Carbon-60 armour. An improved bow design allows for better movement in water and a greater amphibious ability, increasing the vehicle's water speed by 50%. The only difference between the two variants is the passenger capacity, while the Improved Spartan as kept its original carrying capacity at twelve soldiers and their weapons, the Dragoon carries only eight cavalry troopers (the same as the Cossack ICV).

The Dragoon/Improved Spartan has the same weapon systems as the original Spartan IFV with its main gun being the ubiquitous Aequatian Military Industries M125 35mm Turret-Mounted Autocannon with a coaxial MG76 7.62mm GPMG. It is also armed with the same TOW2 launching systems as the original Spartan, with one-cell launchers on each side of the vehicle's turret. Firing ports along the side of the vehicle allow infantry inside to fire out with four mounted MG55 light machineguns (two mounted per side) with a full ammunition compliment of 500 rounds per weapon.
