I think I can write OK. Some people think I have a knack for it but I think they're just being polite. Give me an honest opinion, this is my first story-RPG thing. Also, Im looking for someone to play the rebels.

IC:

"LIEUTENANT Hac!" The young man was not being patient. "Sir! D Platoon is ready to move out to the exercise area!"

Seargeant Connor was one of the better soldiers. He should have known better than to break radio silence.

"Goddammit, asshole, you don't need to use the radio every fucking minute!" Hac wanted to give his subordinate a good tongue-lashing, but he was too tired. This was only a training exercise, but Hac believed in the value of keeping everything as real as possible. Even if it wasn't his country, it was an ally, and besides, it was his job.

Lieutenant A. I. Hac was a member of the Royal SkyCapt Commandos. In wartime, his job would be to go behind enemy lines and recruit the local population into an insurgency. He had done it before. Yes, his superiors were proud of him. And they "rewarded" him with this. The job of teaching an army that couldn't march in a straight line even if it wanted to. What a shitty little place this was.

Connor was on the other end of the line. He was a wise little man- he knew when to speak his mind, and when to keep quiet. This situation called for more of the second part. They had to move out in just a few minutes. Hac already knew that the whole company was ready, and there was no need to remind him. He always did things right on schedule. This country, Athiesism, had to learn to do that.

The accomodations were good- it seemed that in this army the soldiers were pampered, pedicured, massaged, and totally unfit for combat. Even so, they were better than when he arrived. The Lieutenant had been one of the first military advisers on the ground, perhaps four or five years ago. It was hard to tell how long it had been, but now he was back. And it seemed like the SkyCapt advisers were whipping the army into shape perfectly well.

In front of him was the camp enterance, and beyond, the Jurmaya Hills. It was off to there today, a 15-mile march over the roughest terrain on the island. He knew that the lazy bastards he was supposed to help train would love it. The entrance to the camp was guarded by an infantry section that he had specifically put there for the purpose. Everyone complained- this was one of the most peaceful places on earth. Why did it have to be guarded? Just let the men sleep!

The clock hit twelve. Time to go.

It was a good thing that the exercise started so late. The troops got their beauty sleep. Hac stepped outside. He could smell the flowers. Not only that, but the stench of the latrines added an extra aroma. There was all four platoons, standing straight and stiff-backed. Not bad. Or at least not as bad as usual. Just because they were conscripts didn't mean they were supposed to be treated like them.

He looked over the platoon leaders. There was Connor, trying to look brave while dodging eye contact. Cherhaven, confused as usual. Arba, looking well rested and at the same time restless. All four platoons were ready. It took only a simple single to get them moving, but it could wait. It was time for a little pep talk

"Good morn---"

A noise, more terrible than anyone had ever heard before, erupted where noone thought it would.

The gate entrance had gone up into a huge fireball. Hac froze once he saw it. He thought after all he'd been through, being a veteran of the Millenial Wars, it wouldn't scare him. But noone noticed their commander's fear- they were too stunned at the moment to remember.

Suddenly, it had hit everyone that the Old Man had been right. They really would fight someday. Hac, recomposing himself almost instantly, turned to them. A smile always helped in times like these. "Incoming!", Hac shouted. It was the drill for artillery, and this seemed to be something else. But saying nothing would make the problem worse. Giving the men something to do made them think the problem was under control.

As the entire company scattered to find cover, Hac summoned the platoon commanders, still standing in the same place, as immovable as a rock. Connor and Arba ran to him instantly. They did not salute, as was standard procedure in wartime- it let the enemy snipers know who the officers were. Cherhaven, though, did. There was no time to correct him. They were all showing incredible courage under fire, anyway.

A plan formed in Hac's mind in a flash. "Connor, hole up in the east barracks and Arba'll take the west! Cherhaven!" The stunned seargeant snapped his head toward his CO, his eyes opened wide, lips visibly trembling. "Fan out and search the hills! Make sure you take a manpack radio with you!" If they found anything, Hac wanted to be absolutely sure that HQ heard of it. The long-range radio was necessary.

"Yessir!" all three replied, almost at the same time. He had trained his subordinates well- they carried out their duties efficiently and without question. But during the heat of the chaos, Hac had lost track of what he was doing. Was it really an attack? Was it a bomb? Or was it some kind of accident? He turned his head toward the flames, which were now slowly receding. A mass of seared human flesh lie on the ground, and nearby the remains of a strange backpack, torn apart by its explosive cargo. It hit the commander instantly. It was one of the militants. The Army of God had struck. Before, it was just a rumor. But now, it seemed, these fanatics really existed, and were ready to take their fight to the very heart of the country, the "immoral, spiritually corrupt men who claim to lead our country to freedom".

Yes, that was what they said. What nutcases they were- if I ever see one, Ill make sure he never sees anyone again, Hac thought. The few doubts he had would quickly be dispelled by what he was about to see.

Over the hills, across the long valley, men appeared, waving guns and shouting the cry of Armageddon in the name of their God.

"AL-JUDAYA AL-KASHNYA TORUMIN!"

----------------------------------------------

Hours later, the Press Secretary released the following dispatch:

At 12:00 AM this morning, several thousand members of the rebel group declaring themselves the "Army of God" launched a series of coordinated attacks on our military bases throughout the nation. Casualties were reportedly heavy, although most of the attacks were apparently beaten off.

Although most of our country is atheistic, one-sixth of them were converted by Christian missionaries to religion. They have been treated equally and with respect throughout our history, but they are apparently enraged in what they consider the "immoral, spiritually corrupt" actions of our government. The Parliament today voted unanimously to begin military operations against the rebels and mobilize the reserves. Almost a fifth of the country is in chaos, as these fanatics move into our cities and cause chaos.

I apologize that we have little information available for the moment as we sort these events out. However, we call on all nations to assist us in defence. They apparently number several thousand, and until we mobilize our reserves we may be at their mercy. We implore you to help. If they seize control of the nation, despotism will reign and an expansionist regime will be put in place.

Here's a map of my country I made a while ago so you can get an idea of what's happening. We aren't really where the rebels are right now- its total chaos. They appear to be around the capital and on the northeast island, Bigtoa.

Some facts about my army:

Almost all of army is conscript, Navy, Air Force and officers are almost all volunteer.

Army:

80,000 men currently on duty, 20,000 of them combat troops (add reserves and you get 320,000 total, about 100,000 combat)
2,000 men paratroop corps
Marine Corps and naval aviation in training
Infantry armed with AR-15 and XSW plus body armor, all from SkyCapt
3 battleships, ANS Bogranin, Illustrious, and Indefatigable
1 carrier under repair (not available right now), ANS Horatio Nelson
300 small transports
2 logistic ships
1 Austin class LPD plus 10 LCACs

"This is Jenkins, where are you guys?!" A sergeant yelled, blasting away at an oncoming wave of the 'fanatics', as the instructors called them. He reloaded his AR-15, which he had retrieved from the armory, then resumed firing. A backpack on of his targets exploded, killing a cluster of troops surrounding the former-body. "We're coming!" "Just keep firing, we're coming with some ammo! Hey! Gunner, get over here, we need an MG position up here!" "I'm, *gasp*, coming, *deep breath*!" Jenkins looked back, and saw 10 instructors, along with a man lumbering along with an XSW-2, then turned back. Click click click click click click click. "Perfect," he muttered, then pulled out his pistol. A series of muffled shots ensued as he pulled the trigger on his silenced SOP-22, a weapon designed for Spec Ops soldiers. 1 fanatic, then another, then another, and yet another. "12, 13, 14, 15... 16, 17, 18, 19." Jenkins continued to count each soldier he dropped. A loud series of mini-explosions went off near him. He jumped a little, startled, then looked to his right. There was the gunner, blasting away on his XSW-2, an instructor next to him feeding the gun ammunition. Jenkins ran over, picked up ammo for both his pistol and rifle then returned. "Just like a turkey shoot," he thought, picking off more of the oncoming groups of soldiers...

As the C-5s closed in on the landing field the EA-6s added there jamming to the Battle, they did not know if their enemy would be affected much however. The Predators searched for ground targets. When the C-5s landed the door immediately opened launching Gage Scout vehicles and Humvees, soon followed by Infantry. Some C-5s took to much damage and where forced to stay grounded, other left as quickly as possible after dropping troops. The Gage scouts moved forward followed largely by Infantry as the Humvees stayed back Guarding the Runway.

IC:

The sun was bright out today. Above the mountains hung a handful of beautiful white clouds. Mountain snow was just beginning to melt, filling the streams and rivers with its pure water. If you followed these streams, were would you end up? It was time to find out. Hunting time.

"One-Six, One-One, what's up?" "Nothin' wrong, Smith." The American flying One-Six had a confident tone, with a southern accent that reinforced the impression that he could take anything anyone could throw at him. It was hard to find atheists today that immigrated into the country, especially in a place like America. But Mack didn't give a damn. He came here to get away from these people, and now he wasn't afraid of killing them.

"This is Viper Lead, let's hear everybody's status, over." Captain Smith was especially happy today. Flying through mountain valleys was no hard work for his team- in training, they'd been through hell and back.

"One-Two, me and my wingman are doing great." The apparent casualness of the comment was deceptive. Onambonga was a strict perfectionist. His callsign, which he relucantly accepted, was Nazi.

"One-Six, no prob-lem-o! Let's kick ass!" It looked like Mack wasn't all that bad off either.

One-Three, Four and Five were, of course, supposed to be there. Nobody could believe it- three attack helicopters grounded for maintenance problems! Oh well, they had to shrug it off. There was no chance the psychos would be able to withstand just three helicopters, anyway.

He thought of them, and there they were. The lead helicopter, Smith's, flew over a rise in the ground as he followed the mountain river to the target. And, right there, it seemed a dozen of the "psychos" were standing on the other side, waiting to cross, totally oblivious to their imminent death.

"Frizz, let 'em have it!" There was no point in saying that. The brunette in the front seat was one of the best gunners in the Army. It wasn't too long ago that they allowed girls to go into combat, but if the rest of them were half as vicious as Frizz, it sure as hell paid off.

The Desert Fox was moving at over 150 miles per hour, but the saturation rockets didn't need to be aimed that well. Pulling hard back on the stick and reducing throttle, Smith guided the flying beast into a hover. Frizz didn't need much encouragement- she wasn't a proper lady. The mountains were wonderful today, tall and bright. They were about to be soaked red.

The entire flight pulled into formation in what seemed like a split-second. Smith's gunner had a target solution, and without waiting she fired off a rocket salvo. This was the fun part, thought Smith. Six rockets soared from their launchers and slammed into the hopeless enemy. Death came easy to them. Even if it had been painful, they would not live enough time to remember it. You didn't feel when you got hit until an instant later. They were incinerated in half that time.

"Great work, guys!" It was pointless to say it. Viper Flight had drawn their first blood, and it was easy.

"Sarge, I see some in the woods! Lets have weapons free!" Mack's exclamation caught Smith when he wasnt paying attention. The Captain was wondering- why did the targets simply dissapear? There was nothing left of them. Maybe it was better that way. No remains, nothing left, just total destruction.

"Sarge, what the fuck is wrong!" The Captain was embarrased. Less thinking, more fighting.

"Spot report!"

"One-Six, Im goin' in!"

That was how the army taught them to act- agressive to the point of insubordination. Mack peeled off and sprayed the woods with rockets with impunity. Why didn't they shoot back? Why didn't they run? What the hell was going on?

Onambonga didn't want to wait either, and peeled off to clear his side of the woods. Smith knew that Frizz was itching to go, and wondered why she hadn't said so already. No words where needed; Smith pushed forward on the stick slightly and turned toward the woods. The gunner mercilessly pouned them with rockets.

"Frizz, watch it!" It was to late. She had set the launchers to salvo fire. The Desert Fox's entire load of rockets was loosed, totally wasted as Smith tried to find a target to point at but failed. The rockets kept pouring out with no way of stopping them, harmlessly plastering trees. "What the hell?!" "Godammit, bitch, think before you shoot!"

She was strange- sometimes she bitched, then she didn't say anything, the anger holing up inside her. It was better that way. There was no way of telling what she would be like if she threw a tantrum.

"One-Three, winchester." Onambonga was out of ammo. "One-Six, we're out." What idiots. They had wasted their weapons chopping up trees. It was time to put discipline into this unit.

You could notice the exhaustion in Smith's voice. "Viper Flight, R-T-B." He pulled the aircraft into a slow turn, picking up speed and flying over what remained of the enemy troops near the river. As he flew over, he noticed something. Not burnt flesh, but shiny bars of metal lying on the ground. Had they been firing at some kind of decoy? It didn't matter anymore, of course. They had wasted enough today, and there was going to be hell to pay when everyone was back and supposedly safe at base. The first helicopter strike of the war- and what did it accomplish? Where were the enemy troops that were supposed to be at the target zone?

"Viper, this is Ripper, come in, over." Base HQ had something to say. "Roger that, Ripper." Smith's voice was still noticeably ragged. "Abort mission. Air spotters report hostiles erecting decoys in target area." He wasn't going to give a fancy reply. It would only seem like an attempt to cover up the failure. "Could have told us that earlier, buddy." The man on the other end was confused. After a short pause, he tried to find out what was meant by that. "Viper Flight, this is Ripper. Say again your last, over." That asshole knew what he meant.

Somewhere on the valley below, a man knew the time had come. He hoped the decoys had worked. The atheist fools had wasted all their weapons. If they didn't, they would see the missile launch and the man would be a martyr. If the plan worked, he would be a living hero.

Clutching his obsolete Stinger launcher, he held it to his shoulder. It seemed like the flying demons spotted him, but they had nothing left to react with. The whole valley was lined with brave men- the infidels would make it out, maybe, but with their heads mounted on poles.

The target was dead in his sights. It was time to bring justice to them. A pull of the trigger, a blinding light, and a brief battle cry from the new hero.

"AL-JUDAYA AL-KASHNYA TORUMIN!"

Soon after, the Athiesism government suspected that someone was supplying the enemy with light antiaircraft weapons. It also was shocked by the elaborate deception.

A SITREP will be produced around 1200 hours tomorrow. It will lay out the battle situation.

Picture the nation this way:

The southern island, Liliputia, is about 30 mi X 10 mi. Ten miles northwest of it is Marche Noir, 10X20 mi. Twenty miles east of that is Bigtoa, L-shaped and about 20X20 miles. The capital, Athasism, is on the SE tip of Liliputia. Katangi Point is on the NW edge of the island and it's another city. Akrana is in the east-center of Marche Noir. Mosk is on the NW part of Bigtoa, Berkar on the SE part. Those are all the cities.

OOC: Well, the 5th Naval Task Force had arrived just before your new time-physics thingy was put into place.

IC:
"This is Capt. Hillman of Bravo Company, requesting a place to land troops, over." He looked out at the water through the windows on the Bridge. He turned back to the radio console, helmet tucked under his arm.

The Commander in Chief, General Lensen, was on the ball. Sitting in his battle HQ in the heaquaters, he responded, "I'm supplying you with the current SITREP. You are to proceed to Kentangi Point and made contact with them. We've been unable to reach them. Get there and give us a report. Over."
SkyCapt
09-09-2005, 19:23
"Affirmative. Proceeding as ordered." Hillman repalced his helmet, and wlaked onto the deck. He gathered up his men, 368 in all. 12 were missing. "What the... Roll call!" The men began sounding off, their voices hampered with bits of static as they called through their helmets. Hillman thought for a moment. Thompson, Carr, Manning, Higgins, Travis, and the rest of Tango Squadron was missing. Hillman sighed, then returned his mind back to the task at hand. "Athiesism HQ wants us down somewhere, an HQ over there has apparently not responded to calls or whatever. Anyways, we're going down there to get a report, while the task force moves over along with us. I expect you all to do your best. Nothing less." The men saluted, then moved over to their assigned helicopters. More Knighthawks were hovering over the Destroyer. Hillman lowered his visor, and climbed aboard the first helicopter, Pancor 8-1. The chopper raised in the air, then sped off at a fast pace. He held on, watching the water below flick by at breakneck speed...

A mile away, a man, seemingly going about his everyday business, trying to restore order in a time of chaos by tending his sheep, paused for a moment as he heard the sound of rotors. Looking up, he saw a terrifying steel best. Yes, he thought, he had been waiting for just this thing. Their friends had given them just the think to deal with it.

"Apu! Get the rocket!"

As he remained seated in the stable, Apu emerged from prayer and drew from under a hay bale a Stinger surface-to-air missile. He smiled mercilessly. "They will enjoy this!"

Hillman looked down. "STINGER!" He yelled, the noise of his cry ringing in his ears. His heart thudded. This was his time. The pilot jerked the stick. He wasn't about to let go. The helicopter lurched, and ammunition and explosives that had been on the floor fell out through the doorway. A small grenade had the pin get caught on the bit of metal sticking out that acted as a step. The grenade flew out, and detonated, obscuring Hillman's view...

"FUCK THEM!"

Apu was filled with rage. He had been waiting all his life to kill the infidels. This was his only chance, and he blew it. There was no time to worry about it, though. The demons were firing at them, and they had to take cover. Apu dove into the nearest stall, only to be covered in horse shit.

It was no problem, though- when the enemy arrived at their city, they were in for a surprise.

Katanga Point

The young machine-gunner group commander was ready, as were those near him. It was a good thing that the local commander was easy to bribe. Katanga point had been taken without a fight, the only cost being the money paid to the atheist division commander guarding the town. They had killed him anyway, of course. It seemed that the men flying above him were coming to see what had happened. It was time to tell them. "Open fire!"

Bullets ripped into the cockpit. The co-pilot slumped over, dead, his flak jacket torn to shreds. The panel in front of him was covered in blood, with sparks flying out of the wiring. The pilot struggled to control the copter. He turned to the side, giving his mini-gunner a cler shot at the enemy. A rocket came at the chopper. The gunner cursed. A moment later, a chunk of the chopper fell to the ground, a large hole in the bottom and top. The pilot slumped over, unconscious. Hillman was gripping his arm, blood oozing out of the hole in his battle armor. His arm was numb, and he felt faint. Everything seemed to be in slow motion, and he could hear his heart beating. It seemed that every thump was accompanied by a wave of pain, and he slumped against the back of the compartment. He gasped for breath, then everything blacked out. He was awakened by a sudden jolt, followed by a loud wrenching noise, which was accompanied by machine-gun fire from somewhere in the sky. Once again he elapsed into unconsciousness. A sudden kock on his helmet brought him to, and he looked up startled. An Elemental sat in front of him, holding his rifle in one hand and tapping Hillman's visor with his other. A bullet pinged off of the troopers armor, but was followed by more bullets. The man slumped over, a small hole in his suit. Medics rushed over, and dragged Hillman behind the twisted wreck of the chopper. He fainted.

We need medical aid down here, our medics are running out of supplies. *gasp* We have a base-of-operations of sorts, and Fanatic attacks have died down, for the *deep gasp* moment..." He removed his helmet, and breathed in the fresh air. He replaced it, and continued. "We are still under fire however, and the rest of the company is pushing on in Knighthawks. We currently have 29 wounded, and 3 dead." He gasped for air, and flipped open his visor. He leaded against the side of an overturned jeep, and struggled to contain his pain...

Headquarters, hearing the plight of the subordinates, was totally confused. "8-1, what's your mission status, over?" The only reply they could hear was gunfire echoing through the streets. "8-1, have you located the divisional commander, over?" General Lensen didn't tolerate insubordination like that. Just because those bastards came from another country didn't mean they could sit around and pick their ass when they had a job to do. "EIGHT-ONE, PICK UP, GODAMMIT! WHERE'S THE DIVISION?" He could already feel the sweat running down his cheeks. No, there was no point in yelling. He had had these tantrums before. If those men ran into trouble, there was no way to help them.

The twisted wreck of Knighthawk Pancor 8-1 lay on the ground. Hillman was in the seat, and finally wracked up the strength to respond. Stripped of his armor, his arm bandaged, he sat in the cockpit, his shirt open. "This is Hillman, Pancor 8-1 is down. Enemy attacks have stopped altogether, but we fear that they may strike. We've lost contact with the 3 Knighthawks that went into the city, and we fear the worst. Believe me, I would be in there myself, but my arm prevents me from doing so." "Your arm?" "Shrapnel. very painful. Rocket launchers, the only thing that can take me down, aside from a golden bullet," he said, laughing. He stood up, then sat down, faint from bloodloss. He sighed. He had expected anything but this. He looked down at his arm. He had taken a big gash to the arm, and the medics were afraid that it would get infection. So this was how his Tour of Duty in Athiesism began...

Albata Al'Salim overlooked the chaos. Three helicopters. [I]Three of them! Who could claim that!

He was confident of victory. First, his troops had bribed their way in to the city past that idiotic infidel they called the commander of the city garrison. That man had betrayed his own cause, and Albata had taken joy in shooting him personally. It was no problem. Infidels were meant to die, no matter what.

If only the rest had gone so well. The paratroop academy was not filled with fools. The rest of the garrison surrendered, but they had paratroopers stationed here and they were not so stupid. If only he had mortars now- he would blow that place to the ground. But no, his superiors had sent all the artillery east to assist in the seige of the capital. Too bad, life is tough. They were going to win anyway.

His subordinate spoke respectfully but with confidence. "Comrade Commander, the atheists have broken through the ring around their paratrooper base. We've sent Domontrov in to seal the breach."

"Well, there's no problem then, is there?" It was only then that General Albata noticed his subordinate was deliberately trying to stay behind a wall that hid him from the helicopter crash site. "And sir... they may have snipers. If I were you I..."

"Nonsense!" the general replied. "They couldn't hit an elephant from this distance!"

At first, the men on deck barely noticed it. A small boat, drifting in the sea. It had to be lost. It was better to board it first, of course- if it carried anything worth stealing it was an opportunity that could not be passed up.

The Liberator activated its signal lights. In morse code, it attempted to make contact. AMH LIBERATOR POWER DOWN YOU ARE UNDER OUR CONTROL NOW. No response. It just kept heading toward them. AMH LIBERATOR TO UNIDETIFIED VESSEL POWER DOWN OR BE FIRED UPON. Seconds passed. A minute was over, and it was clear they would be continuing on their course. "Starboard rudder, 20 degrees!" the commander shouted. Time to bring the broadsides on target. The gunnery crew waited until the target was well within range. It was an innocent merchant vessel, probably foolishly thinking that it was a bluff. "Open fire!"

An instant before the guns processed the target solution and were ready to fire, the ship picked up speed. It was easy to adjust the targeting solution. Just a few rounds and the stupid captain would be floating underwater with his men. The first barrage impacted, but the ship kept coming. "Flank speed! Full starboard rudder!" It was impossible to outrun the ship, that was now closing at ramming speed. Whatever it was trying to do, it couldn't be stopped in time...

"Brace for impact!"

the ship seemed to lift out of the water, a deafening roar ensued. A pillar of white water rocketed up into the night sky.

the force commander got hastily to his feet...

"get the choppers in the air quickly, begin unloading the equipment to the life rafts-"

A second, much bigger explosion ripped through the bowels of the vessel.

"AMMO BURN!"

the shouter took a bullet to the chin, and fell instantly. bullet holes riddle the deck and sides of the ship and marines fell, screaming, as the ship's prow rose to meet the moon...

Imair grabbed a radio, he lay in the bottom of an inflatable life raft, watching the remains of the Liberator sink beneath the waves.

"what we got lats, talk to me"

after 20 minutes of counting and reckoning. it was decided 200 marines had survived out of 1000, while 2 heavy choppers and 3 light attack helos had managed to get off the deck. the 2 heavy choppers carried vital equipment.

the 200 were either huddled in liferafts or had tied their buoyancy aids to the rafts and floated lazily around them.

Marines kept watch but nothing more came. the choppers guided them towards land for what would be the craziest beach assault in the history of All Military Hardware.

Imair reckoned it could be up to a week before the a search for them began.

It was nightime now. The men had seen enough combat. It had been vicious today- attacks seemed to come at them every hour of the day. The platoon commander was no better. He was sure that half of his men had either wet themselves or were having fits of extreme nausea. But there was no rest. They didn't see the attackers until they were right in front of them. Fighting broke out at point-blank range. The defences had held before, but they had to crack eventually. This fighting was biting, punching, clawing, and tearing. If you weren't there just a minute ago, it would be impossible to tell that a platoon had been there fighting bravely just moments ago. Nothing was left.

This morning, the 1st Army Command updated its previous SITREP, allowed for its distribution to all allied commander-and-chiefs.

Static came over the radio, then silence. "Bluebird flight, move in for pick-up." "Roger." "Affirmative." The pilot tried to get through, but was unable to pick-up a signal. He gave up, then moved in, followed by the rest of the flight.

OOC: Oh, and just to clear it up:
Any units with the callsign Pancor #-#, Jackhammer #-#, etc., are chopper units, for transportation. Any units with Bravo, Delta, Alpha, etc., are infantry companies, transported by chopper. Units with above names + 'Wing' at the end are air wings.
Example:
Dingo 6 = Helicopter Flight
Valkrie Company = Infantry Company
Delta Wing = Air Wing
Just to prevent confusion.

ooc:
Alright, if nobody's going to RP the attack on my capital, Ill do it myself.

ic:

Yesterday, rebel forces breached the capital trench line and began marching on the Capitol Building. If this falls, then so would the rest of the nation. A small unit was sent to seal the breach. It was all that was available, but it would have to be enough.

COMMANDER Tonkin's job was supposed to be straightforward; there was a critical breach in the defensive line, and it was up to him to seal it. His troops were marching behind him unflinchingly, as sporadic mortar rounds pounded the nearby buildings. There was worry in his commander's voice when Tonkin recieved orders from him to set up his defense line. It didn't matter- he had trained his troops the best he could, and they would be able to take it.

They had reached the defensive area, and it was time to set up. By now his men were overwatching their movement, half of them in prone position covering the other half that dashed to a new location in case they ran into the enemy. It was necessary to do that so close to the front. Contact could be expected any second.

In front of them, a dozen meters away, was the men of the reconassaince outpost that had been holding the position all day. Fortunately, there were few bodies, but they had had to endure bombardment all day. Tonkin shouted commands to his infantry company. "A Platoon! Take position on the east side of the street! B Platoon, take the west! C Platoon, set up machine gun nests to both flanks!" His subordinates followed the orders efficiently and immediately. The men moved off to their assigned positions, the specifics being ironed out by the lieutenants and seargeants.

Tonkin entered the door to the house where the recon platoon was dug in. It was unlocked, but he was sure civilians were somewhere inside, hiding because there was nowhere to run. The recon commander was short but muscular, and happy to be relieved. "Commander, you've arrived!" It was understandable- their tiny platoon could not hold for more than a few minutes without support. Ignoring him, Tonkin went over to the window where a soldier was kneeling and peering through binoculars. Snatching them away, Tonkin viewed the wide, open expanse in front of him- Central Park, formerly the only natural, untarnished part of the city, was burnt to the ground by the intense fighting. Scanning the horizon, the Commander spotted movement on the other side of the park, a mile away. Increasing the zoom for a closer look, he spotted the distinctive turbans of the Army of God.

The familiar TUNGT-TUNGT-TUNGT of the mortars rang through the small house. Mortar fire was back, and it continued to shake the foundation.

"We've been monitoring them for a few mintues, sir. We sent them a few rounds when they started getting close and they retreated to where they are now. That's when they started pounding us with artillery." The recon lieutenant had to shout to be heard above the bombardment. Tonkin viewed the ugly soldier. He was young, maybe twenty years old, but it seemed he was a capable man. "Great work. Good job, lieutenant. Check up on your men, I'll try to do what I can from here."

A mortar round landed nearby and made both of the men almost loose their balance. Screams came from a nearby room. "There's people in there..." The lieutenant didn't need to tell him. Tonkin knew that there were probably civilians in the house. He gulped. The young man obviously didn't know what to do.

"Let them take care of themselves." With that, the Commander walked off to confer with his officers.

"Papa Charlie, this is Alpha X-Ray, enemy contact, over." The radio had been through much abuse, but it still worked as if it was brand-new. "Alpha X-Ray, Papa Charlie, sending in the reserve, over." The men at HQ sounded enthusiatic. A Nebarri mechanized unit was in the area, and it was going to act as a brigade reserve. They apparently thought that this was where the main attack was going to be. He would have backup soon.

Time to talk to his air spotter. He had to be around somewhere. Tonkin found an overturned truck covered by camoflague mesh. Polenin had already set up his spotting outpost. Banging on the near side with his pistol, Tonkin saw Polenin emerge, carrying a ration tray with him.

"Just eating lunch", he told the Commander.

Tonkin felt angry at Polenin- he was sitting there eating lunch, while Tonkin hadn't aten in more than a day. Well, it was just one more reason to survive the battle, even if it just meant eating one last time.

"Have you talked with HQ?" he demanded. The air spotter nodded, chewing on a tasty-looking chicken breast. "Listen," Tonkin said, "get something in the air to help us. This is going to be their main attack and all we have is our company and the recon boys."

You could hear Polenin swallow the food. "I'm trying. There's some problems with the radios, it seems like the Air Force is using a different encryption than us."

"Try. And you can't see anything from where you are. Move up on top of a building. Make sure you can see Central Park."

Tonkin turned around and decided to check on C Platoon. The uniform was surprisingly comfortable. He heard that most people thought his army pampered their troops with luxuries. Yes, a comfortable uniform was nice to have in the middle of it all.

C Platoon was having trouble. They had set up along a narrow avenue, and couldn't get a good field of fire for their squad assault weapons. "There's an easier way to do this," Tonkin stated, taking control of the situation. "Set up a few ambushes in our rear. If some of them break through, wipe them out right away. Don't wait for my orders, you should know when."

Their commander simply saluted and then turned to speak to his subordinates. Tonkin got the sense that the man possesed immense fear, but was doing the best to hide it.

Jogging back to the house with the reconassaince men, he noticed the sounds of battle. Gunfire rang out, yells for help echoed down the street. The assault had begun.

Tonkin glanced down the other end of the street briefly. The Nebarri units were supposed to be here by now- they were only a few blocks away. Had they been ambushed? If they had, Tonkin's men would be on their own.

C Platoon split up and raced into position, their lieutenant calmly and crisply issuing orders to where to position the troops. It seemed the man could make up these plans instantly.

Once more, the mortars roared to life. A lucky shot landed on a nearby building and sent the top floors collapsing downward, crushing all inside and sending fragments of concrete ripping through the air. Tonkin felt what seemed like a gentle sting in his torso. There was no time to worry about it- all he was thinking of was the battle. What was he doing? He had to keep moving until he got to the command house.

He saw a few men strung across the middle of the street, armed and ready to fight but deployed totally without cover. He needed to reposition them or they would be torn to pieces. Tonkin yelled at their commander. "What the fuck are you doing!? Get your guys in the buildings! Don't just let them sit there!" He could barely be heard above the guns and mortars, but the message got through. Although visibly shaken, the lieutenant in command of the unit did his best to recollect himself, and ran toward the nearest building, motioning his mean to follow him.

They followed him halfheartedly, but most of them were frozen with fear. What a poor job the lieutenant was doing motivating them. There was no time for him. Tonkin ran down the line, cursing and kicking until they were all in position. He realized it was all his fault. He was supposed to train all of them, and although the Company looked sharp and organized in peacetime, it fell apart under pressure. "ALL OF YOU!" His voice was going dry. "GET! UP!" Ignoring him, one of the men opened fire while the enemy was still far out of range, making it even more difficult for the troops to hear orders. Tonkin had to run to him and nearly yell in his ear. "STOP FIRING! JUST MOVE! GET INTO THE..." he failed to get the last words out. His throat was parched. Still, they got the idea. The rest of the unit had already entered the buildings.

A thousand yards in front of him was a line of turbaned men, charging forward, stopping to fire, and then moving again. At this range, their fire was wildly innacurate. He doubted that they could even see the targets they were firing at. There was no time to watch, though. He continued to run toward the command house. Suddenly, in front of him roared four aircraft, grey, fat, ugly, and loaded with bombs. As they passed over, he wondered why they did not drop their payloads on the insurgents. Surely, they were on his side- the rebels had no aircraft. He was proved wrong seconds later- the bombs could be heard to be exploding far to the rear. Probably the Nebarris bombing their own troops on accident. He needed those reinforcements, but there was nothing anyone could do.

Finally reaching the command post, he saw the reconassaince force commander still standing there directing fire. Tonkin pulled on his sleeve to get his attention. When the lieutenant turned, he was the first to speak. "Commander, you're bleeding!" The man's eyes were fixed on Tonkin's torso. It was hard to believe that that sting could cause so much. He didn't feel any pain. Suddenly, he felt weaker, as if knowing that he was injured made a difference somehow. Up until now, he had been thinking of nothing but the battle. Amazingly, he could see through the window that Polenin was still behind his truck, probably still eating lunch. "Polenin!" The commander could barely speak now, gagging on his own words. There was a momentary lapse in the firing and noise, and Tonkin took advantage of it to shout the name again so he could be heard. Polenin emerged immediately, towing with him maps, charts, and a radio.

The roof of a nearby room collapsed, and sent the door falling to the ground. His hearing was going- the noise of the collapse was deafening. Out of the door sprawled a young soldier, his nose draining blood. He rushed into the room, seeing if he could help. Part of the roof was still up, but it was likely to collapse soon. "Everyone out! Get into the next room!" There were still soldiers sitting under the still-standing portion of the roof, but they were petrified. "Come on, you cocksuckers, move it!" Shaking, one of them ran out the door, the rest following soon after, choking on the dust. Tonkin decided to go up to the second story to get a better look. The stairs were covered with glass, but it didn't penetrate his boots. Polenin had already moved up into the attic. So had the reconassaince commander, although he had abandoned his binoculars- the enemy was so close you could almost see the whites of their eyes. An explosion shook the structure- perhaps they were too close.

He noticed that the man was looking at his bloody torso. "Don't worry," was all Tonkin had to say to him. The fanatics were now visible through the window, advancing over scarred ground with some disorder evident.

Tonkin turned to Polenin, sprawled across the floor with maps at his side, chatting with someone on the other end of the radio, ocassionaly glancing at his charts. The only way to tell what Polenin was saying was to lip-read - the air seemed thick with noise. Tonkin tugged on the officers legs, but he held up his index finger- wait a second. Polenin cautiously rose above cover, peering over the sill of a broken window. Holding up a flare gun, he stopped his radio conversation for a second. Then, at what seemed like just the right instant, he let loose a flare over the charging hordes. An instant later, he threw the gun out the window, ducked, and covered his ears. Instinctively, Tonkin imitated him.

One of the fat, ugly airplanes that had bombed the Nebarris a few minutes ago flew overhead, and dropped a devastating explosive that shattered the attic's other window. The sight of it was amazing, as was the sound. A massive fireball, perhaps reaching a hundred feet tall at its tip, sprouted from the ground. This was followed by other massive bursts, along with the smaller ones that merely shook the foundation. If it didn't kill the enemy, they were certainly at least deaf by now.

Polenin turned to Tonkin and grinned. "Hey, I got the job done, didn't I?"

"How did you get them on the line?"

"HQ gave us all the planes they have. We're number one on the list right now." You could notice that Polenin sounded surprised even as he said it.

Polenin was still busy- gathering up his equipment, he prepared to leave. It seemed that he preferred not to notice his commander's wound. Tonkin could feel his strength giving in, but he was determined not to look at the injury. Better to pretend it was never there.

Climbing back down the stairs, Tonkin decided to meet with the recon commander. As he entered the room, the lieutenant's eyeballs lay at his feet, in front of a line of spilled blood leading back to the body. Putting it out of his mind, Tonkin viewed out the window. As he expected, Central Park was cloaked in a cloud of smoke. A group of enemy had made it past the defenses, but instead of pausing to clear the buildings, they ran past the command house, simply firing at anything they saw as they ran down the road between the buildings. The few soldiers left in the house simply did not see them- all the windows looking out on the street had been sandbagged.

He was still able to peek through one of the sandbagged windows, witnessing the total chaos in the street. He reached for his pistol, but it seemed that it had been lost somewhere. It was not uncommon to drop things while running about everywhere.

Above, the noise of helicopters. They had to be on his side. From the noise, he thought there was two of them, but it was hard to tell. They flew an orientation pass without firing their weapons, turned around, and through the front windows they could be seen vanishing behind some buildings. The priority now was to see if C Company could deal with the enemy troops that had broken in and were racing down the street. He needed to find weapons to bring with him. In the house's kitchen, two men sat doing absolutely nothing, as if they had no responsibilty in the war at all. "Both of you! Come with me!" As he ran down the street to get to the ambush positions, he saw that his forward defences had been totally destroyed. Dead men hung from the buildings and layed on the street, and he could tell from the uniforms that they were his. The reinforcements had not arrived. The battle had been lost.

Moving carefully, Tonkin and his two escorts came crawled into a dumpster and climbed on top of a mound of trash so that they had a clear view of the street beyond. He hit his stomach on something, and the pain felt as if it sapped his life from him. His blood dripped into the filthy ground.

And over as Tonkin pulled his head up to take a look, the most beautiful sight of his life welcomed him. The road was clogged with jeeps, thundering down the road, flying the Nebarri banner. A few desperate fanatics attempted to charge them, but they were mowed down. The line of vehicles proceeded up the hill to where Tonkin was standing, passing mutilated bodies, but plowing past in a wonderful, invincible surge.

Tonkin leaned against the dumpster wall, knowing that he could let go at last.

“here they come!” yelled a lookout

as soon as this happened everyone of the Nebarri solders got into there positions. The Fanatics came running up and both sides began firing…

Nebarri 1st fleet has arrived at port and can unload some Tanks and a few thousand solders

OOC: very limited right now, how many Fanatics are attacking and what are they armed with (about 20,000 troops with little more than Assault rifles right?)

and the weekend is what happened to the other people, its never as active on weekends

Read the SITREP, it goes into detail. They have 45,000 guys, 20,000 are attacking the capital, a lot are attacking the city of Mosk in the north, and there are more at Katanga point in the west. You really should read the SITREP.

edit: The Nebarris can unload the tanks. Have them deploy at the capital city and place them in offensive reserve in preparation for a counterattack.

Tanks are being unloaded and moving into defensive positions in the Capital city for preparation of a counter attack.

Soon after the Nebarri vehicles arrived the Infantry came. One man walked up to Tonkin and the few others with him “hello I’m Commander John Carter of the Nebarri quick response force.” Then also noticing Tonkin's injury turned slightly and called for a medic.

Bluebird flight set down on the airfield and the AMH marines bailed out and ran to secure a perimeter. The two heavy choppers set down nearby and the 4 jeeps removed. Men looked around and worked out which friends hadnt made it, and prayed it was quick.

Imair saluted as the friendly choppers departed before turning to his command jeep. he walked across and picked up the satalite phone.

"Yes this is commander Imair...Yes...yes, we landed...no it wasnt easy....no......800...dont get like that....no.....yes....send the rest....yes now....by plane....more light vehicles.....more 50 cals than missile launchers....not sure on the enemy round here.....fly high and decend rapidly....bring the Super Pumas and Halos....no....no...no...NO!...dont inform the government...no not yet...the liberator...umm...yeah we lost that too....sorry...dont take that tone with me commander....i dont care who paid for the ship....no the new radar didnt help, more like hinder....the bastards drove into us...yes a suicide attack....then your new ammo holds went up in flames....idiot....no...just shut up, hang up and send the rest...stop being an imbacile...use the C-17s...yes the strip is relatively secure...just give 'em parachutes...and dont send any ships...at all."

he threw the phone back into the jeep and turned to his men.

"Make yourselves at home, im gonna go find someone in charge> An ambassador, base commander, anything."

Packs hit the ground and the men sat around, 200 out of 1000 with only 4 vehicles and 5 choppers. Imair swore as he looked back at them. morale seemed to still be high. no one had collapsed in tears at the carnage earlier.

IC:
Crickets chirped in the area around Hillman. Occasional gunfire from Katanga Point, designated Sector 331 by SkyCapt forces, punctuated the the night. He got up, and went to check his rifle. He stretched his left arm, now unbandaged. He grimaced as the slightest trace of pain went through his nerves, then put his arm down. A cat walked by, rubbing his legs as it went. They had found the little critter eating scraps out of their kitchen area, and hed kept it. Hillman turned his attention back to the task at hand. He counted his remaining soldiers. 320. He ordered them to form up, and gave them instructions. They were to go into Sector 331 under cover of night, and try to find the missing troops - If any had survived the 2 days since contact had been lost. He grabbed his AR-80, put on his helmet, and the 16 squadrons of troopers moved out. He wondered how many people that cat would get to greet tonight. If any.
*Red Sky Deck*
20 LMF MkII's were lined up on deck, waiting for the green light. The signal came, and the jets screamed off the deck. 20 more LMF's came up, and were launched.
*Black Eagle Deck*
A Wing of F-24 Delta's was launched, to provide support for the fighters. They hoped they would return with a full load of weapons.

Katanga Point:

The point man walked ahead, cautious, brave, but at the same time afraid. Looking around every corner he passed, he watched his step as he went through a narrow alley. The squad commander wanted to see if the alley was clear first- even if it was an obvious ambush point, it was by far the most direct route. The point man was almost at the other end when he fell into a pit covered by garbage. As he fell, two boards of wood pressed into his sides, full of nails- a punji trap, the most painful way to die. The scream was the signal to start the ambush. At first only a few showed their heads, but when an anxious soldier opened fire on the windows they popped their heads from, all hell broke loose...

They knew the atheists would take this route to rescue their hostages...

Imair stood on the top of a Chinook, he explained the situation to the 200 or so men stood around, the light was beginning to fail. He explained what the man in charge of the base had told him and came to the part about AMH's role.

"Men, there is little point in staging an attack tonight, our forces are pretty much decimated and we have no supplies. Tomorrow, when the rest have landed, and the vehicles, we will drive to Mosk and flush out these rebel bastards. A sub will be on station soon, supplying us with missile strikes. it will also find and mark the Liberator's wreckage and will stay submerged. a second submarine is going to place sensors around the enemy ports, and lie low, and hunt enemy shipping. prahaps catch these supposed arms dealers.

4800 men will arrive throught the next few days, the long term plan is to secure a safe sea route in and land heavier equipment that these rebels cant withstand."

the men cheered and shuffled off to their beds. the few officers had set up their sleeping areas in the Chinooks but the 3 attack choppers were put under Skycapt's commadn for support. with that, Imair went to bed.

SITREP 9.12.2013

CLASSIFICATION: BINGO 6

1. MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of Anti-Insurgent Allied (AIA) nations is to restore order to the Republic of Athiesism and eliminate all insurgents, pirmarily the Army of God (AG) and its various subfactions.

2. ENEMY SITUATION

En activity appears to be restricted to defensive operations, with the exception of the area around Mosk. A new enemy offensive is underway in the area of Mosk.

1. An AG cadre identified as JURYMAYA KRASHNYY has begun moving toward Mosk in company with ALLAHU AKHBAR. En advance is largely unchecked.

2. An AG cadre identified as ARMY OF THE LORD (ATL) in addition to cadre ARMY OF THE LORD (ATL) have adopted a defensive posture.

En forces apear to be armed with small arms and have apparently captured several AIA weapons. Outside arms suppliers suspected. All leaves are cancelled. Confirmed reports state insurgents to be attempting to blend in with civilian population and launch assaults. All personnel are to carry side arms at all times; however, Yellow Card ROE is to be strictly adhered to in non-combat situations.

3. FRIENDLY SITUATION

Allied forces in the capitol are preparing for a major offensive to be spearheaded by Nebbarri armor units. In the west, SkyCapt airmobile troops are attempting to rescue portions of their force that are cut off. Still no contact with Athiesism paratroopers stationed at Katanga Point.

1. Previous intelligence reports were incorrect. SkyCapt helicopter unit PANCOR was able to withdraw most of its force to safety on September 9th by helicopter to a camp 50 miles S of Katanga Point. Currently moving to make contact with rest of force, still isolated at Katanga.

2. 4th Infantry is giving ground to JURMAYA KRASHNYY and ALLAHU AKHBAR units. Unable to contain attacks.

3. Remnants of 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division (Detached) have been rotated off the line for recuperation. Mobilized reservists of 7th Infantry Division have taken their place.

3. Nebarri Quick Reaction Brigade and Nebarri 14th Armored Division are preparing to initiate a counterattack later today.

4. SkyCapt 5th Fleet is on station W of Bigtoa in company with AMH amphibious assault force. Preparing to assist forces at Mosk.

5. Nebarri Naval Force cruising of coast of Liliputia.

6. SkyCapt helicopter assests maintain contact with crew of AMH Liberator. Reported to be attempting an assault.

7. Athiesism Air Force units have been largely destroyed on the ground in a coordinated assault on airfields across the nation. 1st Helicopter Company grounded for lack of spare parts.

Some reservists have already been mobilized, but the majority remain without weapons. SkyCapt appears to have ignored the request for spare parts for the Athiesism Air Force issued yesterday.

This village was not going to go down without spilling infidel blood!

The enemy was charging forward reclessly. Ahmed spotted a man that looked kind of important dashing down the street. Opening fire with his captured XSW machine gun, he missed him- its hard to hit someone getting up and running ten meters to cover. But the rest of the fools followed him, and it was no problem shooting them down. He counted the bodies. One, two, three...

“Copy That” said Major Jack Simmons “alright lets move this Armor out we have to hit grid 9986-1965 with everything we have!” at this 160 M1A2 Tanks that had been loaded moved out with 16,000 Infantry.

A little further ahead. “Sir this just came in” said a Privet handing Commander Carter a note. “Alright, get into your vehicles if you have them. We are heading for grid 9986-1965” and 40 Gage Scouts zoomed away followed by 8,000 Infantry.

“Fire Cruise missiles and Cannons target is grid 9986-1965” where the orders to the fleet. Soon F-16s began bombing the position the Cruisers and smaller ships began launching their Cruise missiles and the Battleships turned their 16-inch guns and fired.

From Nebarri Prime Force Commander to whomever it may concern in Athasism’s Government. We have begun our attack and hope to achieve a brake threw currently we have 24,000 Infantry, 160 Tanks, and 40 LAV Scout Vehicles are involved. 152 AH-64 Helicopters will be added to this Tank and Infantry assault when they get the chance.

We can have 500 Tanks and 50,000 Infantry ready but your docks do not seem naturally built for such a large fleet as ours, it will take more time to load them.

"aye sir, bringing us to periscope depth"

Soundlessly, the submarines props began to turn, and the sup rose from its resting place on the sandy sea bed.

the captain peered out, it was overcast, possibility of rain later maybe, he was no weatherman and it didnt bother him down here. An old grotty freighter, medium length but riding low in the water, steamed NNE. he could make out land in the far distance, but no features.

"ok, slow ahead lets follow this one, where is it headed?"

"if it carrys on in this direction, theres a large but concealed cove, its really shallow though, and that ship is low in the water. im not sure it would fit."

meanwhile.......

the last C-17 for 3 hours took off for home. throughout the night, around 2000 men with supplies and vehicles had landed. Choppers were being put together and men played cricket off over by the fence. Imair was considering attacking with what they had. He had 12 fighter-bombers, with ground attack weaponry. He admired their sleek lines, and the shiny fat bombs under the wings. He smiled, not just ordinary bombs...napalm. Stryk got the green light, he was AMH's best pilot and flew one of 3 bombers with conventional bombs and a chaingun.

He flicked up the plastic covers and armed the bombs. his harrier had been in a holding pattern high above the battlefield, waiting for this moment.

The fighter flew very low and fast, straight down a main road. its very likely that Hillman and his group were the only ones to hear the jet after its pass had been completed.Stryk dropped the bomb through the door. when the dust and debris settled, very little remained. A burning terrorist ran past the alleyway and fell, rolling about for a few seconds before holding still. Stryk circled once,

OOC: I guess you'll have to RP the rebels in my next post, unless Piglatnia comes on-line.

IC:
Hillman ran up the streets, dodging bullets like a madman. He ducked into an alley way, where the rest of Delta Squadron was waiting. His squadron was right behind him. 12 ran into the alley way. He peeked out, and right before a wave of bullets slammed into the bricks next to him, he caught sight of 4 men of the ground. One was trying to crawl away, but was shot before he could move a centimeter. Hillman went back into the alley, where the squadron's were grouped together. He and the other squadron leader began to figure out a way to get out of their predicament.

The SkyCapt troops had finally entered Katanga and were surrounded. General Amhadineajad had sent every soldier he had to stop them- things weren't looking good on the other side of the island, and this might be the last victory he could get.

The fanatics had lost contact with Hillman's unit, and had fanned out to look for him. Watching carefully as they went, they scoured the streets for any sign of the enemy's survivors. Suddenly, one of them rounded a corner while looking the other way. In back of him, Hilman stood just three feet away, out of sight, but his heart pounding...

Around the capital, the Athiesist reservists had mobilized. Pulling their weapons from the dead bodies of their comrades, they were the only reservists to have weapons- most of the nation's small arms depots had been seized in the first day of the war.

Forming up inside the city, they advanced in a long column along several routes. Just minutes after they cleared the suburbs and the fanatic snipers there, in front of them lay the enemy trench line. Enemy machine-gunners immediately opened fire, pinning down whole platoons as they stuggled to build up the courage to return fire. It was of no use- the army had never seen battle before, and the troops were consumed with fear. Suddenly, from the west came the flanking element- a batallion of soldiers, charging in from the left flank of the fanatic's main line of resistance. Half moved, while the other half covered with fire, being cautious while at the same time fearless. Having caught the enemy off guard, they were invincible. As they consolidated near the trenchline for the last dash into it, they shouted their own battle cry- OORAH!

Mosk is on the NW part of Bigtoa, Berkar on the SE part. Those are all the cities.

Today, 1st Army Command again authorized the daily SITREP to be issued to all allied heads-of-state and senior military leaders. Although positive in the south, the situtuation is quickly turning sour in the northern city of Mosk:

The captain watched as the freighter began offloading crates onto smaller coastal tenders, there was now an Army of God banner flying from the masthead.

"Arm tubes one and two"

"aye sir, arming tubes one and two,....tubes armed"

"range 3000 yards......tube one.....FIRE"

"torpedo one away!"

The single torp rocketed towards its target, the enemy blissfully unaware of their impending doom. The seconds ticked away, 5...4...3...2...1...IMPACT.

The freighter seemed to bulge, before bursting into a fiery ball, metal panels splashed around the burning wreck as it sank. men on the beach were cut down, exploding ammo and shrapnel causing a horrendous mess. The immense heat set off a few of the small tenders, which dissappeared very quickly. A few men tried to swim for the shore, but the rain of debris meant many of them were sliced up or dragged to the bottom.

Within 5 minutes a huge black column of smoke towered into the sky, while the sea below burned.

"Deactivate tube two, we wont be needing it for now"

"Aye sir"

(Took you long enough....) :p

The enemy retreat had become a rout. They had few weapons to mach the Nebarri tanks, but as one of their units entered a village, the Nebarri pursuit was distracted elsewhere as the fanatics holed up. When the Nebarris were finally able to enter, a hellish street-fight ensued, causing them to loose a handful of tanks but at the same time clearing out the last pocket of resistance.

Captain Roberts, pilot of Rochester 1-0, flew with the precision needed for insertions like this. The city of Mosk was just below him, and he could hear the excited chatter of the troops behind him. He lowered the Knighthawk to building level, and looking ahead, he maneuvered the chopper in and around buildings, weaving through the streets of Mosk. Gunfire from the rebels and fanatics below pinged off of the armor, with the occasional AP round piercing the 2 Inch thick armor plating. A mahinegun suddenly opened up, and the men in the cabin began to close the sliding doors on the side, usually left open. Pieces of the helo fell to the ground as it sped on it's way, heading for the center of the city, where the rondevous for the SkyCaptian troops was set at. Lowering the chopper, Roberts ordered the mini-gunners to open up and clear a landing zone. The rythmatic rattle of the guns and they discharged filled his ears, and he watched as the soldiers inside stepped out, and ran for cover. The chopper empty, Rochester 1-0 took-off, along with the rest of the flight.

The godamn fanatics didn't care anymore. They outnumbered the defenders ten-to-one, and they simply charged into them, guns blazing. Athiesist troops, out of ammo, either threw rocks at them, died trying, or surrendered- only to meet a fate worse than death. The Rochester soldiers, their morale high and having ammunition to spare, were soon cut off as the enemy advance moved past them.

He reloaded his clip, and continued firing. "I need supressive fire, over there!" "I need some ammo over here!" "Hey, a medic is really necessary here!" 4 SuperPumas flew over Imair, as he boarded a fith. Halos also flew over, carrying 40 men each, others travelled in friendly choopers.

after about 25 mins of flight time, Imair's chopper set down on a beach and he jumped out, followed by rest of his command squad. Wounded friendlys came in dribs and drabs, and were helped onto the choppers.

Explosions and gunfire boomed up ahead, there was a lot of smoke rising up. Imair squinted as the chopper powered up, blowing dust into his face.

"ADVANCE"

Troops broke from cover, onto the barrels of their SA-80's gleamed bayonets. 2 harriers rocketed past, seconds later, walls of napalm erupted 100 metres from the friendlys, other aircraft strafed the streets while sub and ship launched missiles slammed into buildings and roups of men, entrails after many of the explosions.

Imair reached a buildings where a unit of friendlys were taking cover, he grabbed the captain who was pumping round after round into the fanatics.

"hey, HEY i got a plan to hold em back, but it means blastin' your city."

He showed the officer a map, "we're here" he pointed, less than a block away was a thick red line, 2 blocks further than that was another, in between was crossed through with red pen. "flatten this, create a no-mans land, then shell the bastards, one of my submarines reported sinking a freighter, it was carrying howitzers, and anti ship missiles. anyway i need to find the man in charge of y'all before autherizing the bombardment. Where is he?"

The officer still looked a bit stunned as more and more marines clad in black charged past.

"where the hell is he?"

I'm assuming AMH is talking about Mosk.

You aren't authorized to blow up the city. There are enemies in open ground around the capitol that would make easier targets, and blasting the city would just turn it into rubble and make it harder to root out the rebels. The Allies learned that at Monte Cassino.

Mosk, Athiesist 4th Infantry Division

MOSK, BEFORE THE WAR, WAS a large but pleasant city of a couple million. The streets seemed to be paved with gold for the thousands of immigrants that came to the country every year. The fact was, all the nearby nations were terrible. War-torn, impoverished, despotic. The few that managed to escape came here, and the Athiesist government was glad to help them. They knew that if they were in the same position, they would want help too. Everything had changed. The world had turned litteraly upside down for them- they came to escape from war, and now they were in the middle of it.

Having no place to escape, the city's citizens clustered to the west, jamming the roads, their back to the seas against the fanatical onslaught of the rebels. Rumors had already leaked of terrible massacres in other cities, the militants blinding, raping, mauling, then mercifully killing all they captured. As the SkyCapt helicopters came to drop off their troops, men and women clung to the sides, hoping to get on board. One of them held on to the side against all odds as the chopper lifted off and headed out over the sea. Noone could help him- the door was locked shut. Inevitably, he was flung off into the sea as the helicopter picked up speed.

Observing all this, Chablenko could see that for once, he had a job to do, and that it would make a difference. For as long as he could remember, the officer's job was to command the troops, telling them to do things, saying that in battle they would put their life on the line, even though everyone "knew" that the battle would never happen. What had happened just a week ago had totally defied anyone's expectations. Now, he could see with his own eyes that when he had lied to them, saying that they had to keep doing their push-ups for when the war came someday, he was right.

It was hopeless, as everyone knew. There were too many of them out there, and Chablenko's men were practically out of ammunition. The SkyCaptians were merely sending reinforcements to show the world they had tried; they knew that all their men would die, and that it was merely something to put in the history books. Of course, doing nothing would be a worse loss.

Young Vasily came up to him, bedraggled, but commited. All those that had shown fear had already died off. "Comrade Commander," he made the effort to say, "the SkyCaptians have brought us a few magazines. They should be enough to arm some of the intact units." Good, he thought, at least we would then be able to say that we did not die throwing rocks at the enemy. "What's Arbanane's status?" Arbanane was only called that by Chablenko, who insisted on formality. Everyone else knew him as Arba. "R Company is holding south of the mall. They don't report any contact, sir." Chablenko recieved the impression that Vasily's every inkling took great effort to produce in a time like this.

"I'll be inspecting them. Vasily, stay here and deal with anything that comes up." His executive officer, Vasily only said "sir" half of the time- in this army, formality and tradition were kept to the minimum necessary. Instead, he simply turned away to walk toward the communications post to check if there were any messges while Chablenko remained standing there in the rain for a few seconds, the drops of water dripping down his green parka. Glancing at his watch, he saw that he had some time. The enemy advance would probably start up again around 2:00 if his intelligence was correct. As hard as it seemed to believe, the fanatics had a handful of traitors in their ranks. While their two commanders were again arguing over wives, one of them had decided to send over a snitch to inform the athiests of his rival's plans. It seemed the two men trusted each other too much to be allies, when both of them were betraying the other.

Time to saddle up. Chablenko would have to walk- the army's motor pool was long gone after the initial assault. Turning quickly and trotting to the mall, briskly as he always did, he noticed a few men along the way that he knew from the academy. In happier times, he would have said hi.

R Company, Arbanane's men, were well camoflauged. Folling proper procedure, their sentry requested the perimeter password and was given it. Arbanane was were he always was, having a chat with his lower-ranking officers. "Comrade! Nice to see you!" Arba was surprisinly well rested. Not surprising- they had not seen nearly as much savage combat as the rest of the brigade. "Take it easy, Arba. I came to look at your positions." "Take a seat, Arty." Chablenko preferred to be called by his family name, but he wasn't a stickler about it. Folding chairs had been set up, and sand had been spread across what looked like a beautiful, thousand-dollar mahogany table that had been commandered from the furniture section. "The manager's still here. He said he wanted to watch us to make sure we don't steal anything." There was no way to stop a depraved soldier from looting, however. The shelves were nearly bare.

Chablenko, Arba, and Arba's subordinates were sitting together in front of the enterance, the rest of the mall massive, but dark. In one word, "creepy".

Taking his finger, Arba drew a map in the sand on the table. "Here's the mall. In front of it, over here, is our security line, designated Barstool." Arba marked the line with BL, then its length- 2.5 M, or miles. "The security screen itself is made up of units from several companies other than ours. B Company is nearly worn out, so they put all their men into the northern screen because it dosen't take many men to do. We've decided to put most of our recon outposts here," he said, pointing north of the mall, "because we want them to think that that's our main defensive line is there. In fact, we don't have a single soldier in the north, or else we'd be spread too thin." It was a bluff. "Really, we have everything concentrated around here, to the center and north of the shopping mall. Our men have orders not to fire on their patrols so that we aren't discovered. Hopefully, they'll think that noone's home and will come charging right into our main defensive line." The fanatics weren't all that clever to begin with.

Arba was amazingly energetic. This is what had made him stand out in Officer School. If you asked anyone, they'd tell you he should have made it into the Academy. His record with cocaine had ruined that. Still, the army didn't want to snuff out rising stars completely, and had assigned him the lowly job of company commander, even though he had been in the service for two years and was perhaps the best person at his job in the whole country.

"Good plan," was all Chablenko could think of in his half-trance, longing for sleep. "I'm not finished yet," said Arba, enthusiastic as ever. He was a fairly tall man who looked more like a thug than a genius. He went on about the fire support plan. They had some air force assets on call. The Air Force had transferred most of its aircraft to the SkyCaptian aircraft carriers. Thank God, if he existed, that they had just happened to buy aircraft from SkyCapt, because if they hadn't they wouldn't have been able to land them. Their carriers had been able to make room for them, as they didn't set sail with a full load of aircraft. Now the few that were in good repair were sortieing out, preparing to pound their targets into submission. Chablenko had studied some SkyCapt at the academy, but found it a boring language. Still, they were their closest allies, and whether they spoke English or not, it was a popular thing to study.

With the meeting concluded, Chablenko requested to review the positions of the troops. "Let me show you, Comrade Brigadier," one of Arba's subordinates said. Arba introduced Chablenko to Oroman Bakiev, called Oroman by most. Commander of the 1st platoon, he had taken a walk earlier this morning on an errand for his commanding officer. That meant he knew where everything was. What has shocking was how joyful everyone was- no worries about the inevitable death that they would meet this very day.

Oroman liked to talk. Walking with him, you got the impression that he knew everything. Of medium height but slightly plump, Oroman could answer any question you could throw at him. He didn't speak in a monotone voice, so it was easy to zone him out. On the way to the forward air observer post, Chablenko asked him to hold there for a minute. He complied, and the Brigadier eyed a bench. Deciding that he needed a short break from the walking, he sat down, with Oroman looking on for a minute, then gazing down a corner. Brigadier Chablenko thought there was no problem with taking a few second's rest. He had walked a lot today. There was nothing wrong with resting your eyes either. Or laying down. Or taking a quick nap...

Without realizing it, he had fallen asleep.

--------------------

Across the valley, there was home. Flying through the air, he tried to find his family. Yes, there was the house, and he walked inside. But nothing was there. His academy diploma hanging on the wall, the football he had saved after making his first high school football touchdown, and of course the furniture, but nothing else. Opening a drawer, he found his dental records, his drivers license, a strand of floss that got there somehow. But noone was home. Suddenly, he heard a loud crack. Not knowing what it was, he was frightened. Shocked into paralysis. He heard a string of cracks, then a POP-POP-POP. Then a BANG- unbearably loud. And then a flash of light.

The flash seemed to change everything- he pulled his head up and looked down, and noticed he was laying on the bench. He felt he knew what was happening, but at the same time had no idea where he was.

"Comrade, get up, godammit!" Oroman had lost his friendly charm. Who was Oroman? Looking at him, he realized it- he had dozed off.

"Godammit, Arty, I didn't think I'd have to wake you up!" Arty swung into action, only to be overwhelmed with diziness. Then confusion swept over him, then fear, then a terrible fear, what felt like a realization of reality. But he forced it out. Recovered, he suddenly remembered where he was and what was happening. Another string of cracks, a man screaming. Feeling for his holster, Chablenko realized he had forgot his pistol. "Come with me!" As he got up, he met again dizzy.

First he had to find that place, whatever it was called. A small flash flew from a window, and bullets leapt down the street, finding their mark on one of the turbaned men. Staying close to the wall in case he had to jump in a door and take cover, Arty dashed into the house from where the shots came, assuming it was friendly. Bullets hit in his vicinity. "Cease fire! Cease fire!" he yelled in English, when they landed at his feet. Ignoring him, the firing man leaned out the window and emptied his magzine on Chablenko- only to stare, wide-eyed, when Oroman stared up and scolded him in English. The Brigadier looked at his bleeding hand. An instant later, he realized he shouldn't- it made the wound seem worse. He heard what sounded like a gunshot, then a body falling to the ground from high up. "Get inside! We'll get it patched up!" Chablenko endured the pain- any Academy graduate was taught discipline, especially in this situation. Oroman, half-panicking, dragged the man inside and up the wheelchair ramp. The building appeared to be some civil service structure, maybe the town hall even. If it was, it was amazingly ugly. So were all the buildings on the street- solid, concrete, and utilitarian. As he reached the top of the ramp, he gazed right. Men stood at the windows, alternatively ducking and shooting, cursed into action by their seargeant. He felt a sting on his wounded hand, but it wasn't that bad- Chablenko had transitioned into "fight mode".

Oroman was surprisingly skillful despite his fear. Telling Chablenko to clench his teeth, he tore off a piece of his undershirt and put together a field dressing. No time to put on antibiotics- the commander had a job to do.

The rain came back, the gray skies adding to the mood. Blood lay on the floor, but there were no bodies somehow. Maybe it was Arty's own. Getting up, Chablenko had no idea what to do. It just wasn't his job. Then he realized it- upstiars was supposed to be the air spotter, who probably had a radio. Running up the ramp again, he almost lost his balance and tripped. The floor was sleek and slippery, as the asbestos traction pads had worn off the steep wheelchair ramp. Reaching the next floor, he saw noone but a lone soldier, huddled in a corner, grasping his gun to his chest as if it was his life. There was no point in getting him to fight- the man would just be another dead man on the casualty list. Arty stole from him his walkie-talkie without difficulty and noticed it was already turned to a frequency. Holding it up with his undamaged hand, he spoke into it. "This is Papa Bear to Green Zone, come in." He was trying to contact Arba, the company commander he had met what seemed like days ago. As he waited for a response, he could hear the guns fire and see the rain race down the windows. "This is Charlie Zulu, say the pass, over." "This is Papa Bear, pass is Delta-Delta-Alpha." They wanted the perimeter password to make sure he was one of them and not a pretender. Soon later, he noticed Arba's voice. "Good to see you, Arty! Where are you?!" Amazing. The man was never exhausted. "Charlie Zulu, maintain your radio discipline, over." You weren't supposed to say names over the radio, lest the enemy be listening in. Oh, what the hell, he thought, its not like these rebels have radio intercept equiptment. "Roger, Papa. I'm at Hotel (the mall) and the forward detachments are reporting contact right in the center. Looks like the plan worked." That was another thing you don't say over the radio. Noticing his mistake, Arba soon after said, "Oh... sorry." He was acting like a child.

The fighting continued, but there was much less shooting now. "Charlie Zulu to Papa, seems like Peach." This was a traditional code for victory- when Chief Bogranin took the villiage of Atta hundreds of years ago, he is said to have feasted on peaches. It tended to have ethnic undertones- Bogranin was a Liliputian, and it was a victory over the Marche Noirians. It wasn't politically correct to say it in this context, but this nation was not known for political corectness. Not like being known for it was a good thing.

The battle seemed to be going well according to Arba, but it had to either be a lie or a misevaluation. It was simply impossible to win. They would win, no matter how long it took. There was no hope for the people that he had watched helplessly attempt to climb into the departing helicopters, flying away like bats out of hell, only to have one of their number fall into the sea. There was to be no mercy for the residents of this city. God was cruel.

Suddnely, Chablenko someone kick the door open. No.

Yes, it happened. Gunifire, then a howl of pain. He glanced right- the frightened soldier had ran up the steps. Chablenko was caught between two instincts- run or fight. He was paralyzed, not with fear, but with indecision.

It was to prove fatal when a turbaned man entered the room, brandishing his rifle, soaked by the rain, silhoutted against the dark sky visible through the window.

I think I should rap it up...

The AMH Marines entering Mosk met almost no real resistance. All their ammunition exhausted in last night's orgy of shooting, looting and firing off victory shots had turned them into a disorganized mass.

In the south, Nebarri and Atheisist soldiers had almost finished their destruction of the fanatics surrounding the capital. They were able to capture their command post, and after that, it could not be called a real battle.

Near Katanga Point, the fanatics, formerly unwilling to assault, now scattered and tried to set up camp in the deepest parts of the forrest. It was no longer time for open rebellion, but for insurgency.

All in all, the enemy collapsed today and decided instead to start a low-key terrorist movement. Medals will be given out, books will be written, but this will not be the last time that brave men will hear the sounds of battle.

Sparrow watched as the enemy fanatics began to move away. Gunshots could be heard far off, getting closer. He and his remaining men tensed, and took up positions, rifles aiming at the direction of the gunfire. Suddenly AMH troops ran towards them. They relaxed, and asked what was going on. When they learned Mosk was theirs, they gave sighs of relief. A helicopter flight came over, and began landing. Troops poured out, and Sparrow and his company began to load up for the long ride back to the Rampager. THeir fight was over.
----------------------------
Hillman ran past the buildings. Nothing. He ordered the rest of the men into the street. Nothing. They moved about, checking buildings. Each one was empty. The fanatics had apparently left. The squadron moved up, linking up with other squadrons, until the company was back together. Hillman counted his men. 396. Some of the lost troopers had been found. He was ordering the squadrons to split in pairs of 2 to search for the rest of the company, when a soldier came up. "Sir, you're wasting your time. I was with the rest of the men. These men you see," He gestured, "Are all that's left of those who went in." Hillman looked around. Out of the 180 had gone on, 76 had survived. Their fight, too, was over. He walked around, ordering the men to gather their stuff up. They were leaving this dead city.

The alliance has been gratefully accepted. However, notice that we have recently come into contact with an alien race, the eternals, and this may complicate things. (I'm not sure if im going to be FT, MT, or a little of both. The thread is called A New Nation's quest to Understand Space.)
