Torontian Presidential Elections 2020!

After the removal of the government of Jack Norton in April 2020 by the Torontian military in a coup, Colonel Vader Tanakis ruled Torontia for two months as dictator and then Colonel Tanakis handed over power to an interim government headed by Dr. Karl Buchanan.

President Buchanan has made good his offer to hold elections and now here they are!

It is truly a great thing to see democracy spring forth from your nation and such an honour to witness it's freedom expressed through what we hoep are free and open elections.

The greatest glory in heaven and earth is the freedom of the human soul and it is none more apparent then through the expression of one's own freedom as witnessed today.

Whilst it is the policy of my govenrment to remain impartial in foreign elections, please understand that with minimal intended offfence, I pray that whatever party is elected it will best serve the needs and ambitions of your people.

The candidates profiles and their policies:

Dr. Karl Buchanan (CCP): Dr. Buchanan has held the office of the Torontian Presidency for two months now and has proven to be a leader with great skill,consistency and a determination to overcome great odds.

Dr. Buchanan has the chairman of Torontia's Chamber of Commerce and is a well respected financial advisor and economist. Dr. Buchanan recieved his Phd in Finance Management and Settlements from Seattle City University.

Dr. Buchanan has made the following statements with regard to his programme, should he win the elections:

*Torontia can only become a democracy at a VERY SLOW place and that we should expect at least ten years before we can see a functioning democratic system working in our nation. Any overnight rush to democracy and giving to many rights to people will only make our nation divided and lead to chaos and civil war.

*Even under a democratic system, Torontia must have a political system that is reflective of our nation's Chrisitian heritage and one that will give the Holy Bible a solid foundation in our nations legal and political system.

*Family values must be upheld. Homosexuality must remian ILLEGAL as it is a sinful and decadent way of life. A tough approach to crime, vice, terrorism, loose sexuality and other evils must be fought with all the resources of the state.

*Economic freedom is the key to growth and jobs for all. All industries must be privatised and the state must get rid of all aspects of the welfare state as the poor need to help themselves out of poverty as the state is not there to look after social failures.

*Global trade and foreign investment must be ahcieved at all costs and workers wages and their striking/union rights must be cut in order to meet the global competion we face with other nations.

Colonel Vader Tanakis (NFP): Colonel Tanakis ousted Jack Norton in a military coup in April 2020 and ruled Torontia for two months at the head of a military junta until June 2020, when he handed over the office of the Presidency to Dr. Buchanan.

Colonel Tanakis now holds the rank of Colonel in the Torontian Army and is a specialist tactician in counter-insurgency and urban warfare.

Colonel Tanakis founded the National Fascist Party (NFP) after he left the Presidency and now aims to win the fascist struggle via the ballot box.

Colonel Tanakis has made the following statements with regard to his programme, should he win the elections:

*Democracy is corrupt and incompetent. A Fascist Corporatist State is what our great nation needs now more than ever.

*All enemies of our nation should be made to suffer for their treason and their plots against Tororntia.

*We need to work to secure the freedom of Mr. Paul Kaufman, our nation's greatest ever leader.

*All perverts, homosexuals, whores, drug users and dealers, thieves and rapists should be put to death.

*Military expansion and the development of nuclear weapons is what our nation needs.

*The development of relations with a Fascist Torontia and other Fascist and Nazi nations.

*A private sector dominated economy with the state owning only weapons and military based industries. Slave labour will help our economy grow and trade unions need to be banned.

David Norton (GLRP): David Norton is the straight younger brother of desposed President, Jack Norton. Jack Norton is openly gay and thus he is banned from running in these elections as gays cannot vote or run for office in Torontia.

David Norton aims to win the elections and give FULL democracy as soon as possible and to give all people full equality and civil and political rights and freedoms.

David Norton has made the following statements with regard to his programme, should he win the elections:

*Full democracy now! All parties including the still banned communist and socialist parties to be given freedom.

*Gay rights and eqaulity of all people. Legalise same sex marriage and gays should be allowed to adopt and raise children as a normal married couple.

*Legalise pornography, prostitution and recreational drugs.

*Trade union rights and a minimum wage for all people.

*Social security and free healthcare and education for all people.

*Energy industry, transport industry and stock exchange and National Bank to be nationalised.

*Promote global democracy and oppose dictatorships and work for WMD reduction in all nations.

*Destroy Torontia's WMDs and cut it's military to a smaller size.

Should Takanis become "President", we will be pissed, to say the least.

If it's the latter (which, frankly, I expect a lot more than the former), then I'd like it if you allowed him to escape into exile into Halberdgardia. I'm fine with letting him go for now in the elections, but please don't kill him off. Just so you know, I voted for Buchanan, because I'm afraid that Norton's drastic changes will just bring about another fascist regime like Tanakis'. Well Hal, lets not be too hasty, we do not know who has won yet and the poll will close on sunday.

With Buchanan, it's like this:

Buchanan was a government advisor to Kaufman and leader of the business community under Tanakis. Basically Buchanan is the moderate face of the Kaufman/Tanankis regime and despite his moderate language Buchanan is a hard right winger at heart.

Should Buchanan win and Tanakis come 2nd, Tanakis could get the Vice Presidency!

Buchanan aslo in private will see to it that democracy only VERY VERY SLOWLY comes into Torontia, much longer than he publicly admits. Even then, Buchanan's version of Democracy will be like that of RL Suharto's Indonesia, where the ruling party has a monopoly on the media and legal system and the opposition parties are more or less government run or sympathtic to it.

Basically, its the Kaufman/Tanakis system with a democratic icing on the cake to please nations like yours.

Should the fags win and get Norton into the Presidential Palace, who knows what would happen!

Maybe a certain Yassin Qattada of Global Jihad will get pissed off at all those sodomites and maybe nukes will go off in Torontia, who knows as of yet!

I urge you for help.

It seems that pro terrorist elements around the sodomite agenda of Jack Norton and his brother have made headways in the exit polls and look like they will win this election.

Given this, I would like to ask Halberdgardia if you can arrange for myself and Colonel Vader Tanakis to be allowed to go into exile from Torontia and seek haven in your nation.

Would it also be possible for the Halberdgardian to give President Tanakis and myself pensions for our time in office, we both need 12 million USD each to live on each year.

Also would Halberdgardia help us make things for the better, by 'altering' the elections to give the main opponent to Norton, Colonel Tanakis the election win and to see to it that Colonel Tanakis is restored to office.

It's important that you use the HCIA to help us get the government Torontians want and to stop Norton.

Once again, I ask for any help you can spare in this and that should the Torontian military have to take power again and restore military rule, that your nation gives such a move your full support.

Rumours are abound in the armed forces of another coup, this time everyone should back it, should it occur.

OOC: The troops are being brought in to maintain some sense of stability should the election results bring about another military coup, and unless you're Torontia posting under a different name, I don't believe you are in any place to dictate their policy.

With only a few more hours until the polls close, it's looks like that Colonel Vader Tanakis and the National Fascist Party (NFP) are heading for a comfortable victory.

The lead that David Norton had at the start of the election has now gone as Colonel Tanakis looks set to win with over 43% of the vote.

Earlier today, Colonel Tanakis said that should he win the Presidency, he would only take the office of Vice President and would be in office as an acting President to cover for the vacancey of former President Paul Kaufman.

Theoretically, Paul Kaufman will be the next President of Torontia within the next few hours.

Colonel Tanakis said that as soon as Paul Kaufman is freed from jail in Allenmande, Paul Kaufman would take up the Presidency and Tanakis would then take the Vice Presidency officially.

Should there be a last minute swing to Norton that would result in a tie, Colonel Tanakis said that in order to avoid another election or a second round of voting, he would create two offices for the Vice Presidency so that Colonel Tanakis and Dr. K. Buchanan would both be Vice Presidents with Paul Kaufman as President.

Dr. Buchanan's campaign team confirmed that Dr. Buchanan would accept this offer as a way of keeping out Norton from any position of political power and to ensure the preservation of the New Order political system.

Colonel Tanakis and Dr. Buchanan have both stated that after this election, there will be NO MORE ELECTIONS. The New Order of the Kaufman government and the MCNU government of Colonel Tanakis's first stay in office would be revived and that a Corporatist one party constitution would be drawn up for Torontia, leaving room for only one party with the others either dissolving themselves or the state security forces putting pressure to dissolve the other political parties.

The NFP, Colonel Tanakis's party and the CCP, Dr. Buchanan's party have both agreed to merge after the elections of form the New Order movement.

'Were they rigged?'

That is the question being asked by many people around McKagan today, in response to the outpouring of support that appeared from nowhere for the Nazi leader in Torontia, a wartorn country of religious fanatics.

The Imperial State Department isn't asking many questions yet, that we know of, only saying 'We will cooperate with other nations in the international community to investigate this, should any evidence of election fraud arrise.'

The Imperial McKagan Navy also made an annoucement today. 3 of the, somewhat secret, Cobalt Class Destroyers are headed to the fleet off the coast of Torontia. It maintains this is not a hostile move.

In other news.... reports of large, triangle shaped crafts moving out of Earth atmosphere in the deserts surrounding the famed "Omega Site" have spiked in recent weeks... many conspiracy theorists' think that it is a sign of an experimental spacecraft...

The results are in!

Colonel Vader Tanakis of the National Fascist Party (NFP) has won!!!

In second place was David Norton of the Gay and Lesbian Rights Party (GLRP).

Acting President, Dr. Karl Buchanan of the Conservative Christian Party (CCP) came last.

Here are the results of the Torontian Presidential Elections of August 2020:

Colonel Vader Tanakis (NFP) 43.48%

Jack Norton (GLRP) 34.78%

Dr. Karl Buchanan (CCP) 21.74%

In three days time, Colonel Vader Tanakis will attend the ceremony where he will take his Oath of Loyalty and be officially decleared the President of the Republic of Torontia.

This is a great day for Torontia, the People, the World and for global security and global freedom.

May Colonel Tanakis rule over our great nation for many years and decades to come!
