Ground War (FT)
Al-Imvadjah
07-09-2005, 21:02
Doesn't it seem like all FT is anymore is spaceships blasting eachother with rayguns? The humble infantryman and his armored cavalry brethren don't get any attention, except perhaps in storefronts or factbooks. But even then, they only exist to flesh out the nation and make it seem more real. So we're going to have an FT Ground War for taking a planet. There will be no plot, since the last attempt at this fizzled out when it came time to come up with a plot, only a four-on-four team extravaganza.
What you can bring:
One major character.
2/3 of what would be a standard planetary assault/invasion force for your nation.
Light air support (fighters, dropships, etc)
Mobile command base, with limited repair/construction facilities.

The Planet / NPCs
The Planet is a generic planet, with a good mix of desert, tropical, frozen, temperate, and urban settings. The cities were built by a generic humanoid race, which is hostile to all the invaders, but is technologically primitive (early WWII tech).
I'm in, although whether as Otagia or Khurgan remains to be seen. And yes, the plot really did kill it in the end, didn't it. That and I went to college and lost my link. That did it too...
Im in if you'll have me, by the way when you say 2/3 of what would be a standard planetary assault/invasion force for your nation does that mean if someone of my size say uses a 600,000,000 Strong force (support units included) then i would only be able to use 400,000,000 (support included).
Im just asking (im not shore how much of a force i would use to invade a planet i havent even sorted my Millitary numbers yet).

I mean that you can't have everything. You'll have to rely on your allies for something. It makes for a more interesting RP.
Also, this has no other IC effect on your nation. If your character dies here, or you lose 5 million elite soldiers, it doesn't matter elsewhere in NS roleplay. This is copletely seperate.
Lists updated.

Major character= somebody with a character sheild. IE somebody that by virtue of having a name is harder to kill and does amazing action-movie-hero things.
This could be a spy, a general, an uber-commando, etc.

Red team. Of course, my nation invades with 500-foot tall bio-monsters, and leaves nothing alive, which is more cost-effective than tanks and the like. Hard to control, but tremendously amusing, and it earns my government lots of money from pay-TV. (Oh, and their riders. Which are 100 foot-tall bio-monsters. Which, in turn, are ridden by 20-foot tall biomonsters. Which are ridden by humans)
Thank god for MAC guns and thier house-sized shells.

That settles it. Khurgan is in instead of Otagia.

Swarm: Ravager
One of the new biologically engineered fleets, created as the swansong for the Zegenthian scientists and engineers, this entirely organic army is generally uncontrollable, but both cheap, and easily renewable. However, the IFF system built into their neural networks is all that stops them attacking allied forces.
Command Unit
12 Lat'Rion Mobile Neural Control Networks; These units control the monsters, without these heavily shielded, armoured, and cloaked buildings, it would be nigh-impossible to control the Ravager Swarm. They also serve as frigate-class ships, when the neural pacifiers are disabled.
170 Rahalid Neural Broadcasters; These amplify the signals sent from the Lat'rion units, and make the monsters more controllable.
2,200 Hive Orbs The mammoth Hive Orbs, as big as a city, at least, contain the DNA required to fleshform the creatures. These, in essence, 'carry' the creatures, or grow them, and spit them out when they are created. Hive Orbs are vulnerable to most weaponry, and dissolve in a matter of days, once they create the last of the creatures inside them.
275 Arrogance air superiority fighters - In essence, a space fighter adapted to gravity, these powerful craft have shields, cloaking devices, excellent generators, and FTLTele drives, in essence, a short-range teleporter. They are used solely for defending Rahalid and Lat'rion units, but are generally superior to any enemy craft, although lacking sorely in numbers.
Flying Bio-Units
Yattok Pterans; The Yattok flying beasts are much like dinosaurs, although smaller. They are merely 64cm in length, but have claws fashioned of Ylltak, a powerful, light metal, which has the ability to incisor its way through armour, and can spit a poisonious substance, which infects via absorption, and creates deadly hallucinations, as well as eating away at the muscle tissue.
Numbers: 750,000
Breed: No
Sentient: No
Freeish Iiilyiad; Freeish are huge, pacific flying beasts, used as transports, as their 25 metre-long bodies let them look like dragons, and the weaponry mounted on them makes them even more so. The few humans in this operation generally used turrets mounted on Freeish, as well as carrying Rahalid broadcasters, to keep up the ferocity and unity of the troops. Freeish have tough underbellies, and huge, vulnerable wings, although their twelve wings will generally keep them up no matter what, as they are hard to hit, with the plate of Plasteel underneath, to prevent the wings being hit. They can carry immense weights, and are not averse to anyone riding them, so it may be better to capture rather than kill these gentle beasts.
Numbers: 12,000
Breed: No
Sentient: Yes, Benelovent
Ground Bio-Units
Igno Furicious; Igno-saurs are velociraptors, with a few vital differences. Firstly, they have a strange type of tissue, which generates heat, and acid, which allows them to stream fiery acid out through twin sprayers, underneath the mouth. This generally does not burn through armour, very well, but is exceedingly deadly to any nearby organic components, such as flesh, other bio-units, and flesh-made things. Igno breeds at a voracious rate, with a single female being able to bring forth two young a week, and young maturing in little over a month. In this way, a single Igno male and female can easily bring back their entire race, left unchecked. However, they do not breed unless unrestrained.
Numbers: 13,000
Breed:Yes
Sentient: No
Sharvon Iccarus: The third of the five bio-types, Sharvon Iccarus is a one-hundred and fifty-metre tall monstrosity, with over five hundred arms, six gaping maws, and can run at over a hundred metres a second, this creature is dangerous, although short-lived. It has a huge base, and consumes much, not to mention the 65 cm-85cm thick armour, and resistance to energy-based weaponry. Sharvon can breed quickly, and are sentient, although the sentience is restrained by the Command Unit, as is their breeding. A mere six hundred Sharvon have been brought, as their corrosive breath easily affects allies and enemies alike, and the ichor that pours out of their claws likewise, and a IFF system is worthless to these creatures, as they are so huge. They have a weak point near the base of their skull, where only 5cm of armour lies
They are generally used as siege units, and nothing more, as only their myriad tentacles on the 'arms' can be used against smaller troops. They are also used as anti-tank, and anti-air units, as they have a huge reach, and unwary pilots may find themselves snatched out of the sky.
Numbers: 600
Breed: Yes, 6 weeks of incubation, 12 weeks to maturity.
Sentient: Yes, Benevolent
Underground Bio-Units
Breeder - Breeders create new units, based on battle situations, and fleshform them, and release them onto the battlefield. They are generally situation far underground, or underwater, depending on what they are breeding. This is what the remains of 10 Hive Orbs become, as the remaining DNA joins togethor to form a breeder. In this way, the troops become adaptable, and battle is sure to be won.

What are you doing on my team Imperium scum? :p
We're supposed to be mortal enemies, and the Darchon is not gonna like working with Remiel at all...
Haven't yet decided the numbers in which I'm fielding units, but at least I can tell you a few types.
Legionnaire of Change
The equivalent to an Imperial Guardsman. Armed with a lasgun and flak armor
Tzaangard
The Khurganate's answer to Space Marines, the Tzaangard are especially gifted by the Lord of Change. Standing head and shoulders above a mere mortal, the Tzaangard wear power armor, covered with runes of devotion. They are armed with bolters or storm bolters and chainswords. Loaded with Inferno rounds, the bolt-weapons tear burning holes in the enemy ranks.
Rubric Guard
Not content with his servants passing beyond the mortal realm after their death, Helion devised a spell that would capture the souls of his Tzaangard in their armor upon their deaths. Risen from the dead, these haunted suits of armor must be hacked apart before they will start fighting.
More to come, as well as exact numbers.
