It was a Wednesday morning, on the Zeeland/Celtayoshi boarder. The sun had risen but a hour ago, and already the temperatures were soaring. Recently it had come to light that the nation of Zeeland had begun to fall into anarchy. There had been clashes on the street between rival tribes, and remaining government forces. Refugees had been pouring across the border into Celtayoshi for weeks now. All the while the Central Government in Celtayoshi had deemed this unaccpetable. As a result for the past few weeks Celtayoshi had been preparing its own army to move into Togo and Benin. It was to be a short, local conflict, with no more than four weeks to capture both Lome and Porto-Novo. From there they would skirt around the border, effectively surrounding the country, before moving inwards, and constructing border defences. Resistance was expected to be weak at best, although most would fight to the death. This meant the Celtayoshi army would take no chances. Tanks and other armoured vehicles lined up in columns, ready to roll into the cities, and take out any resistance, the Air Force would also demolish any areas of rebel fighters.
Today was to be the day. Two days earlier Celtayoshi had made it known it was to invade Zeeland, and at 0900 hours its massive convoy surged forward. The noise was impressive, as the columns of tanks moved forward, artillery began to shell the border defences of Zeeland, to remove any former government forces still clinging onto hope that they might repel the invaders.
As the mighty Celtayoshi 1st African Army (ORBAT to follow) rolled across the border in five different places they faced no resistance until midday. Soon after 1200 the army stopped and waited. Intelligence had reported a large gathering of Zeeland army forces dug in to hold back the advancing Celtayohians. They would be encircled by the 1st Army, with only the most Northerly of the five armies contining the advance further. The Celtayoshi Forces were due to attack at 1500.

It was now confirmed, the Zeeland government had officially fallen. With that news came the peaceful surrender of 125,000 former Zeeland Soldiers to the Celtayoshi Army. They had been almost totally surrounded by Celtayoshi Forces, and with news of the demsie of their government they lost the will to fight. Unfortunately this created the small problem of holding this soldiers as Prisoners of War until the end of conflict. To combat this probelm the reserve force was called through to build a temporary holding centre for the troops. It had been agreed that these soldiers would be released back into civilian life after the conflict, or alternatively they could join the Celtayoshi Army.
The surrender of these troops peacefully meant that the Army could progress onward quickly. Lomo was now within sight of the Celtayoshi Army. The Generals in charge of this operation were debating how best to proceed. After all the various areas of the city would be in control of rival factions, and the Cetlayoshians would almost be fulfilling a peacekeeping role. In the end there was only one answer. They would progress street by street and remove any pockets of resistance, securing first of all the nearby airport for Air Force Operations.
Meanwhile the remaining reserve force not involved in holding POWs would march north to take the city of Manga, in bid to progress operations ahead of schedule.
A further Expeditionary Force was called up in case reserves where needed in the Togo/Benin conflict. These consisted of part of the 2nd Celtayoshian African Army. A Carrier Task Force Group was also dispatched to the city of Accra in Ghana. This was purely a precautionary measure to boost the overall Celtayoshi Forces in the area.

Initially the Celtayoshi troops met no resistance, they moved quickly from house to house, searching rapidly for any weapons, with over 500,000 men involved in this assault they could afford to do this. As they progressed they came under light fire, gradually becoming more intense. By about midday the fire had become concentrated on the Celtayoshi Soldiers, but still they advanced.
The soldiers had used their tanks to destroy any pockets of resistance, and then infantry moved in, whilst snipers where placed onto the roof tops. Occasionally helicopters would strafe overhead, unleashing a volley of fire from their miniguns.
At nightfall the Soldiers stopped advancing, and now concentrated on fortifying this area of the city. Roads where blocked and checkpoints setup else where, no-one would get in or out without the knowledge of the Celtayoshi Army.
At dawn they advance further, and by the end of the second day the sheer weight of numbers had caused Lomé to fall. Celtayoshi was now technically in control of Togo, although most cities areas would require suppression, this would follow at a different time. For the moment the Military Police would patrol the streets, shooting troublemakers on sight.
The Army now advanced further, with Aného the last Togo city to be targetted before the invasion of Benin. The Celtayoshi Air Force was busy patrolling the skies over both territories, which had been closed to airtraffic. This would prevent any allies coming to the aid of Togo and Benin without the permission of Celtayoshi. Initially in Benin the cities and towns of Grand Popo, Ouidah and Porto-Novo would be captured. At this point Celtayoshi would declare its war over, and any further action woul dbe taken under the classification of 'Domestic Restoration of Law and Order by the Security Forces of Celtayoshi.'

OOC: Damn me being so busy!
IC: Following the successful capture of Togo, the Celtayoshi Army then progressed into Benin. They were ahead of schedule, since half of the Army had went up North.
What they had found in Togo was nothing short of a humanitarian disaster. Following the collapse of the government all welfare programs had stopped, rival tribes decimated each others villages, and there was no food to be had. This situation was totally unacceptable, and so the Celtayoshi government announced a 1trillion CYSC aid package to help feed the nation. Furthermore, another 250,000 troops would be deployed in a Peace Keeping capacity. They were part of Celtayoshi's latest initative to stop unnecessary bloodshed, they were called the International Peacekeeping Force, although initially they were only Celtayoshi troops, and in total there was 750,000 men, ready to be deployed anywhere in the world should any antions need them. They had been well trained in how to win over the support of the population, and what to do if there was a lack of co-operation.
The Food Aid began arriving within the week, and all over Medical Tents where setup, some of these would later become permenant hospitals. In time there would also be a shift away from farming communities, since the land here was unprofitable, and other land nearer the coast, or other areas of Celtayoshi was more fertile. Instead more jobs would be created, probably in the manufacturing and primary sectors, to make this one of the pillars upon which Celtayoshi built its strength.

Benin was on the verge of falling. It had really been all to easy, they met little resistance until the major towns, and then systematically eliminated all the opposition. This was a textbook invasion on a territory in anarchy, and would earn the Generla in charge an tidy little bonus for delivering the territories ahead of the preplanned schedule and with minimal military and civilian losses. The Forces would now be seperated into variuos areas which they were patrol until such time as the Peacekeeping Force arrived and relieved them, as did the Military Police. The Peacekeepers would be phased out after that, when the normal Police Force took over, and the finally the Military Police would depart, leaving the territory secure for proper rule by the government. Elections were due for a years time, when a the Celtayoshi Parliament was to be almost doubled to 1500 seats, to reflect the growing population. Measures were already underway to ensure that the elections would meet the required standards for fair and free elections, reconised by international standards

Secret IC: There was no rest for the weary though, plans were already underway to extend Operation African Bloom into two further countries, also on the verge of descending into anarchy. These were Sierra Leone and Cameroon. The Celtayoshi Navy would be called in on this one, as would the Air Force, preliminary Air Strikes were set to begin in four days, a public annonucement was due anytiem soon, stating clearly Celtayoshi's invasion plans.

Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeepers had successfully quelled a minor uprising after in the outskirts of Kankan. The situation was tense, but less so than a few hours ago. The citizenry viewed these foreigners with suspicion, but many were grateful the thugs and looters that were roaming the streets had been dealt with.
E. Guinea/Cameroon Border:
Soldiers of the 1st Federal Peacekeeping Division (approximatelly 9,000 soldiers) were under fire from guerillas north of the border. Snipers and mortars wrecked havok on the Bjornoyan troops and their hastily made defenses. These troops were trained to deal with civil unrest, and urban combat, not jungle warfare.
"We need support, call up the cavalry."
"Yes, sir"
The radioman relayed coordinates to the Bjornoyan carrier Inspiration, who made the long trip with the peacekeepers to E.Guinea a month ago. Within 25 minutes, three A-10A Thunderbolts dropped their payloads among the foilage. The trees flickered earily as the flames spread.
Esthar: Bjornoyan Capital:
After being presented the information from E. Guinea, Patriarch Rand gave orders to allow Federal Troops to make their way into Cameroon to search and destroy the guerillas responsible for this attack. Staying on the border would not be an option, they would go through the same probelm every day. Sedaht Rand was disgusted by the amount of chaos that so much of the world was succumbing to. Sedaht was vaguely familiar with the Knights Templar, but could not understand why any of their forces might have attacked Bjornoyan troops.

IC: Celtayoshi State News
The Celtayoshi Air Force has today begun large scale bombing of Cameroonian lands. At approximately 0530 this morning long range strike bombers based out of Accra Air Force Base swooped out to sea in the Gulf of Guinea and came back over TKT territory to release several tons of ordinace over coastal Military Installations. The Ministry of the Armed Forces has said around 10 such raids have occured from bombers based out of Ghana, and will continue to do so for a number of days yet. The Ministry has also informed us that a total blockade of the waters around Cameroon exists, there have been no reported casulties on the Celtayoshi side, and no naval engements as of yet, this is excluding the Naval Air Force, which is currently supporting bombing operations. The death toll on the TKT side is expected to be high, although civilian casulties are limited.
Reports of fighting on the E. Guinea/Cameroon border have been denied by the MinAF, but they did not rule out foreign invovlement.
Meanwhie, the Under-Premier has today issued a statement giving the current Cameroon government 48 hours to hand over power to Celtayoshi, or face invasion. A similar ultimatum was issued to the governemnt of Sierra Leone.

Soldiers of the 3rd Federal Peacekeeping Division had fought their way through thick jungle and guerillas for four days. Continued airstrikes from the Inspiration helped clear most resistance. General Jovinshka, commander of the Federal forces in E. Guinea, recieved reports that confirmed, thorugh bodily remains, the guerillas responsible for the attack in northern E. Guinea were of TKT origin.
Complicating matters was the now open involvement of Celtayoshi forces. 3rd Division Bjornoyan Federal troops waited 2 km away from the coastal city of Kribi. Orders to secure the city had been retracted since the port was under bombardment.
Worried of what might happen if Bjornoyans encountered Celtayoshi forces, General Jovinshka sent a message to the Celtayoshi fleet from the Inspiration explaining the intent of the Bjornoyan expedition:
Bjornoyan Peacekeeping troops have advanced into Cameroon with the intent of eliminating the TKT threat against our territory of E. Guinea, and to secure a defensive perimeter within Cameroon to stifle any rebelious factions.
Meanwhile, the 1st Division was cautiously making its way towards Yaounde. They had only made minimal progress, due to the constant airstrikes that were being called in to take care of TKT troops. The division had lost over 200 soldiers during the advance on the Templar defenders, and had only made about 50km of progress.

The Bjornoya message was forwarded to fleet command, and then again to the General in charge. He then decided to pass the message one step higher, where it reached the Premier's ears. The order was relayed back down the command chain, Cameroon would be conquered in its totality.
The following message was dispatched to Bjornoya:
Celtayoshi Forces begining invasion, tactical objectives will be completed. Request urgently information regarding Bjornoyan intentions in Cameroon.
Meanwhile, the CYSIS had noiw confirmed the position of the 3rd Division Bjornoyan Federal Troops to be approximately 2 kilometres away from Kribi, a southern coastal city. In reponse to this 1000 Celtayoshi Marines led an assualt on the coast just North of Kribi, and maintained a position whilst they waited for support to come. This support would be in the shape of the 117th Armoured Cavalry, when it made its way down, mostly by airlifting and naval transport.
It was also essential that the Celtayoshi troops capture Yaoundé, because if there were a partition of the land then the best infrastructure was in the capital. Unfortunately the capital was deep in the centre of the land, and only the 67th Paratroopers could anywhere near the city. They were duely airdropped in at night, and began to dig in, 10km south of Yaoundé. They were in a dangerous position, with TKT troops to the North, and BJYN troops to the south. Airstrikes were now essential over this area, to keep advancig forces at bay, although as of yet no moves had been made to attack Bjornoyan forces.

Bjornoyan reply
Primary objective: Eliminate the TKT guerillas responsible for attacks in E.Guinea through means of 1st and 3rd Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeeping Divisions stationed in E. Guinea.
Secondary Objective: Secure reasonable border within Cameroon to prevent further attacks and eliminate any possibility of similiar situations happening in the future.
Bjornoya has no want to trifle with Celtayoshi forces. For the moment we are concerned with eliminating the TKT forces. Secondary objective is negotiable and can only be accomplished after threat has been dealt with.

Celtayoshi High Command willing to negotiate Cameroon Border as follows (named by capital city, using this map http://cameroon.africa-atlas.com/pictures/cameroon-map.gif):
Celtayoshi - Maroua, Garoua, Ngaoundéré, Yaoundé, Bafousam, Buea.
Bjornoya - Bertoua, Ebolowa
Douala will be awarded to Bjornoya, but the capital city Douala shall be given to Celtayoshi, with a major motorway to link it with Buea built by Celtayoshi.
Celtayoshi will withdraw troops from Kribi, and Bjornoya shall withdraw troops from Yaoundé should this be agreed.
Note, Celtayoshi shall guarantee no guerilla forces cross this border, and will seek to eliminate all such forces, before scaling down border patrols to normal peacetime levels.

Within two days, the 3rd Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeeping Division had secured Kribi. The demoralized populace was resentful towards the occupying powers. However, seeing as many of their facilities were destroyed during bombing raids, the majority of the citizens were more concerned with re-building fresh-water lines and getting the port operational again. The well disciplined peacekeeper fortified themselves within the city limits, where they would have an advantage due to their urban combat training.
The 1st Federal Peacekeeping Division had blitzed through the guerilla infested jungles towards Bertuoa. The division secured two roads for supplies direct at the forward troops.
The Inspiration continued to pound TKT defensive positions. Bjornoyan troops would be patient, time was not of importance for the moment. As soon as the defenses were softened up, they would advance through the city.

Meanwhile, Celtayoshi had begun to erect a border long barbed wire fence. This was a temporary measure to ensure that people used the official checkpoints. It was patrolled regularly by armed helicopters. At Douala, the isolated city, Celtayoshi began to construct a massive edge of City boundary, in accordance with the Treaty. This city would become a major maritime link for Celtayoshi, since it was in a very prominant position.

After three days of guided air-strikes against TKT defenders within Bertuoa, soldiers of the 1st Federal Peacekeeping Division secured the city with limited casualties. Supplies and re-enforcments poured in from the south.
3rd Division soldiers left a about a third of their forces in Kribi and advanced to Douala province to secure the area, leaving the city to Celtayoshi forces. Mechanized infantry made the its way through the region.
5th Division Federal Peacekeepers sent from Esthar port disembarked in E. Guinea to help secure Bertuoa province. Within a few days, they would be in Bertuoa to finish off the TKT guerillas and restore order to the shaken province.
General Jovinshka started recruitment programs on Bioko and E. Guinea for qualified individuals to join an E. Guinea Peacekeeping Division. Given the recent findings on Bioko, many joined. Once trained, they could relieve some of the stress being placed entirely on Bjornoyan Federal troops from the mainland.

Due to hostilities in the Pacific all Celtayoshi Forces had been sent to the highest alert. This now meant that In Africa the Celtayoshi Army was rapidly installing Type - 2 Defences across the Country (see below). The Air Force and Navy were also called up to higher alert, and patrols were now regular and frequent over all Celtayoshi territory. This was bad b#news for any TKT troops still remaining, which were now mercilessly pounded by air and land until they surrendered. Infact, two new large Prisions had to be constructed to deal with the large influx of Prisoners of War.
Celtayoshi Military Doctrine - Defence of State
...
4.5.2 Type - 2 Defences
Type - 2 Defences consist of large scale construction of Military Checkpoints, Bases, Airfields and where appropriate, Navy Ports. These should be of the prefacbricated style, which are robust but easy to assemble. Type - 2 Defences should also include countrywide Air Defence Bunkers and Army Bunkers positioned in strategic positions for the defence of important areas, for example cities, mountain ranges, airfields, and ports.
At least one heavy permentant foritification should be constructed per 5,000,000 people or where appropriate.

With Cameroon pretty much wrapped up the Celtayoshi Army began to scale down its presence. Now a force of 250,000 troops was left in place to patrol the country and maintain order, whilst a border guard established to control this. Work was started on the new rail and road link between Celtayoshi's isolated city in the west and the rest of the country. In addition to this, further transport links and importantly jobs where created with the proposed construction of a brand new airport in each city or more than 1,000,000 people.

General Jovinshka was astounded at the turn-out. Nearly 7,500 citizens of E.Guinea had signed up for the Peacekepping Division, and more were pouring in. Wither it was the findings in Bioko, or the luxury life of the Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeepers that attracted so many, he did not know. The 1st, 3rd, and 6th FPD's were finishing up the guerilla problems in Cameroon, while the 10th, 11th, 14th, Federal Peacekeepers fortified themselves in Equatorial Guinea.
Some Bjornoyan freemasons were sent down with the second wave of troops to search the populace for the best leadership available. Until their investigation was through, the territories would be governed by the general in charge of the Federal Peacekeepers in the region.
Along with the normal peacekeeping divisions, two armored and two marine divisions were sent down with the 10th, 11th, and 14th to support the peacekeepers. Although the peacekeepers were as well trained as the normal soldiers, they had gone through specific behavioral modification classes as to make sure they did not treat the citizenry as poorly as they treat the enemies of Bjornoya. These more military-oriented divisions would help relieve the physical and mental strains of the peacekeepers.
Visara Corporation had sent down a few surveyors to check the possibility of creating a few resorts along the coast of E. Guinea and southern Cameroon.

Message to Bjornoya
The government of Premier Németh, leader of The Allied States of Celtayoshi, herby extends the hand of friendship with Bjornoya but offering a Non-Aggression Pact between our two nations. As well as that, we would seek to encourage further diplomatic and economic ties by opening up an embassy in your nation, and invite you to do the same. We further propose the establishment of an air link between our two nations, and the opening of our city of Douala to Bjornoyan trade and export through the port, by lowering tariffs to minimal levels.

Allowing free trade will not only strengthen the economy, but help stabilize the conflict-torn region. Hopefully the commerce will bring a sense of normalcy and security back to the citizens.
E. Guinea has many possibilities in the north and south for creating an air-link.

All these facilities belong to the government owned Institute of Technology Research. All we can recomend is that you appoint a Scientific Liason Officer to each post, we will see what we can fix up, perhaps some visits to our facilities or oppertunities to view new breakthroughs. We mostly specialise in military hardware, and this will be stepped up following the defeat of Caledonia, we don't want to be caught out again.
