Sol System, Near Mars

It was nearing the end of President Drake Rille’s term in office. He had screwed up, royally. He was abandoning the Sol Territories. Already, the massive structures under the surface of the moon which had been the home of Siesatia for almost 80 years were shutting down. Their massive reactors were grinding to a halt, the weapon turrets hung limp in the cradles as power left the plasma conduits.

Even the massive Outstations, which had for so long been hubs of trade, and living quarters for over a quarter of the Siesatian Population, were being shut down. Station 12, the largest of them all, was also the last. Whatever could be taken, had been… The last few officers were overseeing the final stages of the shutdown.

“Hey! HEY! Get away from the converters!” Commander Odala yelled at one of the workers, who had been salvaging one of the computers that controlled power distribution. Odala couldn’t believe it, Station Twelve had been his command, his home for 40 years, who did Rille think he was! In four years he wouldn’t even be President.

“Commencing Final Shutdown, good bye commander.” The station computer announced…

So, it was not a massive space battle, or strike by a meteorite that brought the station to its end… it was the slow death of the discharging capacitors, and slow depressurization of her decks…

400 Years And Counting!

Sol System, Near Mars

Station 12 sat in clear view, she was pockmarked by almost 400 years of asteroid strikes and pirate incursions, in sections, her hull had depressurized. But even from a short range, you could see what had once been the biggest space station in Sol.

The USS Second Chance sat, her spotlights bathing sections of the massive station’s docking ring. Already the ship’s engineers and mechanics were readying the equipment needed… Their mission was to rendezvous with the Northrop-Grumman vessel, and to salvage the station. The station was the largest in the Sol System, and had been laid claim to by several nations, but Siesatia had always exerted that it was of Historical Significance, and would not be ceded to any other nation.

Now, the threat had come again, another nation wanted the station, and refused to back down. It was decided by the Scientific Council, that the station had for too long sat in darkness. An expedition would be sent to repair and restore the station, and defend her from enemy attack. Northrop Grumman, a longtime ally of Siesatia, and fellow ESUS member was contacted, and agreed so long as they had a partnership in the running of the station.

The Second chance was loaded with all the supplies needed to make the critical functions of the base functional. It was also loaded with 50 of the finest Dragon Knights and Some marines. There was almost a 100% possibility of pirates on the base. And they would not give up their prize easily. The Second Chance was also loaded with a massive Main Gauss Cannon, 2 cluster missile launchers, and a couple smaller ion turrets. She was not a warship, but she would hold her own.

The NGSS Kent Kresa was the newest vessel in the entire fleet, but was unfinished in many areas because it had been rushed out of construction in order to ferry supplies and other vital needs to the Halladi people after their devastating war a few weeks earlier. Once it had completed its humanitarian duties, it orbited Earth for some time until it received new orders to aid the Siesatians in retaking their space station near Mars. The Kent Kresa was quickly loaded with equipment and other technical personnel. Then, after much pressuring from the Commandant of the Marine Corps and the Chairman, the vessel took aboard a company of Marines, the first time ever in the history of the fleet.

Within a matter of hours, the Kent Kresa departed Earth orbit and set course to rendezvous with the Second Chance.

OOC:
tell me if i do anything wrong.

IC:

Star Marshal D'Allaire sat in the commander's seat, staring into space from the horizontal glass dome sitting in front of the bridge. His fleet was returning from a large scale action against the Mormon Terrorists.

"Sir, I'm receiving comm signals."

D'Allaire stood and walked to the comm officer's station.

"Short wave frequencies, sir, they appear...to be talking about the abandoned Station 12....They're going to salvage it!"

The Star Marshall thought about this. For a long time, The Red Star Federation of Yugoamerica had laid claim on the Sol Territories, but it had recently become a null argument, with no star empire willing to waste the the effort on the system.

But now, it could be a place for troubles.

"Change course, jump to the sol system."

----------------------------------

The fleet appeared out of jump space, on the outer edge of the system.

"Send a broadcast through the system:
'This is the Red Fleet Vessel Achilles. We have laid claim to this system, all other ships are intruders in territory rightfully belonging to the Red Star Federation.'"

D'Allaire sat down and awaited a response.

OOC: I would have liked a TG asking first. But it is fine.

Message to Achilles:

Pirates, Station 12 is legal property of the Unified Worlds of Siesatia. It is an item of major historical value, and will be refurbished to once again serve and protect the trading fleets in the area. Any attack on our ship will be an act of war. Do not believe us so undefended as to not be able to deflect your attacks.

Message to Nortrop-Grumman:

We have been contacted by a vessel designated the Achilles. They claim Station 12 as their own. We are currently preparing to board the station.

As the Kent Kresa neared Station 12, the commander of the vessel received a transmission from the Siesatians, which was immediately replied to.
Status understood. We will be arriving momentarily.
After the message was sent, the commander gave the order for the Marines to prepare to board the station. They hustled out of their quarters, quickly put on their power armor, and began readying their weapons. Meanwhile, their boarding ships were moved out into the hangars where they would be prepared to launch.

The Second chance was glowing faintly blue as power transfered from her main batteries to the docking computer... Power flowed through space, across a seamingly solid beam, and being absorbed by a bit of metal that seemed to absorb even light.

Inside, long dormant machines and systems became active. Several banging noises could be heard, resounding throughout the entire station, that was before a loud Huming sound started. Power flowed through the docking systems. Lights activated, and air began circulating throughout the dock...

"We got it Captain!" The science ensign announced happily.

"Good work. Open the main doors." Captain Drake Morgan asked. A moment later, the door before their ship began to slowely open. "This is too easy! We'll have this rustbucket ship shape before the next quarter!" he said resolutly...

Suddenly the door stopped opening, and the landing lights failed. The batteries had long ago deteriorated, it was lucky they held this long. However, There was still a pressure door between them and the station...

"Damn it!"

"Sorry Sir, we still have the port airlock. We can just run alongside with the pressure door, and extend it to cut a hole in the second door."

"Do it." Drake said... he had been hoping to get the docking systems intact. it would only make the entire operation that much harder.

The massive hull of the Kent Kresa moved into position near the Second Chance. Its landing bays began to extend out from the sides of the vessel. In them were the Marines in their spacecraft preparing to board the space station along with the technical personnel.

The commanding officer of the Kent Kresa, General Thomas Pannell asked his sensors officer, “What are the Siesatians up to now?”

“It looks like they’re trying to get inside the station but are having a little trouble, sir.”

“Understood.” The general pressed a button on the armrest of his command chair to record a transmission to be sent to the Second Chance.
Do you require any assistance getting inside the space
station? We have several drones and other repair craft that
can be used for that purpose.

Do you require any assistance getting inside the space

Message:

Negative. We are going to have to cut through the docking bay doors to get inside. We were only able to get the blast doors open.

General Pannell sighed before he sent out the next transmission. He did not really like going on these sort of missions. They were almost always boring. But orders are orders, he thought
Very well, then. We are nearby if you require any assistance.
