Sol System, Near Mars
It was nearing the end of President Drake Rille’s term in office. He had screwed up, royally. He was abandoning the Sol Territories. Already, the massive structures under the surface of the moon which had been the home of Siesatia for almost 80 years were shutting down. Their massive reactors were grinding to a halt, the weapon turrets hung limp in the cradles as power left the plasma conduits.
Even the massive Outstations, which had for so long been hubs of trade, and living quarters for over a quarter of the Siesatian Population, were being shut down. Station 12, the largest of them all, was also the last. Whatever could be taken, had been… The last few officers were overseeing the final stages of the shutdown.
“Hey! HEY! Get away from the converters!” Commander Odala yelled at one of the workers, who had been salvaging one of the computers that controlled power distribution. Odala couldn’t believe it, Station Twelve had been his command, his home for 40 years, who did Rille think he was! In four years he wouldn’t even be President.
“Commencing Final Shutdown, good bye commander.” The station computer announced…
So, it was not a massive space battle, or strike by a meteorite that brought the station to its end… it was the slow death of the discharging capacitors, and slow depressurization of her decks…
400 Years And Counting!

Sol System, Near Mars
Station 12 sat in clear view, she was pockmarked by almost 400 years of asteroid strikes and pirate incursions, in sections, her hull had depressurized. But even from a short range, you could see what had once been the biggest space station in Sol.
The USS Second Chance sat, her spotlights bathing sections of the massive station’s docking ring. Already the ship’s engineers and mechanics were readying the equipment needed… Their mission was to rendezvous with the Northrop-Grumman vessel, and to salvage the station. The station was the largest in the Sol System, and had been laid claim to by several nations, but Siesatia had always exerted that it was of Historical Significance, and would not be ceded to any other nation.
Now, the threat had come again, another nation wanted the station, and refused to back down. It was decided by the Scientific Council, that the station had for too long sat in darkness. An expedition would be sent to repair and restore the station, and defend her from enemy attack. Northrop Grumman, a longtime ally of Siesatia, and fellow ESUS member was contacted, and agreed so long as they had a partnership in the running of the station.
The Second chance was loaded with all the supplies needed to make the critical functions of the base functional. It was also loaded with 50 of the finest Dragon Knights and Some marines. There was almost a 100% possibility of pirates on the base. And they would not give up their prize easily. The Second Chance was also loaded with a massive Main Gauss Cannon, 2 cluster missile launchers, and a couple smaller ion turrets. She was not a warship, but she would hold her own.
Ship Compliment:
100 Officers and Crew
150 Engineers
50 Dragon Knights
120 Marines
Supplies:
Steel Patching Material
Power Generators
Computer Supplies
Weapons
2 Wide Tread LRV Vehicles
20 Heavy Lifting Cargo Vehicles
