First Mechanized Fleet released!

Green Sun

After years of work and contruction, Green Sun has released the 'Eigth' fleet, which is also known as the First Mechanized Fleet. As with all of Green Sun fleets, it contains seven ships, each controlled by an AI sharing the ship's name. This is an enourmous step in our military's future and our AI technologies.

Since all Green Sun AIs are veryy advanced and are taken from dead brains of very loyal Green Sun military personell and their programming does not allow them to betray Green Sun or its allies.

Each ship is completely run by AIs that repair and work the ship and recieve orders from the 'Captain' AI. The 'Captain' also has backup AIs to take over if it is ever destroyed. There are several robotic bodies the AIs can use to escape in case the ship is destroyed.

The ships also have 'Scrapper' droids that will take the damaged ships in a battlefield and use it on their mother ship to repair it or use it for research at a later date to improve Green Sun's arsenal.

All Captain AIs are named after brilliant tacticians of ancient Earth.

The seven ships are:
-The Oddesseus, a Gargantuan Destroyer
-The Tojo, a Very large Carrier
-The Rommel, a Very Large Battleship
-The Lee, a Gargantuan Crusier
-The Hannibal, a Very Large Destroyer
-The Casear, a Large Battleship
-The Alexander, a Large carrier

Admiral Shepard, the Admiral spearing the project, is hosting a press conference and will answer any questions that are non-classified.

Is the Lee named after Robert E. Lee, the Commander of the Confederate Army of the Confederate States of America?
"Indeed, it is. General Lee was one of the best tacticians ever known. It's a shame he used his brilliance for the Confederates instead of the Union."

A reporter raised his hand and stood up. "How long did it take to research this? and how high was the cost?"

"Our AI technology was already very advanced at the time the project was started. All we had to do was create AIs that were advanced enough to take on tasks like leading a fleet. We actually discovered one of our AIs, Oddyseus, was already advanced enough to take the task. After a little bit of reprogramming, all we had to do was build his ship."
"As for the costs, it was actually cheaper than building a normal fleet of this size. Since it's so large, it cost about four trillion TenHeads (10 heads), but that's actually pretty cheap considering a fleet this size would cost twice that amount. Most of the ships were actually assembled by robots. Very few people actually built the ships."
"As for teh costs of making the AIs, we visited some of the most loyal Green Sun veterans and asked them if we could use their brain when they passed away. Since tehy were about to do so anyway, they agreed, so making the AIs was easy. We made them very similar to Oddyseus, who is still the most advanced of them all despite being an older model."

What appears to be an anonymous UNSC officer strodes past, whispering about rampancy...

"Any more questions?" the Admiral askes. He looks at the UNSC officer and adds,
"Or comments?"

The Mondothian Naval Attache wishes to know why there are only 'large' and 'very large' ships in this fleet, doesn't the absence of medium and small ships leave such a fleet open to attack by small, swift ships and fast boats?

"Have you heard of rampancy, Admiral Shepard?" the roughly 5'8, Caucasian brunette male questioned,

"Of course I have!" the Admiral responded, obviously annoyed, "I assure you that the artificial-intelligences in every single one of these warships shall not go rampant!"

"Those are the only ships that are released to the public. Those are the main guns. Toy and Small Cruisers are actually very numerous amongst the Mechanized fleet, but they only target ships with hostile signatures. Smaller ships are in the fleet, they're just not listed. Medium-sized ships would be listed amongst the seven main ships."

That's a godmod, sontrolling my character like that. Give me a chance to respond instead of using my character.

"Interesting. We of the Nietzschean Empire once fought a foe with A.I controlled ships; one wonders if heart and love and emotion make war machines more capable, truly; or whether, perhaps they simple create more ethical quandries and irrational rebellions than sense. On that note; we would be interested in acquiring said technology."

"No, although we are working on a robot that does just that."

"Our AIs are very advanced. If you don't program them, they become their own person. All of our military AIs have programmed personalities, but we have created a few AIs that are unprogrammed, they simply exsist. One became suicidal. So one could say yes, they truely have a man-made soul. But because we have programmed these AIs, and their leader has been a member of the Green Sun Navy for several decades, their loyalty is only matched by the Admirals and Generals of Green Sun."

"This is interesting. We have our own AI controlled ships, and in fact have a few fleets active. We will follow your progress very closely."
