Declaration of War on Mengistua

Quezadria
02-09-2005, 03:39
Due to the concessions of Mengistua and their attempts to enslave the Arab population within their country to the Western interests, as well as their nature based on secularist Marxist-Leninist thought and treachery to Ba'thism, the Socialist Arab Republic of Quezadria today makes a declaration of war on Mengistua. We will give Mengistua one hour to surrender before 500,000 troops cross the border, Our military is far bigger and our country far bigger than Mengistua and we know that if they think about it, they will surrender before the end of the hour.

The traitors in Mengistua have forced atheism on their people in addition they have also squandered the resources of the country, they claim Socialist democracy, but we see it more as a kleptocracy. The Arab population which makes up a majority of Mengistua has been forced into poverty and now their cheap labour is being used by Mengistua to negotiate for foreign business investment. We shall not stand idly as the leader of the Arab world and watch our backyard be turned into a poor sweatshop because a dictator wants to make a few million dinar.

OOC: Karuchea will save you? Ha! We've all sat under his shadow long enough, he didn't even lift a finger or send any forces to help Arabanistan in the war, he only threatened to. Karuchea is not a leader and has never fought when it was time to, he has only ordered us to fight for him while he remains our delegate. All of the other United Arab States' nations will agree with me on these points.

Official Response

From: Animarnia State Department.
To: Saddam Aflaq, President of the Socialist Arab Republic of Quezadria

Animarnia Strongly disagrees with what appears to be an unsanctioned war against The Democratic Republic of Mengistua; Mengistua is neither an ally nor protectorate of Animarnia thus we clearly view this as an internal Arab matter and will take no side or action. This partly due to our own internal matters at the current time however suggests that you first attempt Diplomacy to solve your issues before resorting to open war.

Saddam Aflaq, may I ask why you have done this? I thought that your plan was to liberate the Arabs in Mengistua, however seeing as you have accepted this deal not only have you put Mengistua citizens in a position that they can barely scrape a living, taking their oil and copper power leaving them with only the steel industry, meaning you are leaving 1/3 of the population in Mengistua in a poor state hurting them signifigantly. You have also shown that in truth you do not care about liberating the Arabs for if you did, the argument would have been completely different, because of that I, as the representative of Karaska, am withdrawing my support until further notice. OOC: Wow, do I even have one nation on my side?

EDIT: I guess I do, yay.

IC: Our nation was forced to compromise. Our nation may be large, but it is a rather poor nation and one of peace. We were threatened with two options. The first was to accept the 2/3 of Mengistua that was offered to us and attempt to fund insurgency within the other third, or we could accept the second option which was invade the country and get into a larger war where millions of people could die due to the Western defence of Mengistua. We decided the first was a better, more realistic option and one that would cause as few deaths as possible. I believe now that we chose the wrong course and have stepped into an even bigger war than the one we were first presented with. However, we cannot turn back now, our focus is on the defence of Quezadria and the 2/3 of Mengistua we now occupy. Once this war is over, hopefully Mengistua will be reunified as an Arabic, non-Marxist nation and our economies and people can grow together in the aftermath. We took the choice which appeared correct at the time.

Phriykui Linoy Li Esis has these suggestions for your future success. Seeing as you are a selfish despot we have determinned that you are in fact not a muslim and are in fact trying to drag them into a war for several machiavellian purposes. It is Phriykui Linoy Li Esis's suggestion that you legitimately obey the laws of Jihad and the Arab States as part of a propoganda campaign in your favour. Many despots through history have fell into the false imperialist hope trap and realised that the only thing certain about a military campaign is the politics.

However we completely disagree.

The crystal clear thinkers of Phriykui Linoy Li Esis have deemed that god does not exist and asks all religious people, muslims in particular, to stop believing in their religion.

They have also deemed totalitarianism as illogical and evil, if you must be a criminal at the very least have some sort of government structure that allows for economic growth. So in general the people of Phriykui Linoy Li Esis kindly asks that the government of Quezadria prosecute themselves for the crimes they have committed, preferably resulting in death by extreme torture.

Official Republic Response

Why stop with 2/3 of the country. It seems to us at least that your nation could provide much better protection, and potentially a better economic situation since you now control most of thier resources. As it stands the nation will be living with scraps, and it would be a disservice to their populace to let them live in such conditions. We hardly doubt that your nation would have any trouble taking it anyway.

The Remarkably Sane Dominion of Juumanistra wishes to express its abject disgust with your gratuitous land grab and its condemnation of the expansionist and self-aggrandizing regime of Saddam Aflaq for its disregard of the territorial integrity of Mengistua first by threatening to invade, then setting up this little “Free Arab Republic” fiefdom out of the concession that the legitimate Mengistuan government gave you to keep itself in existence, and now you opt to send your tanks across the border anyway?. The Remarkably Sane Dominion resoundingly rejects the legitimacy of the Arab Republic of Mengistua and recognizes the Democratic Republic of Mengistua as the rightful sovereign of the territory in question, as well we would like to put Quezadria on notice: your continued aggression shall no longer be tolerated, as the Juumanistran military shall be joining the emerging coalition of nations attempting to right this wrong.

*=*=*=*

To: Haile Siad al-Bashar
From: Eric Allen, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Major General Scott Emerson, Special Operations Command
Subject: Foreign assistance in light of Quezardia's aggression

We extend our deepest regrets to the Democratic Republic in the wake of Quazedria's aggression and the government's coercion into the forfeiture of two-thirds of its own sovereign territory and now your forced expulsion from your own nation. Juumanistra is, as we speak, commencing the requisite mobilization to help in the liberation of the whole of the Democratic Republic's sovereign territory. In the interim, however, Juumanistran Special Operations Command is capable of providing massive quantities of arms for an insurgent campaign, as well as some special forces troops, to assist in said insurgency. We need only know where to send the weapons and to whom they should be delivered.

*=*=*=*

The preparations proceeded quietly at first; essential combat personnel recalled and shuffled to primary staging bases, key reserve elements mobilized, readying of aircraft and ships for deployment. The buzz was, by-and-large, low-key, but it continued to apace, as the Juumanistran war machine lurched out of idle and into gear in preparation of offensive operations.

Al Khals
02-09-2005, 07:32
President Qottar slouched in his comfortable quarters within the Palace of Democracy in his hometown of Tkrat, digesting the events of the day. He had overseen the execution of a dozen old friends and comrades besides whom he'd so recently fought against the Sultan, and sent a score further of them to imprisonment in medieval conditions.

His revolution and his presidency at the centre of the new Al Khali Jamahiriya seemed secure for another few days, at least, and it was time to consider the outside world that the eccentric Sultan had so long ignored. The Quesadria-Mengistua conflict was initially the most interesting of current events. These were nations of a collective not entirely far removed in structure from his own state, and they were all small, poor, or reckless enough that he might some day position himself at the centre of their world, too, he mused. Omar Qottar unbuckled his belt and let out his significant belly just a little as he settled down to consider the state of things.

Should Al Khals take sides and deliver decisive support to one or the other? Could he instead play the intermediary?

Much as the President wanted to see his glorious armies siding with Quezadria to roll-back the combined might of all those likely to react, thus cementing his place as masterful warlord and the Arab world's mightiest lion, it seemed first unwise to wreck said world in the process, and second... well, he hadn't inherited anything like a viable deploment capability with the armed forces of the introspective Sultanate that his revolution crushed. No, Al Khals wasn't ready to storm in and build its own ideal, but it would be best to avoid making an international point of this fact so soon after his rise to power. Al Khals would side with the wronged party, Mengistua, and with the apparently likely support of Karuchea and Prachanda would take-part in a great victory for true Pan-Arabic unity.

Al Haqiqa Al Khals Network Television

President Omar Qottar appeared in full military uniform, flanked by Defence Minister Fariq Asim Abdelal and the totally unknown form of KSU Commandant Amid Sani Amir. The heavily-built successor to the vanquished Sultan of Al Khals and chief architect of the new state of the masses was seated in a rather elaborate throne taken from one of the Sultan's many palaces, and read slowly but firmly from a number of papers clutched in his left hand.

Qottar declared Quezadria's invasion a dangerous distraction in the progess of Pan-Arabism, and President Aflaq's puppet United Arab Republic a thorn in the paw of liberty.

Al Jamahiriya Al Khals, he said, stood by the right-thinking government and masses of Mengistua, and (though he was lying in this) he announced that Al Khali special forces were already amongst the (perhaps equally fictitious), "vast liberation armies forming in the streets of Mengistua". Clearly, the President's address was aimed as much at his own countrymen as at the international community.

Still, Qottar went on to promise that, "the oil-fields of Al Khals will be opened to the righteous Arab revolutionary states engaged in the great battles to come in the liberation of Mengistua" before a number of religious and revolutionary salutations, a cheesy rendition of the national anthem via a cheap synthesiser, and a horizontal wipe to stock footage of Al Khali soldiers on parade with captions boasting of the twenty-million-strong size of the revolutionary armed forces. And please, no close scrutiny of the grainy footage as might reveal that, yes, those are M48 medium tanks and M1 Garand rifles.

(OOC: A lot of bluster from Al Khals, then! Al Khals, so you know, is freshly out of a revolution that overthrew an eccentric Sultan who left the nation a shambles, but it is large (3.7bln citizens) and resource-rich (1.7trillion barrels-worth of crude known, more suspected), and the President, Omar Qottar, has a mighty high opinion of himself. He hopes to ingratiate himself to the Arab world in general by appearing to support the actions of others in rolling-back the disruptive invasion. Though the Jamahiriya has massive armed forces and the potential to be rich, it is years away from shaking-off the legacy of a lifetime's neglect, and can't actually send significant forces far beyond its own borders.)

As President of the United States of Credonia, and acting upon the foreign policies enacted by myself and authorized by the Credonian Continental Congress, I condemn the actions taken against the nation of Mengistua as they were bullied into giving up land to appease an aggressor who has NO RIGHT to demand them to stop acts that are in no contradiction to international laws within their own borders. Such actions against Mengistua are only seen by Credonia and the international community as an act of imperialism and aggression and must not be left uncheck or avoided. Credonia, a nation of peace and stern and harsh action has no choice but to act upon its moral duties and protect Mengistua from this unchecked act of imperialism, so I present this ultimatum: The nation of Quezadria has exactly 24 hours to return the occupied territory and its control back over to Mengistua or Credonia with its 8 million man standing army will be forced to take certain hostile actions against it and return the land by force. You have been warned. I suggest you heed the warning and do so if you do not wish to be invaded and occupied for an indefinite period of time.

Signed,

Kaimoni A. Sutton
Commander-in-Chief

Well this is very rapidly turning into a game of Top Trumps. Everyone just turns up and declares the size of their armed forces, sending millions of troops into battle without bothering to worry about niceties like feeding them.
You can't just click your fingers and deploy millions of troops. A rapid reaction force of a few thousand maybe, but not millions. That's a few thousand infantry, by the way, with light vehicles. If you want to move tanks into theatre the only way to move significant numbers is by ship, which will at best take weeks, possibly even months.
Just think before committing millions of troops. There's probably a sticky about logistics, go look for it.

The People's Republic has watched with growing concern as your neighbours make threats of agression against your nation. We are willing to deploy a pair of Aerial Battle Forces to your nation in an effort to deter your enemies from taking action, and to aid in your defence should war occur.
Our forces have been on a heightened state of alert due to the escalating tensions, and will be ready to deploy within hours of recieving permission from your Government. We can only hope that this will not be too late.

It has been noted by the people of Kudlastan that unwanted foreign agressors with imperialistic ambitions are flocking to the defence of the estranged nation of Menguista. The government of Kudlastan would like to announce its backing of Quazadria and its allies. Although a young and growing nation, we are delighted to send the following to aid in the effort:

5,000 tonnes of wheat
3 mobile carrier pigeon reconnaisance units
the 3rd river flotilla (armed scout motorboats)

2,000 elite officers of the Department of Justice, experienced from domestic actions at keeping the peace in all costs by enforcing martial law and neutralising dissidents and potential threats by all means possible. They will be dispatched to the newly independent Free Arab Republic of Menguista in order to neutralise insurgents and mercilessly crush any support for the former regime, thus freeing up extra troops for the battle that is to come.

The government of Kudlastan hopes this gesture will be appreciated and accepted in the spirit in which it was offered, and that the outsiders are shown their intervention is not welcome in Quazadria's affairs.

The HCIA had experience with operations such as this, and immediately began funneling considerable funds into the arming of the Mengistuan insurgency forces. $825 million had been poured into a shipment of enough guns, grenades, RPGs, and supplies to last an insurgency for years. Provided the weapons were used wisely, which would likely be the case after the SOLE team had had time to train the rebels, they would cause the invaders hell.

IMAF's newest secret weapon, or in this case, transport unit, was floating in "almost low Earth Orbit" over an ocean near a dropzone, where they would assist rebel forces, once they had orders.

IMS-1, an IMAF Operated Sultan-class Stealth Blimp drifted, all but invisable to radar. A pair of Su-82's were in the area earlier, not actually near the vessel, but just around incase something happened in a tense area.

The 20 man team, a SCO (Security and Command Operation's) Special Forces unit, would, after the blimp dropped down, probably in the early morning hours, parachute into the countryside and set up an LZ for supplies and possibly more people to be brought in over the next few days.

Some of the nations that invaded Mengistua helped me in the Willink War.

Quedizara gave me troops plus they are an Arab nation and a Ba'athist state.

On the other hand, Krachuea is also Arab and Ba'athist yet they are with you and Hal in supporting the rebels.

Im a member of the United Arab States region, with Krachuea and Arabanistan will ONLY act in the best way to advance Arab unification.

I have now idea if Mengistua was invaded for anti arab actions.

Yet you and McKagan were my allies in the Willink war and saved my nation from defeat, the Willink war was the FIRST war I RPed in NS that I WON and came out of alive!

Saharistan etc... all ended up under occupation.

Could you give me some background info on this conflict as the two nations that went to war only explained it in propaganda form, I want to know the REAL reasons for this war.

OOC: As best I can tell, Quezadria declared war on Mengistua, and Mengistua, seeking to avoid bloodshed, surrendered. Quezadria then proceeded to claim 2/3rds of Mengistua's territory as one of the terms of the surrender. It was just an excuse for Quezadria to imperialize, IMO.

"Yes sir, We'll do that sir."

"What's that?"

The Officer piloting the blimp turned in his seat, or started to, before turning back to the console and locking the "wheel" and thrust units in place. He then finished what he started, and turned to look at the Mission Commander, a 1st Lieutenant who was among the only 3 people in the command center.

"We've got our orders. 'Arizona phoned in, drop down to parachute level, we've got 3 hours to deploy our stuff before the sun comes up in a place called.... Prachanda? Anyway, I'm going back to get the Marines ready."

The pilot turned back around, took the vessel off it's lock, and put it at a small angle. After a few seconds he adjusted the electro-kinetic engines and had the ship headed towards it's dropzone.

While this was happening, the Lieutenant had assembled the 20 Marines in the hallway outside the lock-out chamber, and had the cargobay doors on standby.

30 Minutes Later

"3...2...1..."

The doors for the cargobay opened, and the load containing P90 SMG's and disposable Anti-Tank munitions dropped towards earth.

20 seconds later, the 20 man team of Marines excited and headed in behind.

After opening their chutes, they drifted to Earth.

2nd Lieutenant Miller was the team leader, and by no coincidence the first of the team members on the ground. He had a clean landing, as did the other 4 team members that came down in his group. Group's Bravo and Charlie both landed in less friendly terrain, but were down ok. Group Delta crashed into a hillside, making their time to checking in a bit longer, but they were ok, nonetheless.

Upon Miller's visual, all of the cargo was in the immediate area, although it would take some time to recieve it, everything was on the ground, accounted for, and in one piece.

IMS-1 reached it's crusing altitude and returned to it's station, where it would remain for a few more days before returning to the secret IMAF Omega Site in the McKagan Deserts.

Al Jamahiriya Al Khals, having through President Omar Qottar earlier declared official condemnation of Quezadria for derailing the cause of Pan-Arabism and socialism, took a second, more practical step towards involvement in the on-going disputes.

Leader of the dominant Al Khals Kadira Republic faction within the popular congresses that constitute the Jamahiriya's administration (ooc: Arabanistan, it would be fair to say that if there's a Libya-like government involved here, it is that of Al Khals!) Habib Kilany appeared on the Al Haqiqa Al Khals network to announce that Al Khals would begin to deliver finished petroleum products in the ammount of one million barrels per day to Karuchea and Prachanda in order to feed the liberation struggle against Quezadria and the cohorts of that nation's counter-productive leadership.

This would be done, said Kilany, the de facto Prime Minister, at no expense to those nations and warriors fighting that struggle, and would continue until the infidels were vanquished. It would be done so that these brave and just fighters could think less of the need to produce or purchase fuels and more on the righteousness and strategy of ultimate victory.

Al Khali soldiers would only be sent, Kilany added, if the situation became, "sufficiently serious" or if they were urgently requested by involved parties, which was probably a relief to the horribly under-paid, under-equipped, and poorly trained members of the gigantic Al Khali armed forces.

As the Al Khali flag was wiped into shot in a stroke of cheap and amatureish editing, a terribly over-dramatic voice boomed a reminder to all righteous combatants, "On the day of victory, no man is tired!"

OOC: I hope that you don't mind me saying, but I don't think that the time-frame is entirely in your control. If, seven hours after your post, the involved parties aren't yet back on-line and posting, and your troops suddenly arrive in their nations, you may be guilty of godmodding. They arrive when they arrive, and that's that.
I am a little bit confused about why you're spending tens of millions of dollars to send forces to a conflict-zone in which you have no evident interest, but perhaps this will become obvious to me in time? Ho hum.

TO: Chief of Defence Staff Baaskin, Interrogator-General von Gibbonstein, Supremely Benevolent Hereditary President Kudla

Superior Sirs, Your Excellency,

The Justice Ministry security detachment has now been deployed in full to the Free Arab Republic, along with secret police and interrogation specialists. Operations are proceeding, and several small consignments of AK type small arms and RPG launchers have been seized from private homes and businesses. Those arrested in connection have been interred in our established base camp, where persuasive techniques have revealed to us that the rogue Menguistan insurgency is being supported by foreign special forces, some of whom may be in the region. Patrols are being stepped up to hunt down this suspected small number of troops. If discovered, they are not thought to be difficult to neutralise.

The newly-arrived scout division is patrolling major rivers, and interrupting any possible rebel arms transport by boat, whilst Justice Ministry detachments on major roads are instructed to stop and search all vehicles. In addition we would like to request further reinforcements, in order to bolster our presence. A force of light attack vehicles such as armoured cars would be ideal, in order to give our forces a rapid strike capablility, as would helicopter support.

My esteemed regards

With the news that Karuchea had declared war, the Venona's patrolling recieved their go-codes to mount airstrikes against the Karuchean forces. The eight Venona's currently on station dropped to a mere 150 metres above the ground and began proceeding to the troop concentrations at just over the speed of sound.
Just under 350km before they reached the target, the Venona's began firing Stand Off Anti-Radiation Missiles (SOARM) in an attempt to eliminate any SAM sites that may be guarding the troops, as well as any AEW aircraft that may be in the area.
Each Venona is armed with thirty 500lb bombs, thirty Mk-20 Rockeye anti-armour cluster bombs, ten CBU-75 anti-personel cluster bombs, six SOARMs and ten Cobra AAMs for self defence.

The SAM Batteries ceased fire and the SU-25s and MiG 33s swarmed across the border at the remaining MIGs of Quezadria, they opened fire. Commander Zaki Omar ordered the United Arab States troops in Mengistua to begin marching towards Barre City and ordered all available aircraft carriers to begin route to Mengistua from all UAS bases. The final order of the day was for 5 TU-160s to take flight behind the SU-25s and MIG-33s and begin bombing campaigns against Quezadria's airbases.
Quezadria
05-09-2005, 19:09
3 MIG 29's had gone down before the other 20 began falling out of range, 1 further went down upon retreat. At that point they saw several SU 25's and MIG 33's and fell back to a point completely out of range of the SAM sites, losing 2 on that retreat. They then began engagement with the Air Force of Karuchea. President Saddam Aflaq orders the 500,000 troops in Mengistua to prepare a line outside of Mugabeton and Barre City and protect those cities and the oil fields close to Quezadria.
Karuchea
05-09-2005, 19:15
Su-25s and MiG-33s, 17 in all, engaged the remaining 14 MiG-29s. Two Su-25s went down to MiG-29 forces as the flanks of MiG-33s began to open fire. As they did Commander Zaki Omar commanded the 200,000 forces ready to invade Quezadria to pull back from their assaults and turn to invade Mengistua, going through the Karuchean side of the border, behind Mugabeton and Barre City and straight into the oil fields. He then ordered special forces to make runs at disabling the oil pipelines temporarily.
Quezadria
05-09-2005, 19:21
President Saddam ordered a complete retreat of all forces in the air, the MIG 29's began their retreat, losing 4 more as they returned to their airbase. Saddam then began orders to use the oil fields in Mengistua as a wall of fire when the Karuchean forces arrived there.

OOC: Someone informed me that my budget is extremely lower than I thought I was pretty much sacrificing my entire airforce. So, I have 10 planes left down in the airbase in Quezadria with a further 2 planes in Mengistua herself.

05-09-2005, 19:25
The 15 Su-25s and MiG-33s fell back and awaited the 5 Tu-160s, they went into a position defending the Tu-160s and began their run at the Quezadrian airbase, preparing to bomb it and take out the remaining airforce. Meanwhile, the special forces parachuted into the oilfields, preparing to sabotage the Quezadrian plans.
Quezadria
05-09-2005, 19:27
the remaining 10 MIG 29's were ordered to immediately turn back from the airfield and engage the Karuchean forces, focusing the attacks on the TU 160's.
Karuchea
05-09-2005, 19:32
Commander Zaki Omar laughed as he knew the war was coming to an end. He ordered the Air Force to give Quezadria's MiG-29s clear shots at the Tu-160s knowing that production could make those up by the end of the war, besides, the Tu-16s could take over the duties of the 160s until that time, especially since they would be flying unopposed. The goal was to trade the Tu-160s for the remaining airforce of Quezadria. It was a risk he knew would work out in the long run. T-72 tanks accompanied by several T-98s and 200,000 infantry began their march into Mengistua's oil fields.

OOC: I am willing to accept that deal actually, it is probably the best I am going to get right now. I will no longer do this blitzkrieg of immediate post-counter post since it so far has brought nothing but failure and over-sight on my part as looking back and seeing that I have overlooked and over-estimated in every encounter in this war. So, expect my next post to appear later, and by later I mean in a few hours.

IC: President Saddam ordered the execution of all Air Force commanders and began preparations for bringing the troops in Quezadria fully based on Anti-Air assaults of Karuchean planes and bombers.

OOC: Right, well, don't worry about it. It took me a decent bit of time to get good at quick reading and the, as you called it, "blitzkrieg" post war. BTW, just as a note, I have discussed it with Prachanda over telegram and he will have official control of the UAS troops in Mengistua, all 900,000 of them with me having a veto control and I will have full control over all of my troops (obviously) going into the oil fields, they rank in at 200,000.

We request immediate help in taking this back and the formation of a Mengistuan army. You realise that the C-5 carries about 80 passengers. To deploy 40,000 infantry you'd need 500 of them. More would be needed to carry the vehicles. Where exactly do you plan to land these hundreds of aircraft? No to mention the difficulties in coordinating an armada of that size.

The patroling E-3 detected the inbound Nebarri aircraft and provided vectors for twelve of the sixteen Demeter-class air-superiority fighters on patrol, the remaining four remaining to escort the E-3. The twelve Demeter's heading to attack kept their radars switched off until had closed to within 60km, at which point the lead aircraft in each two-ship formation activated its radar, transmitting the data via secure radio link to its wingman. Each aircraft selected a target and fired off a pair of Cobra AAMs.

OOC: Clarify the position of the bombing, what they were bombed with and which troops were bombed. If they are Karuchean troops inside the UAS overall command, they are under Prachanda's jurisdiction, if they are the 300,000 reserves then say so, if they are the 200,000 regular troops then also clarify so. However, these planes would have to break the Anti-Air and SAM wall of which the troops were going by as they were indeed crossing the Karuchean border. Also, do tell if you only attacked the troops or the T-72 tanks or T-98 tanks.

IC: Commander Zaki Omar announced to all reserves that their time was in and they were to invade Mengistua at once following behind the 200,000 vanguard. The ATVs went rolling, the troops began marching with AK-74s as well as with anti-tank and anti-plane rockets. I will post 10,000 casualties because under the assumption your planes are not invincible many would have perished due to SAM or simple AA fire before reaching or even after reaching the troops. 10,000 is a very generous number at that point. Also, if I am correct, your timing would have actually placed you in the middle of a battle. (I'm just attacking the combat planes for now)

Inside the Demeter's, the radar lock warnings began sounding. Antennae began streaming from the port wings of the aircraft, emitting electro-magnetic jamming in an attempt to cause the incoming missiles to break lock. The E-3 radioed information on the F-16's bearing, allowing the Shildonian pilots to turn their aircraft 90 degrees to the Nebarri aircraft, cancelling their relative velocity and rendering themselves almost invisible to the F-16's pulse-doppler radar. Those lucky enough to have broken the enemies radar-lock turned themselves back towards the enemy aircraft and fired off more Cobra's, while those less lucky began diving towards the ground, hoping that they would either be lost in the ground clutter, or that the missile's proximity fuses would be triggered by the ground, rather than themselves.
One novice pilot, unused to low level flying flew himself into the ground, no parachute was seen by the remaining pilots, who radioed in the fact that one of their comrades was down, but continued pushing their aircraft and their own skills to the very limits, lest they join their friend in a smouldering crater.
Another was lucky enough to have his missile detonate against the ground, but his left engine was spattered by shrapnel and flamed out. The gauges showed the hydraulics were leaking as well, so he radioed his intention to return to base, hoping his battered steed would remain entact long enough for him to reach base.
Two Phoenixes were able to find a target, one ripping the Demeter apart with a direct hit, it's pilot dying in spectacular explosion of fuel and explosives. The other was luckier, being able to safely eject, taking some comfort from the fact that he would come down over friendly territory.
The remaining two aircraft were able to lose their pursuers in amongst the weeds, and lit their afterburners to rocket back up to altitude to rejoin the fight.

The Free Arab Republic is on it's own in this war. I am Brother Kaddafi and I am the interim President, good night Quezadria, more news will arrive as the night progresses."

following the change of government in the nation of Quezadria, all Kudlastan security forces within the Free Arab Republic are now neutral, and standing down from counter-insurgency operations. They will be departing within the next 7 days via airlifts, and ask the enemies of the Free Arab Republic not to fire upon transport planes.

Thank you.

Morvonian forces are pulling out and are happy that the nation is starting to come to peace.

Karuchea is willing to pull all United Arab States troops out of Mengistua, this does not mean we will cease funds to the Rebels, it simply means that we will no longer use invasion as a means of regime change. This war is now a Mengistuan Civil War, not a war between Arab nations.

OOC: Meaning that it's now a conflict between those who supported the Quezadrian puppet regime and those who opposed them? If so, I'll have my men stay to help the rebels fight the collaborationists.

Hey, me too! :p

I'm actually tempted to declare i'm sending an observational carrier battle group/amphibious assault wing to the area, just for the added help of having a Titan off the coast with it's 28 A-10's....

Meh, I can just use my stealth blimps to make bombs appear in the night sky, and make people think aliens are in the skys because of the lights... :p
Arabanistan

From: The Republic of Arabanistan

To: All Nations

The Republic of Arabanistan asks all Arab nations under the great revolutionary leadership of the Ba'ath Parties of Karuchea, Quezadria and Prachanda to unite under the cause of Arab unity and the everlasting message of the Ba'athist cause.

Let not the Zionist imperialistic infidel enemy ever gain the ability to divide the Arab nations and set Arabs against each other like a pack of hungry dogs as had happened many times before in the past.

Arabanistan is one of the leading Arab nations that under the Ba'ath Arab Socialist Party and under the Great Leader, Hafez al Assad, and the BASP has made Arabanistan one of those great Arab nations at the forefront of the Arab unification struggle and the Arab people's revolution against Zionist imperialism and moral decadence.

Arabanistan urges the new leadership of the nation of Quezadria not to destroy the Ba'athist revolution in Quezadria and that the BASP holds the leading role as the only party in Quezadria.

Arabanistan also urges the two Arab groupings of Ba'athist nations, the United Arab States (UAS) and the United Arab Republics (UAR) to re-unite and to end this pointless division.

To Mengistua Arabanistan will say this; The government of Mengistua must preserve the Ba'athist ideals of Arab unity and Arab National Socialism. The rebels of the former Mengistua government must also uphold Arab unity and Arab National Socialism. If the rebels aim at any point to destroy Mengistua's Arab identity or to impose un-Arab Marxism Leninism then Arabanistan will work to crush your rebellion.

Marxism Leninism is a European ideology that can only work in societies with a white Aryan population as communism is only meant for the Ayran races.

Let the Arabs unite and win the great revolutionary struggle against the Zionist imperialist enemy.

President Hafez al Assad

Miller and company had found a more defendable position.

Moving away from the river they were near, they had found an area between two rises that opened up into a large, flat area. The "valley" they were in had only one "path" in or out, although the anti-armor and engineering guru's in the group were working on a pass.

OOC: I'm just stalling until Hal gets me somewhere to go/do, also, could someone inform me as to what kind of terrain I should be dealing with? IE, am I in a desert, a forest, the jungle...

OOC: Assume my men are with yours in your new position, at least until I get an answer to my question. I want to figure out how this situation's working before I start making any moves.

Why don't we just do like we did in "that one country" and run around the countryside assaulting convoys? :p

Good so now a flight of 5,000 troops of trained soilders rain down on the occupied Menguesta to help the rebels against the Puppet Regiem. I expect that those troops will be supplied with the airdrops and by the rebels.
Also the 1st Armored is pre-paring to invade to topple the puppet reigme. There is for the most part no real aircover for the ground forces and only for the drops which makes the ground forces open to bombing but makes the drops VERY hard to destroy.
