Commander Pierce sat in the passenger seat of his car, resting his eyes. The driver turned to him and said, "We're there. Uh, sir?" "Oh, uh, yeah. Wanna come in or just wait here?" "I'll wait." "Suit yourself." "On second though..." "Come on, quit stalling." They walked in, a rush of cool air hitting them in the face. A relief after the stuffy War Room. He walked up two flights of stairs, then back down one. He walked into a room, where other officers were mingled with government officials. "Now, what's this all about," He asked Col. Jendricks, a close friend of his. "Something about a break-out at some lab." "A break-out at a lab... Sounds like a fiction story." "WHatever that say. May be just a ploy to get us over here for some dumb announcment or whatever." "Politicians. Never trust 'em." The men gathered around a table, where officials and scientists were clustered. "Here's the deal. At Area Lab 101, a test facility," he motined to a 3D image of the lab, "located in the Tomorrian Heights," he motioned again, this time to an image of a range of mountains, "a break-out of sorts has occured. No contact has been made in the last 48 hours, something very uncommon. A security team sent down has neither returned or made contact. N-" "What was going on down at AL101," A younger officer inquired. "Testing." "Of what?" Pierce asked quietly. "Secret stuff, you know, missiles, jets, equipment." "I'm not sending anyone down there until you tell me what is down there." A scientist stepped forwards. "We were assigned to test Super-Soldiers, using specialized equipment and, ah, other things." "Other things?" "Tests and certain medicines and boosters. Not steroids mind you, these are not as strong but they have better potential, with less effects, and they are permanent. Used in conjunction with those newly introduced screening and defect-reducing equipment, they can be pretty powerful. But a majority of the subjects proved to be... Aggressive. Independant. Defiant." "Subjects?" "Yes. Volunteers from different corps and branches of the military." An official stepped up. "And now there was a break-out reported, about 6 hours before contact was lost. Security cameras have revealed nothing but dead bodies everywhere. Recon flights report absolutely no activity." "Has any of this news leaked out?" "Of course not." "How many men are needed?" "Not more than 80 Elite Soldiers." "They'll be ready. You just give the word."
*1 Week later, 2,000ft above the mountain range*
"All's clear!" "Green light in 3!" In the back of the B-94T, 20 Shadow Troopers stood in the back, decked out with BDU's, AR-65's, and the normal gear for these elites. "GREEN LIGHT! GREEN LIGHT! GO GO GO!" The men and women began pouring out, their black parachutes unseen in the pitch black night. The other plane was also leaking paratroopers. A small convoy of Troop Carriers was on the ground, with 60 men. The first men hit the ground, discarded their parachutes, and readied their equipment. The second wave touched down, and did the same. The soldiers linked up, and moved out. "This way." "Keep moving." "How far from here?" "Not even 2 miles. Now shut up and move, Bren!" The moved on in silence, not knowing what they would face. "Something horrible, no doubt", a soldier thought. "Over there," the leader whispered. A fairly large building loomed up ahead. The entrance to the facility of the incident. They moved on, moving to the door. The Shadows spread out, looking in different directions. A charge was placed, and the door blew open with a muffled bang. They ran in, boots sqeaking on the shiny floor. The place was in darkness, and the troopers like it that way. NV Goggles went down, and each soldiers built-in recorder started. The recorder was built into the helmet, and recored video and audio. They silently ran around corners, until they got into the main room. Lights were on, and the place was a mess. Blood was everywhere, but no bodies. A bloody control panel was still on, and a sergeant moved over to it, and manipulated some controls. Messages and recordings could be played back, but he skipped ahead to the security cam recordings. Nothing. Except for that one. He played it, and they all gathered, some looking out the windows to watch for anything.
The move started out with the normal things that people do. A guard was relaxing in his chair, and another one was reading something while drinking coffee. A doctor ran in.
"There's been an emergency, one of the men is flatlining and- *crash*" "What the?!" The guards got up, drawing their sub-machine guns and pistols out. 2 Men walked in, wearing battle-armor of sorts.
"What are you doing in here?" The men said nothing. A guard shot, and one fell. THe other man drew a gun, and killed the guards. He turned to the scientists and the doctor, and killed them, smashing one against the wall. He picked up the wounded man, and they walked out. A series of explosions ensued, and then the camera blanked out.
"What the..." "Sir! I say something moving out there!" "What?" "It looked like-" Glass crashed somehwere, and gunfire erupted in the hallway. "Get over there!" "Go go go!" The Shadows ran into the hall, and were met by a horrific sight. Mangled corpses of guards were on the floor, twisted in unnatural positions. "Oh go-" Gunfire erupted in other hallways, and the soldiers realized the sounds were getting closer to them. The gunshots were coming from all around them, in a circle. 3 Super-soldiers stopped in-front of them, guns brandished. They circled, then suddenly flew back into the wall, bullets ripping into their bodies. "Their coming in!" "Keep shooting you idiot!" Grenades were tossed into the hall, and explosions were followed by yells of pain. A soldier ran up to them, his suit half burned, eyes burnin with anger. A Shadow Trooper emptied his entire clip into the enemy. Overhead, the B-94 Pilots were monitoring the stiuation via radio. Suddenly a desperate transmission came through. "We... -forcements! Oh my-... -elp! Help! Ahhh *strangled cry*...*static*" "We've lost them sir." "We're heading back to base, SHC will want to know the outcome." They headed back, not knowing this was to be only the first of many excursions into the mountain ranges...
