Commander Pierce sat in the passenger seat of his car, resting his eyes. The driver turned to him and said, "We're there. Uh, sir?" "Oh, uh, yeah. Wanna come in or just wait here?" "I'll wait." "Suit yourself." "On second though..." "Come on, quit stalling." They walked in, a rush of cool air hitting them in the face. A relief after the stuffy War Room. He walked up two flights of stairs, then back down one. He walked into a room, where other officers were mingled with government officials. "Now, what's this all about," He asked Col. Jendricks, a close friend of his. "Something about a break-out at some lab." "A break-out at a lab... Sounds like a fiction story." "WHatever that say. May be just a ploy to get us over here for some dumb announcment or whatever." "Politicians. Never trust 'em." The men gathered around a table, where officials and scientists were clustered. "Here's the deal. At Area Lab 101, a test facility," he motined to a 3D image of the lab, "located in the Tomorrian Heights," he motioned again, this time to an image of a range of mountains, "a break-out of sorts has occured. No contact has been made in the last 48 hours, something very uncommon. A security team sent down has neither returned or made contact. N-" "What was going on down at AL101," A younger officer inquired. "Testing." "Of what?" Pierce asked quietly. "Secret stuff, you know, missiles, jets, equipment." "I'm not sending anyone down there until you tell me what is down there." A scientist stepped forwards. "We were assigned to test Super-Soldiers, using specialized equipment and, ah, other things." "Other things?" "Tests and certain medicines and boosters. Not steroids mind you, these are not as strong but they have better potential, with less effects, and they are permanent. Used in conjunction with those newly introduced screening and defect-reducing equipment, they can be pretty powerful. But a majority of the subjects proved to be... Aggressive. Independant. Defiant." "Subjects?" "Yes. Volunteers from different corps and branches of the military." An official stepped up. "And now there was a break-out reported, about 6 hours before contact was lost. Security cameras have revealed nothing but dead bodies everywhere. Recon flights report absolutely no activity." "Has any of this news leaked out?" "Of course not." "How many men are needed?" "Not more than 80 Elite Soldiers." "They'll be ready. You just give the word."
*1 Week later, 2,000ft above the mountain range*
"All's clear!" "Green light in 3!" In the back of the B-94T, 20 Shadow Troopers stood in the back, decked out with BDU's, AR-65's, and the normal gear for these elites. "GREEN LIGHT! GREEN LIGHT! GO GO GO!" The men and women began pouring out, their black parachutes unseen in the pitch black night. The other plane was also leaking paratroopers. A small convoy of Troop Carriers was on the ground, with 60 men. The first men hit the ground, discarded their parachutes, and readied their equipment. The second wave touched down, and did the same. The soldiers linked up, and moved out. "This way." "Keep moving." "How far from here?" "Not even 2 miles. Now shut up and move, Bren!" The moved on in silence, not knowing what they would face. "Something horrible, no doubt", a soldier thought. "Over there," the leader whispered. A fairly large building loomed up ahead. The entrance to the facility of the incident. They moved on, moving to the door. The Shadows spread out, looking in different directions. A charge was placed, and the door blew open with a muffled bang. They ran in, boots sqeaking on the shiny floor. The place was in darkness, and the troopers like it that way. NV Goggles went down, and each soldiers built-in recorder started. The recorder was built into the helmet, and recored video and audio. They silently ran around corners, until they got into the main room. Lights were on, and the place was a mess. Blood was everywhere, but no bodies. A bloody control panel was still on, and a sergeant moved over to it, and manipulated some controls. Messages and recordings could be played back, but he skipped ahead to the security cam recordings. Nothing. Except for that one. He played it, and they all gathered, some looking out the windows to watch for anything.
The move started out with the normal things that people do. A guard was relaxing in his chair, and another one was reading something while drinking coffee. A doctor ran in.
"There's been an emergency, one of the men is flatlining and- *crash*" "What the?!" The guards got up, drawing their sub-machine guns and pistols out. 2 Men walked in, wearing battle-armor of sorts.
"What are you doing in here?" The men said nothing. A guard shot, and one fell. THe other man drew a gun, and killed the guards. He turned to the scientists and the doctor, and killed them, smashing one against the wall. He picked up the wounded man, and they walked out. A series of explosions ensued, and then the camera blanked out.
"What the..." "Sir! I say something moving out there!" "What?" "It looked like-" Glass crashed somehwere, and gunfire erupted in the hallway. "Get over there!" "Go go go!" The Shadows ran into the hall, and were met by a horrific sight. Mangled corpses of guards were on the floor, twisted in unnatural positions. "Oh go-" Gunfire erupted in other hallways, and the soldiers realized the sounds were getting closer to them. The gunshots were coming from all around them, in a circle. 3 Super-soldiers stopped in-front of them, guns brandished. They circled, then suddenly flew back into the wall, bullets ripping into their bodies. "Their coming in!" "Keep shooting you idiot!" Grenades were tossed into the hall, and explosions were followed by yells of pain. A soldier ran up to them, his suit half burned, eyes burnin with anger. A Shadow Trooper emptied his entire clip into the enemy. Overhead, the B-94 Pilots were monitoring the stiuation via radio. Suddenly a desperate transmission came through. "We... -forcements! Oh my-... -elp! Help! Ahhh *strangled cry*...*static*" "We've lost them sir." "We're heading back to base, SHC will want to know the outcome." They headed back, not knowing this was to be only the first of many excursions into the mountain ranges...

The convoy pushed on, it's cargo of troops nervous at what they might find. Security Teams and a few Scientists were with them. "Maybe the Air Force should just bomb the place to pieces." "No, we can't do that. There are hundreds of important experimental pieces of equipment." "Like what?" "Like Personal Cloaking Unit. We had about 150 of those things down there." The man suddenly sucked in his breath. "Oh no... What if the Elementals got some of 'em..." "Elementals?" "The project was code-named that; Project Element. The super-soldiers were nicknamed Elementals. The volunteers liked the name." The convoy halted at the entrance. By now it was early morning, and a reddish sky was dawning...
*Mendas City, SKyCapt*
The streets were busy, even at 6:30 in the morning. The second largest city in SkyCapt, Mendas City was late to bed and early to rise. A congested roadway suddenly exploded. Hydrants flew into the air, propelled by the explosion's force and the water spouting underneath them. A truck was thrown into the air, it's trailer on the ground, the coupling, wires, and cables ripped to shreds. Gunfire erupted from nowhere, and civilians were caught in a crossfire. Police Officers and Soldiers ran into the alleys, searching for the culprits. "Nothing here. Check the other alleys." The men moved off, only to get shot in the back by an invisible foe. 3 Elementals uncloaked, set more explosives, and ran off, cloaking as they ran. The skyscraper they targeted suddenly had its foundation comprimised. The huge building was a deathtrap, and it tottered, then settled. An elevator was filled up, and sent down. The building collapsed, falling straight down. Elementals were smart, tactical, and aggressive, the perfect soldier - or enemy...

"Go go go!" Whispered the team leader. The men moved in singlefile, searching different corners of each room. They stumbled on the remains of a dead Elemental. And another. And another. Elementals were everywhere. "What happened? I thought these were super soldiers." "They are. But those are... Scratch marks? Look here, a vest has been ripped up!" Lights flooded the room. 2 Men walked in, the team leader and a scientist. The scientist looked haggard, scared, and fatigued. "Who he?" A soldier said, pointing a finger at the man. "This is Jake Hammond, one of the people who works here. He has a first-hand account of the incident. Jake walked up, and recounted his chilling story...
*Mendas City, SkyCapt*
The city was in chaos. Cloaked Elementals had taken out key buildings - Banks, Offices, and even factories. Where they had gotten their explosives was a mystery, although many assumed they had been taken from Arms Factories. In any case, they were creating chaos. They had finally shown themselves, decked out in full body armor, their faces hidden by helmets. Eyes were hidden behind black visors, and their body armor struck fear into soldiers and civilians alike. 3 Streets had been blocked off, with armed forces and police firing automatics at oncoming Elementals. A grenade launcher was fired, and the makeshift barricade was blown open, with people flying away from the blast point. Rifle fire pinned down the survivors, making grenades a very good looking choice. SkyCapt armor rolled up, and began shelling the street. Anti-armor rockets flew all around, and smoke grenades were popped, temporarily blocking view. A molotov cocktail came from nowhere, and an Elemental's armor burst into flames. The soldier kept coming, his armor protecting him. He fired a few rounds with his gun, and more soldiers joined him. The situation was becoming desperate. But the remaining troops knew that the Element Soldiers were few - Only 200 men had volunteered for the project. But they were armed to the teeth with equipment these soldiers had never seen before...

"Sir, the sit is becoming bad, we can't hold out for long. Over." "We're sending help, just keep it steady over there." "We'll-*muffled boom* Ah Sh!t, they got the T-52! Get those wounded over here!" The streets were filled with dust, blood, and bodies. SkyCapt militia and regulars were steadily being pushed back. HQ had promised Shadow and Spec Ops troopers, but so far, no sign of them. Fighters had flown bombing runs during the day, filling empty streets and buildings with napalm and high explosives. Barricades were set up along the roads and intersections, and Men were patrolling regularly. So far the fighting was limited to 3 roadways and streets, but after every encounter, more and more Elementals were counted. "This can't be right!" "There are only supposed to be 200 of these, yet after every firefight, at least 30 more come!" "Do you suppose the numbers were wrong?" "I don't know..."
*Area Lab 101*
"It's empty..." "But what about those noises?" "Could be-*weird screech*" "What the heck was that?!" "Something bad?" "D'oh, I never would ahve figured...." "Guys, lighten up. We're heading over there to see what it is." "...W-what?" "Captains orders," quipped the sergeant with a smirk. "Now move it. Solne, take the rear. Jepry, go with him. Put your XSW to use." "Sir!" The trooeprs moved off, to find the source of the unnerving sound...

E-092 walked into the moonlit street, past a patrol of 20 SkyCapt Shadows. He looked behind him, and stepped into a dark alley. He uncloaked, and joined the other Elementals around him. Their pitch-black armor gave them freedom to move about the alley unnoticed, and they took advantage of this. E-092, the leader of this 10 man squad, looked out at the barricade, and switched his viewmode to infrared. His visor took on a slight orange glow, as he scanned the buildings, searching for any sign of the other Elementals. None. "Good," He thought. 10 men was enough. He switched back to normal vision, and readied his gauss rifle. "Ready?" Affirmatives crackled through his helmet radio. The Element Squad cloaked, and they walked into the moonlight. A soldier walked by one, and turned, apparently nervous. "I'd be nervous too..." The soldier spun around, startled by the voice that came out of nowhere. Elemental 097 swung out his arm, and his wristblade flung out. The soldier dropped to the ground, a neat cut on his chest oozing blood. The squad uncloaked, and G-1 grenades flew into the barricade. The loud report of 10 Guass Rifles pierced the night, and the T-22 on the other side of the barricade launched a shell. "What the?!" A deafening explosion sounded, and the squad was blown to the ground. E-095 flew into a wall, dead. Snipers on the buildings began firing, and Elementals began feeling the impact of the bullets on their armor. "Crap," yelled an soldier. "Keep moving!" Soldiers suddenly surrounded them, and the tank moved forwards. The Elementals rasied their rifles, but E-092 motioned for them to drop their weapons. They raised their hands, and the Regulars pushed them forwards. They were elated - These were the first of the enemy to surrender...

"What is that thing?" "Looks like a... A... An Irishman crossed with a tiger..." A dead ting lay on the ground in front of the 10 Shadows. 20 Security Men stood behind them, staring in shock at the mangled corpse of some animal. It reeked, and looked horrible. A scientist stood by them, and began explaining something. "Some of the Predators must have escaped." "What? Didn't those die out some years ago?" "Yes. We began a project to er, 'resurrect' them. With the chaos that came with the Element break-out, it's no wonder these got out." "Are they dangerous?" "Did you not see the Elemental corpses back there?!" A trooper exclaimed. "Oh yeah... I'd hate to run into one of these... Especially if they can break through MBA's..." "C'mon, let's get out of here." "Agreed..." The soldiers turned back to report thier latest find, their fear renewed by their discovery...

The captured Elementals were sitting in chairs, looking at the SkyCapt troopers on the other side of the white table. They had just been fed, and were now resting in padded chairs, being interrogated. "How many Elementals are there?" "2,000." "2,000?!" "200 was the original, but hundreds more had signed up before testing began." E-092 was different from the other Elementals. He had gotten the same amount of boosters and testing, but somehow he had reacted differently. Whereas some had become very aggresive, he had been almost unchanged. While some had become nearly impervious to pain, he still felt it. Some had become somewhat desensitized to gore and war, but he still shrank back at the site of half-blown up bodies. But he had, like all the others, gained a tactical and surgical way of thinking. He, like the others, ran through their options before and during a firefight. Like the others, his senses had been boosted, and he could calculate very quickly. The scientists had somehow been able to enable them to utilize mor of their brain, and it had benefitted them greatly. He turned his attention back to the interrogator, and began answering questions along with his squadmembers.
*Area Lab 101*
The troopers continued to fire. The squad's support member was firing away furiously, reloading his XSW like a madman. Ammo boxes were laying around, and medics were running around the lab, giving first aid and medical care. The soldiers had been returning to the main group when they had been ambushed by Predators. 20 Elementals had been fighting more of the creatures, and the men had rushed over to help. Now, the same Elementals were firing away besides the Shadows, their Gauss Rifles creating piles of Predators everywhere. "That's the last of them," said the apparent leader of the Element squadron. His helmet covered his face, giving him a cold-killer type look. He certainly had played the job. His wristblades were moist with blood, having been used multiple times on Predators. "I know a shortcut you can take to the exit," he told the sergeant.. He began to give directions, when he was interupted. "Excuse me, but can you tell us how to get to the Main Room?" Asked a private, with a nervous look on his face. E-061 began giving directions, then broke off. "What the heck, we'll just escort you there." "Thanks, but the rest of the group would fire at you as soon as they caught sight of you guys. Relations between us and the other Elementals haven't been good..." "Then you can go ahead of us and tell them about your visitors. C'mon, we have to go, who knows how many of these thigns are around," he said, motioning to a dead Predator, which had given a twitch. They moved off, looking around for more of the vicious animals...

*Mendas City, SkyCapt*
Elementals all over the city were surrendering, and the week-long nightmare in Mendas City was over. When the finally tally came in, 1,700 Elementals were counted. But some good had come of it. Their weapons and armor were being studied, and the engineers and scientists who had designed them were working with designers and military commanders. The battle armor would soon be put to use. But the incident was not over yet...
*Area Lab 101*
The Elementals walked into the Main Room tentatively. The braver troopers were intrigued by the armor, this being the first time they had seen it. All other Elementals had been wearing standard battle gear. But this was interesting. The team captains were calling for pick-up, but were not getting through. The radioman for one of the squadrons tried again, and finally got through. The captain called for a pick-up, and began giving their position. The guards stationed at the windows suddenly yelled. "Sir, Predators, hundreds, coming in!" "Get ready. E-061, can you hold 'em off?" "We can try." He called together his squadron, and they ran out into the halls. "They're just asking for it," remarked a soldier in an awed voice. The Elementals, however, seemed oblivious to the multiple scratches they were taking. The sound of Gauss Rifles firing away resonated, and little clicks sounded as wristblades extended and retracted. The Elementals were being pushed back to the Main Room, inch by inch. When they reached the door, Shadows opened it, firing at the animals. A helicopter could be heard over the din of the small fight, and the entrance was filled with troopers. They ran over, and began taking out the scientists, heading them towards the door. An Elemental threw a grenade, and the last of the Predators were taken out. The men walked out of the lab, and more choppers came in. They were safely in the air, when two Jackals flew over, dropping deep-penetration bombs. A few moments later Area Lab 101 was reduced to nothign more than a smoldering mine. The incident was over...
*Mountain Side, remains of Area Lab 101*
A lone Predator roamed the mountain side, followed by a small group of the formerly extinct animal...
