No Prayer For The Dying (War Against Samotopia, Closed RP)

[This is a closed war roleplay between myself and Samotopia. There are no allies allowed for either side, and no foreign aid regardless of its nature. Sorry to those looking for a war to jump into; you won't find it here. However, OOC comments/criticism is always welcomed. =)]

A hot summer's day in Witzgall began with the baking sun rising to the voice of the Fuhrer on the news. He stood there, indifferent to the words that came out of his mouth as he shocked and horrified the citizens of his homeland, as well as those throughout the world. War. Destruction. A call for the heads of the enemy. So few were these phrases spoken in modern times, yet now was the time that they showed that they still existed.

"My fellow Witzgallians...it is today that I call upon you all to rise up. We have endured much in the past, and we have made it through unscathed. Now, I call upon you all. We must go through what our brothers have gone through in the past. The time for a decision to be made has been placed upon my shoulders, and my duty fulfilled. It is now that I alert you to a state of war between The Great Eighth Reich of Witzgall and The Holy Republic of Samotopia!"

Those who had left their homes to see this were amazed. War? War? But why? Why now, of all times? There had been no warning to such hostility. But the Fuhrer's word reigned supreme in the Reich.

-------------------------------------------

Sirens in bases ringed through the ears of the masses. Wake up, gear up. The orders were to strike hard and fast. Earlier in the night, twelve 941 Typoon Class submersibles were sent out on a stalking mission. They sank to the depths of the ocean, looking for the prey: any Samotopian naval vessel they could find without being discovered themselves.

"Flounder Two, Flounder Two. Check, check. This is Great White Four. We have an unidentified on our scanner. I repeat: unidentified on our scanner. Call your Oh-Pee, comrade." said the Admiral aboard one of the guard vessels, a classic 949A submarine. Flounders were the Typoons, and Great Whites were the 949As. It was standard encoding on this mission.

"Copy that, Gee-Double-U-Fo'. Vessel is a Kyo. Fire at will." said one of the operators aboard the Typhoon. Kyo was Witzgallian slang for enemy. They used it as standard military talk, especially while at sea.

"Flounder Two, loud and clear. Shoot to kill. Six fifty mill, ready and launch on signal. Great White Four, over and out." the transmission ended.

The admiral grabbed the intercom. He spoke loud and clear for all to hear.

"Torpedo room, stock the six fiftys. Fire at engaging enemy target, fifteen seventeen." he said. The admiral fixed his cap and watched as the sonar tracked what looked like an enemy destroyer, but could easily be a missile cruiser. The size was indifferent to the admiral: it was an enemy, and it needed to sink.

The torpedoes were loaded and locked in their tubes. The admiral gave the order. A 650mm torpedo launched out of its tubular home and sped towards the enemy vessel. Another was loaded, in the unlikelyhood of a miss.

-----------------------------------------

Numen Vs and Dingos came out of their shelters of the hangars in numerous Reich Luftwaffe Bases. Their pilots and engineers quickly did systems checks, and prepared for the order to open the skies with their powerful tools of aeronautical warfare.

"This is General Realatte. Runway Six, you are clear for takeoff. All others, proceed in order. This is a call for the skies. Good luck to you all." the loudspeaker exclaimed. The call was taken.

Plane's ignited their engines, awaiting their line to be cleared up so they could take to the skies and battle like warriors.

And so it had begun...

On board the Frogger 221 the men were enjoying a nice normal day. They were patrolling the waters like they always did. And nothing ever happened. So most men thought to them selves 'Why are we out here?'. All of them were right. Nothing bad could happen to Samotopia. They'd done nothing wrong. So instinctively people asked that question. Even the Admiral himself asked questions like this one. No one in Samotopia understood why they were out patrolling. So the men were doing all sorts of things in their free time. Playing Football (OOC: American Football), sleeping, and some were writing in the journals. Mostly everyone was having a good time. All but one.

The Man stationed at the SONAR was a bit disturbed by something that had just shown up on it. He wasn't sure what it could be. He knew it couldn't be anything dangerous. But just to be safe he called the Captian over. When the captain arrived he looked down.::

Captain: Well what do you think it is?

Man: I don't know sir, what should we do?

Captain: Well just to be safe we sho-

::But he didn't have time to finish his sentence. In fact nothing would ever come out of his mouth again. Before he had time to give orders, the Frogger 221 was hit by a 650mm torpedo. Every man on that ship knew the end was near. But if 1 man that was still alive took the time to send a warning, other ships would be prepared...but no one did. And by the time someone thought of it...a second torpedo hit. It was to late to warn other ships. All that were still alive abandoned ship. There weren't many survivors. Many were dead. No one knew who attacked them. And worst of all...no one but the survivors knew someone was out there attacking them. Destroying them. Declaring War on them.

The admiral smiled as he watched the Frogger 221 mercilessly sink to the depths of the ocean, flames and smoke spewing out of the metal coffin of Samotopian sailers doomed by the torpedo blasts.

"Men, reload the six-fiftys. We're going hunting!" the Admiral said over the intercom to his companions. He told the operator to send a message to the rest of the seventeen submarine vessels in the area, confirming the first enemy kill of war. He told them to fire at will, sink any and all that appear in the open seas under order of the Fuhrer.

The submarines sailed in the depths of the oceans, looking for their next target as they slowly gained towards the coast of the enemy lands.

--------------------------------------

A loud siren rang out. The port was emptying as a task groups left their landbases and set sail to the open ocean. They flew the banner of the Reich, prepared for battle. The infamous battle song of the Witzgallian Navy, "Seven Seas of Rhye", could be heard echoing through the weapons storage bays and vessels as each boat was carefully loaded and set on its way.

3 hours later

Inside Wutai,Capital of Samotopia, The President sat peacefully in his office. He looked over a memo that had little importance but he desided it would waste time. Everything was fine in Samotopia...very little crime, people were happy at how the nation was being run, and most importantly people were happy with hiw. President Sam-O. People liked him alot. Even though he has never done anything really important. It might have been the fact that he had keep them from being invaded. He smiled to himself when he thought of this. He to was happy with that fact. he was then interupted by Admiral Keyshawn Suggs. 2nd in command of the Navy. The 2 men shook hands and sat down. Admiral Suggs spoke next...::

Suggs: Mr. President, They're was a report of a ship gone missing. We thought at first in might be communication problems. But then 2 more ships went missing. Then we got alittle worried. So we sent the 1st Samotopian Navy Task Force to see whats wrong. We hope its just communication problem.

Sam-O: What else do you think it could be?:: He waited for an answer but none came so he countinued.:: I'm sure its just communication problems. Well good day to you Admiral.

Suggs: Thank you Mr. President.

On Board the 2nd Minekee, Flagship of the 1st Samotopian Navy Task Force

As the Small Fleet of ships came closer to the last known spot of the Frogger 221, they noticed a bit of debri in the water. They didn't think much of it. They just kept going on. But when some yelled 'MAN OVERBOARD!'. They all knew something was wrong. They picked up the dead man and went on. 15 minutes later. They were horrified by what they say. Bodies everywere in the water. And no ship to be seen. All the men in the Task Force started to salute their fellow seamen. Caltain Riggs spoke...::

Riggs: Men...they're is something out there that shouldn't be. Someone has killed these men before they knew about the enemies werabouts. They were not aware that their lives would soon be ended. And i am going to tell you all this now. We are at War. Weather anyone has said so or not. There is someone who did this. Someone who will pay. Godbless these men who have just died. And may God take no pity on those who have attacked. Now get to yuor stations and prepare for anything.

:: The Men silently rushed to their battle stations. The SONAR was being watched carefully. 3 ships had been destroyed without warning. Well now all Ships at sea were well aware of the fact that someone was lurking out there. Looking for more prey. Admiral Suggs had been alerted. Soon all of Samotopia would be aware of the attackers. Soon they would all be tested.

Dailey sighed, and reflected on the situation. Indeed, 'twas an embarrasing time for Zoogiedom Foreign Affairs. But nevertheless, it had to be done. With a hint of reluctance, he reached over to his phone and dialed the number to [Witzgall leader type guy] very quickly, pressing SPEAKER along the way. It made him more comfortable.

He grimaced, sighed, and leaned back in his chair. Click. The phone had been answered. "Ahem."

"Yo. Witzgall dude. We know you, right? I know Witzgall and Zoogiedom go way back, or something. So...are you...like...an ally?...or...what?..."

He closed his eyes, awaiting the ridicule (z0mg wtfz0r? j00 don't kn0w who j00r allies arez0r? roflc0pt0r!) and the reply. With bated breath.

The Fuhrer sighed as he spoke over the phone with the representative from The Zoogie People. He lit his cigarette and conversed with the man, trying to keep his nerve.

"We are unaware of previous arangements with your government, Sir. As the new Fuhrer, I have revamped foreign ties...yet I see no record of an alliance."

The Fuhrer then put the man on hold and contacted Air Force Commandant Kreiger.

"Commandant Kreiger speaking." the voice on the other end said, obviously a female. "How may I assist you?"

"Commandant, it is the Fuhrer. I ask of you to carry out Operation Badfish as soon as possible, regardless that it is ahead of schedule." the Fuhrer said, calmly. Kreiger was hesitant to respond.

"Sir...are you sure? That operation isn't scheduled until next week. I mean, Your Highest Power, we really shouldn't rush such--" she began, but the Fuhrer cut her off.

"Commandant. Just follow the order and carry out the operation. It's a simple procedure. Don't worry about the rush, I am confident. I ask of you a simple task; do not force me to override your decision." The war had already caused the Fuhrer great stress. The news had not reached Samotopia yet, and his submarines were being hunted like terrorists. He was increasingly worried. "Oh, and Kreiger..."

"Yes, Sir?"

"Send out an immediate telegram to the nation of Samotopia. Alert them to the conflict at once. Our message went unread last time."

"Yes, Sir. Right away."

"Danke." the Fuhrer said. He once again switched the lines, reconnecting himself with the Zoogie People representative. "I'm sorry, but I must be leaving. Good day." the Fuhrer said, hanging up.

-----------------------------------------

Commadant Kreiger handed a piece of paper to an operator nearby and asked that he send it out as an urgent message to the international community, as an RESPOND ASAP to the nation of Samotopia. The operator was stunned. He had heard about the ships being sunk, and yet Samotopia was still unaware of the war against them? Amazing. Simply amazing.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN WITHIN THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
--WITH REGARDS TO THE HOLY REPUBLIC OF SAMOTOPIA--

The Great Eighth Reich hereby declares a state of war against the Holy Republic of Samotopia. The three Samotopian ships sunk earlier today are an action of said declaration, and are the claimed acts of the Witzgallian High Navy. We hereby announce Witzgall as an internatonal flight guard zone, raising the alert status to a status level of four. We ask that the foreign community stay out of said conflict, and leave it up to the ways of mankind and the sway of the wind to decide the outcome. We ask for no foreign aid or support.

It is not the way of Witzgallians for war, and this is our last resource in this conflict against Samotopia. There is no hope for peace, as the past has shown with foreign diplomatic relations with the Holy Republic.

We hope for peace, yet prepare for war.
With Regards,
Matthew VI

[OOC: You opened the floor for feedback and comments, so I'll tell you something right off the bat. Not allowing any allies to join in the war or even send supplies or whatnot is not a good way to garner interest in your war thread, especially in light of a massive war RP that's getting a lot of attention in I.I. right now.

I realise that closed RP means closed RP and I respect that. But if I weren't fighting one of the very biggest and very baddest foes there is out there and that restriction weren't up, I'd have sent several fleets to your shores to "voice my displeasure" with your government. If I'm able to come out of my war intact and this war ends, you can bet I'll be coming after you.]

[OOC: Haha. You think I'm scared? That's a pathetic attempt at a threat, Sarzonia. If war is what you want, war is what you'll get. Good luck getting to my shores, however, as I am one of the guardian forces for my region. You'll enjoy attacking me when my region comes into full swing. Oh, and after this war with AMF I'll be surprised if you aren't in a depression and your fleet isn't massively demolished. But alright, have fun with that.]

Sam-O was stunned. He store blankly at what he had just read. He immidatly started to write a reply. He wasn't paying much attention to what he was writing. He was thinking about the upcoming invasion and how well Samotopia's defenses were. Would they be good enough to hold back an attack? Sam-O felt as if all the cheer from inside him had got up and walked away. He looked much older as well. He finished his reply and had someone send it to Witzgall.

To the Fuhrer of The Great Eighth Reich of Witzgall
From President Sam-O of Samotopia

I am shooked to hear this news. And i must ask what was the reason for this War? I must also ask if negotiantions are possible? If not then we Samotopias will meet you in combat. whether we beat you or not is not the point. The point is that we will meet you and give you our best. If we are to go down...then we will go down fighting. We will give you hell. And no matter what you do to the people of Samotopia, they will all resist. If you try and rape the women...they will resist. Our men will resist until there is nothing to resist too. Blood will be spilt. On both sides. So come now. Attack with everything you have. And enjoy walking staright to hell...because thats where you are heading.

(OOC: Not a great post. And some words may be misspelled. But i'm in a hurry so i just typed something up.)

Sam-O was to appear on Television that afternoon. He was still looking rather weiry. He knew what he must say. he wasn't even going to use a paper with a speech writen on it. He was going to say what was on his mind. He was going to say the word he had used in his response to the Fuhrer of Witzgall. Resist. He was going to tell his people to resist. Even if that meant their lives would be taken. He hoped that if everyone resisted, that they would have a chance on driving the enemy back. He didn't really expect everyone to fight. Far from it. he expected them to turn and run away. Give the enemy their nation on a silver platter. That same nation that they had worked so hard to build. To keep peace. People everywhere would think that if they kept running...they'd be safe. But Sam-O knew the truth. He knew the Witzgalian Army would catch up to them. There was verylittle chance for victory to those who would run. It was time. Sam-O sat up in his chair and awaited to give the news that would change His nation forever.::

Sam-O: People of Samotopia. It is my displeasure to inform you all of this terrible news. The news that we are now at War. A War that will be tough to achive victory. But if we stand up against our enemy we may come close. Then and only then, can we come close to gaining victory. If we stand together and fight with bravery. Give them hell. There will be little chance you will excape the Witzgallian Army. So i ask you, do not turn and run. Stand and fight. Resist. i want that word on all your minds from this point on...untill the end. Resist. Remember that and you may change the course of the war. Good luck to you all. And may God protect you.

The horizon was set ablaze by the sunset, a backdrop for the soaring fighter jets of the Witzgallian Airforce. The sky was full of the metal warriors, the Numen Vs, flying in tight formations towards the land of the Holy Republic with the thought of war in their minds. The pilots flew, nervous yet courageous.

"Pulse meters in moderation. Go code six in order. Process Omega. Copy." said one pilot, spiraling himself out of the formation of one of the task groups. "Out of the pack of wolves."

"Echo, echo. We read you. Gold leader, take command. Echo, echo. Over and out." said another pilot, twisting his fighter out of the formation. The sun made silhouettes of the fighter jets, twisting and turning throughout the crimson sky.

"Gold Leader. This is Echo Six. Do you read me?" a pilot said into his communications system contained within his breathing mask, trying to get ahold of the new leader of the pack.

"Roger that Echo Six. What's your status?" the Gold Leader asked, looking on his interface to try and locate the Echo Six plane.

"Flying low and steady. We're spotting fish down here. Trying to gain some battle network information for our comrades in the Navy." said Echo Six, flying low to the ocean, causing waves at his Mach 2 speeds.

"Echo Six, stay steady. Don't get swallowed by a shark, now! Ha!" joked Gold Leader. A beeping noise came from his radar. It was a steady three second beep, followed now by intermediate short beeps. He had spotted something. "We got a bogie."

"Copy that, we got him on ours, too. Location unknown. X and Y unmasked as of now, comrade." said a pilot, checking his battlefield network for any information on local bases or known naval movements. "Nothings surveyed, Sir."

"Rog' that. Someone give me a spotter." the Gold Leader requested. One of the Numen Vs rose above the rest of the massive pack of over one hundred planes, and a red light underneath the nose of that fighter began flashing.

"Commencing, Sir." said the pilot of the higher Numen, who was now conducting a systems search for friendly or enemy data signals. If it was a friendly, the computer onboard would give a full systems readout on exactly what type of plane it was and if it was authorized. If an enemy, it would attempt to find the nation of origin. "Gold Leader, this is Eagle One. It is an enemy craft, unknown origin."

"Copy." Gold Leader said, responding. Six beeps arose from his computer. More? he thought. "We got more bogies, closing in fast. Watch yourself."

"Shit! It's a fuckin' patrol group!" said one pilot, trying to gain a lock on one of the incoming targets. As soon as he gained a lock, he fired.

"CALM YOURSELF!" exclaimed Gold Leader. But it was too late, an incoming missile hit his left wing and he began to lop and lose stability. "Fuck! Fuck! Goin' down! Release formation!" he shouted. Planes broke off to the left and the right. Gold Leader began spiraling down towards the ground, leaving a white airstream of smoke and jet fuel. He struggled to eject, but it was too late. The firey metal bird hit the open sea, causing a rupture wave.

"Echo, Echo. Fire at bogies! Return fire!" said one pilot, releasing an air-to-air missile from one of his underwing pylons. Others soon followed, releasing a bombardment of locks and missiles into the bright red sky.

[OOC: Just an FYI, "bogey" just refers to unidentified aircraft, which could be either neutral or friendly; "bandit" refers to *enemy* aircraft.

Pilot 2: Hang in there and fight like a son of a bitch.

They're only hope of survival was if the full airforce came to fight, but that wasn't happening and they knew it. All they could do was take out as many as possible so the rest of the Airforce would have a small chance.::

[OOC: Take your time. Make the posts worthwhile. The wait is no big deal if the posts rock.]

"Shit! Shit!" shouted Fox One, hitting his airbrake switch and spiraling to the left to avoid an incoming missile. He dodged one, and sighed with relief. His cormades were struggling to avoid missiles as they came full force, speeding towards the birds of war.

"Fox One, you got one on your tail!" said one pilot. The warning came too late, as Fox One bursted into a fireball of twisted shrapnel, spiraling towards the open waters.

There wasn't much of the enemy in the sky, and the Numens greatly outnumbered them. They tried to decimate the enemy as quickly as possible, trying to keep their own losses to a minimum.

"Task Two, Task Three. Take to low, go in for defenses." said a leading pilot, ordering two task groups of eight planes to go ahead and try and destroy any opposition on the land. "Destroy airfields and Ay-Ay-Ems."

"Roger that. Task Two, Task Three. Out of zone."

The sixteen planes lowered themselves in altitude and sped off towards the landmass that was Samotopia, trying to remain out of radar level by keeping low towards the ocean.

In the water, the eighteen submersibles were slowly making their way towards the land. They were running as quietly as possible, trying to remain as unnoticed as possible.
