Moorington's Economy:

Sophisticated, educated, and robust the workforce of Moorington uses all of its might to fulfill the wishes of the markets. With the Federal government, concerning itself with defense, education, and healthcare the private sector is free to do what it does best, make money.

The workforce, as said above, is intelligent, active, and polite. They do their jobs efficiently, effectively, and productively. Making Moorington, and its dukedoms, some of the most highly sought areas for advanced productions like electronics, programming, engineering, and manufacturing.

Generally, tariffs are low, Moorington is mainly an export driven economy so there is little reason to force other countries to raise theirs accordingly. The average [Moorish] consumer should not be ruled out, but when compared to such high-class citizens that want it all yesterday [Like citizens of Abream] it should not raise an eyebrow. Textiles, simple goods, oil, construction materials, and other such menial labor are imported. Tourism is also an "import" of sorts and in recent years, more decentralized areas like Ersmer have really gotten tourism driven.

Moorington exports many things. Gizatte Company is one of fanciest carmakers on the road, and is completely located within Moorington and its associated dukedoms. Stille Incorporated, spanning the globe, based in Moorington, Moorington, works in programming and electronics. The vast majority of its work is done outside of Moorington, but a disproportionate amount of staff is hired from her (56-90%).

Finance has taken a liking to Moorington also, especially capital companies like Moorish Capital Ltd. and Reardon Capital Company, who are both highly sought out investment groups. Several stock markets are also within Moorington, Moorington. The most well established, popular, and populous exchange market would be Moorish Investments Listings. One of the few government owned companies it uses a system similar to S&P's Standard and Poor Index to rate its stocks.

That wraps it up, for a little romp through Moorington and its economy.

Basics To Moorington's Politics:

Efficient, the Moorish government tries and does well. It keeps itself entertained by keeping markets "free", keeping Moorington free, and making sure no tin-pot dictator ruins the equilibrium of world markets.

The Chancellor is the President and the Secretary of State, while the head of the parliament [mostly a ceremonial role]. In some cases the Chancellor [capitalized in Moorington] is also head of one of the ministries, Maxen is head of the Trade Ministry, which also commands the Special Directive Units, which also protect him as he travels the globe.

The parliament, or Mori Shakim, passes laws of varying importance, but are usually directed at large scale issues. The local items are left up to the dukes for each of their dukedom, or state. The Chancellor has immense power and can veto any item of legislature, a two-third majority by Parliament or Dukedom Council [where Maxen has Moorington's seat] can force the legislation through. Depending on who proposed the legislature.

Twenty dukes compromise the Dukedom council. Their main job is to pass local legislature. For instance, they would vote on if Ersmer required a new highway, in which the dukes would vote. The Chancellery rarely interfered in such local matters unless it had national consequences. Especially since the Dukedom Council also elects nine of its members to the High Court, a look alike to the Supreme Court. The Chancellor may try to veto the ascension of one Duke, who could have proved to be problematic. Yet if he does ascend, the High Court may destroy any piece of legislation, saying that it breaches the constitution. To block a Duke's placement is a two edged sword. The Dukes are elected by a direct vote from their dukedoms.

The parliament, or Mori Shakim, is the main architects of national legislature by law and tradition. They are also the ones who but heads the most with the Chancellor. They can try to veto legislation made by the Dukedom Council (unlikely) and the Chancellor (more likely). They declare war, approve taxes, and make the national budget each year. They are elected by a county vote; whoever has the most counties gets on the parliament. There are 50 seats, and around 4000 counties, meaning most receive only 10 or so and a select few 30-40.

The Chancellor is elected by a direct vote also. He can declare war, appoint cabinet members, veto legislature, veto ascension of Dukes to the High Courts, and is the mouthpiece of the country to other nations. Usually a cabinet member themselves Maxen occupies the beneficial position of Treasury Department.

Founded in 1289 After Unification (1489 AD) Moorington’s army has yet to be nothing more than a large scale policy of “carry a big stick” and not to much else. A small engagement in Death to Democracy has been the only major conflict of the past few years. Small “black” operations have been held to further Moorington’s small puppet nation of Moorington-s’s cause abroad in The Honor Guard but pretty much beyond that little has take place.

The army has until recently been something that you talked of at parties and the few soldiers to actually be involved in a large scale war were scarce and very sought after. Re-telling their stories time and time again, to prepare for more international conflicts The Greater Federacy of Moorington is ordering a total reconstruction from the ground up. Including reorganizing the fleet and air force branches the Special Directive Unit(s), dubbed the Blue Core, is finally being but in the record books. Being the one of the only branches to see regular action abroad in other nations close to Moorington like Fal Dara in Shienar, Ludwig Drums, Moorington-s, and the now deceased The Gizatte Company, it is being placed under the command of Alfred Ludendorf.

The general tactics of The Federacy’s army is to use small company to platoon size flanking maneuvers, which was either to attack the enemy if no opposition presented itself, or continue on behind the enemy lines. Usually the platoons and companies were intercepted by enemy troops which then were used as focal points to focus the enemies’ attacks on so that either the opposition exhausted itself or an opening on the direct approach was opened so that a more decisive blow could be formed. It was just a tactical version of an ancient fighting style which forced the opponent to stand still so that it could be taken as will. Something alike to a more casual blitzkrieg which the Germans employed so effectively in the Second World War, just this time Moorish units were more content to be steady and gradually envelop each army sent against them instead of stretching out to the capitals while trying to contain enemy movements in their backlines.

Moorish society in general dictates that everyone is industrious, productive, intelligent, and somewhat cynical when comparing other nations to themselves. The military is one of the best ways that any young man –the army only accepts men for combat duty- can express himself, be cynical for a reason, be industrious, –or at least convince him that he is- and generally have a good time while showing a brave front to the world of why a “big stick” is not something you wan to run into on the world’s battlefields. So, the percentage in their selective service army is no more than 2.5% but is generally 1% unless dire situations make it otherwise. This in not because the Moorish male population is handicapped when needed to produce intelligent, independent, and brave fighting men it’s just the army picks the top cream of the crop, and the only other intuitions that have a higher quality workforce is software and engineering, both Moorish strong points since the dawn of their establishment.

Generally the commanders in the field have an average age of 46, the higher age than 62, and no younger age than 32. Competent, decisive, have a clear objective, and all love tactics if not war itself. The vast majority are members of the Prussian Political Party with only several small differences in political association. Conservative thinking, politically, is the majority and many have shown support in militaristic legislation. With the continual degradation of the other parties including the Prussian Political Party many wonder of these men are thinking of breaking away to start a military party.

The Greater Federacy of Moorington’s army has recently been switched to the more original sounding name of Danube, the navy getting Rhine, and the air force getting the name Elbe. The Special Directive Units, already nicknamed the Blue Core, will just simply stay the same until another name can be put in with the former names. The official common air force, army and navy names will have Federacy’s name before (Federacy’s Rhine) it to make sure the paperwork doesn’t get incorrectly misplaced for rivers. Including that the proper long form name for the branches will be for example The Federacy’s Danube Troops of Moorington.

The Danube is expressed as the only unit not an attachment but the basic core of the Danube, artillery, SDU, supply administers (Quartermasters), and other such units are considered attachments. There are 10 Danubes (Armies) with 2244000 men per-Danube broken then down into 10 divisions of 224400 then to sections with 10 battalions with 22440 men per-battalion in 10 platoons of 2244 men with (listed) 24 men in a company (not listed) who 10 of them make up a platoon. 100 men is the assigned quota which men can be released each day, for that 98.4 men that are un-accounted in the event that they do resign their commission, that does not include special mass discharges or resignations (i.e.: after wartime build-up).

Armies and divisions are given numbers 1-10 and 1-100 but the platoons are given platoon 9 of battalion 7 for Danube 8 for example instead of labeling 1-100 per division or 1-1000 for the whole army. The platoons are labeled by which category they fall in. Categories are applied by which weapon each platoon uses, so I platoon 6 was flamethrowers then they will be labeled flame, M-16s Riflemen, and other such more classical terms. Platoons of more intricate weapons like flamethrowers, minelayers, radiomen (Vox Operators), mortar emplacement teams, and machine gun crews are dispersed around the division around the time of mobilization and will be stationed there until the end of hostilities.

Troops types include Assault Troops (Riflemen with better training, more ammo, satchel charges, and an MP5 with their M16s), diggers (Excellent at “digging in” with all the right equipment), Flamethrowers (Shoot highly concentrated Napalm, “natures toothpaste”), Heavy Artillery (The Pwkz Heavy Automatic Troops (Good heavy assault machine guns, potato masher grenades, and good training), Helicopter Superiority (Ground-Attack Helicopters) Transports, and Troops (Move about on the helicopters), Land to Air Emplacements (Self-propelled missile platforms), Machine Gun Emplacements (Some construction tools, and an 60 millimeter chain-gun), Minelayers (place anti-personnel, tank, and anything in between mines, automatic pistols the norm), Mortar Crews (small earth moving tools, sandbags, and mortars, inspired by Japanese crews, but modern, automatic pistol the norm), Minesweepers (detect mines, M-16s and automatic pistols), Panzerbattalion (Tank groupings, different variants of tanks, extra weapons include Panzerfausts, heavy automatics, and automatic pistols), Troops of Panzerfaust (Superb anti-tank weapon, even better against IFVs and reasonably good against helicopters, these troops have MP5s and are excellent troops, the best), Reconnaissance (Hum-Vs and Sherman Light Airborne tanks, modern ones, with assorted top weapons, heavy automatics and M16s troop norm), Recoilless Artillery (155 Millimeter Recoilless artillery with assigned Danube lorry, troops carry MP5s and automatic pistols) Riflemen (basic foot soldier, well trained, “potato mashers” for grenades, M16 for the norm but several sharpshooters and sniper men spread in, additions are usually made during fighting), Vox Operator (Radioman, M16 weapon, knows the Vox good and are all competent mechanics).

The General Staff appoints a divisional commander or someone who has drifted in the General Staff long enough to be the head of each operational theater. Each theaters boundaries and new theaters of war are dictated by the Danube General Commander in Chief, who can receive countermanded orders from the Chancellor, whose orders cannot be overturned.

Federacy’s Danube Troops of Moorington are dressed in a dull gray, good for forest and urban fighting, which are the two major landscapes permeating Moorington. All of the soldiers belongings are put on their backs for easy advancement in a special roll of dark gray paint, the rifle strap are used from left shoulder to right hip for easy firing for the right handed force of Moorish troops. Low coal hat looking helmets are intermingled with sharp point hats of the officers. The coal hats have a doomed top but have a slight upswing the back before coming back down for the purpose of deflecting bullets back out of the helmet if by chance the man in question is nicked in the face. The pointy helmets are for more show than any real usefulness beyond it’s better than your scull, it is receiving less popularity as it becomes obvious opponents may recognize the unusually drab officers by their helmets.

Italic and bolded letters mean fighting for the Federacy abroad.

AMW- Austria Motor Works:

Founded in 1956 AU (After Unification) it started out as a wheel, chassis, and motor maker and was widely praised for its first high performance models like the renowned 4-50 Thunderbird and T-55 Gyro. After taking a good bite out of the high performance market by buying out several competitors, producing quality equipment beyond the few independent companies, it branched off into government contracts, especially military oriented projects; giving superb engines that were incorporated into Dpkz I and II Main Battle Tank and Ulan Infantry Fighting Vehicle.

Wonder models such as those went a long way to spur rapid growth in the company, increasing its horizons to include luxury models economical models. With its trademark grace the company recently brought down the massive trust of MWC, The Motor Works Cooperation, which also signaled the end of the communist companies inside Austria, as the MWC had been the flagship for several prominent communist commerce figureheads. Looking out with an appraising eye, it tackled one major market that had not been really mined yet: niche models. From exuberant models that displayed LCD designs, drive on your stomach and full glass automobile models that market was a quick and interesting victory.

Gizatte- The Gizatte Company:

This company was founded, in 1989, as a backwater, special grade, luxury options producer and designer for automobiles, trucks, and sport utility vehicles. Bought by the massive conglomerate Waterhouse Incorporated, but was later spun out by Waterhouse when the company faced difficult times against smaller companies which were more price-effective. So in a major dismantling of the monopoly The Gizatte Company once again (with a relative of the founder, Mr.Gizatte) as CEO. As the company chugged along it finally reached the point which it could make its own luxury cars and did with the ACS and AFS models. Both were instant success and the living relative of Mr.Gizatte, Jeffry Theodor Gizatte’s brain child he was raised the head chairman. The company later expanded to encompass around 46% of the luxury car market, and the biggest percentage, within Moorington and continues to strive for quick action and being light on its feet.

Stille Inc- A massive series of companies that all pay heed to Stille Corp. /Incorporated Companies

Founded in Moorington, Moorington, in 1990, as part of the massive tech boom which swamped all expectations. The first to achieve the dreams of all the investors and financial advisors was Stille Company. It sucked up a major amount of companies and then spat them back out making their technology solely for the purpose of use within Stille Corporation. Stille Company changed its name after the merger with Damon Interactive to Stille Corporation and then to Stille Incorporated after the purchase of Handheld Games Company and Port PDS Cooperative. As Stille Incorporated gobbled up companies in the information sector it also was the leading producer in quality, price, and even time. Exploring new markets and capitalizing on markets almost before they emerged. The Incorporation still looks out to the feature but in a recent scrutiny by a panel commissioned by Abream’s anti-trust board. In a recent press release the board allegedly sent a 100 page finding on Stille Incorporated company actions and monopolization. Stille Incorporated then sent a 400 page report back stating corruptness, false facts, and general mis-information are the boards main attributes.

My Microsoft! Once again with Austrian themes, Stille Stille Stille was written by an Austrian composer in WWII (written for choir bells) and I just used it into my Microsoft
