::: FADE IN :::
Good Evening Ladies and Lads, this is Asus Norton, your SidTV correspondent reporting to you live from Honolulu where we've watched the unveiling of the new Stryker Fighter over the past few days. We told you a week or so ago about the unveiling of the new fighter as the result of a leak at W.M.D., Inc. and soon after that, W.M.D., Inc. issued a press release confirming the existence of the new plane. We are pleased today to bring you photos of the actual aircraft as well as the final specifications of the plane as put into service. Relying on research into the Coandra Effect and the use of the Reynold's stress model as well as advances in thrust vectoring systems, the Stryker is easily the most manuverable fighter jet in the history of modern avaiation. Capable of 11.5g turns at Mach 1.1 and a virtually 90 Degree controlled change of course at 700 mph, pilots of the new Stryker receive specialized physical training and wear specially made, gell cushion filled pilot suits with computer controlled pressure systems and use chairs tilted at a 60 degree angle (reminescent of 1960's astronaut chairs) to enable them to handle the high g-forces that this plane can experience in manuevers. What is most amazing though is the plane in action. First, the artist's sketch from which the plane came from:

Now, the real deal. Naval Commander Erica Kane informs us this pilot was suspended for 20 days for buzzing the Black Queen class carrier, Maui off the coast of Washington state

Naval Commander Erica Kane confirmed that the same pilot shown in the last photo is the same pilot shown leaving his own wake in the water off the coast of Seattle and that this stunt earned him an extra 10 days of suspension

While the weather was not the greatest, we did manage to get a great photo of a Stryker during a rainstorm in Honolulu

Here are two really great nose shots of the new plane we managed to obtain during the demonstrations the military put on for us

Finally, here is an overhead view we shot as we left Honolulu headed to Seatle to cover the possible war in Costa Rica between Sharina and Great Romeo

final specifications on the plane that were revealed to us during our stay in Honolulu are as follows:
Top Speed: Mach 1.8
Average Cruise: Mach 0.9
Crew: 1
Range (max): 2,900 miles
Effective fighter range: 1,300 miles
Thrust: 34,000 lbs, single W.M.D., Inc. BR-2015TF jet engine
Thrust Vectoring: Full 360 Degrees with 0 - 90 degrees (vertical) @ 60 degrees/4 sec. @700 mph @ height. (i.e. at 700 mph at optimal combat height, the plane can go from straight and level to straight up in less than 6 seconds).
Length: 51 Feet
Wingspan: 37.1 Feet
Empty Weight: 18,400 lbs
Max Ceiling: 40,000 Feet
Optimal Ceiling: 15,000 Feet
Hull: Plasticized, Honeycombed, Ceramic Titanium alloy
Weaponry:
A. Nose mounted 20mm Vulcan Cannon;
B. Thermal, laser and radar targeting;
C. (2) Interior bays - (optional, delete 2 heavy bomb underwing standoffs - if not used and converted to fuel storage add 1,500 miles to range (max) and 600 to effective fighter range) standard compliment requires interior bays or stand-offs only. Bays may contain up to 6 AAM missiles each;
D. (2) wingtip standoff, 1 missile each;
E. (8) under-wing/fuselage mounted stand-offs (maximum 8 - delete 2 if interior bays are used) - max 4 missiles each for 32 missiles with 4 standoffs capable of deployment of heavy bombs (assuming bays are not used) or similar munitions (standard load for invasionary support calls for 2 bombs and 6 - 12 missiles);
Stealth Capabilities: None
Defensive Measures:
A. tri-radar decoy signalling technology (if a radar "hit" is detected, the plane will match the echo signal with 3 more identical signals giving the appearance to tracking radar equipment of 4 planes when there is only one and confusing radar targeting systems);
B. rear targeted EMP pulse generator
C. W.M.D., Inc., SAL8400AI computer aided flight, targeting and firing controls
D. flares & standard radar chaffe mechanisms
E. GPS positioning and "shuttle eject" pilot ejection and safety feature
F. Redundant engine fuel supply system
Special Capabilities:
A. VTOL and carrier enabled;
B. computer aided, fly-by-wire controls;
C. AI targeting and defense system controls;
D. "self-shading," bullet proof glass canopy; and
E. "Heads up" display.
Cost: $71.5 million/ea.
The plane is specifically designed for air combat and support roles as a fighter jet and invasionary force support: "A fast and incredibly manueverable strike plane designed to take out the helicopters and other forces that might be waiting on an invasionary force as well as engage and defeat other fighters the enemy might have ready to halt the invasion." Said General Ripper during the announcement yesterday. I'll be back in a minute with your weather, but first . . .
OOC: Feel free to contact W.M.D., Inc.'s CEO, General Jack T. Ripper to place orders. However, please RP the order and don't just state something like "we'll take 400" I want to hear from people who'll RP a nation interested in the new design and pupported capabilities. Thanks.
