The smell of a coffe filled the room as raised voice echoed off ancient walls. A projector rolled with footage of press releases and maps of foreign shores casting an eery blue right on the dim and musty room.
It had been days since these men and women had slept. Since receiving their respective calls they were confined to this room in a long since forgotten corner of the Palace of Athens to give the government option in this troubled times.
Though these were the most powerful men and women in Rotovia, a single phrase brought them all to complete silence and awe.
"The President of the Constitutional Republic of Rotova! Long live the Republic!" Two Praetorian Gaurdsmen stompted and exited the room after delivering the official prenouncement, heard a hundred times a day by those who served in this building. The very centre of the Rotovian Government.
"...please, take you seats..." A hand gesture inclined the group to return to their seats. "What is the assesment of this Council?"
"Our Navy is serverly overstretched as it is, we have commited forces to Phalanix, securing Crete, the continued blockade of Rebeland and not mention the force dispatched in secret to The Conservative Union..."
The room nodded as the Vice President appeared to wait for her sentence to be finished by the one man who dare interupt a woman renowned for her ability to silence even the most hardened warrior with a single glance.
"...quote frankly we are not in a position to defend ourselves if we were attacked. The Navy is our strentgh and though it is largely successful abroad, The Homeland Fleet cannot defend us alone..."
"You cannot seriously suggest withdrawing our forces form their current conflicts! It is unacceptable!" The Minister for Defence had clearly struck a cord that soon had the table split to factions of opinion. Something the President was not one to tolerate.
"Ladies and Gentlemen... clearly we can neither withdraw forces, nor mount a successful defence if the Farminan situation were to sour... I need options"
"If I may..." A young woman at the rear of the room stepped forward. "...our greatest concern should be the aggression of Automagfreak. If AMF is successful in it's war with Praetonia, the supporters amoung whom we number will be soon to fall to hands of the more aggressive friends of AMF..."
"What, pray tell, is the possible relivence ot this situation?!" Began a General weighted heavily in metals of unknown design.
"Simple, we cannot mount a defence... so we must mount an offencive... If we can take out the ability of AMF's allies to support their war, then a Praetonian victory will be certain and there will be no need to concern ourselves just just yet with the Homeland.."
"This is lunacy! Just what are you thining young lady?! Hmm?" The General appeared to have turned a tone of colour normally reserved for tomatos.
"I was getting there, we invade The Parthians. A victory will force AMF allies to reconsider their stance and at the very least see them shy back to neutrality..."
"With what force? Hey?!"
"Simple, the forces already dispatched overseas are given a ordered to push for either quick and if need be bloody victories by a set deadline or we withdraw them mid-conflict... Our fleets already are position in such a mannor that within a week they could be in prime response positions. We push a blitz grade assault and can have the Fleets home in just over a month..."
"What kind of casaulties can we expect from this plan...?" A MInister of unknown office began.
"Two thirds the Navy at the motnh's end..."
"Good Lord!" Came the Vice President.
"Do it..." Shuffling a dossier the President rose from the table "...have Dr Hours brefied, I want an address ready for The Senate by nightfall and plans for Phase One by morning..."
"Yes, Mr President..."

OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL PRESS RELEASE
HANSARD OF THE SENATE OF ROTOVIA
"...this House will come to order, the floor is yeilded to the Member for Athens, the President, Senator Baccheus..."
"Thank you Madam Speaker... Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, we are a nation of a freedom, justice and truth. On these things we pride ourselves above all. It is these things for which we fight and for these things for which we live and die. It is the very essences of what it means to be Rotovian.
But in the world today there excist a dark spectre that haunts the spirit of freedom and threatens to decend upon us as if divined by Hades itself. This dark spectre threatens not only freedom within in its own borders but within that of our allies and within our own.
This spectre is an unholy alliance, to give it name, is the allies of AMF who seek to put under foot the freedom of the globe and hope of humanity. I have already called on this Senate to condemn the actions of this alliance and you have gladly done so.
However, now we stand faced with the roots of evil that have spread out accross the globe. Where they plant and oppress first their own people and then others. The worst of these I call upon this noble House to stop. This is the evil of Parthia.
I call upon this House to not allow evil to sweep the globe, but to draw a line in the sand and declare that freedom itself, Rotovia itself, will oppose it here. Stop it here, destroy it here and fight for glory, honour and goodness here.
It is your duty as Rotovians, as gaurdians of freedom and as human beings to pass the bill before you. Do not refuse to draw the line now, for it will be too late when evil knocks at our door to say, where is the line we once spoke off?!"

Official Statement from Shah Khosru
"In these trying times, where evil forces of Ahriman reign supreme over the holy and good soldiers of Ahura Mazda, it is up to nations such as Parthia to sustain the will of the Wise Lord of Heaven. I have done the will of Ahura Mazda since I was able to choose his path over the lie of Ahriman and his evil works.
I have seen the true mask to the illusionary concept of "freedom" in reality, it is nothing more than a sham designed to create class warfare and hatred. The idea of democracy is a farce, a system designed to gain the will of the people. It is in fact a bribery contest, it is a system made entirely so that government spending becomes catastrophic and no real reform can be made due to the squabbling of politicians!
No nation has long been sustained as a democracy, no great empire has come from them. Only absolute monarchy by a libertarian ruler can guarantee greatness. As the previous monarchs of Persia held sway over their empire with benevolence, like the great Cyrus, so too do I hold sway over the nation I rule with my benevolent hand.
For 1800 years, we have held against Romans, Arabs, Mongols, Turks, and many foreign nations. Like my ancestors Ardeshir, Shapur, Khosru I Anoushirvan, and the great Shahs of the past, so too shall I hold back the tide of enemies that seek to destroy the sacred motherland of Iran. We shall destroy whatever is sent upon us!
My people, be ready to defend your homes as the army goes to full mobilization. We shall ready the defenses we have prepared for this contingency. If they can break into our Iran you will assist us in the name of Ahura Mazda. Ready your arms, prepare to fight against the invaders until we can carry the war to their homeland!
My people and subjects, I, Shah Khosru, will deliver us from any enemies sent. Their armies will be devestated and the agressors made to pay for their crimes. I swear unto Ahura Mazda, I will not rest until I have smashed them and made them to pay a thousand times over for what they do!"

Then it is done, the sword has been pulled from the sheath and pointed at the Iranian motherland. We will not falter or fail, we will fight until all enemies are dead. Woe unto you O Rotovia, you have awoken a sleeping giant, your armies will meet the fate of so many others, from Crassus to Julian, we have crushed invaders.
Bring forth your armies and find but death in Parthia!

Inside the Presidential Office:
"...our fleets are still three days from Parthia, your Eminency..." Admiral Charter began.
"Mr President, many Senators are becoming quite impatient. Their constituents wan results soon..."
"...and the Patricians are talking of withdrawing their funding to the Imperial Navy over the passing of Cretian Governance to Farmina..."
"I need solutions, not problems people, and I need them now!" The voice of President Baccheus carried out to the corridors of the Palace of Athens. A man groomed to be Emperor from his first steps and democratic leader of the greatest nation in the Rotovian Empire, Rotovia itself, was a man whom commanded the greatest respect and attention when he spoke.
"An airstrike, you Eminency..."
"An airstrike...? But our fleets even at full steam could never move close enough to deliver a succesfull airstrike from their current locations..."
"Not if we have the Tridents Class Submarines ren-dez-vous with the carrier fleet from the Rebleland blockade... The Tridents class are each fitted with internal flight decks capable of launching, in theory, four of our smallest bombers... assuming they were significantly lightened..."
"Mr President, I'm not sure..."
"You never are Tom... Make it so, I want targets on my desk within the hour" Turning to the Minister for National Defence "Ivona, I want that girl promoted to Seniro Adviser, have that spinless lout who wasting space at the end of the table fired..."

Strait of Hormuz, Parthia
Ardakhshar Tehrani looked out as the rerouted oil pipelines spilled gallon after gallon of the sticky black liquid into the sea. Here, with the Persian gulf narrowing down to a strait capable of seeing across, the first stage of defence was to be placed.
The last vessels of the Parthian navy were finally passed through into the Indian Ocean, all that remained to do was to place a last ditch effort to prevent any attempt to land directly on Fars and march to Persepolis. It was up to Ardakhshar to do a duty to his homeland as he pulled the release lever in the control booth
Oil rushed across most of the strait as dozens of tanker vessels worth full of it was sent off into the sea. Once a sheet of black oil covered the water's surface, helicopters moved across it, dropping flares to light the oil on fire. The flames licked up, creating a sheet across the entrance of the Persian gulf. More oil continued to pour in from the pipes, hopefully, the fires would take over a week to burn out, perhaps longer.
The first step was laid, the Rotovian fleet would be unable to move in on the Persian gulf for a while, meanwhile, the Parthian fleet maintained a position 50 miles off the coast of Iran in the Arabian Sea. Missile silos built in Iran for this case activated as radar stations began to engage in search missions. Air garrisons began to fly patrol, F-78s swarming from airfields to comb the coastline.
Rotovia-

Fifty metres bellow the surface of the water a secret fleet, with a secret mission glided almost silently through the water. Above them flames licked the ceiling of sea.
The four vessels bore the insginia of the Imperial Navy proudly on their bows. On the furthest left of the four, Commodore Charters would seek his redemtion. A man never quite forgiven for not destroying the West Asian fleet, now commanded the single most important movement of this new war.
A drip of sweat fell from his brow as he informed they were entering range. He knew the Parthians would soon, if not already, know they were there.
With a shakey hand he drew the receiver to his head.
"The swan is on the lake...." There was moment of static before the response came "...let a thousand arrows fall..."
"Iniciate launch procedure! Convey my order to the fleet..."
Within a moment the tiny vessels rose to the surface.
Rising just in front of a rapidly growing oil fire, their bows eased out of the water.
In almost perfect sync the forward deck receded and a small launch deck clicked into place.
It took all of a minute for the tiny bombers to begin taking to the skyes.

Patrol 543, Off Bandar-e Abbas
The pair of F-78s moved gracefully though the skies, moving towards the mouth of the Persian Gulf. Below them, they could see the first bits of the flaming oil. Captian Bijan Taheri looked down at the inferno, thinking a bit about the fate of his nation and the war at hand. He sighed as he saw the destruction of so much precious oil, but knew it to be a good cause.
Turning his plane towards the sea, he moved down the fire, with his wingman in tow, their radars off as they looked around. Suddenly, dots on the horizon appeared, gradually growing in size. Captian Taheri turned around, moving back towards Iran as he radioed command, "Unidentified Craft in my Patrol region, assumed to be hostile. Send intercepting forces forward."
A cloud of F-78 fighters and F/A-91 strike planes now took off from the airbases around Bandar-e Abbas, moving in with missiles readied to smash anything moving through the Persian Gulf. F/A-91s prepared their Bireme ASMs, each one prepared to fire on the notice given by their commanders.

"This is Eagle One... we're picking up multiple boogies..."
The static laden message was received by the sunmarines, now slinking back into the water.
Commodore Charters, bringing a weighty mic to his mouth, began his response.
"Drop low and locate any available targets... I repeat any available targets...."
"Roger that, aquiring new target..." Wing Commander DuPort knew this would be the last mission he would fly, but darned if he would go down without a fight. "Eagle One to all aircraft, follow my lead..."
The planes immediatly dropped to just metres above the water. Heat from the their engines sending jet of water curling behind them.
"Charters to Eagle one, open EnigmaII Channel 81 to receive co-ordinates of powerstation within range..."
"Roger..."
DuPont flicked open the small metal case to his left, and quickly depressed a series of ketstrokes. Immediatly the LCD screen mounted to his veiwescreen displayed a collection of numbers, indicating his new target.
"Eagle One to Watersport... target detected... requesting launch authorization..."

Patrol 543, Persian Gulf
The radio crackled to life as Captian Taheri and his wingman activated afterburners to carry the planes back towards their base, "We've lost radar contact with the targets, Mithra 1, what is your status?" Captian Taheri answered, "It looks like they got a missile lock, I spose they dont know what this bird is capable of."
Captian Taheri dropped down, moving from the Persian gulf into the rugged mountain range of the Zagros rising from the shore, flying between the peaks hoping that the enemy planes would see their upcoming targets moving in on them.
Flight Delta
12 F-78s and 4 F/A-91s rocketed forward over the Persian Gulf, with the F-78s loaded to the brim with AAMs and F/A-91s carrying Bireme ASMs. Lieutenant Nerseh Chehrazi looked at the radar screen displayed in front of him on a small LCD monitor. The enemy contacts had dropped from the screen, apparently, they were either using some kind of active radar cancellation technology or something else.
"This is Shahanshahi Lead, activate missiles and prepare to shoot on sight." Flipping the activation switches to his missiles, he scoured the air for a visual sight of the enemies, preparing to move in on them once he spotted them.

Patrol 60-M Over the mouth of the Persian Gulf
The PC3 Orion curved slightly as a string of sonobouys slowly fell one by one out the back, covering the span of two miles with three sonobouys, each with a good range of detection. In the back, a sonar operator listened intently as the active sonars activated, each sending a loud ping through the water before sound waves were returning back once they hit a target. It seemed to be entirely normal, but a few anamolies on his scope seemed to be popping up. One after another, several targets mo
As the plane turned again, he watched as the anamoly became more and more pronounced, moving slightly. Picking up the radio, he called his commanders. "Command, this is 60-M, we have picked up signals rom sonar, assumed to be enemy submarines, ensure no friendly presence." Command responded within ten seconds. "60-M, computers show no friendly sub presence in your area, you are ordered to fire."
"Acknowleged."
The maritime patrol aircraft turned its bearing to face the subs and moved in. Dropping a pair of containers, they ruptured and let loose parachutes olding another canister, which fell into the water before breaking apart and letting a torpedo go. Using active sonar, the torpedo adjusted its course and rocketed away towards the enemy subs, followed by four more of the torpedoes.
Battery 334- 20 Miles from Bandar-e Abbas
The radio clicked to life in the command bunker, a central structure deep underground controlling several missile sites in the coastal region designed for defense against amphibious invasion. Many of these sites lined Parthian coasts from the Indus to the Shaat-al Arab, and they were designed to defend Parthia, each covering a large area, and rendered less useful against mass invasion fleets. However, they did pose a significant threat to smaller flotillas or battle groups. In Battery 334, they were about to make this known.
As the data collected from the sonobouys were relayed to the computer of Battery 334, five AGM-250 "Caesar" missiles flew out from various scattered vertical launch tubes, flying into the air as the solid fuel rocket engine slowly accelerated it to mach 3. Skimming quickly over the Iranian coast onto the Persian Gulf, it slowly reduced altitude before the rocket stage fell and revealed the torpedo each missile carried. Normally, the torpedo would detatch at 80 miles, and then use the magneto-hydrodynamic drive to bring it within 8 miles so the supercavitating engines would take ahold, but since the Persian gulf was so narrow, the torpedoes simply were to drop on the target, and then take the signals from active sonar to go supercavitating. Travelling at over 100 knots, there would be little time to respond.

Radars filled with blips as the aircraft rapidly ascended and split off to cover the distance from sea to inhabited land.
A small seaside town was rocked as low flying planes ripped apart the sky. They continued to cativate those bellow for the seconds before they let loose the fires of hell, courtesy Raysian engineered missiles delivery system.
A series of bright flashes tore from the planes and began an hit a large factory.

Gorazdun, Parthia- Satrapy of Pars
The seaside town was ripped by the sound of planes overhead and the explosion that ripped through the Khorbeh steel plant, the main employer for Gorazdun.
Angry civilians, now roused from their sleep began to provide examples of what nations that lack gun control can inflict on invaders. Some who had passed classes for identifying friendly aircraft and given a special permit now brought out the fruits of their labours, shoulder launched missiles were brought out of their cases while people sat on their roofs and fired away at the enemy aircraft. Civilian owned AA guns ripped through the sky.
At the nearby Teymorian Corporation owned power plant, the Parthian corporate soldiers prepared their defenses: a single SM-2 SAM battery. As soon as radar contacts were gained, four SAMs were fired away, aimed towards the oncoming planes.
Meanwhile, a siren on the police headquarters sounded, people stopped firing their SAMs, waiting as the Parthian squadron now moved from the ocean onto the coast, ripping above their heads as the people below cheered. F-78s rocketed forwards, preparing their AIM-210 XSRAAM missiles. As the enemy bombers were accquired on radar, fifteen of the missiles fired off, their solid fuel rockets carrying them away as the radar systems locked on, with their 3-D thrust vectoring systems providing maneuverability. At their maximum speed, they could reach mach 6.
The planes continued to close, arming their HAMRAAM missiles for the next volley.
"They did WHAT?" Minister of Defense André Flahaut almost burst into tears as he heard from a Camewottian spy in The Parthians. "Why has the world gone so agressive? It seems as though Praetonia and AMF put fire to a fireworks factory!" The servant next to him grinned painfully, his whole town was once put into ashes because of an accident in a fireworks factory. "I know Rik, I know, I'm sorry. Bring us some Praetonian tea, will you?" The servant nodded and ran away, leaving Flahaut alone with the plasma screen. Or was he? As soon as the servant was out of sight, he started talking to nobody as it seems, but once his words died, a wall moved itself and a hall leading down came in sight. Mr. Flahaut was tired. He had not been home for over a month now, seeing as Camewot was involved in several conflicts. The Emperor had forced him to stay in the ministry for safety purposes, but also to monitor the situations 24/7. Down the hallway, a group of generals and other government officials hadn't gone home for months. They had long foreseen this situation even before the actual war had started, and were typing documents for the Parliament and Senate all day long.
As soon as Flahaut entered the dark, sweat smelled room he took his usual seat at the head of the table and prepared for another shock. "Mr. Flahaut, we have prepared you a document about the Rotovia vs. Parthians situation."
Andrés eyes flashed through the New Time Roman letters and put down the document before the clock signaled the beginning of a new day. "Very well, how much is our participation needed in this situation?
Rotovia have commited theirselfes to a higher cause, the cause of freedom and have joined the Praetonian Alliance to try and eliminate some of AMF's more dangerous allies. The Rotovian navy is of a very high standard, but their ground forces suck. The opposite of our entire army. We ARE needed.
Do we have any more sources instead of a spy?
We are putting a satellite into orbit now, but it isn't easy so far.
Very well, I will contact Layla."
The minister worked himself upstairs and just as he sat down the servant came in with tea. He wondered how Rik hadn't seen the underground passage for many, many years.

The Shah sat, propped upon the silk cushions, smoking his qalyoun, puffing in the sweet smoke of the waterpipe before exhaling the fragrant powdery breaths. A servant rushed in through the bejeweled and gilded doors, throwing them open as he gasped for breath and prostrated himself, giving the news.
"Mylord, intelligence reports show the Camewottians are planning to assist in the invasion of our fair nation! We must act quickly, to dissuade them from their course of action."
Thoughtfully, the Shah spoke, "Give them a message asking them to avoid a situation that has no concern for them. Have Lord Savadkouhi send it."
Official Foreign Ministry Statement to Dr. Sarah Hours
I am worried by some of the efforts your government is attempting, namely, those hostile to my nation. Parthia does not seek war, rather, works for peace. I am concerned about certain desires of your government to assist the Rotovians in their crusade against Parthia, namely, to activley support an invasion.
I would like to remind your government, the nation of Parthia holds no ill feelings against the Camewottians, but will be forced to defend ourselves with all necessary means if it does come to war. Our military is perfectly designed and able to prevent a sucess on the Rotovians' part, and will in fact, never allow them anything but wholesale slaughter.
Please, understand that your entry into this war would be viewed as unfortunate, especially since none of Camewot's direct interests are harmed by Parthia.

MINISTRY FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS
Earlier this morning at the order of His Eminency, the Crown Prince, President Dionysus Baccheus, an assault by air was launched against the whore of Parthia.
We stand today at war, not against nation or land, but against evil and injustice. We fight for what in our hearts, mind & souls we know to be good and right. We fight for freedom itself and for this we cannot rest.
The Rotovian Navy has assumed a blockade of sea, which we know to be an act of war, and accept it thusly. Let no nation support the evil and oppresion that Parthia stands for. Let them rather embrace the banner of freedom that will wave above the bloodsoaked shores of a nation that calls itself faithful, but is instead a scarlet.

As the F-78s moved in, their missiles flying towards the bombers, they climbed up in formation, almost in unison, before activating a barrage of 15 Sidewinder II missiles guided by highly accurate LIDAR. The missiles flew off the racks, their rocket engines ripping into flame as they shot through the skies leaving smoke in the wake, zeroing in on the enemy bombers as the weapons accelerated, cutting though the air. The F-78s now prepared to close if the missiles failed to work, if the weapons were unable to bring the Rotovians down in flames.
Meanwhile, in the Persian Gulf, more maritime patrol aircraft moved in on the sonar contact. Five were in the air, circling around, each dropping a single pinging torpedo, being guided towards the enemy sub with the active sonar detector. One flew directly over the suspected area of the contact and unloaded a rack of depth charges, each one falling into the water and dropping to a preset depth before exploding and sending a smashing wave of pressure through the water.
