Hang up your FALs, fellas: the first RAF Weapons trials pt. 1
By CMSG. Stephen Q. Jennings, Media Corps.

The Ramsian Military has completed the first stage of It's first Military weapons trials. Over fifty diferent weapon and vehicle systems have been considered, and after a grueling series of trials in the Harsh frozen deserts of Antarctica, the Ramsian Armed Forces have decided the arsenal that will be carried, flown, and driven into battle until a suitible replacement is found. Although I am unable to include photos from the trials under pain of steep fine and Demotion --I'll leave it to you which is worse--, I am able to describe some of the weapons chosen.

Firsly, I should describe the RAF's new Designations. as they can be quite confusing.

SA: side arm. used to classyfy any firearm of last resort. eg. Pistols
R: Rifle
G: Gun, Grenade, ect. used to classify specialty weapons such as Shotguns and Grenade launchers
M: used to describe heavy weapons such as crew served, mounted, or cannon and rocket systems
V: Vehicle
C: Aircraft, Cargo
U: Aircraft, Utility
A: Aircraft, attack
I: Aircraft, Interceptor
F: Aircraft, Aerospace superiority

R7: The main infantry weapon of the Ramsian Armed forces to replace the Right arm of the free world in our arsenals. simaler to the G3 in the sense that it operates on the principle of roller delayed blowback. It features a modular design allowing it to be configured for any use, environment, and caliber. features the integrated rail system for easy attachment of mission specific equipment.
Caliber: varies depending on configuration.
Magazine Capacity: varies depending on configuration.
Variants;
R7A: In it's standard Configuration, the R7A is to be issued to the basic rifleman. Using the brutally effective 6x55mm Grendel Cartridge, the R7A enjoys a flat trajegtory, and superb accuracy. The R7A in testing was equipped with IRS rails on the foregrip, and on top of the receiver.
Caliber: 6x55mm
Length: 1026 mm

Caliber: 6x45mm, 6x55mm
Length: 1026 mm
weight(empty): 5kg
Magazine Capacity: standard magazine depending on configuration, disitegrating belt reccomended.

R7D: Designed specifically for the Designated Marksman, the R7D resembles the R7A in almost every way except it's used of a high powered scope, bipod, and furniture. it looks to have a free floating barrel, though this seems unlikely considdering it's a semiauto weapon.

Length: 1026 mm
weight(empty): 4.5kg
Magazine Capacity: 20 standard box, 50 in low profile drum

R7E: Short Carbine/Personal defense weapon. accepts the standard Magazines of the intermediate caliber, the R7E is to be issued to Vehichle crewmen, artillery operaors, and anyone else who's mission disallowes them from using either the R7A or R7B.

SA12: The primary sidearm of the Ramsian armed forces. A single action pistol featuring a gas system Identical to the Steyr GB. Use of the integrated Rail system allows the fitting of a wide range of accesories such as lights, laser sights, Taser cartriges, or a special bayonet. Why one would need a Bayonet fitted to a pistol is beyond me, but this was aparently a direct request from the Specialist Corps. I think we can all agree that they are insane.

two of the more unusual vehichles accepted were the V12 light tank, and the A38 Close air support fighter.

The V12 is a very small, four wheeled tank with a three man crew, and a 40mm cannon. although I doubt it would do well against other, larger tanks, After witnessing the accident that occured involving the V12 prototype and another applicant tank --a much larger tracked vehicle with a 120mm cannon and somewhat heavier armor. the main gun on the V12 prototype malfunctioned, putting a hole right through the other tank. it was a good thing the vehicle wasn't occupied, as the crew compartment was torn up.-- I'll say that this was a good choice. The V12 is also capable of replacing it's wheels with treads.

The A38 is a twin engine prop driven airplane, resembling the old P38 of WWII fame exactly save for materials used, and armament. The A38 is armed with five M5 13mm heavy machine guns, and six hardpoints. The two outer wing hardpoints are capable of carrying various rockets, missiles, and bombs. The inner hardpoints can only carry bombs and fuel tanks due to the propellers being in the way. Considering another attack aricraft, the A22, was also adopted, we can assume that the A38 is intended as a bush plane.

The final item I'm allowed to wite of for now is the country's new fighter, the I77 "Pugnator Hominum" Interceptor. Bearing an unsettling resemblance to the Me162 Volksjager of the Nazis, the I77 seems to be quite capable. Two versions were flown during the trials; the I77, the base plane, and the I77T, a Trainer with the two 23mm cannons removed to make room for a second seat. Sporting two turbojet engines with Thrust vectoring, foreward swept wings, and four missile hardpoints, the Agile "Pug" was able to beat the next closest competetor out of the contract, the Venerable F20 Tigershark. Although the two planes are fairly evenly matched, more or less.

The next stage of the trials are to begin in a few months, and if this first stage was any indication, the next one should be quite interesting, indeed.
