OOC: This is a shoot-off thread from the Automagfreek/Praetonia War thread. Participants, post all future OOC comments in the main AMF/Prae OOC thread, please. Anyone else, this is CLOSED. TAGs are welcome, but please keep yourself limited to one brief post for a TAG and short comment.

Admiral Ben Cordell, Chief of Naval Operations, watched with a hint of anxious sadness as the six superdreadnaughts of the Halberdgardian Navy were readied for deployment. Doomingsland, a large supporter of Automagfreek and his Gholgoth allies against Praetonia, had been chosen as the target of invasion by a tripartite coalition of Praetonian allies: Halberdgardia, Jagada, and Willink.

Doomingsland was a massive nation, to be sure, and it was rightly feared by a few nations who had battled against it. The Halberdgardians could only hope for the success of their operation. They were fighting against a massive opponent, more massive than any one before. For once, victory was not certain. Strategic Missile Command began to think that perhaps this was the moment they had been rehearsing for for so long; that, just maybe, Halberdgardia would actually have to wield its terrible weapons of mass destruction against an enemy.

But for now, troops were preparing for invasion. Naval armadas were prepared to cross the seas to Doomingsland. The six superdreadnaughts, the crown jewels of the Imperial Navy, were all being readied for the attack. Doomingsland was about to be hit when they least expected it.

Lebanon, Willink

Willink Commander in Chief Michael White scanned the many maps littering the Military command center, deep within willink. The room was poorly lit, and filled with the best and brightest in the willink military, veteran commanders that came to light in Saharistan, Colorado and Texas, Montignac, and Very small island.

The willink navy, small by most standards, would play a minor role in the battle that willink commanders had practiced and rehearsed over and over again. Willinks massive reserve force had been barley mobilized, over 30 million men prepared to serve their beloved country. Willink mechinized divisions were preparing to ship out. The ten nuclear ballistic missile subs had already crept out into the open sea.

Willinks 14 aircraft carriers, decks loaded with MiG-1.42K fighters, left their massive berths. Willink troops said goodbye to their families, and reported to the closest docks to board the transports. This was it, the battle that would shape the history of Willink forever...

IC:

Imperial satelites had quickly seen the mobilization of the enemy navies. Of course, there was no way to know their intention, or any reason to even suspect them of preparing to make war on the Empire. These three nations were far below their radar.

In fact, when the Emperor recieved his daily intellegence report regarding the world, he skipped over the part mentioning the mobilization of their navies, having never even heard of any of the nations. This would gradualy changed as their course and heading became apparent and they drew closer to the Doomingslandian Subcontinent. By that time the military would be on increased readiness.

Even with their six superdreadnoughts, the Allied Fleet would have a very difficult time making it to the mainland. If they could make it.

The Emperor hadn't officialy pledged his support to Gholgoth, as Doomingsland had virtualy no diplomatic relations with Automagfreek. The only reason he wanted in on what looked to be the next world war was because the Empire's sworn enemy, Sarzonia, was on the other side.

Praetonia was also seen as the Empire's most likely adversary in a future war, and were constantly viewed with suspicion. Everyone in the High Command jumped at the oppurtunity to hurt these two when the chance arose.

Willink space command, Iberra, Willink

Willink surveillance satellites had begun carefully scanning the country of Doomingsland, create a map of sorts, showing major cities, Military bases, Places on interest, and missile silos. Once the map was complete it was to be copied and sent to Halbergardia and Jagada.

General Jackson tapped his M9 on the table impatiently. Willink military planners began to create a war plan. Hit the enemy when they least expect it, at the poorest defended area, then use armored thrust to move as far forward as possible, before waiting for reinforcements. A willink intelligence ship, the WNF- Aurora bay, sat 100 miles off Doomingsland, listening for anything important. Willink K1A1 and Type 90 tanks had began loading into transport ships, were they would deceive any hint of attack on Doomingsland by being transported to Very small island, which would appear to be reinforcing Willink positions there. The first plan of the attack was to launch tomahawk cruise missiles at key targets in Doomingsland; air bases, radar installations, and SAM sites.


HSV-2's (http://www.webmutants.com/strategypage/hsv-2.jpg) loaded Infantry and IFV's into their vehicle hold, and sped toward Very small island. The Willink MiG-1.42 were loaded up with JCM air to surface missiles, AA-11s(20km) and R-77M1(200km) air to air missiles. Tanks test-fired their SABOT and HEAT rounds, along with High-explosive rounds, and were loaded onto the Foudre class (http://homepage.eircom.net/~steven/images/foudre269.jpg) amphibious ships. Willink vehicles were crammed into the ships, then when it was completley full, the bay door was closed...


OOC- Doomingsland, do you have a map of your country ?

[Location unknown...heading towards Doomingslandian Subcontinent]

The Jagadian Grand Fleet sailed towards the Doomingslandian Subcontienent for the sole purpose of crushing a potential enemy. Jagada had joined on the side of Praetonia, Doomingsland had shown support towards Automagfreek. Jagada had no foul feelings toward the Empire of Doomingsland, but a massive war was over the horizon. Jagada could spare not oppurtunity, not advantage, no time; in order to make Automagfreek weaker, Doomingsland would have to be made to submit. The Jagadian Grand Fleet, under the command of Admiral Hughes, was well aware of the fact that satelliates were watching their moves. Just as Jagada was watching Doomingsland via the same way.

The Grand Fleet had at least four carriers, capable of carrying close to 365 fighters or fighter/bombers in all. It was a Macabee desgin. The other major force was the 16 Elusive-class battleships. If this fleet didn't break threw the Doomginsland fleet, then nothing would.

[Del Rio, Jagadian Strategic Command Headquarters]

A flurry of encrypted communications and labour caused the usually very quiet headquarters to be up in a roar. The status on close to two-hundred cruise missiles, fifty-five nuclear ICBMs, and a good number of smaller, but powerful missiles were being checked. While a number of system tests, which were long overdue, began and a good number of flaws had been found and were being rooted out.

Jagada had never in its history been required to use their weapons of mass destruction against any foreign nation, only against itself in times of civil wars. Though Jagada would never consider a nuclear strike against another nation, due to the massive public outcry against offensive useage of nuclear weapons.

There's the map (not completely finished, but you get the idea).

Doomingsland's terrain consists of the following: desert, desert, and, oh yes, desert. Crematoria is probably the most hellish area in the whole country, having no physical terrain features (it's just miles and miles of flatness) but having an average surface temperature of nearly 140 degrees.

The area with all the rivers (Jararium) is more of a Sahara-type situation: rolling sand dunes, extremely hot, inhabbited by hundreds of small hostile nomadic clans. The rivers themselves are heavily poluted, however, the locals have been drinking from them for so long they're basicly immune.

The area around the capital (Doomingsland Superior) is more of an Afghanistan-style area, rough, mountainous terrain, hot and dry, lots of places for guerrilla fighters to hide.

Now, the one thing that makes invading Doomingsland so damned difficult is that the vast majority of the coast are sheer jagged cliffs, meaning landing operations are nearly impossible. The one exception is the area south of the Arretium Penninsula (the penninsula with the city of Arretium). There is roughly a fifty mile stretch of beach that extends inland 1,000 meters or so upon which it becomes sheer, jagged cliffs. However, this can easily support a beachhead if one were to try and land there.

Also, trying to support a large army would be extremely difficult due to logistical issues (your thousands of miles from the nearest friendly outpost in a desert. Put two and two together.) In fact, your biggest enemy will probably end up being dehydration if you actualy manage to land.

The Pentagram, Phantasmo, Freudotopia.

General Sinister, the most terrifying figure in Freudotopia and the wielder of tremendous military authority, strode through the halls of the Pentagram, the high command center of the Freudotopian Imperial Armed Forces. His black cape billowed behind him, and staff and aides from all departments scurried out of his way. He reached his destination, and paused in front of the massive titanium doors of the Imperial Military Command Center, the nexus at the core of the Freudotopian armed forces. His voice coming harsh and cold through his helmet, he spoke his recognition code, and the doors slid open.

General Sinister was greeted at once by his closest adviser, Marie de Sable, who handed him a dossier labeled OPERATION: RIPTIDE. Hurrying to keep up with his long stride, she briefed him on the developing situation.

“General, High Command has been in contact with Marcus Augustulus of the Doomingslandian Operational Strategy Division. They have contacted us in regard to the recent naval mobilizations in several small nations picked up by our intelligence people several days ago.”

“Yes, Miss de Sable,” the dark general interjected, “I read the reports. What does the military of Doomingsland want us to do in response?”

“Well, sir, they have asked that the FIAF be placed on alert, and that we contact them in regard to these events. The Doomingslandians, including Emperor Helldawg, believe that the intentions of these fleets may be hostile.”

“Put all divisions on immediate alert. I want all the commanders here by 1300 hours, and I want to speak with Emperor Hudson.”

“Right away, General.”

Later...

General Sinister sat at the head of the conference table in the video communications room, surrounded by his division commanders, the heads of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Military Intelligence. The men had come to the decision that all efforts to ascertain the intent of the fleets on course for Doomingsland were to be made, the military would be kept in readiness, and constant contact would be kept with Doomingsland’s military commanders.

The video screen lit up, and another conference table in another identical room in Doomingsland came into view. General Sinister spoke.

“I am General Sinister, and I speak for Freudotopia. What do you wish of me?”

OOC: I'll be joining this RP shortly on the side of Halberdgardia. I'm here to counterbalance Freudotopia and add some major firepower to this alliance ;)

OOC:Yeah, I've been meaning to address that issue. Willink, with all that's going on at the moment, I don't think you'd be able to afford to field an expeditionary force coming after me.

I dont pay my troops, All money from my storefronts goes strait to the defense budget, and other than that, i hav'nt really though about it

[OOC: Well paying your troops isnt the main problem, because you also need to worry about gas, food and ration, and various other things. I dont think the money from a storefront would cover it. You have been fighting alot of wars and put all the things you need money for, well your kinda broke. Look at the U.S., costs 1 Billion a day to fight in Iraq, and im sure theirs more forces in your army then the current U.S. forces in Iraq so uh...you know.]

OOC: Actually, that's not such a bad idea, although realistically, we would have some idea that someone would show up to defend SU, if not who exactly it would be. I think it's a good plan, but I can't speak for Doom.
