Well I was watching the trailer for the new Elder Scrolls game, Oblivion, and I got this idea. It's a medievil character RP about a Kingdom besieged by daemons and such.

Map information

There is a lush kingdom, full of grasslands and beautiful mountain ranges. There are 3 towns, one in the northern mountains and is a snowy paradise; one in the southern grasslands; and one in the eastern forests near the sea.

In the middle there is a great hill with the Castle of the King sitting on top of it. The Castle is basically the Castle(obviously) and a small town of people. It is also where the main army of the land is garrisoned. But in the towns there are garrisons of guards and troops to keep order.

But besides this, there are many underground caves and tunnels, filled with treasures and monsters. And on the surface, there are many wild animals that will both attack you, and leave you be if you leave them be.

Storyline:
The Kingdom of Cydoriil has a long history on the great island. It's benevolent and wise ruler, King Tiber Septim VII. It is the closing years of the third era, and the King is has become old. To the west, in the cave of Mornhold, the gates of Oblivion(hell) have been opened. From it's doors, come the powers of hell, in both the form of monstrous deadra(deamons with dark armor and great twisted weapons); and in the fact that now the dead rise from their graves in the underground caves, tunnels and tombs.

A massive army of deadra has massed and has spread throughout the land, mainly taking old ruins, the underground caves and tunnels as forts and bases. While they have not marched on the settlements or the Kingdom directly, they have basically taken the land and are preparing to strike the Castle.

From each of the towns, a child born to uncertain parents on certain days have been selected by fate; and have been charged with the destiny of traveling the lands to keep their people safe, and one of them will ultimatly be the chosen one who will with the help of the others, defeat the dark lord and close the doors of Oblivion.

RP Details

I will RP both the King and the armies and guards of the land. 3 other people will create their own heroes to be the 3 chosen ones; and another can sign up as the dark lord and create stats for him to.

The 3 chosen ones can travel the land solo and do as they please, or they can team up with the others and fulfill the prophecy of the chosen one. But in the end, they will have to team up to push back the evils and save the kingdom. But if they wait too long, the army of deadra will unite and march on the Castle, making for a large battle. If any one of the 3 chosen ones dies before Oblivion can be closed, then all is lost.

The dark lord however, must go around in the shadows of the night and rarely make appearences to people. It is his job to corrupt the minds of the towns people and turn them to his cause, while going around and bringing together the armies of deadra.

All players can RP their own battles against themselves, except if it's against the guards or other personel of the Kingdom. So for example, if you want to fight a nix-hound(an animal) then you can RP the whole thing yourself.

That's basically it. The first 3 people to post stats about either one of the 3 chosen ones, or the dark lord will be accepted. Suggestions are also welcome.

TAG: I call Dark Lord!

Oh yeah, one more thing. For the 3 chosen ones, they aren't told of their destinies, but are merely thrust into them and find things out as they go. So have fun RPing with that.

Oh, and there is magic in the game too. In every town there is a Mages Guild(which you can join and do missions for if you like) and at these mages guilds you can be taught in magic skills or you can be teleported to any of the other towns including the castle.

Of course you can't keep using magic, you have to rest and recharge. Be realistic!

The list of magic abilities is as follows(of course the dark lord has many other ones too):

Divine Intervention(teleports you to the closest town)
Levitate
Water Walk
Water Breath
Cure Common Disease
Third Barrier(gives you a temporary forcefield)
Fireball
Feather(in case your carrying lots and need to make a quick getaway, it makes you light as a feather)
lightning(cast a ball of electricity at your enemies)
Summon Skeleton Warrior(summons a skeleton warrior for a short time that will help you)
Night Eye(lets you see in the dark, sort of like night vision)
Unlock
Detect(lets you find what your looking for fast)
Chameleon(become invisible for a short time)

Birthplace - Green Field
Appearance - 6'1, athletic but actually muscular, scar on his right cheak. Black hair, brown eyes.
Abilities - Cure Common Disease, Skilled Swordsman, Adept Bowman ( Will learn more )
Bio - Josef was boorn in small simple farm town of Green Field. He had lived a simple childhood and adolecense untill the recent horrors. He was forced into joining the town militia when strange creatures began raiding the small town, killing and pillaging and looting food. Some of the many who were killed was Josef's mother and father. They had been outside working in the fields as Josef was training in the local militia barracks. In the middle of his verbals lessons, the town bell was rang. Josef quickly grabbed a sword, as many others did, and ran out to answer the call. Most of them were recruits and were only armed with what they grabbed, which ranged from melee weapons such as short swords all the way to a crude wooden bow and a few arrows.

It was too late. Josef and the others arrived just as the monsters were leaving. Josef was suddenly stricken with fear and ran to his home, he shouted about for his parents but couldn't find them. Josef moved through the toorn up house as quickly as possible untill he made it to the back door that lead to there farm, and when he was there he found his parents laying in a puddle of blood. They were toorn up, and his father was missing his arm. Josef puked at the site and couldn't help him self stand, he was used to blood but not the blood of his parents.

Ever since then Josef has been training vigorously at the small barracks, and has exceded even the eldest of sword fighters.

OOC: I just wanted to get the bio out of the way. Also, I think it is alright to have one focus for a regular adventurer, and so I picked being a Swordsman. Also, could you have people join the military?

Wow, now there's lots of people who want to join. So...I guess I could open it up a bit, have 3 people be the chosen ones, and then others can just be like adventurers and important people along the way.

What type of RP system are we talking about? a purely rp/storytelling system? if so, how do we make characters? I'm interested, but would like to know what exactly I am getting into.

it's basically story telling, and you make up your own characters and everything, but there is a storyline, and I as the kingdom move the storyline along by helping to reveal things to the players so that they can complete what it is they have to complete.

Your's is all good except for the power to control the insects. That's not on the given list of abilities that everybody but the dark lord(he get's lots more) can have.

How many abilities are allowed?

I still need to make a few additions to mine, mainly abilities.

Well, everybody(excluding the dark lord) can start out with basic chainmail armor(if any at all), a tin dagger, 50 gold, and 1 magic ability. To learn other abilities you have to go to the various mages guilds(RPed by me) and pay for lessons in them. To get better weapons and armor, you must to smiths and weapon crafters(also RPed by me.) Or you can steal weapons, armor, gold, and other items that might be of worth.

I'll start out with a Water Walk ability (I assume that's...you know...walking over water?)

So looting tombs is in?

Yup, like I said in the first post, there are many caves, tunnels and tombs all over the landscape. But in them are skeleton warriors, ghosts, and even deadra in the good ones.

You can find things like gold, weapons, armor, items(mainly skulls which can be sold to apothecaries at the mages guild; vases which can be sold to the traders and general stores; and other things like that)

BTW, added a magical ability to my character, fireball.

Draconis, you can be an adventurer that can meet one of the chosen ones in like a tomb or something and help them for a bit, revealing more about what they have to do. Then you can either keep helping them and the Kingdom, or be turned to darkness by the Dark Lord.

Either way I'll telegram you details about somethings I'll have you do to help the chosen ones when the time comes, but other than that, you can do pretty much what you want and have fun RPing.

Nope, the old frail king is basically the leader, and once the prophecy is completed, then the RP will be done pretty much, unless one of them dies and we have to do a big war at the end, then everybody will fight.

Uh...no. The dark lord is Chronosia.

And on top of that, both of you, your applications aren't accepted into the game. Because the elf girl is too powerful, and doesn't fit in with the story; and there are no wolfmen.

And Scandivans is the last Chosen One. So here is all the positions for you guys, and I'll start the actually RP tomorrow.

And remember, wild animals, undead(found in tombs) and deadra are RPed by whoever is facing them. This allows you to make cool battle scenes without having to wait for a reply.

Here is a brief description of what each of your roles will be:

Mages Guild-Theao, your job is basically to RP with anyone who comes into the various Mages Guilds. There they can either join the Mages Guild and take missions made by you; you can train them in the ways of magic; or you can teleport them to the other Mages Guilds for gold. Also, if a big battle comes at the end, then you will RP all the wizards and such in that battle.

The Chosen Ones-You guy's jobs will be to make the RP good. You start out in your home town; and you venture out as an adventurer, seeking treasures and such. On your adventures, you will come across things hinting at your chosen destinies, and will be nudged towards completing them. I will basically be all those signs and hints; but some will come from the other adventurers you meet in your travels. When the final battle between the 3 chosen ones and the Dark Lord comes, the 1 actual chosen one will be revealed.

The Dark Lord-Chronosia, have a field day! Your job is to go around in the shadows of night, or stalk around the forests. You can even take a human form and walk the towns, corrupting people and turning them to your side. You have the most powers out of anybody, and are extremely strong; but unfortunatly you don't get to use them until near the end. But if you want, you can fight different revolting deadra to keep them in-line or make them follow you in your campaign against the Kingdom. You can even go around and try to corrupt the other players.

The Adventurers-You guys' job is to go around doing whatever it is you want. Have fun RPing as you pillage, plunder, rob, murder, loot, and do whatever else you want to do. Just remember, you will meet with one or more of the chosen ones along your paths, and when that happens I will contact you via telegram and tell you what you have to do. Other than that, have fun, and watch out for Chronosia, he might try to turn you!

Actually I just realised I'm going to be busy for most of tomorrow, so I'm going to start the thread now. I'll post the link for it on the front page and on this page for you guys.

One thing I've thought about is that a tin dagger isn't really going to stand a chance against most monsters, my character will have to mostly rely on his fireball ability.

Quick question: how aware of/able to use their ability are they meant to be right now? I assume they can't use them yet.

Your starting abilities are weak at the moment basically. Everybody(excluding the dark lord and mages guild of course) starts out with their magic ability at weak. Going to the mages guild they can train it to be medium and strong.

Weak means that while still doing the same thing, I takes you about 10 times before you actually get the spell right and cast it.

Medium means you have to wait about 5 times

And Strong means you can do it almost everytime; if you have enough power. Remember, you can't just keep casting spells without rest.

Whoever owns Green Field, could you start a topic for Green Field? Or post the link if you have already.

Hey Ravea, I don't know why you said you had to sneak out of the town. There is no law against leaving or anything, but then, your post was good, so I'll forgive ya :p

Well, don't you think it would be a little suspicous for a random guy to be running into the forest in the middle of the night with a swordstaff? Plus, an archer might mistake him for a large animal and shoot. And that would most likely suck for me.

Yeah I think everybody forgot that there is a Mages Guild in every town that can transport them instantly to any other one. But I guess they wanted to wander out and kill things so they can sell their hides.

Well, form your last post, it sounds like your in the snowy forests still pretty much up in the north. But you'll arrive in the great forests of the east soon, and could meet up with Ravea and Draconis as they robe a tomb or something. Or perhaps you could go far east, and fine the sea along with some fishermen, and they take you to Mor' Gan where you can re-supply and take the Mages Guild to Cyrodiil or something. I'm sure Theao would be most happy to oblige since it will be his first post in the thing.

Ok, apologies to both (and DN, no offence, but to judge by some of your post times, you must be nocturnal or something). Anyway, I had Briel heading west, but I now realize there's nothing there. So I'll have him jag south-east, and meet up with Theao.

Just a reminder to all the adventurers and heroes, there is a Legion garrison in each town where you can join the Legion. Joining the legion will get you a free cuirass and you can do missions to get more armor and weapons; as well as gold sometimes.

Plus you can join the Mages Guild run by Theao, letting you make gold and get potions and scrolls and such for doing their missions.

Go around, join some places, have some fun.

So the guidlines are they have to be a elderscrolls themed newbie character that is not apart of any guilds. Since the hero slots are filled you must be a character that supports the other characters. So could I put my character in the blades at the start? Only that he is justa new guy to the blades?

First off, sorry sign up is closed. Second, it uses the races and animals from Elder Scrolls, but is not set in the Elder Scrolls universe; and the mages guild and legion are basically the only things you can join.

Hey Scandivans, your old armor would not be in the same place, and if you claim you held that high rank before, you would not have had chainmail armor. Please change your post saying you found your old sword, you'll be issued a legion sword after a few missions, along with more armor. Right now you have just been given a simple weak chainmail cuirass by the guy down in the armory, nothing more nothing less.
