Within 3 years he was able to finally stabalize what was once the most unstabalized economy in the world. (OOC: Well, I can't really make a good comment on this as it seems pretty far from completion. Although it seems so far so good. Like you mentioned, there's still quite a lot could be added.

Classifying everything in your military kinda leaves things to mysterious. You don't have to list every detail, but at least, something, would be nicer, and far more informative than "Classified.")

Beth Gellert

OOC: Slight problem I'd like to point-out before someone comes along to call you a n00b or something else insulting: your military seems to be significantly over optimistic. You appear to have a little shy of 10% of the population accounted for in the military, seemingly as well-trained army or else navy and air force personnel. That's way over the top... I think something like twice North Korea's level of militarisation, which, I think you'll agree, is not really workable.

In reality, most nations have far less than one in every hundred citizens in the regular military, not close to one in ten, and even extreme cases that tend to coincide with under-investment elsewhere and with poor training standards the levels are unlikely to be sustained at anywhere near one in twenty.

I hope you don't mind the long post, but I think it might be helpful for me to say more. In Beth Gellert, a left-socialist/anarchist society, all able comrades are enroled in the Commonwealth Guard, following the Parisian National Guard of 1871, but these are not regular soldiers, nor are they paid, they are merely citizens with access to arms and to training opportunities (but not requirements). That is workable, but not to everyone's tastes (especially if you're afraid of a coup/revolution), and not always reliable... certainly no use as an offensive weapon.

Otherwise, I'm inclined to feel that it'll be hard to keep much more than 1% of the population in regular service, and that if you do, it will be a largely straight-leg (none mechanised) affair that's a nightmare to keep trained and mobile et cetera et cetera.

Sorry if that's more confusing/boring than helpful, it's pretty darn late :)

[QUOTE=GuevaraZapataVilla]
Demographics: 97% Mexican (Spanish and Portugese Decent) [QUOTE]

I'm sure its so obvious that this also includes Native American decent since its in the Americas, but I'd include it anyway especially considering the country's name.

Because this is a RP you can make up whatever you want. But it is highly unlikely that this scenario could have occurred, not without some major events in between. While (US President) Wilson may have turned a blind eye to this revolution if it seemed democratic, the US certainly would not have appreciated a socialist state at its borders. Granted, Zapata was pushing land reform that basically was fighting against feudalism and private property rights could have survived once it was distributed to the peasants that were working the land, with Guevara in the name, the country sounds like its socialist and will have communal farms. Thus expect US invasions or interventions. With stuff like the Zimmerman telegram going on, the US would have been afraid that there was German involvement and been able to use that alone as an excuse, let alone US economic interests were at stake. Include events of wars and how Zapata managed to not be assassinated. Also its highly doubtful that in less than three years the country is stabilized. Where did the investment for the transportation come from? Where did the investment for the construction of industry come from? Even without a US blockade, foreign investment would have dropped once people saw that if they invested there and failed they would get nothing, and if they invested there and succeeded they would get nothing or very little once it was nationalized (also add the cost of the high taxes the national government would have been tempted to put in.) And this is assuming that the country would have been stabilized just by knocking out the top leadership, I think there is enough evidence in history to show that people continue fighting, even those that would have joined for opportunistic reasons with Zapata. So getting all of Mexico to join under one banner within such a little time seems unlikely. If the country's agricultural program was like the early Soviet Union then you can't expect there to be the levels of prosperity that were boasted. The communist agricultural programs ended in famine, remember that Lenin's New Economic Policy had to be put in for a reason. And again, for natural resources, where will the capital for building new facilities, maintaining old ones, hiring new people, transporting goods, etc, come from. And like one of the earlier posts said, you might get a high employment rate if everyone is drafted in the military, but they won't be producing anything of value that will raise standards of living. The factories will just be suppling the government with more weapons, not consumer goods. But even if you don't have such a large military, where will you get a 4% poverty rate in five years? How is poverty defined? No other country has done this with such a plan. Most have failed. Who will provide the factories, the jobs? How socialist is the country? Are they just out to nationalize things or to distribute wealth? If the government pushes to fast there will be a brain drain. The government may be able to live off seized wealth for a while, but without investment (which won't happen if the government seizes everything) there won't be much more production. The government would have to learn all sorts of new things it wasn't doing before, ensure patronage or corruption doesn't occur, create some kind of incentive so people (or factories) who work harder will get more than ones that don't, and try not to be bribed by certain industries demanding more money. Also, people may not like seeing all their money going into industry when they have their own problems on the farm (this has happened else where.) So basically, the country has a idealistic history that doesn't seem plausible if there was little property rights.

okie ok i see what you mean so ill be working on a history timeline to show the events soon and then really map out time length for things to stabalize and what happened with US and so on ill be working on it over the weekend thanks for the imput
