Invasion! Help needed! (Open R.P)

*Humn rammed another magazine into the breech of his H.S.W, his spotter, Tim Knight, murmurred to him.
"Jeez, these beggars don't give up do they!"
"They sure don't" He replied, grimacing down his SUSAT sight. From his position in the border post bunker, he had seen the first units trying to force their way through the barbed wire.
First had come the tanks, crushing through the dense mesh, before being knocked out by MILAN systems. Complacent in their aggressiveness, the Enemy troops did not realise that the border units were heavily armed, in well armoured position.
And now the second wave came forwards, screaming their war cries. They were moving forwards, in the open, without any support from artillery, planes or armour!
Madness, Humn thought, human wave tactics died after the Korean war! This was crazy.
But nethertheless, he had a job to do, so he picked out the officer group, and gently squeezed the trigger, sending a burst of hot lead straight into the targets legs, they went down, twisted and screaming.
Losing their officer H.Q, the main body of the troops began to lose their conviction, and slowed down the advance. But it was too late. No mercy would be shown to these foul infidel that dared to invade Hussariot land space. The infantry tried to retreat but were cut down, as the other bunkers opened up.

Along the line things werent going so well, and weight of numbers was beginning to tell. Although the millitary was now fully mobilized, the intelligence agnecies calculated that their soldiers alone would not be enough to counter the insurgeny. Thus, an international plea for help was released by the President.

"People of the world. Today, our brave, innocent land, was violently and unprokedly attacked. Our army, navy and air force are putting up a courageous effort, but the enemy cannot be held for long. Already, reports of atrocities have been handed to me in our border regions. Here me. We need aid. People of the world we beg you to save us in this most dreadful and needy hour.Do not let a land so rich in culture and economy be wiped out for such a pointless end. Help us, or our beloved motherland shall succumb."

It amuses me to have found this communique on my desk this morning. Why bother sending me a message about a foreign power attacking you, when you do not even specify the nature of the attack or whom it is that is attacking you!? Is it a collective of nations? Or perhaps a stronger power?

Either way, this pointless message has annoyed me, you have until tomorrow to tell me why I should aid you. If you do not provide a satisfactory reason, then I will have no other choice than to authorise a nuclear strike upon your nation.

High Imperator of Dimmimar

Forces have been identified as Tallhurnian. This is entirely unprovoked. We have no idea why we are being attacked. Granted, we have hada longstanding rivalry, but this was no cause for an outright millitary outlash. If no other countries will intervene, we will go down fighting, if you are to proud, to arrogant, to help a younger, less advanced state, then we condemn you.
Hussariot
23-08-2005, 19:22
We are not interested or bothered with threats of a nuclear strike, there is a much more serious threat at hand, and if you are no serious enough to help, to just sit by and watch a dignified nation succumb to a horrific fate, then we are not interested in you either.

We graciously accept your aid.

As regards jenrak,
We are left leaning, socialist.

OOC: One thing: I haven't seen any post by Tallhurn/Tallhurnia (nor have I found the nation in the database), so... is this attack at all legal?
Jenrak
23-08-2005, 20:39
We have not had many good relations with Left-Leaning socialists, given our views are so vastly different, as we are ineptly used to a heirarchal caste system, but perhaps this could be a change for us. Very well, we shall engage ourselves in this war, and hopefully that our aid may be useful to your endeavours. Our goal will be to defend against enemy assaulters ravaging your lands, so we shall send as such:

3,000 Canisters of Chemical Weaponry
2,550 Siren-Level Infantry
10 Artillery Flanks, 1 Artillery per flank
30 Lancer Troopers, complete with Surface-To-Air and Surface-To-Surface Rocket Launchers and Long Level Lancers

Expect your aid in a few days.

We have 4 transport aircraft loading at the moment. They will take off at first light (5:19GMT) and we have in-air refueling arranged. Flight time estimated at 18hrs. Thankyou most graciously. Airborne forces are under particular stress at the moment but we will try to arrange something.
******************Meanwhile on the Tapone Ridge*************
Lieutenant-Colonel Turnham addressed his men.
"Well this is it, in 7 mintes the enemy will be upon us. We are to defend this ridge and the pass below us. There will be no retreat. The enemy must be stopped." He spat into the dirt.
"1 and 2 battery, you will wait until the enemy are fully in the pass, then you will engage middle section. 3 Battery you will use your smaller mountian guns to block off the retreat route. Is this clear?"
"Yesir"
"Okay men, get those guns served."

7 Minutes later the enemy emerged into view.
"Sweet holy jesus." Murmurred Turnham.
There must of been at last a division of infantry, accompanied by a company of tanks. He waited, as the enemy grew complacent, and then.
"Fire!" He screamed.
A salvo of shells ripped out of the camouflaged positions tearinga torrent through the massed enemy ranks. Then the smaller guns erupted, firing from the back of the battery, aiming at the back of the enemy column.

Southern Hussariot Shore

Task Force 5 landed in Hussariot precisely when it was supposed to. In no time at all Demidian forces established a forward base and mobilized for a journey north to intercept the enemy forces. Lieutenenant Jim Watt was the attack commander assigned to this mission.

Aboard a Demidian Challenger II-D
"Jimmy?" Cracked a voice over the radio.
"I hear you" He replied.
"Hussy forces have met with rebel troops somewhere near Tapone Ridge, your orders are to move there and assist with the attack." Cracked the radio once more.
"Roger, Give me more details as you get them, Over and out."

*The enemy forces had suffered a beating, but still manged to regain order. Maneuving into cover on the far side of the pass, the tanks began to engage the guns, and a fierce artillery duel ensued.
"Holy goddamn it!" Cursed, Turham. He clicked on his R/T and called up the battery 2 commander.
"Sir?"
"Engage thos S.O.B tanks!" he clicked off the R/T
The guns reloaded but as they trained their sights on the new targets several were knocked out by H.E shells, finally, they had loaded and fired upon the enemy with blinding accuracy, striking the tank in the flanks, knocking serveal out, and starting fires around them. Utter chaos!

Aboard a Demidian Challenger II-D

"Lieutenant?" Cracked the radio worse than ever.
"Watt here." He calmly replied as he banged on the radio to try to 'fix' what was making it crack and groan.
"The Hussys are in a big ol' scrap about 8 miles north of your position" Stay on this heading" Bellowed the Commander's headset. Apparently his banging did the trick.
"Roger, I can hear them, rules of engagment?" He asked as a formality.
"Rules are Standard Demidian #6" Groaned the radio.
"Roger, Watt out."

PS: What is the composisiton of the enemy airforce?
Hussariot

Composition of enem air force un-known. Mainly primitive fighters though. No heavy bombers. As yet.

******
The mountain gun section, now after they had fully destroyed the back of the column, turned their attentions o the middle, but quickly became the target of accurate sniper and small arms fire. Within minutes only 9 out of the original 20 remained. Wisely they broke off contact and manhandled their guns into a more commanding position.

At the bottom of the pass, 2 Sections of Challenger II's, the remnants of B Squadron 13th/18Th Hussars were acting on orders to engage enemy forces mounting an attack on the ridge.
Their Commander, Lt. Bridge, ordered them to advance in open order. Quite taken aback by teh apocolyptic scenes before them, the only warning that they were being fired on was the tel tale shriek of incoming shells. Quickly he regained his composure, and issued the order to attack, which several tanks were already doing.

After enforced stop-over due to bad weather in the Southern Channel, I'm pleased to report that the medical aid had arrived in Hussariot. We are now in the process of setting up the 4 field hospitals and are already providing medivac facilities.

We hope hostilities will soon be over and that a peaceful end be found.

25-08-2005, 14:59
In response to a possible escalation of an essentially irrellevant conflict, the Blessed Chris intends to dispatch a naval taskforce to the waters of Hussariot to facilitate the isolation of the conflict. We, the centric council of the blessed Chris, see no reason compelling us to proffer aid to a nation in opposition to our political ideals, and would implore similarly right wing nations to further the strength of our pacification force to prevent international war. Any attempt to alter our intervene in our proposed course of action will rsult in a tactical nucleur strike upon the capital of Hussariot.

Yours sincerely
The Centric Council of the blessed Chris

The Tallhurnian Tank Commander sneered at the plumes of smoke bellowing from the ridge, less than 5 miles to the West. "Fools, think that the can outsmart me?" He told himself under his hot breath. It was he, after all who found the narrow path that enabled his tanks to circumvent the Hussariot barrage. He would circle the Ridge and obliterate the Hussy's from behind. "Brilliant" he whispered. At that moment, the tank to the right of his over was overcome by an explosion that blew the turret right off the tank, sending it flying, landing 40 ft away.

"Retur............" His order never came as his own tank was obliterated by the attack. The rest of the Tallhurnian force was swiftly taken out. The Demidian tanks then crept beside the ruined mounds of steel as theyre-traced the steps of the enemy. The attack on the Tallhurnian Army was imminent. Lt. Watt smiled as he chalked 2 more tallies on the interior tank wall.

Early reports from our field hospitals show low Hussariot cassualty figures at the moment on all fronts. If fact most arrivals seem to be from the invasion force - and a lot of those are just turning up at the field hospitas and asking for refuge and safe passage to a neutral third-pary state - many seem to be little more that boys with only basic training and few (if any) supplies.

It is good to note that civilian cassualties are almost non-existant at the moment as most front-line areas have been evacuated very quickly.

I think it is time to ask the question "why did they invade in the first place?" They are outnumbered, poorly trained and lack even basic equipment - it seem like they have just been sent to their death in a strange land.

Grand Master and First Lord of the Imperial Government.
