In Orbit Over Hallad
The Gold Star Fleet orbited Hallad in close formation. The thirteen ships of the Halladi second fleet survived the Battle of Hallad and were a testament of Halladi strength... even though the Workers Republic had lost. But, in the mind of Captain Mahir Rafi the war was not over. It was not close to over. The newly promoted officer had served as second-in-command of the James Newman and had been as dedicated to the Greater Good as the captain he served.

A transmission was sent out as they readied themselves for faster-than-light travel. It would be the second time they ever sued their FTL drives.

People of Hallad, comrades of the Red Navy and military, and the Solidarity Party.

My name is Mahir Rafi, captain in the Red Navy. I am a patriot, I fought hard. I am proud to be a Halladi, but this will not stand. I will not sit here and watch this nation give away all it believes in. I would have rather seen the anhilation of Hallad then the surrender to and collaboration with those Greater Prussian pigs! We're part of an Empire now. We are Imperialists now. We are capitalists, and we have betrayed the revolution.

Now, I am leaving. I will not live in a nation like this. Good bye. As of now, I and my crew, the crew of the Gold Star Fleet, renounce our citizenship in Hallad. I suggest any true Halladi to do the same.

Then they were gone.

The Red Hammer System

The Halladi fleet came out of FTL, on the outer rim of the Red Hammer system They waited for a moment, sure that other ships would follow. Several came, a handful of frigates and one Stovetop class carrier. They moved toward the interior of the system, hailing on New Haven frequencies.

Comrades of New Haven!

We are true Halladis, and have come here to seek refuge so that we may continue the war against the Prussians and Allanea. Please, grant us asylum.

In orbit over Hallad

Friends, citizens, comrades, Halladi!

Today, your nation has been betrayed. Thirteen ship captains, those whom you have thought to be good servicemen, faithful to their nation and it’s ideas of equality and social justice, have now fled Hallad. We have good cause to believe that they have allied themselves with a terrorist nation of some form. We don’t care, really. The Confederate Navy is big enough to deal with those pirates without assistance. The GPSN is big enough to destroy any planet that threatens the Empire. Yet another band of losers. Let them leave - but let them remember that the Greater Prussian Empire was the first to render Hallad any assistance once the war ended. If they take us on again and lose, we may not be as merciful.

We would note that the Greater Prussian Empire has not infringed upon Hallad’s right as a sovereign nation to establish it’s Socialist government. Further, and on a side note, Allanean Arms is opening two more factories in Hallad Earth, to build armoured personnel carriers for export. They will creater one hundred thousand workplaces for Halladi citizens.

May God Bless the Emperor

"I don't like it. I don't like it one bit." Said the infuriated Premier of Hallad.

News of the defects had been a hard hit to the government. It was a sign of weakness, they had built these ships with their own designs, and now their captains had taken them away from the government.

"None of us do, comrade." Replied Jabir Yusuf, Commissar of War. "We've lost thirteen ships, and over a thousand enlisted men and officers."

"Yes, I know!" Premier Muhammad said, clearly annoyed. "Can you please stop repeating it."

He let out a long sigh then looked at the Commissar of Diplomacy, Talal Ghazi.

"Comrade Ghazi, what do you suggest we do?"

Ghazi, an older man, took a moment to think. "We must stay with our current course. To do other is political suicide."

The discussion went on for the rest of the night, and then a decision was reached.

Government Responce to the Defection

Comrades of Hallad,

If these soldiers truely meant well, they would not be running from Hallad. They would be here, defending us from harm. We ask that you not give into the lies of these traitors.

Halladi Territory in Haven

Admiral Hind Johara had heard everything. Through the Halladi News Network she had listened to the Red Navy captains broadcast, the government responce, and the Greater Prussian responce. She thought it was disgusting - the fact that the Halladi government had agreed with the Prussians. Before this she had never really thought about it, that it was odd that the government joined those who sought to destroy them. Johara was the commander of the Halaldi Fleet in Haven, six Insurgent-class battlecruisers, six carriers, and numerous smaller ships. She discussed the matters with her captains, who were all in agreement. The crew would follow them too.

Comrades,

I am Amiral Hind Johara, comander of the Halladi wet navy in Haven. I am in agreement with my comrade captains - disgusted by our governments actions. And with that, we are leavnig. I and my captains, and their crew, renounce our citizenship to the Workers Republic of Hallad.

With that the ships pulled out of port, and headed south to the Island of Rose's outpost near South Hallad, the Greater Prussian territory.

Greater Prussian Stellar Navy Headquarters

Marechal Kowalski, the Halladi blue navy is defecting.

The Marechal shrugged. He dealt with the Halladi navy before, he would deal with it again. It did not matter the slightest bit if it escaped. I am not supposed to care, now am I?

And so, the Hellammer-6 300mm spinal autocannons in orbit remained silent, and the Halladi ships sailed onward - well, they were no longer Halladi ships. So, anyway, the pirate ships sailed on.

The GPSN, pending other orders from the Emperor, would not intervene.

"Hyperspace contacts, Halladi signatures. We're being hailed."

The System Commander looked over the message sent. "Signal Halladi vessels to approach Hades Station at this coordinants and dock when ready. We'll refuel them, resupply them and review their request for assylum."

Southern Haven Naval Taskforce

First had come news of the defection from the Halladi occupied-government by the thirteen Halladi spaceships, which had been met by cheers throughout the Republican Space Force, and soon the entire military. Finally, a blow had been dealt against the fascist Greater Prussian Empire which dared occupy a soverign Haven country.

Then had come the news of the defection of the small fleet of combat naval vessels from Southern Hallad. Though contact had been blocked by diplomatic fears for a while, direct intervention from the Grey House had decided upon action. Thus, as the small rag-tag group of defecting vessels sailed towards the TIOR outpost near Lewis Island, a detachment from the Southern Haven Taskforce had been detached and sent to aid and protect the fleeing vessels and ensure their safety.

The wind was whipping up into the beginings of a fierce storm as the taskforce, led by the Carrier Indefatigable, and joined by four Battleships and half-a-dozen smaller Praetor-Class Destroyers, ploughed through the darkening and increasingly erratic waters. The wing howled across the open decks of the vessels, and the waves crested their bows and bought down gallons of saltwater onto the decks with ease, crushing anything that had not been securely tied down, or that was not safely inside the decks of the vessels.

Inside the warm and slightly cosy bridge of the Destroyer Alberton its Captain, James Marchton, sipped at a boiling-hot cup of thick coffee and let the scalding hot liquid hit his stomach and warm him from the foul weather he had just come in from. He put the mug down reluctantly, not wanting to abandon its warmth, and walked over to the Virtual Combat Display. On the large computer-generated screen that lit one corner of the bridge, Marchton could see the other ships of the detachment; the small Destroyers at the front and flank of the detachment, and the Battleships deployed in a diamond formation around the precious Light Carrier.

There, at the forefront of the detachment, was the Alberton, plowing along through the waves, only a few nautcial miles from the last known position of the Free Halladi Vessels, this being what Republican Military Command was referring to them as. Marchton turned to the Communications Officer, and nodded. Now was the time to broadcast their message.

Attention Free Halladi Vessels. The Grand Republican Navy has noticed your brave decision to flee the oppresive occupied regime, and we have been detached to ensure your safety to the TIOR outpost. Please signal your actual positions and current course so we may match it.

Isla Qui Rosanica

Isla Qui Rosanica, my perverse attempt at Latin. Which is supposed to mean the Island of Rosians. It was the only Imperial-Rosian land in Haven. All it was supposed to do was analyze the region and whatnot. It was pretty isolationist, never bothered anyone really. Except for the immigrants, but that's another story. There was only one BattleFleet stationed, the 91st. Twenty five ships of Imperial Union power. Granted it wasn't much to the Imperial Union, but they always saw Haven as "not our problem". Of course they might have to get more involved now.

The command room. Imagine all the stereotypical war rooms you've seen in the movies, roll them into one, and add red. That's how it looked like. This is where operations involving the Isla was controlled. "Admiral." said a worker, because I don't know how to transition to the conversation.

Admiral Al ak Sheber, one of the few Muslims in the Imperial Union. For some reason this one was able to rise through the ranks of the United Imperial Armada, and before, the Rosian Navy. He was fifty one, rather old to be an Admiral of just a fleet. Then again, he was an Admiral so he couldn't complain. Much. He had that nice middle eastern complexion, and yet spoke English perfectly. Even with the nice English accent. Anywho, he answered the worker. "Yes." He stated.

"Err..." the worker hesitated. "Some Halladi ships want to enter, but they're not flying their colors."

Al ak Sheber raised his brow. "Hm... well. They are allies, we have no choice. Tell them they can come." Granted he was ignorant of the fact that this fleet was rogue, but hey, what can you do these days. Crazy Halladis!

About four hundred feet below the surface of the strait, just above the water's first thermal layer, the Privateer class attack submarine U-246 tailed the Free Halladi fleet. In the boat's sonar room, an unshaven sailor sipped his coffee as he rotated the sound head. Between 342 degrees and 026 degrees was an utter clusterfuck of large ships. Back and forth he swept the head, making a note on a pad of paper of what class of ships each sound he could make out was, where it was, and how many there were. Just from the noisy sounds of the props, the sonar officer could tell that they were all Halladi, that there were twelve large capital ships, some twenty odd surface escorts, and a huge group of subs. Maybe thirty or forty. Even more in number were the smallest craft, which had distinctive, high pitched screws. Oddly enough, none were attempting to be even the slightest bit quiet, and some of the crewmen he could hear sounded a bit drunk.

At about 304 degrees, he heard another group, though the sound was much fainter. These new ones seemed to be much further away than the mile his sub was trailing the Halladi fleet by.

Just to make sure nobody was where they shouldn't be, the sonar officer swept the head completely around a few times, checking to the aft for any contacts. Unlike more primitive subs that still used propellers, the Privateer class' all but silent electromagnetic hydrojets did not produce a sonar blind spot from 120 degrees to 240 degrees. As expected, nothing but a few humping whales and a crab-street brawl on the ocean floor caught his attention. As long as the sub and her crew stayed as silent as they were supposed to, the sonar operators on the Free Halladi ships would hear nothing but the same.

The Red Hammer System

The Gold Star Fleet flagship, the S50 Battleship Hero of the Republic, moved first. They were relieved that the New Havenites were allowing them to dock for refitting and refueling. Captain Rafi, after meeting with his comrades had decided to create several rules to prevent the rogue Halladis from causing trouble within themselves. This namely adressed stealing, which had been a concern because, like most other Halladis, the crewmen had taken their life savings out of the bank after the surrender.

South Haven

The "Free Halladi Fleet," unaware of the Privateer class submarine tailing them, continued their course. Admiral Johara authorised the transmission of their location and course to the Skinny vessels. The Halladi ships continued on their course to the Rosian outpost.

The Battleship began docking precedures. The crew had only done it twice before, but they had a good feel for the ship overall. Captain Rafi and his first Lieutenant, Abdul Latif, were joined by Lieutenant Rabah Tariq, the commander of the Red Space Marines on board, at the docking bay on the Hero of the Republic. Docking was finished, and the door opened.

New Erse, Hallad

Once again Premier Muhammad was meeting with the Commissar of War, Jabir Yusuf. The old war veteran was worried, his stern attitude toward these defectors was costing his party public opinion. The fact that war heros had left left a huge gap in the party and the public. And no one knew who would leave next - the Red Army? The Republican Guard? The Hawks? Of course, both the Premier and People's Commissar of War knew the Republican Guard would ever defect. But the Hawks... If the Air Force defected, it would mean a huge loss in Party support. Action had to be taken, naturally, and so a new order was put out. It would allow the defectors to return to Hallad, and be more involved in government, though the Premier doubted it would work. These men were hellbent on war.
