The Afrikaan Republican Guard Panzer Grenadier Division mounted up in the Type-108 IFVs that were simulating the Panzer.05's of Afrika in the laser simulater. As they started the engines they knew the 1337 tanks were just over the hill. This would be a challenge as their were only four hundred Afrikaan Panzer.05s versus the same number of M1A2 Abrams. The 'panzers' fired their 'rockets' over the hill in the approximate range of the enemy 'tanks'. The gunners loaded ATGMs into the auto-loader and then kinetic kill rounds. As they continued up the hill. They stopped near the top and waited for the sound of explosions to continue.

The 400 M1A2 Abrams were just getting ready to head over the hill where information had said the Republican Guard was located when all of the sudden they were getting rocketed. The Abrams quickly started moving towards the top of the hill to get away from the rockets already they were losing tanks which would put them at even more of a disadvantage against the Afrikan Panzers but this simulation had to be won for the honor of the 1337 3mpir3. as the Abrams headed up the hill they all launched a round of KE rounds and then loaded up the Heats for the close range combat.

The barrage of kinetic rounds smashed large holes in the front of many Panzers. Yet most were still quite operational as they were just demobilized, the engine block saved the tanks from complete destruction. At least 34 were demobilized and 6 destroyed. The Afrikaan counter barrage of ATGMs[tank fired missiles] went right up the hill as the 80 ton panzers crawled up the hill leaving the demobilized to be fire support. The Panzers were rather weak to CE rounds in the front, as they had little thermal and pressure protection. The Panzers let loose another rocket barrage as they drove forward, they were completely out of rockets now. The tank to tank battle was going to be ugly and brutish.

The rockets hit again and even though they were expected this time another 7 tanks went down and 15 were demobalized. These tanks were now just going to have to shell the hell out of the Panzers before they died. As the Afrikan Panzers headed up the hill the Abrams unleashed a round of Heat's and headed backwards down the hill guns still pointed at the Afrikan tanks they had to get our of range of the demobalized tanks to make it as even as possible but they had to make sure that the current tanks followed too so they were going to head out of range of both and hope they didn't lose to many tanks on the way down

The heats smashed and burned their way through layers of armour and smashed into the armoured engine compartment. Another 4 tanks were destroyed and 16 demobilized. The ramaing Panzers loosed a volley of rounds(KE). The demobilized tanks fired off round after round at the retreating tanks. The un hurt tanks started to top the hill. The tanks smashed into destroyed and demoblized tanks and keep driving as their engines moved them to the top of the hill. The Afrikaan tanks were nearing the 50% casualty mark, at 8.33% of forces as casulties. The Panzers ERA which wasn't represented in this simulation was losing them the battle. The Afrikaan Panzers began to fire 25MM co-ax rounds as they continued up the hill to distract and hopefully somehow hurt the enemy tanks.[No real chance =(]

The KE rounds hit the Abrams and took out another 15 tanks and demobalized 5 this was turning out to be a bad idea but it had seemed like the best idea at the time as apposed to just sitting there. Then the Abrams unleashed another round of Heat's on the following Panzers and continued the retreat at full throttle to get away from the demobalized tanks bombardment

The Afrikaan Panzers were nailed. Another 12 were destoryed and 3 demobilized.
The Afrikaans had lost 75 tanks by this time and the commanders were getting pissed off by the current loses. The tankers weren't performing very well, and the auto-loaders were jamming. Finally Group 5 leader got a plan. The plan was to send Group 4 and 5 over the hill and unload all their ATGMs against the the retreating Abrams. Then group 1,2 and 3 would go around the side and destroy as many as they could from the side. The remaing demobilized panzers would stay at their position to cut off any possible other moves, as they couldn't do much either way.
The Unit Leader approved the orders and radio-ed them in through the Afrikaan Military Network. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd groups moved around the sides of the hill at top speed. 1st and 2nd groups went on the east side, the 3rd group on the west hill. Then after they were nearly at their marked points[possibly in vision of the Abrams] the 4th and 5th units moved up the hill and let go a volley of ATGMs. The plan could win or loose the battle for the newest units into the Afrikaan Republican Guard.

The Abrams were hit by a smaller than usually volley of ATGMs this didn't do as much as they had expected only destroying 2 tanks and demobalizing 3. 5 tanks lost? This didn't seem right the Gunners looked around to see if they could find why and they quickly noticed that a large number of tanks were missing...they couldn't have been destroyed but where on earth had they gone?!?!
The Abrams unleashed rounds of mixed Heats and KE's at what they could see keeping a sharp eye out for the missing tanks

The Afrikaan 4th and 5th group were hit hard. Another 7 were killed, with no demobilizations this was a hard hit. The 4th and 5th let go another ATGM volley with a few mixed KE rounds. The amount of shells was miniscule, maybe 100, but 25MM AP rounds were flying every where to make it look like even more. The remaining other groups went around the sides. The Panzers turned their turrets and let loose a hail storm of 250 rounds from both sides. This seemed to be the way to go, the battle may be leaning towards the 1337s currently but this could change the battle in Afrika's favour. The Armour Competition was going strong.

the first round of expected ATGMs and some KE's wasn't too bad in fact it was looking good for the 1337 forces they only lost 3 tanks this time they were getting far enough away were it seemed like they might have to persue soon.
Then all of the sudden shells came from the right and left sides smashing hard into the tanks much weaker side armor they lost 46 but the tanks that were left aimed thier turrets at the very real and new threat and split into two groups and went for the tanks that were at the sides and started launching heats at both sides.

The Panzer Groups 1 and 2 were hit hard by the heats and took nearly 8 more hits. The Panzer Group 3 took another 10 hits. Totally 12 demobilizations and 6 killed. The Groups of 4 and 5 fired ATGMs. However such massive casualties were making a toll on the units. And the fire was less effective. The 1st and 2nd groups straightened out and fired KE rounds at the approaching Abrams as they crawled forward. The 3rd group crawled forward and let loose a volley of ATGMs aimed right at the turret of the approaching Abrams, the battle finally seemed to favour Afrika.

The Abrams did some damage but not enough things were looking grim with 17 more tanks down on the left and 14 down on the right and now things were looking bad because the ones down weren't all destroyed or even demobalized but their turrets were blown out so they might as well be dead.
The tanks left were getting desperate and now wondering why on earth the 1337 3mpir3 HADN'T worked on nuclear tanks rounds! The time had passed for that but the day when it came shouldn't be long in the coming after this. So they took the Heats and loaded them up and fired rounds as they went towards the tanks and decided that while they were at it they might as well start using the .50 cal mounted machine guns just to try to do something to sway the battle back in their favor.

The Panzers took a deadly hit the heats scored good against the slightly damaged tanks. The Afrikaans lost 14 tanks and another 16 were demobilized. This was pushing Afrikaan forces to the edge. The unit leader ordered all units to fire their remaining ATGMs. However some did not have ATGMS and were ordered to fire KE rounds again. The Panzers had been moving forward, making aiming difficult. However the 4th and 5th group on the hill had dead on shots frmo not moving and were aiming at the sides of the tanks moving towards to flanking Panzers. All units let loose their volley right into the mass of the Abrams. Hoping to finally end this fight.

The Abrams took a huge hit this time from the two fronts and the sides from the hill with 24 destroyed and 8 demobalized. Things were deffinately not looking good, but going with the never say never attitude of the 1337 3mpir3 they continued the battle.
All of the fully functional tanks shot Heats at the Panzers to the sides and the 8 non destroyed demobalized tanks shot KE's at the Panzers on the hill hoping to be a small destraction.

The 4th and 5th groups on the hill took a rather hard hit. They lost 3, and 2 more demobilized. The 1st and 2nd took a few hits. And lost 2, and another 6 were demoblizied. And finally the 3rd group took a light hit. They lost 2 tanks and 2 more demobilized. This raised this volleys casualties to 17 tanks. The commanders tank in the 3rd group was demobilized. Also his radio was out, but all group commanders issued the orders to fire as many rounds of KE as they could and try to win this battle as soon as possible. All groups, which had the sides in combat. Every last capable Panzer fired. Many group leaders ordered all tanks to try to fire more than once. They needed to prove superiority.

That had ended the simulation the Abrams were just to out of date to deal with the superior tanks of AfrikaZkorps they lost the last 21 tanks that they needed to lose 50% of the what they started with. They just couldn't handle the three fronts and headed back to the HQ to return the "tanks" and prepare for the future war games.

[OOC: My division has 1000 more men[not all deployed] than you, and it isn't full strength. Also the distance is nearly three miles, meaning mortars are possible but unlikely to hit.]
The mortar shells fell slightly short of their mark. The Republican Guard were hardened veterans of many conflicts and very rigiourus training programsso it had a very small effect either way. The Unit Leader issued a general advance order for Groups 1 and 2 to be followed by the 3rd Group at a distance of half a mile. The mortars would fire a smoke screen in the direction of the advance. As they and the units moved forward. The Reserve Group 4, which was more than half strength moved to the east side to cover a route for the snipers which followed behind. All in all the movement was a general advancement. The Panzer Grenadiers were well trained in combined arms, blitzkreig like operations, but with no heavy support how would they perform?

24-08-2005, 15:57
as the snipers at base watched through scopes for the first sign of men to approach the sound of their mortars firing what seemed to be actual aimed shots at the now approaching opposing forces so they decided to move up to the trenches and start the kills sooner than anticipated and then when it was just about to get rough they would head back to base, always watching for enemy snipers. With little cover (the map showed non so...) the snipers would have to hide within the ranks or use some similar tactic and so they would have to shoot down others to get them but the snipers were not about to lose in a sniping contest.
