The Central Government of Popeleoma Del Signe announced today that the unused Hospital complex on Saro Island would be converted for use as an International Relief Hospital. For years, Saro island has been abandoned and the absense of Hospitals in small towns was growing larger and larger. Saro Island is located about 5 miles north west of the Rickenbacker International Airport and transportation to the island is capable by Hydrofoil, Ambulance or Airlift. The inital purpose of the hospital was to have a centralized hospital unit for the country. But since then, smaller hospital units have been created thus not requiring such an endevour. However as the smaller hospitals were being built, the complex was already nearing completion. Spokesman for the Hospital, Robert F. Dopyera, stated as follows on Sunday night's conference in Troyes:
"Since the newly finished hospital complex serves no function for the Country, I reccoment the use of the Hospital as an International Relief Station. In the event of an emergency such as a natural disaster or manmade disaster, this hospital would bring in and help those marred by misfortune."
The politiburo released details about the new hospital and certain guidelines to which it would pertain to.
1. This hospital is for the use of the people. Soldiers or Combatants will not be allowed if injured in any sort of political dispute. Patients admitted will also include, those about to give birth, children, burn victims and the elderly. The Hospital is not there to give plastic surgery or enable people to relax in the spas.
2. The Hospital covers nearly 21 million square feet and will have 4000 wards. Located on the northwest part of the island is a Shriners hospital and Government offices to handle paperwork. There are several health spas for recouperation of victims. The hospital is run by a staff of 100,000 nurses 4,000 doctors and 2000 physicians.
3. In the event of any major accident such as a Hurricane, typhoon, tsunami, earthquake, volcanic eruption, nuclear meltdown, Popeleoma Government Airways will fly all victims, free of charge, to Rickenbacker Intl. Airport. From there, they will either be airlifted or brought to the complex by sea.
4. Of the 4000 wards available, 1000 are up for sale for exclusive use by any country interested. Each ward costs roughly 100,000,000 USD and each country can buy 2 maximum. Whichever wards are not purchased by August 26th, will be converted to common use.
Since the Hospital recieves enough funding to operate, We hope that several foundations would be so as willing to donate money each year for new equipment and maitnance. Donators will have their name embedded into the donations wall for all to see.
