Darvainian arms race

Darvainia
22-08-2005, 22:22
The nation of Darvainia's military and defense spending is at an all-time high, some say they are preparing for a war, but the government denies such notions.
"Somehow our military budged reached almost 45% percent of the whole naitonal budget," said General Whitemuenster, commanding general of Darvainia's military. "So I'm using the money. It's more to defend ourselves from foreign invaders than to actually attack anyone, but since I have the budget I've been given the responsibility of building Darvainia's navy, airforce, and army, so I'm doing all I can."

So far Darvainia's military consists of the following weapons and armors, along with Darvainian standard armor and upgrades that are made within the country, but here are the imports:
Air force
20 F-42 'Raven'
50 F-76 Liberator Advanced Air Superiority
Total airforce personnel:1,000 basemen, maintennance workers, etc, and 140 pilots, and twenty officers.
50 standard transport/cargo jetplanes

Army:
50 T43 MBT Main Battle Tanks
5000 ar-20 assault rifles
2000 DAC-91A1 Submachine Guns
300 SS-109 Modular Pistols (for covert operations, internal government security personel, and nation's police force)
1,000 SC-2000K Modular Assault Rifles
2,000 Vr-92s
20 warmaster Cargo Trucks
15 Darvainian supply convys
15 Darvainia armored Darvainian supply trucks
15,000 Darvainian assault rifles(20 mm calibre, semi-automatic or regular mode, 30 rounds per magazine)
5,000 Darvainian machines guns (100 rounds a minute, fully automatic, 30 mm calibre)
10,000 Darvainian grenades, and 1,000 cruise missiles.
total personnel: 50,100 soldiers, all fully armed, 10,000 basemen, maintennance personnel, and 100 highly trained and educated officers.
Navy
2 Homeland-Class Battleships
2 Indomitable-class Aircraft Carriers
10 South Sea-class Frigates
10 Bravo-Class AS Destroyers
5 Tango-class Attack Submarines
The general has also said that he is not only willing, but eager to invite nations, corporations, and other people all over the world to sell weapons and other defense equipment to Darvainia.
12 academy class patrol boats
2,000 sailors, 3,000 other personnel including officers.

Intelligence and internal security department:
200 security personnel, 10 assasins, 90 undisclosed agents, 300 other personnel
"Well we have standard battlearmor for the boys, and a few minor upgrades to the weapons and vehicles, but we need more weapons, and other equipment. Unfortunately we simply don't have the technology, raw materials, or facilities to make our own, as we are a new and developing nations." he said today. "Though we do have some resources, and are working on a possible nuclear warhead, but we have to check the U.N resolutions to see if they allow that...anyways if anyone is willing to do business with us, including building bases, providing equipment, maybe even some training, contact me or the Chief Representative, Wolfstein Beber. We are asking for the international community to help make us a viable nation, with a viable military. Thank you all for your help."

In other news...is eating gophers bad for you teeth...?

Cobra Global corp. responds to this call immediately. We've drawn up a contract where if you will pay us $1,000,000,000 tokens (we can exchange your currency for our own) we will send engineers, scientists, and construction crews to build your various airforce, army, and naval bases. In additions we will fortify them, and as an added bonus for two years we will handle all recruitment operations within your country. Unfortunately we cannot offer training or weapons, as we have not developed much militarily yet...

Raptior-class Flight I SSD (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/Truitt/Raptior-classSSDmod.jpg)
This is the pride of the Osean Navy. The Raptior-class, named after the city in Romania and the great monster in Dracula, the Raptior lives up to its name. The Raptior is the most silent submarine yet to be conceved and includes air-defence systems for when being surfaced and two ship-to-ship guns that were designned with ship boarding became an enemy tatic. The Raptior is all of what Truitt stands for in silence and stealth in a military, for this fish can never be detected unless you order it to surface and shoot off fireworks.

IGNORE these units, they are not possible and will not be accepted by Kjata Major do to the fact they are impossible to purchase for said price. We advise that all nations also IGNORE this purchase, on grounds of sheer wankery.

I also wish to know who you aquired them from, and for how much, as 60 billion is a little sum. A single Nimitz-class CVN costs well over 3 billion, and you have three, nine billion off. The Tanks themselves would fully disprove this entire purchase.

The planes, and supply trucks also. They are insufficent, but I took one look at the subs and knew it didn't add up. The cost should have been somewhere between 100-120 billion for it. This does not means the research and crew costs and maintainces on the vehicles. To use the carriers you need abotu 5000 people. Which is a little more then you can handle. Carriers need to be protected. Though you rarely hear of it, the carriers travel in groups to protect their soft sides from hostile subs and attacks from above by ships and planes.

Supply wise you'll need about 1 truck for 4 tanks I'd say. This does not count fuel, water, and ammo. Just one for fuel. Another truck for water wil service over 20-40 vehicles, and there troops. Ammo is another problem, I'd say 1/20 ratio or so unless you love to fire. My Kjatan forces are on a 1/5 ratio for that.

Being able to supply your army is the biggest problem of a conflict, though few nations RP supply lines it is the key to winning. If your enemy has weak supply lines you can starve their forces of valued items like fuel, ammo and water. This happened to the German tanks in WWII. They couldn't get the fuel they needed and were unable to be used properly. American forces were heavily supplied and mass produced, and though far weaker they were superior cause they could use them properly.

Another tip, nothing is ever in perfect condition. Have troops, planes and ships, even tanks with problems that makes an RP more real. Nothing is ever 100% ready to go.

Your navy should not consist of 2 capital ships and 2 escort carriers. You need subs destroyers and frigates to take a bullet for these ships and perform tasks that you don't necessarily send a battleship to do. I suggest you try my storefront, my surplus ships are cheap and effective.

No prob, just remember to be close to your military stats. I have alot of mine drawn up and hidden from a few enemies of mine, but for the most part, an invasion is not a good idea for my shoot-happy units, because of supplies. That means a good defense can beat a superior military even! :)

Do a little cost checking on items yourself usually. Check prices and learn about the forces you have. You do know you can build your own weapons to. ^-^

Darvainian is no longer buying navy equipment, unless they are minor things, we are also cutting spending in airforce and army, but are still looking to buy tanks or other mechanized/motorized units. For any nations who have any we are looking for supply vehicles, and/or air/sea ships, so if you have any of these they will be most appreciated.

Bonstock has always been considered a reputable arms dealer as far as I know. Is that not the case? Granted some of his package deals are very good deals - but all arms dealers here seem to take a lose on some pack deals.
Kjata Major
23-08-2005, 18:10
The 'package' was complete wankery. You couldn't afford to produce those tanks and naval ships. Even SUBMARINES. His deal was not even possible by a long shot. It was like saying you could buy a Nimitz Carrier for under a billion.

I've seen people attempt to sell F/A-22's as low as $20 million or so. The price is over 5x that. Does that mean its a legal unit? Hell no! Why should we pay the real price like so many others for someone to do a 5/1 cost deal?

Of all the storefronts the successful ones are detailed and realistic prices. Even the custom units are usually 20-30% more expensive then they should be for balance issues. If everyone had the prices so low even a 5 mil nation could afford things way beyond a real nation could.

Besides it would turn into shit. I launch 10,000,000,000 F/A-22's at you! I launch 982,292,399,239 n00ks. RPs would turn to crap faster then you can say 'Shit!'

"We don't need nukes," said general Whitemuenster. "The parliament finally agreed on that, but they couldn't argue that we didn't need to defend against them. So we designed and built two satellites that can actually detect nuclear bombs coming near the borders of Darvainia and disable them by signal from space, it isn't perfected but we are also working on a lazorbeam that won't only disable nukes, but also render them completely useless, but that is still in the works...until then we also have satellites in space for reconaisance purposes. For the most part they see everything that goes on inside of Darvainia, but if we redirect them they can help at least a little bit with other nations as well, we have three of these. These satellites and more have been purchased with funds from the space program (sponsored by Dragonrealestate, The Uranium Mining association, and Cheese Drinks Enterprise), as well as with funds from the defense budget. The government agreed that funds could be used from both and either because this was a space project, but also for the purpose of defense. The total price came to 5.5 billion tokens.

Recognizing the private sector can often do things more efficiently than the public, Darvainia has announced that in addition to the small force already built, over $150 billion will be invested in militia either privately organized, or built by corporation. Including Spiked Fists Mercenary company (providing over 50,000 infantry men armed with grenades, mortars, assault rifles and machine guns) "Billy's Militia Men"(providing five hundred guerilla fighters armed with standard shot-guns and homemade explosives and household chemical weapons) and Bad@$$ Mechanized Warrior Militia Inc. Consisting of 200 HB89XZ-Tanks (thick titanium armor, rides over almost any terrain, and armed with machine gun turrets and some explosive weapons) and 20 assault helicopter (each having a crew of 5 men, 2 pilots, 1 maintennanceman, and two gunner one armed with a machine gun, another with a standard grenade launcher.)
We have also spoken to Cobra Global about the possibilities of providing a maintennance crews, logistics teams, and perhaps even ground operations personnel and soldiers, if they can gather the resources, we look forward to hearing from them and anyone else willing to give the Darvainian military, or the private militias support in building up and keeping their base.

To: His Excellency, Chief Representative Wolfstein Beber
From: Scott Barton, Procurement Agent, Wellington International Defense Solutions
Subject: re: National armament program

Representative Beber,

Wellington International Defense Solutions, Juumanistra's premier exporter of myriad military goods and services, has heard that your state is looking to acquire new weapons systems and augment your good state's existing stockpiles. WINDS is interested in furnishing the Darvinian military with the best equipment money can buy and, in our hopes of doing this, we have compiled a list of several key areas in which we feel that your state lacks adequate capacity to sustain itself on the modern battlefield. In addition, we have supplied bids to furnish your nation with the goods and services identified below.

-Infantry Arms

Provision of standardized small arms and munitions is absolutely vital to building a contemporary fighting force. The Darvinian Army, however, appears to be largely armed with a mish-mash of indiginous arms designs and half-a-dozen import designs of various types as far as infantry-issue rifles and submachine guns. To rectify this, WINDS would like to propose the standardization of the Darvinian Army rifles along a single caliber, either the 6.8x47mm Juumanistran or 5.56x45mm NATO and proceed to consolidate all infantry-issue rifles into a single design using either the former or the latter. WINDS favors the former and, to that end, our bid is tailored around the the MA/MM FR.5 assault rifle and its carbine cousin, the T3R.24J68.

Cost: $790 per unit

At 50,100 FR.5s for each infantryman, 17,000 T3R.24J68s for logistics personnel and other services, and an additional 25,000 FR.5s and 8,000 T3R.24J68s for growth capacity comes to $137,310,000. We are, in addition, capable of furnishing Darvinia with production rights to all key mechanisms to the FR.5 and T3R.24J68 and 6.8x47mm Juumanistran caseless ammunition, as well as requisite cleaning materials, manuals on operations, and instructors to help train your forces. Pricing in the production rights and services, as well as the advantages of bulk ordering, WINDS is capable of providing for all of the Darvinian Army's standard-issue rifle needs at a price of $1,200,000,000.

Alternately, we are capable of furnishing you with any off-the-shelf 5.56x45mm or 7.62x51mm NATO rifle(i.e. M16, SA80/85, FN FAL, IMI Galil) in the amounts previously specified along with the previously enumerated services for a flat fee of $90,000,000.

-Strike Aircraft

Whilst Darvinia's air superiority capabilities are adequate, it lacks any kind of serious ground attack or bombing capabilities. Furthermore, whilst its F-42s and F-76s are formitable, their small number makes them vulnerable to battlefield losses and decreased efficacy should even a single plane be downed due to mechanical problems. To this end, WINDS suggests the consideration of the Juumanistan Ni-31 Snakehead and No-34 Asgard as possible additions to the Darvinian Air Force's stockpiles in the hopes of both broadening the number of aircraft that can be brought to bear and, simultaneously, adding to the capabilities of the Air Force.

The addition of the Ni-31 provides the Darvinian Air Force with a light, nimble, and relatively cheap platform that can be used for both air defense(with it mounting air-to-air missiles on each of its mixed-weapons hardpoints) or ground attack. The No-34 provides you with a serious strike aircraft, as well as a massive missile boat, as each of its bomb bays can hold upwards to fifteen anti-air missiles. With regards to numbers, WINDS would recommend the commission of at least ten squadrons of Ni-31s(120 aircraft) and at least four No-34 squadrons(48 aircraft). WINDS can deliver the aforementioned 168 aircraft for a price of $8,000,000,000 including requisite simulators, manuals, and personnel to assist in the training of new Darvinian pilots and maintenance crews. If more units are required, pricing can be negotiated at that time.

Should Darvinia be interested in off-the-shelf systems, such as the F-16, MiG-23, or F-111, WINDS is also capable of providing them, though an estimate of the price per unit or per pacakage cannot be assessed at the moment.

-Logistics Aircraft

In addition to lacking strike aircraft, Darvinia is also bereft of support aircraft of the type that are absolutely vital to maintaining aerial operations. It is in the opinion of WINDS that priority should be put on acquiring an airborne radar system and a tanker system in order to facilitate long-term aerial operations and ensure maximum efficiency and efficacy from aerial forces. WINDS also has access to the Juumanistran military's primary AWACS and tanker aircraft, detailed below.

In order to meet the needs of your current air force, we would recommend the procurement of seven Ku-47s and three Fu-47s, which can be delivered with the same package of simulators and personnel as the strike fighter offer for a total of $2,000,000,000; in the event that you decide to take our strike fighter offer, we recommend upping the number of Ku-47s to 23 and Fu-47s to 8, which can be furnished at a cost of $6,000,000,000. Should more be desired, or a number that is in-line with our quoted number, feel free to ask for an estimate and we shall be happy to provide it.

Those are the three areas we feel can most help Darvinia at this moment. Should there be more that Darvinia is looking for, or more of what we listed above that we assist in the provision of, kindly let us know and we shall do all we can. We hope to hear from you soon with regards to the bids we've submitted on the goods described in this message.

We will take 15,000 FR.5 rifles, and 20 No-34 Asgard fighter/bombers for now...

If you have any we are also looking for transports to carry supplies and soldiers...air, land, sea, it doesn't matter but transport vehicles would be most appreciated.
