· Shark Attacks - Several shark attacks off the western island coasts has prompted the imperial government to close all beaches, pending an official investigation into any further possible shark attacks. Foreign environmental groups claim that over-fishing of the outlying ocean is forcing the predators to swim further inland in search of prey.

· Southern Itinerate Tree Dweller Demands Semi-Autonomy - Riots broke out in several outlying colonies as the imperial government tightened control of the regions through an increased military presence. The Imperial Senate refused any notion of allowing regions any autonomy in addition to what is already allowed by law.

· Gas Prices Down, Again! - And our last story covers what is already news to most commuting members of the public. Gasoline prices are staggeringly low for this time of year, a full twenty credit-cents less than normal. Experts cite the increased use of replenishable sources of energy and the use of thermal depolymerization to produce oil from biomass and trash. The current price of gas is holding steady at USD 1.10 per gallon or DC 1.65 per gallon.

· Open Trade In Farktopia - Through the effort of several nations in the region of Farktopia, the free exchange of goods and services will now be possible through a general free trade agreement. The trade agreement promises to benefit the economies of all nations involved.

· Farktopia to Go Nuclear? - Through an agreement with an anonymous nation, the region of Farktopia will now possess a large nuclear weapon stockpile. The anonymous nation, which is selling the weapons to the region, is rumored to reside within the region, but there is no word on which specific nation it is.

· Did Anyone Notice? - It seems a void in the space time continuum opened up over the region of Farktopia, swallowing the nations of Trollhammeren, Frixtopia and Coolaronia, whole. The void quickly disappeared, but has been spotted over several other regions across the world, sucking up other nations. Be on the lookout for this dangerous force, it is known to strike nations when they have been inactive for a period of time.

· Be Aware! - Citizens are advised to be aware that the legendary Lord Dreadfire of Automagfreek is on the warpath, though his target is currently unknown. Unconfirmed reports have him spotted sailing into the wide sea on his personal warship. Ships are advised that if they see any AMF ship approach, let them pass without incident.

· Farktopia/Farkistan/Fark - The proposal put forth by the government of Itinerate Tree Dweller to combine the regions of Farktopia, Farkistan and Fark into one large region has failed. All three regions refused the offer of federation, mostly due to dormant anger between the regions stemming from the very origin of the regions.

· Animals Liberate Front Strikes! - The increasingly militant Animal Liberation Front struck again last night, freeing dozens of chickens bound for delicious snack packs. The Imperial government has publically declared the ALF a terrorist organization and has revoked the citizenship of all members of the organization.

· Senate Approves Budget - The Imperial Senate approved a massive increase in defense spending that would allow the ITDGF to purchase "advanced weaponry for the 21st century."

· Venom Corporation Sees Record Profits - The profit margin for the VC was incredibly large this fiscal period, mostly due to an increase in the popular food brands being offerd. Most popular were the "Chunky Monkey Soup" "Wally Whale's Drinkables" "Kitty Cats & Bottled Rats" "Puppy Meat Pies" and the most popular "Goldfish, Bluefish, Big fish, Fish Mix" snack food lines.

· Terrapolis Joins United Nations - Despite a stern warning from the Imperial Senate on their poor judgement in considering joining the United Nations, the semi-independent state of Terrapolis decided to join the political organization. "The liberal agenda of the U.N. will only extend to Terrapolis, and will not affect the remaining sections of the Hadethan empire." said Emperor Erik Kersk.

· Hogsweat Nuked!!!!! - The nation of Hogsweat was destroyed when nuclear explosions ravaged the socialist nation. Details are sketchy, but no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The nuclear weapons are thought to have originated in Hogsweatian territory.

· Minimum Wage Increase - The Imperial Senate voted today to increase the national standard living wage to Cr7.75 an hour, and provided benefits to companies choosing to provide their employees with this wage. Companies aren't necessarily required to provide this amount per hour, but they are strongly too encouraged.

· Western Hataria Sold! - The Imperial government sold the region known as Western Hataria for an untold sum, which is estimated to be in the trillions. The few sketchy details available insist that the Hadethan Empire still has limited authority in the region, but not official definition of this "control" has been released.

Prince Loki To Leave Jerusalem - Prince Loki today announced his transfer to the commonwealth territory of the Kingdom of Greater Rome. Prince Loki had been stationed in Jerusalem to oversee regional affairs. At a press conference he described his new station. "My work in this place is finished, I will be leaving the territory in the capable hands of my good friend Colonel James Riker, who has retired from active military duty and will now server as Governor General of Jerusalem. I will, at the request of my father, winter in Hades with my family and then take over as my fathers representative in Rome. Thank you, good day."

Genetically modified food approved by government. - Venom Corporation strains of genetically modified corn, wheat and rice have been approved for human consumption within the bounds of the empire. A recent ruling by a joint Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science, Industry & Technology committee gave the Venom Corporation and it's subordinate company World Inc. a green light in mass commercial farming of the genetically modified plants. This ruling has attracted criticism as a recent independent study found that the plant strains caused kidney and liver toxicity as well as breathing problems in test mice.

· Vice Tax - After days of intense debate on the imperial senate floor, the imperial government has approved measures that effectively legalize various "vices" including illicit drugs, all forms of alcohol, most forms of pornography and other various vices. In addition to legalizing these "goods and services" the senate has approved a new government department which is charged with the regulation and taxation of these various vices. "This new law is not a free ticket to commit wanton immoral acts. This law is designed to safely administer these various goods and services to the public. Of course, working outside the framework instituted by this law will be considered a crime against the state and will be prosecuted." said temporary Vice Chairman Richard Samson.

· Fuel Efficiency - Following overwhelming approval by the imperial senate and the throne, the fuel efficiency rating for vehicles manufactured within the bounds of imperial territories has been officially set at 15 kilometers per liter, a compatible rating with other international standards. All vehicles that do not currently meet these standards will not be penalized; all automobile manufacturers are required to meet these standards by August of this year or they will not be permitted to sell products not meeting the standard. Tax incentives are planned to encourage citizens to purchase vehicles that meet these standards.
