The Empire of Invanz is declaring war on the Armed Republic of Armless Snake People. Anyone who wishes to join the war just declare war on them and telegram me.

what is the purpose of this war....what did he do?

Mondoth wishes to know the reason war has been declared before we take any action in this conflict.

The purpose of this war is because the snake people lied and betrayed me.

OOC: Uh, Invanz, remember when I told you it would be a good idea to bide your time, increase your defense budget, and build up your military? This is a good example of why you should do that. He's got 40 million people. You have 8 million. Neither one of you have large militaries, but he'd still own you in a conventional war. Wait until you're larger, then you can start picking fights.

Also, you're declaring war for an OOC reason. Never, never, NEVER declare war for OOC reasons.

OOC: Give him a break, TLA, he's got potential. He just needs a little assistance, which is what I'm trying to provide him. Don't crush him just because he made a mistake; he's still learning.

No I'm declaring war on him because (Since OOC doesn't count) he is declaring war for no reason. Its not right to attack people for no reason. Unless a newbie nation has a just cause for declaring war then we will take measures against them. Doesn't always mean we'll fight them.

...but doesn't every war have a reason, ICly? One nation's leader must realize that. Thus, sufficiently, it is logical to conclude that you /are/ going to declare war on him/her for OOC reasons, based on the fact that he/she apparantly doesn't have a solid IC reason OOCly to declare war.

Actually, he would be declaring war on a nation starting a ICly reasonless war. Which would make sense since most modern nations oppose overly agressive nations that attack their neighbors with any valid reason.

...if he doesn't have a reason ICly to declare war, why would he declare war at all ICly? You don't do something if you don't have a reason to do it, correct?

However, my point is that leave these new guys alone - let them adapt to the ways of NS without interference. I knew how newbies think, and I got nuked the first few days I went into a war more than two years ago - not a pleasant thought at that time. Cease and desist.

Ivaniz, I advise you stop this foolish and reasonless war, withdraw your statements, and take some advice from Halberdgardia and other experinced players. As I have agreed to help you OOC-ly, I can do the same thing here; just back off from the whole war thing and take some time to learn.

OOC: Do you mean things like changing your defense budget? You can't, at least not directly. However, how you answer your nation's issues can affect your nation's economy in general, or specific parts of your budget. For example, if you get an issue regarding military spending, and you choose to increase it, your citizens' average income tax rate will go up, but so will your defense spending.

Invanz, If you want help on NS I'd be happy to offer you what ever assistance you need.

I agree wholeheartedly that Invanz has, shall we say, acted inappropriately in declaring war for a reason that is admittedly completely baseless. However, instead of acting in a manner befitting a nation of your size and stature you completely avoided diplomacy even though other great nations were in the process of trying to difuse the situation peacefully.

(OCC And you should be helping someone who clearly wants to enrich the game by learning - and that is good for all of us.)

While I agree with your assessment of Invanz's behavior - your own behavior seems to me overly reckless - war, as you seem to know, is nothing to be entered into lightly. Diplomacy should have been utilized - the world depends on leaders of your stature being able to weild the pen long before they rattle the sabre. I join you in asking Invanz to rethink his rash actions.

However, I ask you to rethink your ultimatum. Invanz is a small nation, and the world stage is not an easy one for a new and growing nation to master. Let the young learn before you decide rashly to kill them off.

I am bound by a treaty to aid the nation of Invanz as it grows and learns to play its role on the world stage. Follow your own advice and look at the economic realitys. My nation has no desire to call your nation anything other than a friend, but we will not stand by as you instruct the young with the business end of a bayonet. We stand prepared to bring our forces (funded with 4 times the money your forced feed off of) to the defense of Invanz. Let it go, and let his nation grow.

OOC: Buying military equipment can be done at various military "storefront" threads. A good example would be the Leafanistani Integrated Storefront (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=433522). He's got all sorts of fine military equipment in his storefront, and reasonable prices. He also sells various infrastructure elements, like military bases, airports, even entire towns, if you need those.
