With little more than a quiet ceremony after many long days and nights of behind-the-scenes negotiations, president Travers signed treaties today with the region of Lazarus and surrounding neighbors securing trade rights and economic and political cooperation. Tilsitsin is a country of nearly 3 billion citizens, and the country is just now emerging from a period of dormant isolationism. It is widely speculated that Tilsitsin will seek to find a region to solidify economic, political and military cooperation with, as the arrangements made with Lazarus are seen as a temporary measure while the Tilsitsinian economy readjusts to interaction in the global market. Although no nations or regions have as of yet pledged support, the president is optimistic that offers of cooperation will arrive in short order from other world leaders.

We would also like to announce that in addition to finding suitable nation-allies and a more appropriate home region, our armed forces are preparing an unprecidented military refit program. Approximately $2.3 trillion (US) will be earmarked over the next 4 years that will help appriopriate new arms, vehicles, ships and aircraft. Tilsitsinian industry is expected to pick up the slack after 5-7 years, but in the meantime extreme measures will be taken to ensure a state of the art and highly capable armed forces for Tilsitsin.
