A letter appeared in the mail one day from an unknown place. This message was sent to the leaders of Greater Mactopia. It was a personal way to send messages that has been nearly forgotten in the world.
The paper was lined with several painted leaves, like vines around the edges and the top of the paper. This was real paint, not a produced piece of paper.
The appearance of the letter had a sealed rubber stamp of the Kjatan Seal, a emblem of flames wrapped around a woman's figure with two swords raised in an 'X' Across her body.
-----------
To: Greater Mactopia
From: General Minerva
"I wish to offer a General's Challenge to you Greater Mactopia. A one on one battle against Generals. Such combat has typical rule, but will give us both experience.
Come to my base, out on Shikoku. I shall await for your General and your army. Entering the perimeter of 50 miles by any weapon, plane, vehicle or part of your forces be your annoucement of your arrival.
A beach as been provided as staging ground if you make it to land. I await your reply."
----------
Inside the letter was a single Cherry Blossom petal. A soft perfume could be detected on the paper along with the emblem of the General. Crossed tank cannons with a saluting soldier with, "In Kjata's Name, Ye Not Guilty"
----------
OOC: The Kjatan General has just challenged a one one General match giving a place for such a battle. On Kjatan soil to. This location was of the General's home and was the place designated for battles.

A couple of days later, a letter arrived addressed to General Minerva.
---------------
To: General Minerva
From: General George S. Patton
The Nation of Greater Mactopia accepts the challenge of General Minerva, but on one condition, if my men are beaten too badly, I will accept defeat and will ask to retreat. If possible please notify me and your forces (force size) so that we may equally fight. I also request that I be allowed a medical ship to tend to my wounded men. Also, will this be open fighting, or will there be cover and will we be allowed to build trenches and stuff?
We await your response.
Sincerely,
General George S. Patton
Commanding General of Greater Mactopia's Armed Forces
----
Inside the Envelope was 1 bullet casing from General Patton's revolvers. On the outside of the Envelope, the emblem of General Patton, 2 Colt Peacemakers crossed in front of the flag of Greater Mactopia.
OOC: You may laugh at me for choosing Patton as my general, but I respect himand his tactics. This is why I chose him. Is this PMT or FT? And will you be using your uber 1 Million Ton Ship?

OOC: Technology up to 2020 ok? Considering that is the end of the MT and right along the PMT. It will give you an advantage with more weapons systems.
You have to do a landing before you can really strike the main island, unless you plan ballistic strikes from the sea.
My ship weighs 18.4 million tons. Its encased in solid composite armor, with the flight deck with four feet THICK of pure armor. The sides are incased in a still nearly unstoppable two feet of composite armor.

Assembled from Pykrete blocks the ship is lighter then water! It has cooling compartments that frozen Pykrete is cooled by a massive cooling system. Pykrete does not transfer heat well and will stay constantly cool with little power. Reinforced with layers of armor and piping the Pykrete stays at a constant -20 degree F. Insulators protect heat transfer and reduce stress on cooling.
On the outside of the ship is lightly covered in a radar asborbing layer and is painted grey to blend in to the horizon and lower visual sighting slightly. Then a layer of reinforced steel before the armor.
The ship is comprised of 2 feet of thick Chobham armour, that is used as tank armor. This gives the ship an actual defensive shell that is stronger and thicker then even the mighty Yamato's. The deck holds 4 feet of thick Chobham armor in plates. If damaged the plates can be removed and replaced as needed.
Nuclear Reactors of the ship: They are pressurised water reactors driving eight turbines of 780,000 hp. This provides power for 80 propellers, each functioning at 78,000 hp.
The tower of the ship stands 250 feet tall including the radar dish at the top. The control tower is only 1000 feet long and is still heavily armored with reinforced steel and tungsten, The control tower is completely devoid of Pykrete. The systems are classified, but the ones released were:

Of course, you may bring your ships. I trust your intelligence scans have already revealed my forces. Satellites do ruin surprises. Well...just ones on the surface at least.
I trust it will be your first time encountering a Chinese Type 98 Tank? Or the mighty Technical trucks? How about the 'Doom Buggy' cars? Oops, it slipped. Tee hee.
Well in any case, defeat my forces and I'll surrender to you. Just don't destroy my house on the hill and that hospital ship won't disappear or will your retreating ships.

A cute picture of the young General was in the letter with a cherry blossom again. At least Patton would know what he was up against.

OOC: Hmm...wow that's the enough to cover two Naval fleets and then some.
Aircraft carriers are gonna die with that set-up, could you give some stats or real-world thing to check those by, I like knowing what I am going up against. Mine mostly comes from FAS, which is why the ships are Russian, and the tanks Chinese, with two Japanese Yamato-class ships. Yes, I was a total softee and went for the classic battleship.
Second thing, no way in hell can you fit a B-2 on any carrier. Not gonna happen. I can't even do it on mine. Airplanes are also in gross disproportion for even Nimitz-class carriers which hold 85 fighters.
Remember my ship dwarfs everything in your entire fleet. It weighes more then your entire ship base combined. Easily. Your ships cannot even see what's on deck from their view.

IC:General Minerva smiled and looked at the radar screen. A large 3-d display clearly showed the forces in the area. The whole command center was massive complex built underground. It was heavily armored and could withstand even a direct nuclear attack. General Minerva smiled and looked at the screen and pointed to three targets.
"GMSS Glory, GMSS Domination, GMSS Rose. My my. You are beautiful ships, but the face of war isn't kind!" she smirked and pulled her sword out from her sheath. "They have arrived. Let's give them a welcome! Bring the Cruise Missile Systems online!"
Across the coastline and the target beaches, Ying Ji-802 missile truck became active. It was already targeting the distant ships with a range of 120 km. A 185 kg high explosive war-head and a estimated hit probablity of around 98%. Though it would merely cause chaos on the decks of the ships. Though the GMSS Domination was labelled for destruction it seemed.
Each system was a collection of three missile trucks, ready for launching. They were hiding along the coastline, ready to kill. Equipped with missiles that traveled at Mach .9 they would be hard to jam or shoot down.
The General smirked and swung her sword, "Systems A and B, attack Glory! Systems C full attack Rose. D-E-F-G-H-J sink the Domination!"
Six anti-ship cruise missiles to the Glory!
Three anti-ship cruise missiles to the Rose!
Eighteen anti-ship cruise missiles to the Domination!
As the missiles were launched a video link was connected to Patton, the General was in her uniformed and was smirking.
"Ah, General Patton. I see you have arrived as planned. Your heavy battleships are an eye-sore. Let's get them out of the way, okay? Good! I can tell you are a man who doesn't need any heavy battleships, its just an over compensation for a small ego. Unless you ARE overcompensating, then its your lost, egos don't matter on the battlefield my dear General."
The link was cut-off, though the question remained of how the General tapped into his video-link is odd, what did she mean by them being an eye-sore?
----------
Assembled in a V formation 10 F/A-22 Raptors flew overhead of the Habbakuk. The ship was launching planes like crazy. The amount of catapults made for fast launching. These aircraft were armed with anti-ship Feilong-7 in addition to anti-air missiles. The FL-7 was a supersonic missile of Mach 1.4, 365 kg time-delayed semi-armour-piercing high-explosive! The Habbakuk was hiding on the farside of the island, it's slow speed would make it impossible to run away if it got attacked.
"Blue Dragon to Base. Blue Dragon to Base. First wave ready, can we light them up?"
"Roger that Blue Dragon. Light them up. Target those Frigates, take them out of the picture!"
"Frigates going down. Roger that. Blue Dragon over and out"
The F/A-22 Raptors were going to speed around and get within 32 km of the Frigates and launch. It was risky, but hopefully with the Heavy Battleships damaged and the attack still being a surprise, a quick strike will send the light Frigates to the bottom.

Onboard the 3 heavy battleships:
General Patton was amussed by the Message and yet still inquisitive about how she tapped into his communitaions. Admiral Willoughby, onboard the GMSS Domination, recieved the first strikes, he quickly grabbed the radio, yelling into the phone to General Patton that they were taking fire and for him to order some evasive actions. Patton racked his mind on what to do. He then ordered all hid ships to open fire on the beachheads. He then ordered that the planes be sent up to provide and anti aircraft fire if necessary. Patton checked hi radar, but no ships were insight. He grabbed the binoculars, looking at the beachead, He said "Ahhhh, A genius that woman is, launching missles from behind the cover of dunes..., to bad, my fleet will just have to counter that with our new 25" guns". Then the order came "OPEN FIRE ON THE SAND DUNES!" And with that booms could he heard all over. Then the sahking started. General Minerva could even feel the impact under ground. Patton the ordered that his missles be launched at the dunes as well. This battle was sure to go on for awhile...
A Few minutes later...
"This is the GMSS Domination sending out an SOS to nearby ships, we have been hit badly with the cruise missles". "ABANDON SHIP, ABANDON SHIP!" With that, sailors could be seen jumping off the sides of the Domination. Patton knew right then that he was facing a ruthless enemy and that his troops would have to fight to the last man. Sailors from the Domination were sent to the hospital ships for treatment. As the Glory and Rose passed the Domination, the only part still above the water was the Greater Mactopian flag. All of the men saluted and a lone trumpet could be heard playing the Greater Mactopian National Anthem.

The ground shook and the General did a status check:
"What the hell is he trying to hit! How can those guns fire accurately from 120 km away!? Grrr! he HIT one of my trucks!"
Minerva screamed in rage. Her ingenius attack setup had been fallen by pure luck. Knowing that Patton's ships must have fired at a 45 degree angle and prayed for a hit, they got one. System C.
"Call all trucks back, we can't reload in time." Minerva issued the command, grabbing her sword and slamming it through the hologram of the now sinking GMSS Domination.
---
"Blue Dragon, change targets! Rose and Glory survived. Repeat Rose and Glory survived."
"The is Blue Dragon to base, we are within range. Fox 1, launch. Fox 2 launch. Fox 3, launch. Fox 4, launch." said the leader, having entered the 32 km range for the Rose.
Five of the F/A 22's attacked the Rose and five to the Glory, already lightly damaged from the anti-ship missiles.
The planes quickly deployed their shots, 4 each. For a 20 of super-sonic missiles on each of the ships. Targetting the center of the ships, hoping to crack them in two.
----------
General Minvera growled and looked around the base. She needed to plan for their arrival. The plan she had now was to use air strikes and sink as many of the ships before they got close to the shoreline and saw the ships waiting for them. The next question is where would the paratroopers land. The protected east? The base's north end? The unprotected west? Or the beach on the south?
--------
On the aircraft carrier, more F/A-22's had been launching continueously. Over two hundred were now in the air. They were given attack commands and sent out to sink the rest of the fleet. Each with four anti-ship missiles and squads of five. It made for 40 attack groups. The highly accurate missiles were closer-range, but capable of doing massive damage.
--------
The original F/A-22's attack runs appeared successful, but they were still within missile range. They flew over the fleet. After the missiles had launched. To not only check the damage, but by the General's orders. Due to the close timing of the attacks, this will trick Patton into thinking that it was the F/A-22's that had did it. Now they were going to return to base, giving a false sense of security.
The real force was silently coming. The stealth would not be enough to hide them from the most careful and alert radar watchmen. Though the massive group would appear as a glitch. Nothing could be over 3000 feet long and fly at 1000 miles towards the fleet? Right?
--------
The missile trucks packed up and sped away slowly. The crew had been killed in the truck that was hit. Though it wasn't in vain. Together they had destroyed an entire ship. The missile truck costs were a mere $200,000 to the possible billions spent on the ship they had just sunk.
The burnt remains of the truck stayed behind. Along with a Kjatan flag. The successful launch and attack worked. Though the ships were now coming in faster. The 'other' missile systems would be ready to deal with them. Long-range missile trucks: Mission complete.
Trucks were hiding all along the coastline under brush. Though the question remains why hasn't General Patton issued air recon and defenses? This would prevent more attacks and force dogfights with the F/A-22's

Onboard the GMSS Glory
General Patton ordered all his fighters to scramble and prepare for Dogfights. The SAMs and Anti-Aircraft Munition were being armed, soldiers grabbed their rifles, hiding in the corridors waiting to fill the skies with bullets, rockets and flak. As Patton ahd known, General Minerva ordered all her fighters to the "Main" Attack force, yet there was a secret force sailing from the west to reinforce the Main force.
OOC: As you can see, you only picked up 3 out of my 5 heavy battleships.
IC: By now the Secondary Force had sailed within 20KM of Kjata Major's shores. The landing craft were launched and 10,000 of the 15,000 marines were now onland with tanks and munitions. Then, the Battleships and aircraft opened fire on the convoy of trucks. Many of the fighters peeled off to go defend the Severley outnumbered Air Forces of General Patton in the Main fleet. While General Minerva's air forces were distracted with the planes, the Airborne forces took off landing just infront of the Marines who were still securing the Beachhead. The Airborne forces ran back to the beach killing off the few defense forces there. The Invasion had begun...

OOC: The missile trucks had left, I posted this earlier. They aren't their to attack, but the bunkers are! Ok....I'm going to tell you this because I know you have the technology. Actually in recon UAV's or scouts or something, cause I didn't and look what is going to happen to my forces!
IC:
General Minerva smiled and watched the ships deploy troops.
"Riki! Activate pod defensive network. Rate 10, Angle 10, Duration 9k."
Above the coast their came and earth shaking sound, it was as if a thousand guns had gone off. Then it came into view. A wall of high powered grenades and heavy anti-tank shells. It was raining grenades from above on the landing forces!
"Claus! Activate secondary barrage, pods 1-20 and 36. Rate Max, Total fire: 7k"
"Yes, General Minerva."
Then another barrage came from behind that. This was a hail of anti-tank fire, and more grenades. The barrages were devasting, they were a network of two 50 set pods. Each one loaded with full Metal Storm weapons.
---------
General Minerva smiled and turned to watch the planes, and immediately a frown was clearly seen. On the screen it showed the planes entering range. Then firing at the remaining heavy battleships and the 10 Frigates the 5 Missile Frigates. Over for 8000 total missiles being fired at Mach 1.4 in close range. This was hell for not only the ships, but the planes attacking.
--------
"Blue Dragon to base! I'm hit! AHHHH! ffsttttt" came over the radio of the squad leader.
"General Minerva, good bye. I'm unable to pulll up....Riker out..." came another transmission.
-----------
F/A-22's pulled up high in the skies and with their stealth were able to avoid many of the missiles that had been fired, but now they had guns and other aircraft to worry about.
The pilots skirted away, leaving thirty of the F/A 22's behind who were hit in the intense hail of gunfire. There pilots attempted to drive the planes into the hearts of the enemy ships as a final action to use their large fuel tanks to cause a large explosion and hopefully disable them.
The 170 that remained, switched to Air-to-air combat systems and began to target the F-18's and F-35's enemy. These aircraft were easier to lock onto then the speedy and stealthy F/A-22s. The stealth on the F/A-22's almost made them immune to enemy missiles at this situation because of the close range which would be insufficent for the F/A-22 missiles to lock on a stealth aircraft, but the other planes were able to be targeted because of their less complex systems and inability to deny the pilots the lock on.
-----------
The YF-23 planes were taking off on a long journey, they were to circle around behind the enemy fleet by the coast and bomb them with anti-ship missiles and then procede to strike the aircraft carriers.
"Fuu here. Approaching targets in approx. 2 minutes, stand by for status report on the survival of enemy forces after Metal Storm strike, if no forces are left alive we will procede to the carriers. This will doom the enemies F/A-22s and secure our air power.
-----------
The Kjatan Naval forces still have yet to be detected by radar. They must be hiding along the islands coast. Though a small detected object has been seen off and on the radar screens of some of the ships. A very small, very fast ship. It was watching them?
---------
The troops holding the Metal Storm defense grid ran upto it and undid the pods and hurried to exchange the pods with new ammo. General Minerva's command had used all of the ammo in the grenades and heavy shells. During this time the Metal Storm defense grid will be down for approx 5 minutes for reloading on the top of the beaches. The bunkers are still out of range to target the men who had landed and remain silent.
---------
Total dead: 30 pilots
Damages: $357,600,000
Missiles used to attack ships that worked 7980.

Captain Hegan of the Air Force had regrouped with the besieged Navy Pilots after chasing off some attacking FA-22's. They returned attacking the Rest of the attacking Kjatan Fighters. They had lost about 75 FA-22s in the attack, a staggering loss.
As for the Airborne Troops...
Lt. Franson moved in with the Delta company to disable the Pods firing on the ships. They moved in just as the Kjatan troops were reloading the pods. The Airborne Troops opened fire as the Demo teams moved into place to blow up the pods. There was a fierce firefight, but the demo worked and blew up most of the pods. The Lightly Armed Airborned troops marched in on the pods and secured the rest as the Kjatan Troops fled to regroup. By this time Marines were climbing the rock walls of the Kjatan Shores. They had guesstimated that they had lost arounf 737 Marines, 75 Nava Pilots, about 1,265 Sailors and 3 Ships, though 6 more were damaged.
Onboard the Remaining Aircraft Carriers, the F-35'S were armed with A-A and A-G missles and bomb, ready for anything. The F-18's were armed with A-A Missles, given the job of aiding the FA-22's as they attacked the Kjatan ones. The Air Battle was already Underway with G.M. Air Wing in the air consisting of around 165 FA-22's, 150 F-18s, and 100 F-35's. The Battle was far underway.

OOC: Oh my god....I can't allow this to go by.
1. I didn't attack your F/A-22's they are too stealthed for this combat range. I took your lesser ones instead, so I could get 3-4x the kill ratio without the loss of missiles and dodges by the hard to lock on F/A-22. Please fix that.
2. About the earlier post, Flak cannons are worthless on things going 1500 mph over your head, you'd fire and destroy your own aircraft that are higher up because mine are really low flying.
3. Paratroops? When did you RP the planes? How did they get behind the beaches and how could you have done this without a scout? They are all camoflaged and since they are low to the ground, radar won't pick them up easily cause of the formation of the island! You need fly overs, or UAV's to see them really. Please fix the Paratroopers and destroying my units you can't see.
4. The pods are using Metal Storm technology, the whole point is, you can't escape it. It is meant to crush everything in its way. I suggest you check a few of the videos out. http://www.metalstorm.com/04_videos/large_video_advice.html Area Denial is the one that is most relative to the conditions on this battlefield.
5. I launched 16,000 grenades and heavy rounds ON your landing ships by an array of two defensive systems. How can you climb up when the firing rate on these are over 1,000,000 rounds per minute? It's not D-day.
6. Ok you launched planes as mine came into the area. Given the time of 6 planes and given one per minute per carrier that means you launched over four hundred planes from six carriers in the time span of five minutes? Also the targeting measures listed on your planes is wrong, if I target the non-F/A-22 ones that will cripple your overall numbers, though the F/A-22 is powerful in long range combat, close range is not its best. I am locking on and firing at easier targets, you are trying to lock on all very stealthed planes that look exactly like yours and are circling and crossing over your fleet at top speeds.
7. You still firing your anti-air? You can't do that unless you want to rip your own airforce to shreds along with mine. I already lost thirty from your ships and from immediately firing missiles and pulling up to engage the others. Visual and heat locking weapons will be of more use then anti-air missiles and flak due to the speed and proxmity of the planes.
8. PLEASE FIX YOUR POST!

OOC: Alrighty, The Paratroops were dropped in before you used the Metal Gear Technology cannons. The Marines on the Beaches hid against the wall. The Ships took casualties and exactly where did they come from. I expect some God Moding going on. And those guns were firing on ym, ships, not behind them selves. The planes were launched a a steady pace. Not all at once God. Yet, my plane numbers are intact. The Flak Guns are aimed at your planes wince they are flying low. Yes they can be hit with flak. Flak is exploding metal shards. Your plane would surely take some kind of damage. And my forces had already landed before you pulled out you Uber super cannons. There were no lesser ones, there were just FA-22's. Why would I need a scout? I agree that I didnt have the right transport Aircraft, yet, theoretically, I would ahve a map of your island... So it is justified, except for the proper para troop transports...

You don't give ship losses or anything. Just crew damages. You use all these planes and then the next post claim they don't exist. I targeted them before you even said they were the air, because I knew they were coming! Read my post then read your post.
Paratroopers don't just appear, you need planes from somewhere, and I don't see how my forces were 'distracted'. My carrier has 1600 planes and the fortress of the sea.
General Minerva held back her forces because you said you would be using paratroopers. I didn't forget that. Please use a post to have the planes, types and where they came from (unless you can hold massive planes on tiny aircraft carriers) then give me a chance to react properly instead of having them 'coming' and then arrive and destroy all the defensive guns before I can react. Its called Godmodding.
1. I targeted your ships, no ship losses were posted. I fired 8000 missiles at specific targets, ones that weren't even named to and you guessimate losses....that's not how to RP. X_X
2. You don't take the main course of action in shooting down the missiles, you attack the planes. With FLAK, flak doesn't do any good at low altitudes, it will rain on you if you have it explode 100-300 feet above the ship. It's for higher altitude planes. Flak also is horrible when planes are going over mach 2. The sonic booms alone should be driving your crew members mad so they cannot hear and give orders easily. It's just not practical, your equipment isn't suitable for low-altitude strikes. My weak-point, UAV drones. My base has little anti-air defenses. A UAV could spot everything before being destroyed. I have no UAV or scouts, you have an advantage, use yours to the fullest possible.
3. Planes again...I targetted planes to engage, yet you post losses of the ones I didn't target and give no reason. My forces are greatly out numbered by yours. They HAVE to take out the weaker ones and get out fast, they cannot dog fight in midair over your fleet. It is suicide.
Edit: 4. Metal Storm godmod? If you check the link I gave you the Introduction video goes over about what it is. The second one shows how a grid can be made. From this grid small boxes can be lined up with electronic sensors and detect the range and create a 'DENIED' area. Please check the video and you will see. BTW it takes 10 mins to reload to full. This means after wards you can take over the area by wearing them down.
(Please repost from this)
Captain Hegan of the Air Force had regrouped with the besieged Navy Pilots after chasing off some attacking FA-22's.

Look I agree with you about the Paratroops. They are in teh Air, they dont know the exact losses, neither do the Marines or paratroops. That just generalizeses it. I know I lost a lot of ships. But, I just didnt feel like typing out the names of all the lost ships.

OOC: OK, I'll let you think about it for awhile (I targeted many non-named ships to), just remember what I targeted.
IC:
Inside General Minerva's base, chaos had errupted, the surprise attack had gone unnoticed until it was too late to really strike.
"General Minerva we have planes incoming at Sectors 4-5." called an officer.
"Sectors 4-5! That's two minutes from the technical base! We can't let them take that our ground operations are doomed!"
"General Minerva we have a report that Sector 4-5 Anti-Air sites are down. They are malfunctioning!"
"General Minerva, reporting coming in say we have lost another 40 F/A-22s."
"The Yamata, our Yamato-class battleship is in danger. It's main gun is not operational. It will take three hours to fix the problem."
"YF-23's reporting in, engine trouble in #56, thrust is not sufficent for a strike run."
"We are still trying to get a report from the ships. No data has been recieved yet. A break in the communications lines?"
"General Minerva, our bombers are ready. Give the go ahead, and we'll flatten the area with MOAB bombs and Daisy Cutters."
"You can't be serious, Juhn! Bomb OURSELVES? General Minerva take the Metal Storm pods and drop the rounds on them from above!"
"What!? GENERAL MINERVA! The Sea Sparrow has been hit by a rogue missile by Patton's fleet! It's damaged and can be spotted! Our targeting is unable to match up! We can't send another strike force for ten minutes."
The chatter and calls from the officers and troops were getting on her nerves, then she exploded in rage.
"EVERYONE! SHUT UP! Metal Storm pods reload. 20 YF-23 scope beach area. 79 open with guns and ground to air strikes and kill the paratroopers. I don't care, impale them as you fly through! Show them this is MY island. #56 return to base, your plan needs repairs." she yelled. An instant later she slammed her fist into the desk and it contorted and broke under her powerful blow.
"Now! Yamata is out of the battle! Give the orders to send the rest of the fleet to the injured Patton forces. Launch 40 F/A-22 with napalm rounds, we'll give them hell to land into! Bunker crews prepare to fire at any incoming forces, use 50 mm machine gun. Avoid the Gatling gun, you'll use too much ammo."
She watched the F/A-22 planes fighting back and then decided to recall the forces, "F/A-22's return to base. Reload and prepare for new orders. We've crippled them. Send our 'Ace' in, he'll take care of the F/A-22's."
----------------
General Minerva gave her orders then relaxed, the heated battle was plagued with malfunctions on her ships and planes. The lack of communication and malfunction of the anti-air forces would allow a large number of Marines to land. The YF-23's had a little over a minute to reach the landing point. The F/A-22's had 12 minutes to launch and attack. F/A-22's from the Naval forces, sped away at top speed back to the carrier. The time was 3:49 now.

OOC: Ya. I am stuck still by launching time, otherwise your troops are toast!
