As All Things, This Too Must End [Open FT Intro RP]

Kaymiril
17-08-2005, 00:27
The sun rose over the Yth'varol mountains with the riot of color unique to them.

Queen Kaymiril VII was already up and out...she had been for a while now.

Today was a day that would be marked in history. Kaymiril would be sending their own craft into space for the first time in history. Before, the only ships that had gone to and from Kaymiril from distant planets had been members of the International Trade Hub...and before that, their closest friend and ally, the Snake Eaters, with the occasional Warhaven or Balroggan ship dropping by.

But now...Kaymiril was starting to venture out on its own. Never before had something so grand been attempted...and indeed, this project had only started within the past three years, as she had started coming into power.

Now, six months after her coronation, Queen Kaymiril VII, Annastrianna d' Maril, stood, looking at the ship before its historic launch.

The Maelthra (http://photobucket.com/albums/b56/Kaymiril/?action=view&current=MaelthraClass.jpg) stood on the launch pad, proud, if smaller than most other spacefaring nations' ships. It was a mere 200 meters long, with a cargo capacity of only a few thousand tons. This was to be a tradeship...Kaymiril's first. It would never come out of space, until, of course, it was too old to any longer be of use. There were already smaller ships...shuttles (http://photobucket.com/albums/b56/Kaymiril/?action=view&current=TradeShip.jpg), designed with the help of the Snake Eaters engineers, that were already waiting to launch. These would transport crew, supplies, and goods to the Maelthra.

Foreign ambassadors had been invited and welcomed into the nation for the event...and launch was only a mere dozen hours away.

OOC:
Okay, this is my FT intro...I'm starting off small, and don't really have a space navy yet, so I'd appreciate not being bombed.

If you want to send ambassadors or what not, feel free, but please be advised that the rules of diplomacy do apply, and trouble makers are liable to find themselves in very deep trouble, especially if on Kaymirilian soil. If in space...then...well, I'm lucky I have FT allies.
Snake Eaters

Prior to dawn, Colonel James Cougar had risen in his home among the Drow. As Snake Eaters' offical ambassador, he was representing his country at this historic event. He had taken his military dress uniform out of the wardrobe, and was finishing getting dressed by the time his wife woke up. She smiled at him,"Uncomfortable?"

C -- "Very. I hate this thing"

Rn -- "I know you do. But, it is a historic event... I cannot go though"

C -- "Shame... I'd have someone to talk to besides ambassadors... diplomacy*shudders*"

Rn -- "*Laughs*It was never your style, was it?"

C -- "I'll see you later*kisses her*

Rn -- "Have fun*kisses him back*"

He shook his head as he placed the peaked cap on his head, the cap badge of the Colonial Marines glistening silver on the black material...

**************************************************************

The Colonel marched smartly up to the Queen, stamping in with all the precision of the Snake Eater Army. His right hand came up in a sharp, crisp salute,"Colonel Cougar, Black Angels Company, Colonial Marines, representing The Shadowy State of Snake Eaters"

The Queen inclined her head to the Colonel.

"Dos ph' al'doer uchado, Colonel Cougar."

She guestures out toward the ship.

"This is small, no doubts, by your standards...yet most people that will be gathering today will have never seen anything so big."
Snake Eaters
17-08-2005, 00:48
He relaxed a touch,"It's not that small. Normal military ships in Snake Eater's are an average length of 700 metres... this is substantial for a first ship. In any case, Lord Barbarossa asks me to convey his regret at not being here in person, and also to inform you that, in the unlikely event anything untoward happens, three Snake Eater ships are in system, ready to render aid at a moments notice"

A smile touches the Queen's mouth. It was partially relief. If anything happened...there was no way one ship and a couple of shuttles were ever going to be able to fend off an attack.

"Lord Barbarossa's thoughtfulness and generosity are appreciated. It is a shame he cannot be here...but there are other matters to which a leader must often attend."

The Galactic Inferno No Endorse responded to the call for ambassadors from Kaymiril. The birth of a new space power was something of great importance to the Galactic Inferno. They didn't remember their beginning as an intergalactic nation, it had faded into the realm of the forgotten, thanks to great wars, tragedies, and the weight of time.

There were only two ships ready for such a mission, the fleet carrier Quantum Storm and the Strike class cruiser Harmony. Dispatched from the ancient slips at Haven, they powered to one of the system's hyperzones and longjumped to Kaymiril.

Emerging outside the primary Kaymiril star system, both craft proceeded to power down all offensive weaponry and raise low level shields.

A tightband transmission from the Harmony lanced out across the system.

This is Nikola Perez, Captain of the NES Harmony, requesting permission to enter the system. Our cargo is one representative from the Galactic Inferno to observe the launching of your newest space craft. Our escourt also has a representative. We would also like to discuss possible diplomatic relations and expanded trade between our nations.

The signal was received and relayed. The Queen looked down from the ship and the Kaymirilian citizens gathering to the message-stone in her hand.

The representatives of No endorse are welcome here, and I will be glad to discuss further diplomatic relations and expanded trade after the launch. We will be expecting you.

~ Valsharess Kaymiril VII

She then relayed her response to the intermediary station, which relayed it back to the No endorse ships.

"Often, that is the case. I have direct communication with the captain's of the vessels' concerned"
She turns back to Cougar and nods. "As effective and efficient as we have come to expect from the Snake Eaters."
Kazecistan
17-08-2005, 01:38
This wasn't a usual first contact mission. Kazecistan had learned, 'through the grape vine' as it were, of a nation who was still limited in space travel. They wished to greet them and establish relations before a sticky encounter in open space occurred. Because this nation already had allies, large ones, a smaller ship than usual was sent. A Kazeci Torpedo Ship, not much more than a large frigate, soon appeared in the home system of this new people. This is the KNS SharNavar, of the Republic. We request relations with your peoples. May we enter orbit?

"Captain Perez! Incoming signal!" yelled a young man hunched down over the communications suite.

"Throw it over the main audio," he responded thoughtfully, looking around at the bridge crew. They were all turned towards him, curious. "I'd like you all to hear this," he explained, "we're looking at history here."

"It's plaintext," called the communications officer, "I'll send a copy to your station and get the computer to read it out."

"Excellent."

Nikola Perez decided there was no time like the present.
"Okay. Helm, bring us into a high parking orbit over Kaymiril, somewhere over their equator. Communications, tell the Quantum Storm what just transpired. Sandy will follow us in."

Suddenly, Nikola felt a familiar presence in his mind.

Sandy Farsee: Hey Niki. These guys got an orbital dock or something?

Nikola Perez: Heh, no San, looks like we get to ride one of those infernal shuttles through an atmosphere. Remember last time?

S: The Phantoms... those things still haunt me. Oh well, at least this'll be an easy diplomatic mission. That one was suicide.

N: Remember, be good down there. We don't need to get arrested like with that last diplomatic mission.

S: I gotcha Niki. Oh darn, that messed up panel is on the fritz again. If you'll excuse me.

N: Heh, I won't bug you. I've got to be captain here. Wonder how those silly terrans can't figure out we're not one of them?

And with that, the two starship captains returned their thoughts to their ships, slowly powering into a parking orbit.

The Snake Eater Navy had provided three ships to cover the launch, in the remote possibility that someone chose this day to launch an attack. The ship was defenceless, and these ships had enough firepower to level a medium city.

First up, leading the three ships, was the Galaxy-class S.E.N Hydra. Onboard was Lieutenant Haldros, the only Drow crewman onboard. He'd put in the request... he wanted to see his people, his nation, move into space. Over the past six months, he'd grown to love the freedom of space as opposed to flying in the Kaymirilian Airforce. He watched from the tactical position behind his captain, monitoring the flow of traffic in and out of the system.

Alongside the Hydra was the Akira-class S.E.N Tomcat, a ship designed to fight, and nothing else. It was designed to be the primary muscle, just in case. Better to be safe than sorry... this launch had been three years in the making. Accelerated vastly by the advent of Snake technology, along with the aid of Balroggan scientists, the Queendom of Kaymiril was achieving space flight much earlier than should have been possible.

Finally, the S.E.N Hornet, a Soverign-class vessel, almost four times as long as the ship being launched today, patrolled the far side of the planet. Together, these three ships watched all those who came in, communicating with Colonel Cougar on the ground, making sure that this launch went smoothly. Inside the Hornet, two flight's of Cobra fighters made ready to launch, to provide an honour guard for the Maelthra. In the lead plane, Blaze sat ready, Swordsmen on his right wing, Edge on his left. Together, they were three of the best pilots in the 2nd Fleet... they would lead the formation.

OOC: Basically, muck around and endanger Kaymiril, and these guys will get you... if the mages don't first

The Kazeci ship did as it was told, entering geosynchronous orbit moments after receiving approval. A small craft exited the lower bay and headed for the planet.
"Oh, it's going to be a long day." Kathleen groaned to herself while rubbing the back of her neck. She despised putting on her happy face and sucking up to these authority figures that she barely knew, but it was her job and she was good at it. So here she was, on a Bullet transport headed to the surface of yet another planet to make yet another people like her. She was about to pick up a book and read when she felt the craft slow in preparation for landing.

As the door opened, a well-dressed businesswoman stepped out saying, "Hello, my name is Kathleen and I'm here to represent both Kazecistan and the Republic." as if she lived for relations with these people and no other. There wasn't a trace of distaste in her face, though deep down she was simmering already.

There was a native there, a Drow man on what would resemble (or possibly be?) a flying carpet.

"Gre'as'anto lu' verve dro, Kathleen d' Kazecistan*. We welcome you. If you will step on, I will take you to the Queen. Would you like something to drink?"

-snip-

As the two shuttles landed, the No endorse representatives were given a similar greeting, however, there was only one carpet for the both of them.

The offer of drinks was extended to them, as well.

The drink was handed to her, and the chauffeur looked at her, grinning somewhat.

"Not something you see every day, elsewhere, is it? The carpet, I mean."

It started to rise and move, hovering over everything as it made its way toward the platform where the highest of Kaymirilian nobility and foreign representatives were.

"We've used this as a mode of transportation for hundreds of years now...they are elegant, and comfortable."

He set down on the edge of the platform, letting the Kazecistan representative off.

"Thanks." she said quickly over her shoulder, if only because it was programmed into her. Seeing the royal figure before her, she was filled with dislike. 'This stuck up snob cannot be trusted.' she thought to herself. Remembering her objectives, however, not a trace of it was allowed to show as she knelt, bowing her head. Once again, she introduced herself. "Your Majesty, my name is Kathleen and I'm here to represent both Kazecistan and the Republic."

"Gre'as'anto lu' verve dro. It is an honor to us that your government would send someone to us this day."

The Drow woman had a warm smile and a friendly voice, but above all that, her sea-blue eyes sparkled with life and openness...sharp intelligence...but openness.

Nikola Perez and Sandy Farsee stepped down from their shuttle and approached the carpet. Nikola figured out the purpose of it first. "So I assume that we just step on and we ride on this? Ingenious..." The chaffeur only nodded at this inquiry. Both of them politely refused drinks, having drunk a pint each on the shuttle in case of long outdoor ceremonies, and stepped onboard the carpet. Both of them took positions near the rear, the better to observe happenings.

Sandy Farsee looked out to the side of the carpet, gazing at the people all around them. As she gazed off into the distance, Nikola could not help but notice how pretty she was in this light. Turning towards him, Sandy winked and smiled.

S: I felt that Niki. You're thoughts are so open.

N: Heh, nothing fools you Sand. I'll remember that next time.

S: We're about to launch, look sharp.

N: Yes mother. I wonder if these Kaymirilians have any psi abilities... guess we'll find out.

S: Hush. We'll find out soon enough.

Something in the eyes...and the tilt of the head...this one doesn't want to be here, I think.

Kathleen was gratuitous, but remained on her toes, doing her best to hide it. She could not relax until she was back on her ship, but she had to play the part, a thing which most disgusted her.
"Thank you," she said with a tilt of the head. She began to wander about the area, examining things between sips of water.

The day was a warm one, but on the platform it didn't seem unpleasantly so, and while the sun was bright above, it was not blindingly so.

It was an odd phenomenon...for before, the day had looked to get uncomfortably warm, and the sun had beat down merciliessly. The skies had not changed for this change in environment, and the breeze, while it whipped the flags around on the fields, did not so much as ruffle a garment on the open platform.

Messages can attract the most interesting of guests. The thrashing of a drowning man could draw the attention of those who would aid him; or a shark, to feast upon him. Thus so, is space. An endless ocean where the wrong signals can attract predators; or life changing encounters...

The great ship of the Imperium tore through the atmosphere, rending asunder the layers that shielded the world from its sun; plunging through towards Terra Firma.

Upon it, stood Lord Lucian, PlagueLord of Nurgle; he blessed of the Father of Disease; he the Emperor's right hand. He had come; his gargantuan frame wreathed in armor and encrusted with insects and fluid; to negotiate with this new power emerging.

As always; the Imperium sought to expand its influence; tighten its grasp; and invoke others into the fold. With Lucian, there came Severino Jeriacor; similarly a Primarch; but he a servant of Tzeentch, lord of the sorcerous arts; master of Alchemy, Necromancy and all the arts of the warlock and the sage. It was he who controlled the majority of magickal power and artificats in the Imperium; outside of the Emperor's own...collections.

Our leader, James Talon, deeply regrets that he cannot be present here with us today. He wishes you well in your endevour, and sends a small tribute as a gift."

Sandy presented a small climate-controlled box she had been holding to the queen. "This is an Avalon crystal," she explained, opening the box and holding it for the Queen to see. OOC: Chronosia, don't be a fool to try and stir things up. I have ships and men in system to defend this launch, a physker of my own is on the ground (a powerful one), and of course you have the mages of Kaymiril, who are very dangerous indeed.

IC: Cougar approached Warfare and Arianna,"It is good to see you again, both of you. How have you both been"

He'd remained stoically silent whilst the other ambassadors were arriving. The No endorse onces seemed nice enough, and he offered them his hand,"Colonel Cougar, Snake Eaters"

The other, however, was a very different story. It was obvious to him, from her posture and bearing, that she did not want to be here. He subconciouslly noted that for further reference, then jolted suddenly. A burst of Chaos energy... extremely powerful. He took his leave for a moment, and went away to communicate,"Eldrad, we have Chaos"

E -- "I felt it through the Warp... seems like Nurgle and Tzeentch have taken an interest"

C -- "If they make a move, I have no doubt the mages will wipe them out... still, this is ominious. With Nurgle still plaguing the nation from time to time..."

E -- "I know what you're thinking. Be careful, James. Chaos has been rising in Snake Eaters for some time now... the physkers are beginning to fear that Undivided is going to make an appearance"

Cougar shut off the commlink with Eldrad, and moved back to where the other ambassadors were located, making his apologies to all.

N: A Snake Eater. Kaymiril has quite an ally there.

S: Yeah, I bet that with the weight of two GE nations here, most would think twice before pounding this place.

N: Unfortionatly we couldn't bring something like an ISD-two or an MC-cruiser. We have a decent presence though. If things get hairy, maybe we can call in the Midnight to give us a hand...

S: Look sharp, Cougar is coming back.

N: Next time, maybe we can not play diplomats. I prefer my toy soldiers and fighters. At least he's a military man like us, and not some cooped up politician back home.

S: Hush, he's a Snake Eater. He may have psi, so we'll need to be careful. I have a feeling that the Queen does, but that'll remain to be seen.

N: Like was said in a game the ancients played, 'Time will tell. Sooner or later, time will tell.'

"So, Colonel Cougar," began Sandy, "what news from the Shadowy State? We've been unable to attend many GE functions as of late, due to a few domestic problems, and we've not gotten many transmissions from many GE states. Have there been any large conflicts in the recent months?"

As he shook their hands, he couldn't help but feel something was very odd about these two. Quite what it was, he couldn't put a finger on, but something made the back of his neck prickle,"You look uncomfortable, having to play diplomat"

OOC: Chronosia, don't be a fool to try and stir things up. I have ships and men in system to defend this launch, a physker of my own is on the ground (a powerful one), and of course you have the mages of Kaymiril, who are very dangerous indeed.

OOC: wouldn't dream of it. Severino is a snake, machiavellian to the core; but Lucian is a more cunning and cautious leader. He won't let anything interfere with diplomacy. I don't see why I should be branded as stirring things up; just ask Gaian or others about my successful diplomacy and you'll find that I do have a certain amount of tact and honor about me.

OOC: Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. My mages aren't powerful. Which is why my Velkyn has the ability to cast the magickal equivalent of a nuke.
Second: I would like to say you do have a very nice way of sounding ominous.
Finally...send a message or something saying you'd like to come down. You'll be watched, but only attacked if you like...cause trouble.

Obviously you aren't familiar with arrogance....Because I say it does it make it true? God; you'd think that people couldn't get overconfident on NS.

The Snake Eater ships watched this new arrival with caution. The taint of Chaos pentrated every part of it's hull... but they would stick to the rules. Do not fire until fired upon. Many of the men and women had fought Chaos at some stage, and wished it's destruction, especially considering the fact that Nurgle's Rot had tried to destroy their nation. Had it not been for the medical brilliance of Mith, Kaymiril's Grey-class master, they would not have survived. But they would not let their discipline and reputation as excellent soliders collapse now, for the sake of vengence on a power greater than any of them

That's actually the last combat mission Nikola and I have been on. Everything since has been a tiny bit of therapy and a lot of patrols."

The Great Destroyers

A large Subspace aperture appeared over the Kaymiril homeworld. The size of it was incredible, larger than what most vessels would hope to be. For a few moments, it shivered, before calming. It was at this point the Outer Heaven 1st Fleet Juggernaut, the Colossus MK II , shot out of the aperture, it’s Inertial Dampeners not enough to slow down the 22.5KM ship at first. After a few seconds, the ship slowed, and stopped over the North Pole of the planet.

Normally such a sight would have invoked mass fear or every weapon on the planet firing at the intruder. But thankfully, the Serpantians had warned the Kaymiril Government that the flagship of the Outer Heaven fleet would be taking their leader (Who was, ironically, also the Grand Admiral of the Fleet) to this historic event. Sadly, however, the Serpantians had neglected to mention the fact that the ship itself was larger than two of your average cities.

For a few moments, nothing happened, as if everyone was waiting for the ship to state its intentions. Then, a simple message went out to the Kaymiril government:

Fear not Kaymirilians, this is Grand Admiral Anton Slavik, Overlord of Outer Heaven MK II.
I bid you greetings and I’m happy to say I’ll be down shortly.
But don’t worry, I won’t be taking the Colossus down with me.
I’ll be taking my Private Gunship, which is only 500m long.
I look forward to today’s events.
Anton Slavik out.

A few minutes later, a Crimson ship shot out from beneath the Colossus. Shooting through space at ¼ the speed of light, the ship began it’s quick descent down to the surface…

Emerging from the Gunship, with two bodyguards behind him, Slavik strode smartly toward the Queen. Slavik was wearing his white Grand Admiral’s uniform, and his red eyes were less piercing than usual (A good sign, half-Chiss eyes are great at giving away what the person’s emotions are). The two bodyguards behind him were in Peacetime armour, a slightly lighter red than usual. At their hips they had their standard issue gold plated Navy Wesson 56, neatly tucked away in a duelling holster. In their hands, the guards carried two Katana’s each, pointing upward, the sharpened edges pointing towards the guards.

Waiting politely until the Queen had greeted her latest guests (Which seemed to be from the Imperium itself, the Admiral noticed), Slavik and his two bodyguards stepped forward.

“Queen Kaymiril VII, it is an honour to meet you.” Slavik said warmly.

Slavik and his two bodyguards bowed deeply, the bodyguards sweeping their curved Katana’s so they rested on their shoulders. Waiting until the Queen had said her own greeting, Slavik held out a long, and surprisingly light box.

“This is our gift to you. We give it to every Nation we’re allies with upon meeting them for the first time. However, yours is special, due to the nature of today.”

When the Queen would open the box, she would discover a 4ft Quantanium sword, covered in an added layer of solid quantum (which looks a lot like pure gold), resting on a velvet cushion. In the hilt of the sword (where the cross intersects), there is a large purple gem, which, when touched, is surprisingly warm, and has minor healing properties.

Slavik smiled widely, revealing two rows of perfectly formed teeth.

“We hope you will accept it with the pleasure it was given.”

OOC: Slavik looks human, but his eyes are red, and his hair is jet black. Those are the only traits of Chiss you will spot in him, aside from the intellect and charm.

The Snake Eater ships paled in size compared to the gargantuan (read: verge of GM) ship in front of them. Still, their size was also an advantage... they were that much more difficult to target by this ship. None of them were impressed with the size, seeing it as pointless

They are greeted at their landing area (which is quite distant from the nobles' and delegates' platform, as Kaymiril is not best equipped to handle ships that were better than twice the size of the ship they would be launching that day.

The carpet ride was short, though, and they were dropped off at the platform.

What am I going to do with a sword that's almost as long as I am tall? ...Probably put it on display...somewhere...

Outwardly, though she smiled. "Your gift is accepted with at least as much pleasure as which it was given. This is a beautiful sword."

The ship landed; the great ramp sliding forth and the doors opening; silks and fineries billowing at the doors; as the two delegates stepped forth.
Lucian was a tyrannical figure; a great warrior garbed in terrible and corrupt armor; dripping with seething corruption and fluid. He was immense; but kept his helmet on, hiding his visage. Manreaper; his great Daemon scythe, remained chained to his back.

Severino came next, his armor less bulky; yet inlaid with beautiful and yet terrible runes and sigils. Allegience to Tzeentch, and Tzeentch alone was evident on his black armor; inlaid with so many symbols of the Gods. Talismans adorned his neck and belt; and he held a great staff; a coruscating pillar of Chaos energy....

They had arrived; and now they would have their parley.

"Greetings." His voice soft, slightly ominous, Lucian spoke, "I am Lucian, Plague Lord of Nurgle; and this is Severino, Sorceror of Tzeentch. We come in the name of our father; the Daemon Emperor; Marcus De Drakan."

"Severino Jeriacor." He bowed, his voice a serpents hiss of guile, seduction and charisma. "A pleasure to tread upon your world, I am sure." A slight smirk beneath his helmet. "I am the foremost scholar of magickal lore in all the Imperium; Lord of the school of magick, known as the Black Academy."

Cougar tensed up, and he almost went for his Gunblade. Chaos was hated in Snake Eaters, almost as much as Kaelis Ra. He didn't trust the new arrivals, and to ask him to was to invite scorn. He resisted the urge, and stood his ground. The sheer tone of the man's voice was enough to raise the hairs on the back of his neck once more. The pulsating runious powers in the man's armour also caused him to be cautious... he did not trust these 'people'

They'd said they'd come in peace...but their armor...and arms...raised doubts, especially in the minds of the guards that were there...among them Rildorath and Haldosir...ancient and powerful figures. They, however, stood in the background.

The Queen gave a regal nod to the two Chronosian delegates.

"Gre'as'anto lu' verve dro. You are welcome here..." She gave a half smile. "So long as our Healer does not discover your alignment."

This was a joke, of course...Mith was already well aware of Lucian's alignment.

She then turned to Severino.

Cougar half-listened to the Queen's words, but his eyes tracked the women from Kazecistan. She seemed not to want to socialise... not a good start for a diplomat. He shrugged nonchantly, and turned his attention back to the Chaos warriors.

Like the Drow guards, he was watching them very carefully. Super-imposed upon his left eye was a targetting system, providing tactical analysis of the warriors. It was something he only did when he suspected something, a by-product of his nanotechnology.

As the ship neared the crowds, it found itself slowing.

There was a maximum allowable speed here, and the ship was attempting to break that. The harder the foreign ship's engines pushed against it, the slower it would go.

OOC: TVU... you broke so many rules with that post. First, you did a hypersonic flyby over a populated area. Do you know how stupid that is? Secondly, you didn't even bother asking the Kaymirilian's if you could perform a flyby of any kind, oh no, you merely asked your own ship for it. Thirdly... we have a little plan for you

IC: "I wouldn't know. All I care about is that fact that they represent the Chaos gods of Tzeentch and Nurgle, and as such are vermin. Cowards, who seek the easier route to power. I will not start a fight with them, out of professional constraint and respect for my hosts, for it is at the Queen's leisure that I am allowed to live in Kaymiril with my wife... but I will finish one if it begins"

Slavik just nodded. Obviously it would not be wise to tell him that he had helped the Chaos out once or twice. Not for the wrong reasons, mainly because they were in the same Alliance, but still. Slavik lapsed into thought for a few moments, before saying,

"Oh, by the way, I'm Grand Admiral Slavik, Head of Outer Heaven MK II and it's Fleets."

The Pelican pilot spoke up.

"How will we be transported to the pad?"

The Valkyrie turned to the landing site, followed closly by the dropship.

A few minutes later, the two craft were on the ground, and were being towed into hanger-like structures, as the pilots and delegates exited their respective craft.

"Colonel James Cougar, Black Angels Company, Snake Eater Colonial Marines. I'm here representing Lord Barbarossa at this launch... we have helped the Kaymirilian's to jump the gap into space at their own request"

Cougar said this all without turning round. He knew his cover as a Marine Colonel had to hold. He was well versed in using it, partially because it was based on fact. He had indeed served with the Colonial Marines as a younger man... which wasn't all that long ago, considering he was just twenty nine years of age. That was before he had dissapeared into the dark underbelly of the military

IC:

Emerging fom cloak at the edge of the system was one of the Dominions newest ships, the Master of Puppets, a massive Metal Militia II class ship, it was to bring their representative in after launch, but the presence of Imperium vessels precluded that plan, now they would have to play their hand to preserve the balance of power. The ship burned in system, and upon entering a reasonable range broadcasted their intention to land a GS\transport with their delegate on board.

The three SEN ships on watch had since requested additional aid be supplied, due to the sheer size and number of ships entering the system. Codes from all over the galaxy, many languages... it was a miracle the Universal Translators were working as well as they were. The help came in the form of a Leviathan-class cruiser, on routinue shore leave nearby. However, it's crew had eagerly lent their hand. The ship now hung in space, helping to monitor all the comings and goings of others.

On the surface of Kaymiril, a few Kaymiril soldiers escorted the Velkyan group to a transport vehicle, and they speed off in the direction of the landing pad. The Honor guard assembled within the courtyard of the Imperial Embassy. They stood at extreme attention as if they were expecting someone important.

An aperture opened in the middle of the embassy courtyard. The angry red lightning flashed from the depths of the gateway as red clouds obscured the darkness of the background. Within, everything was black and red. A shapeless shadow appeared which slowly convalesced into a humanoid shape without details. Slowly features began to take form as it neared the opening. Suddenly the surface of the portal rippled and a man stepped out.

The elderly man was dressed in white robes trimmed with gold. He walked supporting his weight with a simple staff that looked like it was cut from just about any tree. His grey beard poked out of the hood covering the head.

Six guards immediately exited the Portal behind him and took position around him. The White and Gold of the Emperor shone brilliantly in the sunlight peering over the walls of the courtyard. The Ambassador approached the robed figure and bowed low, really low in fact.

“Welcome, your eminence. We have made the preparations you have requested. The rooms are in order.”

A quiet voice, but still filled with power replied back.

“I trust the rooms are as I asked them to be. I will see to them later. We must proceed to the Platform. The others are gathering already.”

“Yes Sire.”

The Emperor stepped upon the Hoverboard and after it lifted a few inches off the ground, the 6 Honorguard escorted him to the Platform where everyone was waiting.

OOC: This is a note to all peoples here. Anyone opening fire on anyone else, both parties will be asked once by the Snake Eater ships to cease and desist. If this warning is ignored, both of the parties will have a warning shot fired across their bows. If this is not heeded, they will both be fired upon. This is to ensure that the launch goes ahead, as Kaymiril has no space defence force, and Snake Eaters offered to do it, along with any Balroggan ships that join us.

There were many ships there already...more nations had sent representatives than had been expected, but that was a good thing.

The Balroggan delegation would notice a smallish ship in the center, though --red, with some black patterning. This was the Maelthra, and a little distance away from it were smaller ships...shuttles, in the same colors as the 200 m ship.

They were brought to the platform where everyone stood, the representatives from Snake Eaters, Outer Heaven, Chronosia, The Velkyan Union, No Endorse, Warhaven, Kazecistan, and, of course, Kaymiril, with more expected.

The Balroggan Emperor stepped up to Queen Kaymiril VII. He had heard of her and her nation from Galvenor Elvarryin, a Ta'Nar who had had the most frequent dealings with this particular race.

She made the slight bow customary to her race. "Gre'as'anto lu' verve dro, Nhur-Galladu. It is an honor to finally meet you."

Lucian and Severino waited and watched. The PlagueLord sighed within the confines of his helmet; determined to prove wrong the views that his race only excelled at being warriors and barbarians. Many did not appreciate the poetic and skilled souls that lay within. Many would not know how such power as they had, bought at such prices, made them all the more....decadant and sophisticated in their customs.

Severino shifted from foot to foot; diplomacy bored him; he was more at home in the schools and laboratories of home; becoming a beacon of shimmering knowledge to all who sought it. He brought power to those who wanted it with enough zeal to burn asunder all they once held; and with the foresight to take it from those unworthy of it. He silently contemplated this place. This royal; this entire world. He let a soft smirk cross his lips. A thousand blessings upon his father for giving him the chance to study other cultures and races; a thousand blessings of the gods upon this world; that tasted so...pleasing in its auras.

The Colossus MK II's engines came to life, and the ship began to glide through space at a near leisurely pace. The patrol pattern took about four minutes to one cycle, and the ship continued it.

"I'm glad to see I'm not the only soldier here. I was actually dreading this party, I don't tend to do much in the way of actual politics. The whole thing is just so...dull compared to commanding a ship of your own and exploring space."

They are set on the platform in short order. The wind isn't severe there at all, though it is open, and the flags still crack around it, and the temperature is pleasantly warm.

The Queen is over with a group of other delegates.

The Darchon approaches the tiny queen and bows low in obiesence(sp?, tired) "Greetings from the Terran Dominion your highness, I am the Darchon, I have come to welcome you into space on behalf of my people.", At over 8 feet tall the Darchon is still barely on the level of the queen when he bows.

Nhur-Galladu greeted the queen.

“Your city welcomes me with both honor and grace beyond any that was expected. Your people give you great honor this day.”

The old man slowly bowed to the Queen, using his gnarled staff for support.

“I am finally glad to meet you and your people. I have heard so much about you from Galvenor. Where would you like this old man to be so I won’t be in the way?”

Within her mind, Queen Kaymiril VII heard a soft voice whispering.

“My Honor Guard Fleet is waiting out of sight if they are needed. You are safe.”

Nikola Perez and Sandy Farsee maneuvered to the edge of the crowd, the better to observe the happenings. All of a sudden, a great host of delegates had arrived from all over the universe. From the frightening delegation of Chronasia to the mysterious delegation from Balrogga, quite a few major alliances and groups were represented.

Nikola looked over at Sandy and began to talk to her over their entwined consciousnesses.

N: Hmm, looks like this party is heating up. We must be cautious, a conflict here would spell doom for our hosts.

S: Aye... do you get an uneasy feeling that there people here capable of reading our minds?

N: Yes. Especially those Chaos and the Kaymirils. I believe the delegate from Snake Eaters suspects something, but can't put his finger on it. On the metaphysical plane, our entwined consciousness must stick out like a beacon. Let's be cautious in using it from now on.

S: Indeed. Well, shall we enter into a conversation? Or wait?

N: Wait. Fight the battle on our own terms. Going up to someone allows them to choose. We can move closer to the group though.

As the pair advanced, Nikola flagged down a Kaymirilian aide moving through the throng. "Excuse me sir, but can you get me and my companion something to drink? Something non-alcoholic if you can, neither of us can really hold our liqour."

Nhur-Galladu chuckled at the two who were acting like nobody could "hear" them. He was aware of their chatter as soon as he stepped through the Portal. He thought he would make himself apparent to them but decided to remain unknown.

He continued to listen passively to what every mind broadcast. His Honorguard would be doing the same searching for any who might be foolish enough to attempt anything against their Emperor.

He carefully hid his Power behind a false "virtual" mind.

A hush fell across the area as the appointed hour drew on.

Within the Maelthra, the crew was running the last minute checks. Everything seemed to be functioning as it should.

Still, there were seven silver-class mages aboard as a failsafe, in case something did go wrong.

Outside, there was all but absolute still.

K -- "For so long, we were complete in our own borders...but as all things...this too must end."

The drinks the No Endorse reps had requested were brought to them...it was a native drink, slightly sweet, but not unbearably so, with a full texture to it. Non alchoholic, as requested.

From the ship, an audio message came.

"Everything set here. Do we have your permission to launch, Valsharess?"

Kaymiril VII nodded from where she was standing.

"Permission granted...and good luck."

She hadn't raised her voice, but by some trick or spell, it carried so that all could hear...even in the ship.

The great engines started up for the first time, as the ship prepared to lift.

The sound crescendoed...and abruptly died as the engines stalled.

*Inside the ship*

"Come on, come on..."

The crew were all working frantically to find and fix the error.

An industrious engineer found a couple of wires that had fused during earlier testing. Replacements were quickly brought in, and they restarted.

All in all, the ship was stalled for about a minute, before the engines roared back to life.

A cheer went up as it cleared the ground, and it sped from the earth into the sky...and further on, beyond the atmosphere, where it joined the other ships in space.

As the great ship roared to life, Nikola and Sandy turned towards the Queen, lifting their glasses high. "Welcome to the void Your Highness." spoke Nikola, smiling. "To the Queen and Space!" Both downed their glasses in a traditional toast.

After they were done, they turned to watch the ship leap into space, like a lance of fire tearing through the sky.

S: This is something to write home about... beautiful, simply beautiful.

N: Yes indeed. They deserve every flame in the salute they'll get.

-------------------------------------------

Far above the surface of the planet, the two No Endorse ships began to launch small pods about them and to get close together. As soon as the graceful Maelthra was within visual range, a signal was given to the net of probes. Great jets of flame shot out of the probes, engulfing the two ships in a massive fireball, slowly moving outwards and dimming into nothingness, a dim red halo for the two behemoth craft.

As it subsided, the crackle of shielding could be seen around the two craft, huge bolts of energy shooting between them in a pyrotechnic show that was as awesome as it was huge. A signal was sent from the carrier to the Maelthra and any listening craft.

Welcome to the void. Up to this point, you have lived restricted to your planet. Now the possibilities are as endless as the star-lit blackness about you.

However, the void is as cold as it is infinite. Therefore, you shall always have a slip at the immortal docks of Haven.

As the ship was lifting off, the engines roaring, another, lesser sound could be heard. As the ship streaked skywards, it was joined by four other craft - SE Cobra's. They overflew the landing pad at a slow speed, rolling their wings in salute of Queen Kaymiril VII, before each one broke away and engaged their afterburners, climbing steadily after the ship, coming into a flanking position.

Aboard the Hydra, Lt. Haldros watched the ship take off with a huge feeling of pride in his heart. His people had finally broken away from terra firma, and were now members of the galaxy at large. He could remember no greater feeling

Guiding Hope fired a salvo of torpedoes, which detonated in spectactular lightshow some way from the craft, but still visible from the planet's surface due to intensity of the explosions. There was also a message, broadcast to all:

The moment the Maelthra broke the atmosphere, the Bridge crew of the Colossus MK II cheered. The Captain spoke up over the wild 'Whoops' and 'Yee-haws'.

"Everyone, please, quieten down! Tactical, fire four minor flares in the Flight Path of the Maelthra, but far enough not to blind them! And also fire six salvo's of low-grade Cruiser Missiles into the atmosphere! We're going to make a nice display! Comms! Send them this message!"

A few moments later, this was sent:

Congratulations, crew of the Maelthra, on your first true voyage into space.
This is a momentus achievement, and we salute you. We wish you good travels.
Sincerely,
Crew of the Colossus MK II

A picture of the Bridge then came up, showing all the crew doing a half salute. It was at that point that the flares exploded in the distance, creating a lovely purple display for the Maelthra.

During this, the Colossus MK II fired off sixty low-grade missiles in groups of ten at a time. They streaked through space, and just barely penetrated the atmosphere when they exploded.

The sky filled up with large flashes, and then large blossoming explosions could be seen, small fireball streaking from them. Thankfully, due to careful detonation, the fireballs went out long before they hit the ground, and no damage was done to the atmosphere. Slavik grinned.

She would barely remember them later.

After all this time...and all this work...from so many people...we've finally made it.

As the light from the 'fireworks' faded, different sigils of fire flared in the sky. They were large enough to be seen from space...a grand show.

An enlargened image of the Maelthra flared up, and worked its way across the sky. Maelthra, being the Drow word for 'Dragon', would thus make a fitting metamorphasis. The 'ship' blazed across the sky. The wings lengthened, and moved forward, and the body and head grew shifted positions, until a firey dragon swooped down over the crowd. as it pulled, up, the flames started to peel back and disappear, revealing a silver-ish (and solid) tint beneath. As the last of the flames vanished, the metal-wrought dragon headed straight up. The winds at its level beat with an almost unmatched force, but the skies were clear.

As it got enough altitude, the dragon suddenly exploded, creating little sparkling 'stars' which faded away.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I must rid you of your drinks."

And with that, Slavik went down the steps two at a time, and picked up a glass.
There was a celebration going on...elegant and sophisticated in the Drow style...but most definitely a celebration.

The Darchon approached the Queen again, accompanied by the guard holding the Document that proposed a treaty between their nations, it was hoped that Kaymiril would become staunch allies of the Dominion.
As Treaty Proposal was far from being an actual treaty, Kaymiril ordered chairs and a table for herself and the Darchon.

Basic points that Kaymiril insists on:

Kaymiril is in no way dependent upon your nation. We are allies and friends, and even trading partners, but never a dependency or a protectorate.

Kaymiril is not bound to fight in any war in which your nation was the aggressor, and we disagree with the premise.

Any act of war of one upon another makes the treaty null and void.

In a war between allies, Kaymiril cannot aide either/any side.

All of those were points that they had intended on including, they were just good ideas, and it was reassuring to see that the Queen knew her stuff.

Now for points that had not been included nby the Queen, but were negotiable:

Trade agreements, specfically, mutual discounts on international commerce between MM and Kaymiril.

Stationing and Pass rights, as long as they do not contradict any other provision requested by the Queen.

There were myriad other points, but they were rather minor, those two were the big ones, and deserved the most notice.

Kaymiril VII agreed to the two major points, but tweaked several of the minor points more to her satisfaction.

Since the tweaking was of little impact to their intentions, and had no negative impact on them, it was quite alright, the Darchon was quite ready to sign the treaty as it was.

Kathleen, noticing the festivities, decided to trade in her water for a strange, deep purple, drink. She also took a small pill just before her first sip. Ugh, this is going to take a while. she thought to herself. She decided it best to go put on her happy face and mingle with the others, though she wasn't much for conversation.

Nikola stood up from the table he and Sandy had been sitting at, and pulled a roll of parchment out of his coat. This sheet was invaluable. On it was a complete peace treaty, military alliance, right of passage treaty, trade treaty, and embassy exchange treaty. It was like a jack of trades, but it was thorough on every point.

"Here Sandy, why don't you go over to the party while I deal with this." Lowering his voice and leaning closer to her, he added, "Look for patterns. Unlikely alliances and things that look off. This is a perfect opportunity to see people's motives and alliegences.

Be extra cautious for mind-readers. If you feel an active mind probe, don't hesitate to sever ties. They can be reforged."

Abruptly, the two seperated, Sandy heading towards the throng of people milling about, Nikola heading for the queen. After waiting patiently for the Darchon to finish up formalities, Nikola approached Queen Kaymiril.

"Your highness. In light of your entry onto a new realm, the Inferno would like to open ties with your country." He unrolled the parchment and placed it before her. "It may appear that we are moving fast in this treaty, but we have been bretheren in the ITH, and Minister Talon believes this is enough to prove your worth. However, feel free to strike what you feel is too much this early. The hasty can oft be upset by the slow and clever."

----------------------------------

In the milling throng, Sandy was one of the only people hanging out with no one to talk to. Sipping her drink, she wandered slowly through the groups, looking for power players and for paired delegates. She noted that the delegates from Snake Eaters, Mini Miehm, and Outer Heaven conversing over to one side. Something that was surprising, but could have been expected due to their ITH relations. Satisfied that she'd observed most of the happenings that could be seen currently, she wandered among the throng, looking interested in striking up a conversation.

"Yes, often." Kaymiril (having finished with the Darchon (sorry, MM, we can finish that when you get back on)), took the treaty and read over it.

A well made treaty, this one. Everything. Right down to the exchange of ambassadors.

The Drow may have been RELAXED partiers, but they were nothing to the Tayledras clans of the Protoss, they took their fun almost as seriously as they took their work, and they were the ultimate masters of celebration, and this was favorably comparable to one of their celebrations, a very good thing, else the Darchon might have gotten bored.

You are members of a multi-national alliance if I remember correctly, but remember, better a true enemy than a false friend, and whatever his masters intentions may be, I cannot shake my mistrust of him. He is like an old foe of our people, long defeated, known as the Imperial Order, you either agreed with them, or died, perhaps there would be no death here, but the principle is the same.

These ships may be scanned and illegal goods confiscated at the digression of each nation. Taxes on traded goods will be equal, weather they are nonexistent is your choice.
