A shocking devlopment in the Tetcni Region swept through the minds of Government Officials earlier today. Within the preceeding three days militant separatists calling themselves Al-Shurrupak Tahriir whitin the predominantly Muslim Region of Tetcni have taken control of Territorial Gaurd and Republican Gaurd installations in and around the cities of Istanba, Lam, and Basli. Government sources are unwilling to release a statement regarding the ammount of equipment and man-power the seperatist forces may have at this time.

The move comes as a shock to both citizens and Government Officials alike within the nation. Over the past fourty years the disputed region has been carefully negotiating its separation from the Republic through Civil Senate meetings. The area is primarily agricultural, supplying much of the food used in the eastern portion of the nation.

Republican Gaurd forces are expected to be mobalised and deplotyed in and around the Tetcni region before peaceful talks begin on resolving this situation. As more details become avalible to us we will bing them directly to you, the public. Please stay tuned.

Three Days Prior: Breif Article Published in local Istanba public newspaper

Al-Shurrupak Tahriir
Long have we struggled for our livelyhood, long have we pained for our souls. Centuries of occupation, decades of talk. No longer will we watch our lives washed away by the sands of time. No longer will we allow ourselves to be silenced.
We stand, we fight, we take what is ours.

Three Thousand years of integration into the Sumerian Republic had done little to make those in the Tetcni region feel a part of the nation. Long ago had the native inhabitants of the region been extinguished, long ago had the immigration of foreigners wanting to become residents of Sumer been allocated to this area. Tetcni was a region filled with vast expanses of wilderness, parted by massive agricultural areas and small communities. It was the last habitable region in Sumer which had not been civilized. It was where they had moved to start their new lives. The rural and wilderness expanses of land within the Tetcni region were offered in plots to immigrant families into Sumer. The plots were free to those who qualified, and many came with government assistance in development. People flocked to the region hoping to make a name for themselves, hoping to raise their children in a home.

Eighty years ago all that changed. Industrial development within the area was limited by the government. Those most affected by this were the legal residents of the area, the ones who could not vote or run for office. The majority of these residents were Muslim. They strived for a say in their home politics. For decades the lack of industrial development led to the downfall of the regional economy. Families could barely support themselves, many were forced to band together and share amongst small, closed communities. The Final push over the edge was forty years ago with the expansion of the Parsi Nuclear Testing Grounds into a small portion of Tetcni, displacing hundreds of families who had been calling that area home for over a century.

Many fought, many struggled to bring self-governance to the region. The issue was brought up to the Civil Senate many times, and pushed aside like nothing by three successive Dictators. No longer. The people had had enough.
With the death of U.Namtar II, and the rise to power of his young daughter, the more militant of the separatists saw their chance. It had only been a matter of time before they struck.

OOC: I'm piecing this together slowly since normally I rp a fairly isolationist nation. I don;t expect this to jump into anything eye catching. But I'm in the mood to somehow bring one of my puppets into play, and thought this might be fun.

OOC: Tagged, I'd like to get in on this somehow. Perhaps an agent or SF team to support the rebels maybe?

OOC: Sure, but it can't be right away as it is. I'm going to start the combat itself tommorow. And from there we'll see where it goes. The problem (and this is strictly OOC) is that there is a small number of tactical nuclear weapons in a military base in Lam. So, despite the slow, or cool nature I am trying to portray from the government, this is going to turn sour fast. If you'd like to get in on the fighting for and in Lam, then feel free, because I'm starting that first thing tommorow.
