The Sel Appan Government has just shut down all non-state forms of media. Interestingly, independent media groups such as university newspapers were allowed to remain--for now. Without giving an explanation, Chancellor Ngu Phuok Dinh announced that all non-state media will be shut down. Few people see it as a threat because the state-run media is more educationally-driven than propaganda. In fact, very little propaganda is ever seen. Sel Appans seem to be ok with one loss of freedom for now. They haven't lost free speech, but as an anonymous government official put it: "...we shut down...corporate media groups..."
