An interesting idea- The NS news paper

OOC: I honestly have no clue where to put this thread (Gameplay, I.I., General, or Moderation) so I put it here. Now, I'm already aware that Frisbeerteria has a semi-theater going on and I've seen interesting RP's going on (both FT and MT). What I was thinking is that a Mod(or someone who has a lot of time on their hands) could create a news report of the major happenings on NS containing each of the sections on NS (Gameplay, II, Issues, ect) every month (or two weeks). There could even be a list of the most interesting technologies recently created.

Or, you could send out "reporters" on big events which happen on NS. Interview the creators of the threads which seem to be getting the most attention.

Would this be possible to create?

Seems like something that roleplayers, rather than the moderators, should do (if they're up for it). I don't see how this should involve moderation. I'm sure you can get together a few players out there who would be interested in doing what you suggest.

For gameplay events, something like this has already existed since 2003, called NetworkRadio

Perhapse a poll?

EDIT:
Where should the NewPaper be created?

I've never heard of it, and it sounds interesting. Assuming that this relates to all gameplays, I'm talking about only NS.

You'd probably get more responses in International Incidents, since this will include RP'ed events as well. Would you prefer me to move this thread to II?

Sounds like an idea. But, It would take some doing on the part of the RPers. There haven't been many I've seen that are dedicated enough, nor willing to stick with it. I'd say that it'd take a considerable amount of collaboration on the part of multiple players. I think a successful scheme would need either people with constant contact with each other via IM, or they know each other in RL.

Yes, also their is a large amount of RP's that go on every day, most die, some carry on for months.

White Tower has over 10500 posts in it now. The 700+ page monstrosity would be hard to read or even report on! Some others that are very indepth would take so much time to read, that a report will be outdated by the next few hours!

Huntaer, you know, I've just thought that the reporter thing might be something that I could do. Simply RPing reporters out in the field when possible would be fun. However, the more ambitious portions of your idea, I retain the same thoughts. (An actual newspaper requiring good cooperation, and communication, etc.)

(Heh, 2,000 posts!)

Both you and Kjata Major bring up good points. I'll have to think about this.
I do have journalism experience for me and Kyanges's High School Newspaper, so I could easily be one of the Reporters (I passed the class with a "B," exam "B-"). I could also see if I could get any suggestions from the Editors/Teachers incharge when school starts out again. Meanwhile, more suggestions/pointers would be good. Should I create a poll for those who definatly would be interested in being reporters(or those who have experience)?

Heh...well I do reporter things for RPs quite often, last one was a terrorist stole my military 'Terminator' Tank and they had a battle, the thick armor stood up to rounds of bullets and tank fire, though an airstrike finished it..the crew remained alive. lmao.

Yeah. That would be a thread report which would belong on the NS NewsReport.

UPDATE:

I've thought about what I'd like on the News:

A Future Tech section, as well as FT reporters

A Modern/Post Modern Tech section, as well as MT/PMT Tech

Topics would include:

Civil Wars
Terrorist activities
New Creations/inventions/Technologies
Latest issues
Latest
Organizations
Treaties
Embassies (creation)
New Nations

ect.

I'll produce a full list on the first post later on.

For Earth X, I am working on something special, if you check the II thread for it you MAY be able to piece it together alone. I gave a massive amount of information away that I shouldn't have. Though it was a leak.

Words like: "Northern, Island, refrigeration, piping, naval base, and a 'missing island', and no-fly zone."

Anyone know what all this means from just those clues? Gold Star if you get it right.

Oh ya...this tech is ANICENT, like 1940-idea.

(I'll give ya a post chance to get it, or I'll tell ya later)

For each time I do a press release you can be sure SOME of it is fake, for each time I do a 'leak', you can be sure that alot of it is true, but there is little proof. When it is the KBC broadcast you can be sure all of it is true. :)

Kinda like the real world.

You might consider tying in with the PNN (Pacific News Network) which has outlets primarily in the feeder regions. You can contact Sir Paul from the Pacific and he can help set things up if you are interested.
