Aboard the CSS Condoleezza Rice

This line of attack would be very slim for the Allaneans - only a swarm of light Hughey Mk II corvettes, none longer than 30 meters. The craft would come - all 250 of them - towards Hallad’s homeworld. A diversion, nothing more - but it would work for a while.

"Is everybody ready?"

"Aye-aye, Sir!"

"Proceeding into FTL in 30 minutes. Counting down."

"Thirty minutes, counting down, Sir!"

"Let’s lock’n’load!"

Leda, Jupiter Orbit, Sol
Five heavy cruiser battlegroups accelerated up, on a vector taking them out of the planetary plane. In a few hours, they were out of the system altogether. A bright, blue-white flash signified their going to slipstream.
Very soon, the small fleet'd be arriving as a support for their Allanean allies.

Herculean Orbit, Alexandira, The Seven Systems
As this was happening, six of the new No-Ships were preparing for their departure to the battle. Bulky, oddly-shaped machines, they were nevertheless the single most powerful ships in the Ineffable fleet.
At the appointed time, they winked out of reality, as they engaged the frictionless machinery of the No-Field generators. In precisely two and a half hours, they would fold space, taking them to the Halladian system, where they would remain cloaked until the ambush was ready.

OOC: Information about the Greater Prussian Stellar Navy http://s12.invisionfree.com/The_Planet_Mercury/index.php?showtopic=7

IC:

Admiral Jones Kowalski smiled. He was pretty young - the youngest admiral in the Confederate States Stellar Navy - and already, he was granted a great honour - to command the Imperial Navy as it attacked the home worlds of Hallad and the Island States. He already had a plan - a plan that would hopefully give the Halladi some real trouble, while not endangering any principal GPE ships.

He diverted a very small amount of ships from the Greater Prussian Space Navy and towards Hallad’s homeworld. Twenty Stahldoch-class cruisers, and two Golem-class fleet carriers would do fine. The ships would emerge from FTL on the verge of the Hallad home system and continue inwards, towards the Hallad main planet. Halladi raised their hand on Allanea one time too many. Now, they would pay. In blood.

Over Earth, ten Porcupine Mk II class cruisers moved towards the Halladi territories on Haven, their main cannons whirring up in a frenzy of motion. Today, Hallad would pay horribly. Even as they hanged in low orbit, the ten cannons of the Imperial ships fired, aiming at the Halladi capital, deploying a deadly rain of 300mm orbit-to-ground incendiary munitions. They were functioning on extended bombardment magazines - and so were protected by 10 more Staldoch destroyers and two Golems. The attack was timed with satanic precision, to the time religious Halladi people went to prayer in their mosques.

Hear now, people of Hallad! Your time has come! Bow to the power of the Empire and the Confederacy, and you will live!

It was quiet in Erse after the attack. No one was sure what had happened. Halladi figures, hastily made, estimate atleast thirty-five million were dead. Just yesterday Halladis worried about terrorists - terrorists who had bombed a childrens hospital. Today, the entire city was dead. And it had happened in less than twenty minutes.

There were military personel running around, driving in jeeps. They weren't in the city at the time.

"This is a call to arms! This is a call to arms! Any survivors, show yourselves! Join the Red Army today!" They said. But there wasn't anyone left, or hardly anyone left.

The Emergency Halladi Government soon gave orders. Anti-Ortillery Missiles were to be launched, five hundred of them.

Halladi Homeworld

The retreating Halladi fleet appeared around the homeworld. They were in time for a fight. The Halladi fleet around the homeworld was moving into attack position. On the planet, everything was mobilized. The government enacted what it called, "Plan S." S was for survival. It called for all willing men and women to report to military bases, where they would be armed. Millions joined after it was announced that Erse had been destroyed.

The deadly Halladi missiles sped up through the athmosphere, going for the Allanean ships. They were like lethal inverse lightning bolts, going up from the Earth to the sky, like an attempts by mortals to strike the gods that had failed them. But just as the gods that failed Hallad, so was the attack. The Porcupines, dedicated CIWS/Ortillery cruisers, came alive with all the CIWS that covered them, turning the large, ungainly missiles into stardust. Several dozen came through - and two Golem-class carriers and five Stahldoch destroyers simply ceased to exist in a flash of nuclear destruction. Nobody on board even had time to scream.

More Imperial ships were called upon. Time was needed till they arrive, and the Porcupines’ main guns were simply out of ammunition. A very simple solution was called for.

The three decommissioned Bulwark-II class battlecruisers were accelerated - like the one that crashed at Krendakov - and accelerated towards three different cities. New Dublin, Ryydka, Umbar. The names lit up on the Haven Strategic maps, the cities marked in glowing red, and Erse in blue. If the attack were successful, the cities would turn blue as well.

Halladi Homeworld

"Forward! For the Empire!"

The Imperial and Allanean ships swarmed out towards the Halladi homeworld, the Allanean little Hughey Mk II corvettes heading the pack. From the Golem-class carriers, dozens of bombers and fighters spread out, in an unholy carnival of incoming death. The Empire’s wrath was coming.

Halladi! You have angered the Empire of Greater Prussia! What you see now is not our doing. It is your doing. You have put your hand in the fire. Prepare, now, to burn.

A familiar scene now was seen in three more cities. Three much largers cities. Atleast one hundred million were killed in those three cities alone. Over eighty million in New Dublin, fifty million in Ryydra, and forty million in Umbar. The military soon swarmed, looking for survivors.

The military government on Earth saw fight to finally destroy those ships in orbit. They were going to fire more AOMs, much more. They had to. All nuclear weapons were armed in Hallad as well, targetting Allanean cities. Those weren't fired quite yet. Over two thousand AOMs were armed and fired at the Allanean vessels.

The Halladi Homeworld

The entire Halladi fleet moved into position. And they attacked. This was no longer a matter of winning, it was a matter of survival. On the planet the government deliberated. They launched all space capable fighters, some four hundred MiG-41 Valkyries. With the death of Halladis on Earth, hundreds of millions of Halladis readied themselves for an invasion.

In orbit, over Hallad

The Porcupines fought bravely against the swarm of missiles, but that was too much for even them to deal. The entire detachment and escort died within seconds. A minute later, there was no trace of them ever being there, the fragments mixing with the various bits of space debris always in orbit of Sol.

This meant one thing for the Greater Prussians. More ships had to be sent. Ten more Porcupines - the last of the fleet - and two more Golem-class carriers - were deployed. Now, the fighters of the Golem class carriers were deployed, their only goal to shoot down any nuclear weapons going towards Allanea.

Of the carriers, a hundred bombers took off, passing above Hallad in low orbit, dropping clean fusion nuclear weapons at what were presumed to be the Halladi nuclear silos. Each bomber carried only one of the heavy athmospheric-descent bombs. The point was not to kill off as many Halladis as possible now - merely to prevent a nuclear counterattack.

The Halladi homeworld.

The sixteen Porcupines - Allanean and Imperial moved among the Halladi fighters. Each was carrying an inordinate amount of CIWS/anti-fighter weaponry. Six hundred turrets. Ten craft. That meant there 23 weapons firing at any single fighter. Then, the Imperial fighter craft tore among the Migs - and despite the fire support, many Empire pilots gave their lives for Emperor Napoleon’s glory - they were outnumbered two to one. In the meanwhile, the huge swarm of Imperial and Allanean bombers and corvettes spread out over the planet

The last of the Halladi AOMs (on Earth) were fired, 1,500 of them. It was necessary. But now the Allaneans had made a mistake. They didn't attack any military targets up to this point, and they attacked a state under martial law. The Air Force, tracked the bombers. Thousands of SAMs were firing missiles at the bombers the minute the entered Halladi airspace. The planes in the sky, the closest were two hundred MiG-41s and a hundred MiG-2000s, Su-36s, and MiG-28s converged on the bombers.

Halladi Homeworld

Transmission to New Haven Fleet:

"Engage the enemy. Destroy them at all costs."

Halladi pilots are excellent. Born to fly, and the best of the best piloted the dead MiG-41s. Most fired off missiles and then engaged the enemy in a dogfight - using their deadly twin 30mm autocannons to their advantage. Some fifty MiGs were destroyed in the initial skermish.

Meanwhile on Hallad all AOMs were armed. The Halladi government had stockpiled AOMs, and they had tens of thousands of them. Targetting all Allanean corvettes, two for each ship, they fired the first wave of them off.

Now, the AOM’s were met with a withering burst of fire from Porcupines, Stahlodch’s, and the hundreds of fighters in the air. The Porcupine’s alone had 6,000 total CIWS guns. The huge missiles never stood more than a remote chance - and they took it well, destroying five Porcupines and two of the carriers. In the meanwhile, the bombers skimmed the very upper Athmosphere, out of reach for most fighter craft. Twenty-five of them died before their deadly cargo could be delivered. Twenty more had to flee before they could do it. Still, fifty-five of the clean fusion nuclear weapons were dropped on whatever seemed to the Allaneans to be a military installation. Then, the five remaining Porcupines’ main guns came alive again, hitting suspected missile silos with a stream of light tactical Anti-Matter shells.

Halladi Homeworld

Massive explosions. Two dead Porcupines, lost to Halladi fire. And one hundred Imperial fighters. The Allanean corvettes, in the meanwhile were taking fire from huge AOM’s - bigger than the corvettes themselves, in fact. The corvette’s on-board computers dodged or shot them down easily - but still some got hit, flaring up inside the athmosphere with 100-megaton explosions. The other corvettes delivered their cargo. Each had two large bombs strapped roughly to their belly, which they released over farms, population centers, whatever they could hit, randomly, inaccurately, spreading as far as they could. Some carried Athmospheric Re-Insertion Bombs - large shells that would fall apart, delivering several small 1-kiloton submunitions to a city. Yet others carried defoliants or sarin.

50 of the Hughies would never make it off-planet.

"Lock Siege Cannon and prepare to fire. Alert the Halladis, this is going to be a massive burst. Stay clear of the transmitted zone of influence." the CO of the Second Fleet ordered. "All gravgun batteries, open fire on enemy ships! All ion cannons, fire! All corvettes and gunships, lock onto strike craft and fire! All strike craft, launch torpedoes on target!"

The Superheavy Ion Cannons and Superheavy Gravguns of the Island-class mothership roared to life, targetting the lead Porcupine. The corvettes and gunships stayed out of the Porcupine's deadly sphere, taunting any strike craft to come for them.

The siege cannon finished charging, locking in on the center of the Porcupine formation. The fusion powerplant dumped fusing plasma onto the shielded gravity/shield center shell, the shields protecting the shell while the gravity would hold and contract the ball until it either hit something, reached its detonation point or lost too much heat to sustain the shell's power generators. The shell left the gun, creating a white-hot coma of fusion plasma around it. It flew forward at 4 km/s, a slow speed but enough to get the Porcupine's attention.

Comrades! The Halladi people are dying at the hands of Allanea. The Prussians seek money and land. They wish for US to pay THEM. After what they've done today, there is no excuse. You, comrades, must act now! We can only hold out so much longer before every man, woman, and child has been slaughtered at the hands of the Allaneans. Please help us! Don't let the Halladi people die!

* * *

Many nuclear silos in Hallad were destroyed, but not nearly enough. Hallad fired no missiles. They launched no more fighters. Everything was quiet. The Halladi desert was litered with nuclear facilities.

On the Halladi homeworld atleast another million people had died from the bombings. Seeing this destruction, the James Newman turned round, and heading for the planet. It opened fire on the Allanean corvettes, hoping to take them all down.

"We will be deploying dropships to rescue and aid any Halladi survivors who wish to leave their nation until this conflict is resolved. Any attack on these dropships shall be viewed as an act of war."

The Khristian Battlegroups deployed all their availble dropships and it was expected that about 13,000 Halladi could be rescued in the first wave. Mother Teresa class vessels had been called up and they would be able to rescue over a hundred thousand per vessel, depending on the speed of the dropships and how much the Halladi liked close-quarters.

The Military governemnt of Hallad, which established itself in Haven at the begining of the genocide, authorized elderly person and children to be evacuated. Women who did not wish to fight, or were not able, were free to leave. Men who could not fight were authorized to leave. Able bodied men were also given a choice - all of them stayed. All together about two hundred million people were ready to leave Haven.

A transmission was sent around Haven, and to the Allanean fleet.

"We will never surrender."

12-08-2005, 03:35
Three more Porcupines became pulsating balls of light, and disappeared. Then, they turned, slowly, aiming at the Newman with their main cannons and all forward-aiming weapons - and opened up, concentrating fire on the huge ship. A long, long burst it was - and it would continue until either the Allaneans and Prussians ran out of money - or the Halladi ran out of life. Before anything happened, the Newman exterminated, methodically, fifty more corvettes.

A message was beamed to every asset of GPSN - more was needed. More troops. More resources. More ships. And so, the HMS Napoleon Bonaparte and ten Warliner-class ships were being readied for combat. Two hours later, they entered FTL.

Over Hallad proper

One of the Stahldoch-class destroyers turned slowly towards Harad. And fired it’s four missile tubes, attempting to hit the city with four ten-megaton anti-ship missiles.

In the meanwhile, surviving fighters descended into the atmosphere, scouring Hallad, hitting everything looking even remotely like a building with their cannon,.

And from orbit, on every Halladi frequency, came a single message.

[I]No, Halladi. Your radio lies. Your nation is dying. Dying because of the folly of your own leaders. We still offer the same. Surrender. Acknowledge your crimes. Retreat from Haven. And live. We are merciful. We promise you life. Your leaders are not - they care not if we kill more of you, but only for their vanity and pride. Ask them to give up - and we will spare you if they will.
Hallad

Another fifty million dead before they could be evacuated. Harad was the last of Hallads major cities. And now all was silent. The ironic part of this was that not one military target had been attacked. Allanea had done what the Collectivist Union couldn't do. What the Socialist Party could never accomplish. The Halladi people were completely and unconditionally unified. They would never surrender. They could never surrender.

News of this atrocity came to the survivors soon. The Halladis turned up the radio. There was only one boradcast.

"This is Radio Hallad. We will never surrender. We will never give into the Prussian Dogs! We are fighting for our lives. We are fight for our farms! We are fighting for Hallad! If you don't have a gun, report to the Militayr Authorities immediatly. The Hallad here is controlled by the Military. There is no other order now, our politicians are dead. I can only hope that our comrades on the homeworld are doing fine.

Grab a gun, kill an Allanean! Death to the Prussians! This is Radio Hallad..."

Over Hallad Haven

"Very well," said the Admiral, "We’re doing good so far. I believe it’s time to reload the Porcupine’s magazines. In the meanwhile, let the fighters do their work. Oh, and what’s that thing there on the map? A starport of some form?"

"Yes, admiral…" - replied a Dersconi sailor. "Erse-1 Naval base, it is called."

"Wait." - the Admiral’s face got a bit red. "You mean we nailed about two hundred million civvies and never got the bloody naval base proper?"

"Yes, admiral, but…"

"Just hit it."

Several Imperial Staldoch-class vessels span slightly in orbit, firing a hail of the same ship-to ship missiles - forty in number. Ten to Erse-1 Naval Base, and 30 to the biggest collective farms. Again, clean fusion warheads were used, to cause minimal or no fallout. Then, fighters swept over the remaining collective farms, bombing them with incendiaries - village after village after village. After all, as the old adage said, The screams of socialist soldiers as they are hit with napalm are the sound of freedom. The Admiral carried this adage into life with all of his military talent.

And in orbit, support craft worked steadfastly, re-arming the Porcupines with full capacity.

Haven homeworld

The first of many flashes came to be - and the HMS Napoleon Bonaparte and its escort came into existance.

And the broadcast came, on the same frequency of Radio Haven. Leaflets came, too, dropped on whatever Halladi villages were still up.

Watch, Halladi! Your allies have forsaken you. Your army is fallen. Your brothers are dying, trying to shoot down our craft with AK-47’s. The Greater Prussian military is victorious on all fronts. We need not to offer you mercy, but we will. Surrender, and live.

Petty Officer Izumi clung to her seat as the dropship was in hurtled towards irradiated Hallad. It was going to be Hell and she knew it, they didn't have all that many radiation suits on board and she was one of the many unlucky ones to not have one. It was a noble cause perhaps, either that or really stupid...

'The world is my expense
The cost of my desire
Jesus blessed me with its future
And I protect it with fire'

As the dropship activated it's thrusters for a controlled descent she looked out one of the windows. They were only about twenty meters above the city, well what was left of it. There was nothing but smoke fire and dust... But then she saw what seemed to be ghouls, beings not of this plane, something out of sinc with reality. It was a hellish sight as Halladi's of all backgrounds and ages made their way towards the dropship. Many of them were practically crippled and dragged themselves along the ground. Blood and dust was everwhere and the fire seemed to consume everything.

The boarding ramps to the dropship opened as she and twenty-five other Khristian noncom's disembarked to get the Halladi onboard.

'So raise your fists
And march around
Just dont take what you need
Ill jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed
Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or Ill drag you to your grave
Im deep inside your children
Theyll betray you in my name'

She grabbed what was left of an old man who was nearby, his legs completely gone but he was still alive, his moans rising with a chours of others.

"Damn." Muttered Lance Corporal Makai. "The radiation reading is over 500 rads, we got to get out of here fast."

"Fuck it all Makai, we're here to resue these people! Something that no one has really ever done for our people.... But let's put that aside and get them onboard!" Yelled back a desperate Izumi.

The scene was repeated throughout the four decimated cities of Hallad, but it was much calmer elsewhere... where the destruction seemed far off and the grass was still green and the wind blew not with a toxicity, but with a gentle caress. This was where most of the Halladi were rescued, where most of them had survived.

'The lie is my expense
The scope of my desire
The party blessed me with its future
And I protect it with fire'

Deeper within the city Izumi found a child crying over what was left of his mother's body. She quickly took out a tarp and wrapped the body in it, carrying it over her shoulder to the dropship while the little boy held her hand. She had seen things like this before, back on Mars where the Tyrannic War still raged. She had been a little girl during the opening months of the war, seen the destruction in the news reports that came in from Santa Barbaran Noachia. She remembered fleeing with her family as the hordes had advanced until one day, she was all that was left of her family. And she had knelt over her mother just as the little boy when a Dwarf soldier had come and helped her to one of the safe zones...

War and destruction weren't new to the Khristians, it was something synonmous with thier name. But just because they were passionate about war and death and bloodletting didn't mean that they didn't feel or care. The Khristians had been through Hell and they didn't want anyone else to suffer their fate.

'I am the Nina The Pinta The Santa Maria
The noose and the rapist
The fields overseer
The agents of orange
The priests of Hiroshima
The cost of my desire
Sleep now in the fire'

She held the little boy in her lap as the dropship went back up to the Izumi carrying over 4,000 Halladi crammed in wherever they could fit. As the ship docked she hugged the little boy and said "I'll be back soon don't you worry." And she returned to her dropship to expeirence Hell once again.

'Sleep now in the fire!'

The naval base was destroyed, though it no longer had any value. The Halladi fleet was not docked. There were hardly anyone still at the base, though a couple dozen logistics personell were killed. Meanwhile another hundreds of thousnds, atleast, were killed as the Allaneans attacke collective farms. Halladis smartened up. Soon farms were abandoned.

"Funny, this," Said a Halladi sitting outside.

He was looking at what the Allaneans had dropped.

On board the Izumi

"Ugh, I can't take it anymore! Have out point-defense lasers target all missiles coming from the Allanean Navy. Target their fighters too, I want as little getting through as possible! What's the headcount on the Halladi?"

"We've got about 400,000 spread across the fleet, sir."

"Is there anyway we can speed up the process?"

"Well we have those experimental FTL gates adapted for atmospheric use."

"Use them."

'For its the end of history
Its caged and frozen still
There is no other pill to take
So swallow the one
That made you ill'

Izumi's dropship was carrying something different now. An FTL gate for use in the atmosphere. It was wierd. It consumed so much power that they needed another dropship to bring down the power units, it didn't seem likely that the Halladi had the means to power this kind of thing.

She and here twenty-five fellow crewmen carried the heavy ring and it's mounting base out to a safe distance away from the dropship. These things had been tested once or twice before, with some minor side effects to the test subjects, they would be pretty much fine though.

They hooked the power supply up to the gate and ran the dialing program through a computer onboard her dropship. A cascade of pink burst out from the ring and then stabilized, showing that a link had been formed with the gate in Neo Zion City.

She grabbed the hand oh a Halladi woman and guided her to the gate. She had been through hyperspace before, but she knew that this was going to be different...

'The Nina The Pinta The Santa Maria
The noose and the rapist
The fields overseer
The agents of orange
The priests of Hiroshima
The cost of my desire
To Sleep now in the fire'

Izumi and the Halladi woman emerged on the otherside, almost unable to breathe, they felt really cold but the experience had been amazing. The medical staff that awaited at the base of the platform looked befuddled and soon Halladi came pouring through the gate and medical workers rushed them to the massive field hospital that had been set up around the gate.

The newest holding of Menelmacar was, in fact, directly next to Hallad; it was, however, universally recognized that the idea of rendering aid now, while the deadly rain of fire still continued over the Halladi nation, was stupid and likely suicidal.

New Haven had dismantled the bulk of the infrastructure - it had not been part of the land deal, apparently, and hadn't been up to the Elves' spec anyhow - but Menelmacar had been hard at work repairing it. Today, though, all was strangely quiet. It was almost ironic, with so much war and death filling Haven now, that the Menelmacari lands were at peace. The Empire had both friends, and enemies, on both sides. And it was not the Noldor's war. They could not, and would not, join either side. And likewise, it seemed neither side had quite the deathwish striking against the Noldor would require. So, for this day, for this war, the Menelmacari plascannons remained silent, and life went on.

Except with more shiny.

Only those closest to the borders could hear, far off, the distant low boom of nuclear detonations. But for all in the young province, the eastern horizon was lit by the dim orange glow of conflagrations that consumed entire Halladi cities. So much dust and particulate was kicked up by the bombings, the sunrises would be beautiful for months to come... but even this paled next to today's light show, with the flashes, and the streams of fire pouring down from the heavens.

It was spectacular.

The smallcraft and frigates came back to the HMS Napoleon Bonaparter. There, the surviving craft were re-stocked with more powerful weapons - one megaton nuclear bombs and dirty nuclear weapons, as well as cobalt munitions. The surviving craft - 200 in total - made another pass at the Halladi population centers, dropping weapons.

This was going to be easy.

Hallad Haven

The admiral smiled. "So the little Kristies wanna play, do they not? Call off the fighters. Shoot down any Khristian craft that interferes. And begin operation Ultimate Justice."

The main cannons of the Porcupines were loaded, and extended magazines were ready - each ship was ready to fire 9,000 rounds, each at a measly yield of one and a half kilotons. And fire they did. For fifteen minutes, all of Hallad roared as the ships turned, spraying low-yield clean nuclear weapons throughout the country, trying to hit the places where the enemy villages were - but not particularly. More like, spraying fire into all of the country, covering as wide an area as possible.

On GPNN, the attack was shown live from orbit. In the ticker, a single phrase shone. 'The Emperor is slightly displeased with the nation of Hallad'. Fifteen minutes later, when the explosions died down, a single phrase was broadcasted.

You can still surrender, you know.

The main Ineffable taskforce, the five heavy cruiser battlegroups, arrived in the Halladi homesystem with the standard blue/white flash of a slipstream portal.

Ignoring the space battle between the Halladis and the Allaneans, the battlegroups proceeded to station themselves around the planet. Three battlegroups made a triangle around the equator, while the other two took a pole each.
In other words, they were perfectly aligned for a devastating ortillery strike.

But only one opened fire, a two-second burst. With the combined firepower of a heavy cruiser and four DSAs, it only took that long to launch three-thousand and forty ten-megatonne nuclear ortillery missiles. They were concentrated solely on the largest continent, with the intention of glassing it.

About five minutes later, another battlegroup opened fire. This time, they were aiming for a volcanic hotspot under the ocean. Only few dozen missiles were launched, but they were sufficient. The crust, and a good deal of ocean was vapourised, with th intention of allowing a little magma out to play.
And, of course, creating a giant tsunami.

A message was then broadcast to the Halladians.
Ready to surrender yet?

The military government, after distributing all of its NBC equipment, pardonded all of the militia who did not recieve it. These men headed for evacuation areas, and some simply crossed the boarder into Yasmarea. These left a handful of militia - five million - and the one hundred fifty thousand combatants of the military to defend Hallad. Meanwhile the military forces in the area hunkered down in bunkers, of which there were plenty, in the Halladi desert. They waited for he bombartment to stop.

The Allaneans had destroyed the refugee camps created to evac people out of Hallad. The Khristian fleet had no one to pick up anymore. (atleast 100 million dead)

As there were no more civilians to save, there was only one course of action left. Mutually Assured Destruction. The nearly twenty thousand nuclear ICBMs that were still opertation in Hallad fired at all Allanean civilian targets.

After much dilerberation, it was decided that, despite the lack of training Hallad would release its only other space craft. They weren't even named yet, but they had crews and basic designations. They were stocked, and ready to go in a moments.

Massive roofs, designed to look like grass and desert, opened up in various spots across the planet. Four large space vessel the S95 Carrier, S50 Battleship, S55 Heavy Cruiser, and the S30 Cruiser took off. There in the sky nine frigates met up with the four main ships. This was the Gold Star Fleet of Hallad - or atleast of portion of what it was supposed to be. The three types of Frigates, the S23, S40, and S12 moved quickly, leaving the atmosphere. The S23s, a support frigate had two small landing bays, and the three ships launched fighters, ten MiG-41s each. The Carrier deployed its forces as well, forty MiG-41s. Another forty of the Halladi fighters came from the S50 Battleship. They quickly moved into formation and engaged the Allanean corvettes around the planet. Along with the support from six of the frigates.

The S40s and the larger ships moved to meet up with the James Newman which had sustained moderate damage from enemy fired. The ships began opened fire on the Allaneans.

OOC: I'm not trying to wank or anything. I really have been working on a space fleet, and was going to reveal it, 'til this happened.

Defense Swarm

The five warsats and hundreds of lesser consorts move through high orbit - cold and silent aside from several beacon drones, reactionless and low-yield EM drives engaged in the perpetual evasive maneuver of a warship, however humble.

As things heat up, the swarm's claws unsheath slightly and its eyes come wide awake. Above and around, other assets look ever closer at the escalating conflict, datastream feeding into the truth rivers.

Dedicated reconnaisance platforms are already at work, but for now the very sharpest eyes the Sphere has are those of the swarm's passive sensors as it sweeps by in its orbit.

Hotspot, defense-covered assets in proximity. There will be swarms over the horizon at all times, now.

OOC: Hallad, I recommned that you A) Post losses to my attacks on your home world and B)Post losses to TST’s attack on your homeworld. Yes, he didn’t mention your orbital defenses. Mention them shooting down X% of his missiles and all will be fine in the world again. He probably hasn’t mentioned your orbital defenses before other people were attacking your home world with reasonable success so far. This is not such a big problem that it warrants use of the big ignore cannon.

IC:

Over Hallad, Haven

Thousands of ICBM’s rushed outward from Hallad. They were fast - for something from the 21st Century. Compared to the speeds the spacecraft AI’s were used to, the ICBM’s were turtles. The Staldoch’s hit them, as hard as they could, with a waves of ten megaton nuclear anti-ship missiles, trying to stop all they could on ascent. Then, the Porcupine’s main cannons came alive, trying to stop as many missiles as they humanly could. Then, as strange as that was, the nuclear missiles crashed into the sea, shaking Haven with seismic aftershocks.

Still, the damage to the Allanean side was terrible. Yurka-city was entirely wiped out. An errant missile dropped in Western Axackal, killing 15 million of it’s citizens .And then, a horrible thing happened. Some tectonic plate was affected - Haven was always strange, tectonically - and the entire state of Daikatana moved slowly, sinking by ten meters blow sea level Dozens of millions died as they failed to escape the damage.

As it was later recorded, 156 million Allaneans died in the attacks. The full extent of the damage was yet unknown. Later, Allaneans would suffer unprecedented suffering from it - but that was still a secret, even to them.

The damage sustained by the Halladi in the previous attacks on their home world was still unreported. So the crew of the Imperial ships made a swift decision. They launched a nuclear missile at every spot from which an ICBM has been launched. And then, the Porcupines went to reload, with more siege magazines. The Staldoch crusiers replenished their missile supplies.

To Greater Prussian forces, the following message was sent:

We approximate that only a handful of Halladi troops are alive. Mop them up with infantry - we are going for their home world

Four hours later, the ships were gone.

OOC: Just sum things up so far

200 million Halladi civilians have fled the territory, mainly going into Yasmarea.
350 million have been killed.
A good five million are still with the military, and another 45 million or so are mia, probably dead.

IC:
The Silver Turtle fleet appeared suddenly, and two dozen orbital defense platforms kicked in. Initially they fired at the ships, but as the missiles were fired atleast a hundred more orbital platforms began defensive procedures. Anti-ballistic missiles from all over the planet were fired. Thirty missiles made it to the surface, contaminating a small portion of ocean.

The Allanean bombs came, and as many as were possible were shot down. Still, some made it to the cities. Cassualties weren't counted, but the government quickly moved survivors to safe houses and bunkers.

Now, the Imperial ships appeared - and with them, the terrible message: Allanea was attacked. One hundred and fifty six million Allaneans were dead. The Allanean - and Imperial sailors were struck by a fiery rage. Within minutes, the decision was made - the various corvettes, bombers, fighters, a hundred or so in number, dove for the orbital defence platforms. In the meanwhile, the Warliner-class battleships divided, each of the monstrous two-kilometer craft attacking a separate Halladi warship, choosing the biggest targets they could find. The ten Stahldoch-class craft, too, chose their targets, although acting on the reverse principle, choosing targets of their own size.

In the meanwhile, the Porcupines - now, a full twenty-three in number - aimed their weapons, firing long bursts, half of ordinary nuclear 1.5 kiloton munitions, half of cobalt nuclear devices, designed to create as much deadly fallout as possible. They were to distribute a terrible amount of 264,000 low-yield nuclear munitions around the planet, to cause as much environmental damage as possible and to kill as much as possible of the farmland. Even if the Halladi lived, they would starve.

* * * *

Sergeant Pereeek K’lak, a Dohwar warrior, led his Hughie Mk II corvette in another strafing run against a Halladi orbital defence system. He had no hope. His crew were all dead. The pilot was bleeding to death next to his seat. He was sitting in his place, crabbing the controls with his flipper-like appendages. Yes, the AI would order the turrets to strafe the platform again. It would be probably nothing to it - and he had family in Allanea. Family that were now dead. And he was a DeathSquealer.

DeathSquealers were an ancient Dohwar cult. It taught of warriors who disregarded - nay, welcomed - death itself. They believed that it was the highest moment of the warrior to disregard death, to plunge towards death. To become death.

K’lack let forth a terrible, squealing sound as he aimed his ship at the defensive platform, turned his engine on full speed, and turned on the self-destruct mechanism.

When his act was noticed, five more of the Allanean crews repeated it.

This is an order. We need all Vanguard-class Imperial cruisers and Stahldoch-class destroyers to be transferred to this sector. This is an order.

In the meanwhile, the main cannon on the Napoleon Bonaparte was still slowly charging.

"Commander, the Prussians have opened fire on our dropships."

"Damn, launch all missile tubes bring all ships to bear, launch all fighters and corvettes and call in reinforcements."

A furious barage of laser, plasma, and missile errupted from the two Khristian battlegroups. Even though the Prussians had recalled their fighters, the Khristian fighters could still be effective.

And soon the reinforcements would arrive, three more Khristian battlegroups, the last one from Neo Zion's force and two Confederate Battlegroups.

In a move which brought tears to the eyes of fellow Captains, the James Newman acted quickly and selflessly. The captain of the ship knew that it would be impossible to live on the planet if more nuclear devices hit. So the massive two kilometre long vessel moved itself infront of the on comming tactical nukes, all 264,000 of them.

The sheilds were already damaged, and CIWS managed to get a couple. But it was no use. The guns kept firing as they missiles hit. They fired at corvettes mainly. The orbital defense grid was taking a beating, atleast a dozen platforms had been destroyed. The Island-class mothership eventually gave out, snapping in half from the nuclear devices. A couple hundred got though, and most of them were picked off by ABMs and orbital platforms.

The rest of the fleet fought on. Several frigates had taken damage, three had been destroyed. The larger ships had taken light damage, and moderate damage to their shields. The Halladi fleet kept fighting.

The swarms of the Imperial smallcraft were gone entirely, smashing themselves against the Halladi defenses. Two Staldoch-class corvettes were destroyed as well. The Porcupines have run out of ammunition again and had to move out to reload at an Imperial base. Given that the nearest one was on Sol, at Mercury, this would take a very, very long time.

On the other hand, good things happened too. The Imperial Vanguard-class cruisers emerged from Hyperspace, together with 20 Stahldoch-class vessels. They spread out, again, to engage the Halladi ships. The Stahlodch’s rained out their famous heavy anti-ship missiles, and the cruisers belched missile and cannon fire. Now, the Halladi would have some serious problems.

And the main cannon on the HMS Napoleon Bonaparte has finally completed powering up. It was not charged to full power - only to about five gigatons. When it fired, externally, there was no special effects at all. No beam, no flash. Only a big explosion on the surface of the planet - where the cannon has it, somewhere in the ocean, hoping to create a large amount of radioactive vapour to spread all over the planet. Within 300 kilometres of the blast, water rose up in a large plume of vapour, and an immense fireball rose above the waters, glowing for a full 208 seconds. Obviously, this, too, was televised for GPNN.

IC:
The intial barrage from the defence platforms was mostly shrugged off by the fleet. Point defence lasers, shields, and defensive missiles launched from the frigates. A more prolonged barrage would've had more success, but as it was the worst damage was to the paint jobs.

The ships, rather annoyed by the insolence of the orbital defence platforms, decided to open fire on them. This time, the majority of the missiles were OM-5 kinetic kill-missiles; small objects lacking a warhead, instead doing nuclear-blast levels damage due to their immense speed of around 90 PSL.
But about one in every hundred missiles launched, making it an appreciable number in total, were SAPM-6LII Strategic Star Arrow Multiple-Independant Kill Vehicle missiles. These split into seven smaller missiles before reaching the target, and each fragment contained a 200-megatonne anti-matter warhead.
The frigates, on the other hand, were firing DM-5 defensive kinetic kill-missiles, intercepting many of the missiles directed at the battlegroups. Not to mention the numerous point-defence lasers doing the same job.

Noticing the fighters launched by the Halladian ships, the heavy cruisers disgorged their complements, each filling space with 124 fighters, 12 very-heavy antiparticle cannons and 52 space-combat mechs.
These, barring the antiparticle cannons, went on seek-and-destroy missions, to obliterate the orbital defence platforms. Fighters fired their anti-proton cannons and, when they felt like it, one of their small missile complement too. The mechas were using good old-fashioned bullets...fired from gauss cannons...and their plasma swords from close-range too.
Heavy casualties were expected, but they didn't really mind. Shortly, enough satellites should be destroyed to launch another ortillery strike.

*Hallad Haven*

A small Imperial Armada steamed through the Haven straits. They planned to reach Hallad and deal with the details. In tow were several Aigle class transport ships which carried the infamous Red Hand division of the AVF (Allanean Volunteer Force), along with 100,000 of the Imperial Grande Armee that had transferred to Hestonia. Approximately 150,000 troops were ready to do the dirty work of cleaning up Hallad.

The commander of this force, Marechal Auguste Bernadotte, was overly prepared for the task. Another Convoy was preparing to leave from Hestonia with another 100,000 troops of le Grande Armee. Always hit a fly with a sledgehammer.

After the attack on Allanea in which many Imperial Guardsmen died as well, the troops were ready to administer a dose of Imperial Justice to Hallad.

As Marechal Bernadotte looked out over the horizon from the Carrier HMS Jefferson Davis, he thought to himself. "Let them try to push us out now. Perhaps something can really be accomplished after this."

*Hallad Haven*

As the news of the surrender came through, the Convoy that had departed Hestonia with more troops turned around and headed back to port along with the ships carrying the Sola Scriptura Division which was being quickly moved back to Hestonia. Ever since the beginning of the Haven Conflict, nearly 1,000,000 more troops had found their way into Edolia, some from their Posts in Greater Prussia and some from their Posts in Allanea and Elsewhere.

The Goldwater line in Hestonia was being strengthened all the more by the day, and nearly 600,000 more AVF troops had been brought in from Allanea proper.

The Naval power of Greater Prussia in the region was strengthening as well. The Empire was constructing a U-boat fleet back in Imperial waters that would soon be the scourge of the seas, though it was unlikely to see wide use in this conflict.

The Southern and Northern Fleets around Allanea were halved, and sent to combine with the already gigantic Edolian Grande Armada (OOC: These are the names of the Imperial Fleets, none of the ships are Allanean or Edolian).

Five Doujins were now making their way from the Empire to Haven. There had been a treaty made with Praetonia that the Doujins wouldn't sail in the Haven straits. Well, this was war, and besides, the treaty wouldn't be violated anyway. They wouldn't be in the straits unless it became absolutely necessary.

Though there had been no word from the top, a new rallying cry among Imperial troops had come into popular use, "On to Hogsweat!" It seemed to be only an echo of the now obvious. Marechal Vraisfoi of the Army of Hestonia was joined by Marechal Sancerre who took command of the huge AVF forces in the area.

When, a few days later, the news leaked that Napoleon himself was actually somewhere in Edolia, it became Crystal clear what was happening.

"Very well." From Hallad’s ravaged homeworld, dozens of Imperial ships had returned. The war was over now - and they didn’t need to be doing any more fighting - there. Now, the ships hung in orbit above Southern Hallad, providing Imperial troops with air support should anything go wrong. And the Porcupines replenished their arsenal again - just in case.

In Allanea, as it was discovered that the Halladi missiles have caused long-term structural changes to the tectonic structure of the area, an evacuation effort had begun. Spaceships moved at a freakish pace to move people from Allanea and into the new territory near Krendakov. While technically, scientists estimated Allanea had about 15 years left, nobody really was willing to risk it.
