Deep Space near the worlds of Calpe
A tear in the fabric of space appeared in the inky darkness of the deep, widening to become a vortex of blue light. A majestic vessel, a hundred meters long, emerged with a flash against the starry background of space, a deep red hull reflecting what little light there was so far from the stars. The vortex from which it had come, slowly dissipated, and the vessel began moving away, its engines at moderate power as it did so.
Over nine days (just under for its passenger) the ship coasted towards the home system of the nation of Calpe, before finally, narrowly transmitted, it sent a message, coded for the attention of the Grey Council of Calpe.
To the Grey Council of Calpe, From The Vorlon Ambassador to Calpe, Greetings,
I have been dispatched to serve as ambassador to you on behalf of the Vorlon High Command, and to advise your preparations. I will arrive at the enclosed co-ordinates to meet an Ala’shok vessel you may send in three days. It is best that you do not come yourselves, it is difficult to avoid being watched from the darkness.
