REUTERS: LONDON, LIBERTASTANIA - The President of the Democratic Republic of Libertastania gave a speech to both Houses in the Parliament today on the first day that Libertastania celebrates as a sovereign and independent nation.
President Franklin spoke of a 'great time in our lives where we look forward, not back, and where we create our history rather than simply examine it.' His speech was met by a rousing ovation by both the House of Commons and the House of Senators.
The President immiediately opened the countries' metaphorical arms to the foreign nations of the world. "We are prepared to step into the lights of the world's stage," he said in his closing paragraph. "We are prepared to brace the glare of the international spotlights and hopefully one day take a centre stage role in the limelight of friendship and freedom across the Nationstates World."
Nations interested in developing Diplomatic relations are requested to contact Minister John Paul at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Corporations interested in business opportunities in Libertastania are requested to contact Minister Sally Brought at the Ministry for Industry and Economic Development. All other enquiries are asked to be directed to the Ministry for Public Information.
