After several weeks of intense bombardment from German ships, 3 Brigades have landed outside of Tangiers. After establishing a beach head, around a dozen 155 mm cannons began to bombard the city. The army is expected to attack sometime around dawn, and then head south for the city of Marrakesh.

OOC: I have absolutely no idea what Morocco was like in 1905 other than watching Wind and the Lion a few years ago.

as war moderator, what exactly are you bombarding? There are 2 major ports... Casablanca (on the Atlantic) and Tangiers (directly across Gibralter)

Tangiers is under the protection of the Spanish, Casablanca is under no ones protection. Other important cities include Rabat (the modern day capital) and Fez (where the hat comes from). Morocco consists of modern day Morocco and what used to be known as Spanish Sahara (which the Spanish currently own by the way).

Cities surrender as soon as you start shelling pretty much, as does the government. However, the Berbers are another thing all together, and are pretty dangerous. They wiped out an entire Spanish Army in the 1920s for example.

See what I mean :p

But!

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tangiers), Tangier wasn't given to the Spanish until 1912.

So I shelled both

And landed at Tangier still.

The Berbers I will just try to avoid

The Press in the US once again rakes Germany over the coals, especially when it becomes clear that the US has had a treaty of friendship with Morocco since 1783, and that Morocco was the first nation to recognize American independence in 1777. At the American Consulate in Tangiers, the US Consul General sends out a cable home before shells destroy the cable station calling for protection for American lives and property.

However, it will take at least 2 weeks for the US Navy to get there, so Roosevelt decides to let anti German pressure build a little more domestically first.

Technically, the Spanish don't own Tangiers, however, the Spanish do have a some small possessions nearby

as war moderator, Morocco is a NPC country at the moment. Also, the French player is not available at the moment either. However, the Spanish player is available, so what does the Spanish player want to do?

IC
The Sultan asks for help from both the Spanish and French (who he was negotiating with to get a loan).

Official German Statement

The German Empire believes that the Mahometans for too long have sat in the shadow of Western Influence and therefore has taken measures to assist them to their place of power; in the hands of the Sublime Porte. Germany will hold the lands of Morocco until Turkish Troops can take control of the country. Germany will not exact anything from the Moroccan people and promises to recompensate any damages that are done to Moroccan infrastructure. Internal Government will still continue with Germany managing the Foreign affairs of the country.

in a press conference, an official of the US State Department did not seem impressed by the German statement. "The Moroccans have been independent from the Ottomans for longer than the US has been independent from Great Britain. I fail to see why the Ottomans would have any claim at all. This is just another example of European colonalism at its worst."

Ahh, you accuse the Fatherland constantly of Colonialism, though you yourself partake in it very much enthusiastically. Perhaps you are jealous? I'm sure the Filippeanos would call you the same.

Much more so, would you rather have the land divided up by the Spanish, Italians and French? I'm sure a Mohametan is more tolerable than a Frenchman.

The German Empire has begun attacking the Morroccans who for so long have been sovereign and friendly. We demand that the Germans withdraw or face a war in both Morrocco and Germany. We give you 2 weeks to comply or be dealt with accordingly.

From Chancellor Bulow
To Spanish Government

Ahh, so the Chihuahua is barking at the Rotweiler. Though Germany does not wish war with her neighbors, it sees through this thinly-veiled ploy for Spain to regain her empire. Germany has no wishes of permanent occupation, only until the Porte can send its representatives to take command. After such time, Germany will withdraw its forces, allowing Spain to keep what was hers before. Any movement of Spanish troops in Moroccan territory will be considered a declaration of war against the Porte, as well as the German Empire.

From King Alfonso XIII
To German Government

The Morroccoans have been sovereign for more than 100 years and the Porte has no claim to them as they are not even of a Turkish culture. If you do not withdraw your troops you will be attacked by our military and once Morrocco has been rid of your presence they will be given back their country.

The German Empire is unyeilding in its previously said statements. However, Germany is unwilling to move until Spain revokes her claims over any Moroccan territory.

Spain has had a presence in Morrocco for hundreds upon hundreds of years. Our claims are small in the first place only consisting of two frtresses and three islands. You on the other hand plan to annex the entire area and give them to the Porte who is not even bordering them.

"An official at the State Department who chose to keep his identity secret released the text of a German telegram today. The Germans, rude as ever, said the following (occ see text above). The official pointed out that the US has already promised the Filipinos independence and referred to the act of Congress that easily passed and went into law granting them independence in 1946. He also pointed out steps the US has taken to extend that same right to the Puerto Ricans.

On Capital Hill, learning of the German telegram, several members of Congress sternly condemned the German action in Morocco once again, and also sharply criticized the continued German presence in Venezuela."

Stand on this Issue from the Ottoman Governmet

Its is the German Government Sole idea to do this, we have not even our opinion on this matter. If they offer Morrocco to us, we must decline do the fact it is too for us to maintain and contral, we would ask a protectorate would be set under German-Ottoman run then to take over the nation and government. This is our stand on the matter.

IC: Official German Statement

In light of recent Ottoman statements, the German Empire will begin withdrawing from Morocco and moving to Syracuse. The German High Command apologizes to the Moroccan people for the Fatherland's transgressions against her people. Morocco will be recompensated two-fold and the German Empire promises to protect Morocco from any other purpertraitors who wish to exert their control over Morocco. Germany also promises economic aid to Morocco for nothing in return, save the forgiveness of her people.
