OOC: After seeing several hundred FT Rp's, various different types of FT armies, noobs who want to learn how to use FT, various creations of origonal technology, and several suggestions made to me on how to improve myself, I've finnaly got enough ideas, and questions answered which could be answered here about FT and how to use it (I haven't seen anyone create a guide for FT either).

NOTE: I'm currently away on Vacation and won't beable to actually type everything up this week. I'll be buisy with this on saturday or sunday (or both). I'll try to get some stuff typed up today.

Choosing your FT style....
There are various types of FT styles to base your Empire, Republic(whatever) on. The most common choosen are:
Star Wars, Warhammer 40,000, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Star Craft, Halo, and many others.

What many nations end up doing is basing their nation upon an already existing unverse and builds it up from there, some even mix up some of the existing universes to base their nation upon. My nation (the Galactic Empire of Huntaer) is a mix of Star Wars and 40k technology using SW and 40k for my armies and SW for my navy.

Or, if you really like a challenge, you can create your own style of FT. Creating your own type of weaponery basing off of nothing in existance, your fleet, vehicals, and technology can be very fun (and frustrating at the same time. Take my word for it) and inspiring to other nations. Creating your own technology gives yourself a name, makes you stand out upon others, and therefore makes you even more origonal.

Or perhapse you'd like an already existing peice of technology from one of the popular universes and recreate them to your likeing? Many nations have done this. Upgrading old Federation vessiles (ST) or recreating SD designs(SW). More of this will be explained in the "Creating your own technology...." section.

(will be updated later)

I.e. raping canon. What's so great (Or impressive, or sane, or even vaguely respectable) about it? I fail to see it.

Determining the size of your FT nationAs a random thought: The population on your nation page, combined with population densities based on feasible RL statistics, recognising necessary industrialisation? Oh, or alternatively, being a silly and badly-written science-fiction show for just about every reasonable NS player.

How big is your actual population? If your next edit involves the godforsaken and utterly ludicrous 'I can't have an interstellar/ galactic empire with just a few billion people, so I've more!!!11' argument in any way or form, may I suggest professional help? Psychological help I mean, as everyone going down that path is obviously having some serious compensation issues.

Creating your own technology, or basing it off of something already madeThe simple choice between being creative or pulling a bad ripoff and overall canonrape?

A blank space. Guides are pointless, generally showing off the personal, and highly biased view of its creator(s), and are essentially incapable of achiving anything except gutting the free-form environment in NS. Yes, all of them. No exceptions.
