A tall, slender, and distinguished woman slowly approached a stone podium, as several dozen reporters from newspapers, internet news-sites, and television stations were assembled. Excitement surged throughout the crowd as each person present knew deep inside that something vital always occurs whenever the woman gives her speech at the podium.

People began murmuring quietly amongst themselves, asking subdued questions and adding their own speculation on what the situation requiring such an announcement would be like. Each time these conference calls or national announcements, history is created or altered as the Sharina Technocracy makes its destiny in an universe of never-ending chaos.

The woman finally arrives at the podium, and then she took a hammer and began pounding on a small anvil in front of her, just to the right of her podium. The entire audience abruptly became quiet, as if a switch was thrown and all sound was simply turned off. The beautiful, yet determined woman began speaking in a gentle, yet firm voice.

"Greetings and saluations, all.

I'm President Mina Veristek, the wife of President Rand Veristek, who just suffered an assassination attempt upon him. I am not at a liberty to discuss his condition until additional security can be implemented.

I am here to personally announce a major development.

Sharina has discovered a new continent, which is apparently called Manium from radio transmissions originating on the main continent. Sharina has explored a large island to the south of the main continent where no radio transmissions are being detected. I have already ordered colonization of that island, as that island would be a strategic spot to launch exploration of the mainland Manium Continent.

Towards this end, several million Sharinan colonists, along with supplies and material, has already departed for the Manium island. It shall be known henceforth as Jade Island. With this new acquistion, Sharinan influence has increased in the world. Our people are destined for greatness, as our nation grows in power, and most importantly, prestige.

Thank you and live well."

President Mina Veristek walked off the stage amid thunderous cheers and applause. A new era in Sharinan policy has begun. The colonization of non-continuous landmasses.

A warm breeze wafted over a seemingly endless mass of rolling water. Suddenly, the tranquility was shattered as an a dark metallic object pierced the surface of the ocean. The smooth and rounded object grew larger and larger, and it appeared to have no end. After an indeterminate period of time passed, the other edge of the metallic vessel became visible. Symbols could be seen on the metallic surface, cold and logical in its arrangement. The symbols read "SNV Kalos", identifying itself as a Sharina naval vessel to any knowledgable observer.

Chatter is heard throughout the enormous vessel as thousands of intelligent souls held conversations, thought out loud, or were involved with oversized machinery onboard. In the highest point of the vessel, several people could be seen conversing beyond the massive windows.

A medium built man, ordinary in every aspect, looked up from a console with flashing and moving symbols. He began speaking in an excited tone.

"Radar and LIDAR has detected a substantial landmass to our north. It is estimated to be several dozen kilometers away, and it appears to be quite fertile. The landmass is recongized as Jade Island that had just been recently discovered. From initial scans, it appears the land is of a considerable size. The land seems to extend for hundreds of kilometers northwards, eastwards, and westwards. Colonization of Jade Island could present an incredible opporunity for Sharinan expansion, resources, and growing room."

A tall man in a jade green uniform with golden trimmings nodded at the ordinary looking man, and smiled.

"Excellent, Sensor Officer Keviric Taza'nala. Establish landfall protocols and I shall inform the President immediately."

Several months later:

A large sandy beach was a bustle of activity, as thousands of men were scampering around it, carrying hundreds of different objects and tools. Several large structures are seen throughout the beach, in varying stages of construction. Gargunatan construction vehicles and machinery cast long shadows over the rapid activity on the beachside. Roars are heard as the huge multi-story tall bulldozers level hundreds of tons of sand, rock, and soil in a single swipe, while 500 ton diggers make rapid progress through the nearby forests. Cranes easily 300 feet tall handled multi-ton steel beams like a bird's feathers amid growing scaffolding throughout the busy landscape.

One scaffold structure stood taller and wider than the rest, and extended several hundred meters into the ocean. Symbols were written across the structure, and the universal black, white, and red Sharina national symbol is emblazoned across the structure. The language revealed the structure to be Sharina's very first dock on Jade Island.

The colonization of Jade Island was well underway.

One of today's stories is the remarkable progress in Sharina's new colony in the Manium region. The island the colony is based in is called Jade Island.

During the last decade, Sharinan explorers, pioneers, settlers, colonists, and the like have continued to expand Sharinan colonial territory along Jade Island's eastern, northern, and western shores. This momentual effort continues amid rising international tensions regarding the Automagfreek - Praetonian War. The war has spread to Manium, with the hostilities between Pantera and Sarzonia over the Sarzonian colony of Branwyn. However, these events are not expected to interfere or hinder any Sharinan interests and progress in Manium, as Sharina has professed its legendary neutrality status to all parties involved.

The colony is growing exponetially, as at the last Sharinan census, it was reported that nearly 50 million Sharinans were currently living in Sharina-held territory in Jade Island. Several large towns have sprouted like weedlings, with continued explosive growth in the future. Plans are underway for rail networks, dozens of harbors and docks, large airfields, and sizable port facilities. Once these projects are completed, the expansion and development of Jade Island will be guanatreed.
