Mondoth Invites all nations to the unveiling of its Next Generation Navy

Broadcast to all nations of the world:

The Shipyards at Wuther and Farthing (a branch of The Nine Military Storefront) Is about to unveil the Next Generation of Naval Warfare! do you remember the first time you saw or even heard of the colosal super dreadnaught class of ships? how Nation Statesian naval warfare was advanced and complicated by the addition of one ship all those years ago? While those ships still look impressive in real life and on order of battle charts and intelligence reports, the SUperDreadnaught class is soon to be obsolete. As powerful and deadly as the SuperDreadnaughts are, they suffer many drawbacks that leave the seas wide open for a new type of warship.
1. Price: its simple, who has a fw hundred billion to several trillion USD to shell out for a single ship that, as powerful as it is will only seldom see use in anything buts a show of force ad only then when its surrounded by a fleet that costs more than the ship itself?
2. Size: Face it, you can put all the point defense and anti missile systems you want on and around it but a superdreadnaught is still a awfully hard target to miss, even from orbit. you can rail all day long about the invincibility of your ship due to its surrounding fleet but if you're enemy launches enough missiles he's bound to hit something and that something might be vital, what use is a 300 billion dollar ship if its gun tubes are bent, or the turret electronics are scrambled by an emp or the radar is destroyed, or the bridge? and with modern explosives a single hit could go a long way towards one of those results and all the armor in you can safely put on a ship will do little to save you against a good bunker buster munition to the engine compartment.
3. Speed: Face it, your 300 billion dollar super ship is going nowhere fast no matter what condition its in. 30 or so knots is pretty much the maximum and its surrounding fleet wil have to stay back with it. that means that opponents any reasonable distance from you have anywhere from weeks to months to prepare one of the modern militaries many superdreadnaught killing traps, from minefields to sea floor weapons platforms there are many things that can be set up in a superdreadnaughts rather predictable plodding course that will leave it decidedly un-combat worthy.
4. Logistics: A Superdreadnaught has a crew compliment of something like a large phonebook and that means that everyday, thousands and thousands of sailors need to eat, recieve their mail, exercise, sleep, drink and many other things, superdrednaughts that will be on deployment for any length of time (and at the speed its moving it will HAVE to be for a length of time just to get there) there will be supply ships, and those supply ships are vulnerable, even if your dreadnaught has all the supplies it needs the fleet surounding it probably won't, everything from food to diesel fuel and spare parts will need to be shipped to your ships and those shipments are vulnerable.
and finally
5. Purpose: SUperdreadnaughts are built to do anything from force projection (via usually mulipe flight decks) to gun support (via 20+ in. guns) and even amphibious assault (via its own troop and landing craft compliment) the trouble is that it is surrounded by a fleet that effectively encompasses its entire combat enevelope, a super dreadnaught and it's accompanying fleet is redundant in the extreme and redundancy in this case comes to the tune of around 300 billion dollars that could be spent elsewhere just as effectively.

At this point you might be wandering where all this is leading? Perhaps a new type of ship? A supderdreadnaught hunter? a Submarine? One of the traps that was mentoned before?

No, This is leading to the single most innovative new idea in naval warfare since before the superdreadbaught itself. its not one ship, or even four or five or a hundred, its an infinite number of ships, each unique or common as rain, ships that fulfil the exact needs of your navy at any given moment, ships that are affordable, versatile and durable, sleek ships as deadly in their own right as dreadnaughts or as tame as a simple fleet supply ship. The Next Generation of the Fleet is coming and you are invited.

All nations are invited to send a small represenative contingent (not more than five prersons) to a gala to unveil the newest additions to Wuther and Farthing's not inconsiderable lineup of naval equipment. Transportation will be provided by Mondoth Air in first class or embassy class. at the gala food and entertainment will be provided followed by a presentation on the next generation navy followed by a question and answer session. and then transportation back to your nation.

I would like to see this new weapon. Although I oppose the use of such a weapon, I cannot in good conscience ignore such a claim. I would like to send a delegation to the unveiling of said ship. It will consist of a naval engineer and Bishop Sam Creedance and Sister Mary Angelise. May the earth-mother smile upon all of her children.

Ninhursag: Would you like first or embassy class?

Atun Cavum: Unfortunately, due to security and logistics concerns (putting up a bunch of foreign reps in the hight of style is not exactly cheap or easy) we can only extend our offer to five representatives, the other five will be welcome providing they pay their own expenses. we appologize for the inconvenience.

Whichever is more conveinent for yourself. All we ask is a quite room for meditation and prayer. Thank you, again, for the invitation. Earth-mother's blessing to all.

we thank you for your understanding. The Unveiling is about to be Announced! In preparation for this event a small press release has been published with more exact infomration on the new equipment. To presere the 'surprise' several key elements of the project have been left out that will be included in the unveiling.

Press release:

The Family of Modular Combat Vessels (FMCV) is a totally unique way of building and fielding naval units, comprised of four main classes; Mercury (Corvette), Hermes (Destroyer), Quicksilver (Cruiser) and Mithril (Dreadnought) Each ‘class’ consists of two parts, a Superstructure and outrigger module and a hull. Within a class hulls and superstructures are fully interchangeable and can be switched easily in calm seas with the support of a suitable fleet support vessel. The Superstructures and hulls come in a variety of roles such as ‘aircraft carrier’, ‘Guided Missile Platform’, ‘Assault ship’ and ‘Gunship’. Both units feature a high level of automation and redundancy to both reduce crew size and increase survivability. The FMCV utilizes welded composite construction for durability, low cost, and reduced build times meaning that your fleet can be built faster and cheaper than previously possible! the battlefield customizability of the MFCV means that with little preparation your navy is ready to face any threat, from the standard fits (Arsenal ship, aircraft carrier, battleship) to oddball new ship designations (heavy gun supported assault ship) Taking advantage of recent advancements in stealth the FMCV features a record low radar cross signature and visual profile. These ships are fully customizable, even outside of the Hull/Superstructure combinations, modular armor system means that your modular combat vessel can have whatever armor scheme you choose up to full modernized battleship armor with ERA! Modular weapons systems means that if you believe your VLS units or naval gun systems are superior or you just want a different balance of size and numbers, you can change any weapon system out easily, eliminating logistics strain from supplying multiple ammo types to front line ships, modular electronics means that your MCV can easily support whatever communications/network you use in the rest of your fleet practically negating compatibility issues!

From: The office of the Grand Duke, Van Luxemburg

I would like to attend this unveiling, I'm at this moment busy with the creation of the Royal Van Luxemburg Imperial Troops, which will become our main offensive unit. therefore, we might need highly flexible and mobile Naval Platforms. I would like to attend this with 4 men of the Military Staff, however, since the world is full of terrorism and attempts to murder, we would also like to enquire the status of your security. we will be travelling on Embassy class, by the way.

Flights and accomadations are booked for Flightopia.

Van Luxembourg: While the world is a dangerous place, we hope that our efforts have made Mondoth one of the few natios where terrorism is no longer feared, having gained experience and Notoriety in the Naveira rebellion (One day soon I'll write a history thread because I have this whole backstory in my head and I keep reffereing to it but forget to write it down.) Our conter terror and security personnel are some of the best trained and equiped in the region. in addition we have security arrangements and intelligence assets in place with several terrorist organizations that operate in the area. All of these elements make Mondoth one of the safest places to visit.

Best whishes,
