My collegues, I would like to take this opportunity to state my nation's continued support of your country. The Portuguese have been our allies for many years and have fought alongside the British since the Napoleonic Wars. I ask that you remember our long history of cooperation and take this opportunity to join a formal alliance with my country. This would guarantee peace between us and increased trade concessions would result. I hope that you will consider this offer and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Portuguese Colonial governments worry about lack of True portuguese populations

The colonial Governments in portugals African and Indian possessions today have expressed worry to the Cental government in Lisbon today over the lack of Major Portuguese Influence in her own territorys aswell as Infrastructure to Resource Areas... especially in mozambique and Angola..

This could Undermine Portugals general Influence in Africa and may lead to the Overthrow of the colonial governments by either foreign or internal Subversive groups...

This is to have reportld got King Charles utmost attention. Inwhich he is due to make a Imperial speech on the problem tommorow...

Portuguese King announce radical changes to empire!!!!

King Charles in a daring move today has announced publicly that All colonies of portugal shall be elevated to equal status to portugal proper and will be assimilated into one nation. the portuguese coloniesnow have the status of overseas provinces.

King Charles has also announced a mass immigration programme to the colonies and encourages foreign Internationals especially from portuguese speaking Brazil to immigrate to the colonies and portugal proper. This is what the King stated "to revitilise Greater portugals population and economic growth". The whole empire has been renamed Greater Portugal.

This has caused great contraversy amoungst portugals Elite class who have reservations about having equal status with black angolans and Mozambiqueans. and have been calling the king a traitor. some advocated for the Kings abdication. Riots occuring in Lisbon and oporto. both being brutally chrushed by the Kings forces within hours....

However the Poorer classes and Middle classes of Portugal are more enlightened to the Kings reforms and have shown conspicious animosity towards the elite classes reservations about the "Union of Empire" bill.

The King stands by his reforms dismissing claims by his critcs that brazil was lost the same way by his predeccesors so called "reforms" by letting the colony get too much power and influence....

A national senate is underway in central Lisbon which will hold representatives from all the former colonys

Spain and Italy have begun negotiations concerning the creation of a Mediterranean League. This League would be an alliance of Spain, Italy, Portugal, and France. This is of course depending on negotiations; currently, Spain and Italy are going to enter talks within a week to hammer out the details of this alliance. Portugal, too, is invited to the conference at Valencia (OOC: see http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=436804 ) where we hope the future of our great nations will be reforged into a bright one.

To: Greater Portugal

We, the German people, welcome such reforms in the new Greater Portugal. Concerning our previous purchase of several of your islands, we also wish to extend a trade alliance, as well as a pact of neutrality. Germany also knows of your previous friendships with Britain, and hopes that such curtiousies can be extended to the German friends.

Recently, we have noticed our mutual neighbors joining together. We know not what they are up to, but to some of our Prussian elders, it reminds them of the days of the tyrant Napoleon. We believe that such a vile man deserved what he got, and we hope the vile French do not have the foolishness to join another such venture. Should such a horrible thing occur, we would be more than willing to extend the Grand Alliance of old, perhaps joining Austria and Russia, as well as Britian.

Sincerely,
Chancellor Prince von Bulow.

My Portuguese friends,
The terms of our alliance would concentrate on economical and military terms. We expect a mutual defence alliance to be included as well as reduced tariffs on goods moving between Britain and Portugal. We would be grateful if the Portuguese could draw up the alliance and then I will sign it as soon as it is complete.

OOC: I am away for about a week so I would be grateful if you could type up the exact terms for me and i'll sign it when i get back.

We will draw up the alliance shortly. we hope this will bring in a new era of prosperity for our two great nations....

To Germany....

We wish to remain on friendly terms with your nation as it is very Influential. we remain slighly cautious about entanling ourselves in a Myriad of alliances that will perhaps compromise our great nation.... we will attend the valencia conference with no promises of signing or not signing...

[SIZE=3]Portugals crisis!!!! Joao Francos ultimatum to the King...
10 June 1905
Due to the reforms of King Carlos. Portugal now has a predominantly black population.. The elite class is in dissarray and portugal is facing financial ruin thanks to years of Incompetancy and Economic mismanagement on Portugals behalf...

King Carlos whilst Intelligent was very extravagant and frequently embezzled government funds frequently and his days of Debauchy astounded even Portugals aristocracy. Turning point. Alternative history... R.L. Joao Franco did not ascend to power until 1907 and to my knowledge perceived the Monarchy was safe

Joao Franco a Prominent politician sent an ultimatum to King Carlos warning him of assanination by the republicans. King Carlos reluctantly accepted the ultimatum inwhich Joao Franco became Prime minister with considerable powers. Thus ending The Braganzas absolute rule in portugal

King carlos became more reclusive and joao franco and the Kings heir Luis Filipe shared the Limelight to the growing discontent of the Republican movement....

within days Joao franco put the Monarchy into Obdience but promised to Upkeep King Carloses Idea on a Greater portugal Incorporating all territories of the Empire... and began stablising the national economy with Investments in Mozambique and Angola other than slavery (which Joao abolished)

"To my esteemed fellow nations in Europe and the americas and Elsewhere. Please do not be alarmed about recent turns of events. The Portuguese Mornachy is safe and i intend to keep it that way..."

"Carlos the 1st our King was a extravagant man.... thanks to him and literally decades of financial mismanagement and cruelty to our Imperial citizens we have become an International Laughing stock"

" but no more.. we have Incorporated all colonial possessions into a United states of Portugal if you will... we have finally abolished slavery and have giving full equal rights to the Indigenous peoples of Portuguese East africa, Timor, Goa and Cape Verde islands"

" however due to the end of slavery we have a severe shortage of workers in our reborn nation and Implore nations to Invest in Greater Portugal.. It will be worthwhile I promise... The resource potential in Angola is huge.. with Gold and Oil deposits our teams have found..

"we are in desperate need to Increase our population and offer incentives to foreign nationals from nations who learn/ know fluent portuguese to Mother portugal and the African states...

" Thank you for your time.."

Joao franco

Prime minister of Greater Portugal

ANTI AUSTRALIAN RESENTMENT IN TIMOR

The portuguese provinsional administer general in Timor has denounced Australias threats of overunning East Timor.

" this is a assault on all of Greater portugal, and all her citizens from the barbaric former convicts" " they will try and overtrow centuries of fine portuguese culture for a culture that is younger than Portuguese influence in Timor itself and is defined by convicts and other undisreables.."

The administer general was vehemant when he stated this on the ornate Patio above the Governors residence in the capital dili. " Prime minister Franco has sent troops from Goa and Mozambique to reinforce Portugals only foothold in the East Indies.....

his speech was met with great applause by the general public.....

To Whom It May Concern,

The Union of South Africa would like to establish a consulate in Mozambique. It is important for the nations occupying the strategic region of southern Africa to have a friendly relationship. We hope that this will allow the Union and Greater Portugal to work together, for the mutual benefit of our nations.

The Portugese nation is of course invited to send an embassy (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=435350) to Pretoria, if they so wish.

Respectfully,
Martin Oduber

Brazil's new government has not yet had time to speak with Portugal but would like to point out that Portugal is held in the highest regard by our government and people. Yes, we are socialist, but we need to expand our industry. We would like to ask you for an aid package to help us construct an industrial region in Matto Grosso in our country. We will supply half of the capital from our newly modernised agriculture (thanks to equipment sent from Russia) and if you aid us with the startup capital for the industrial region then we can guarantee Portugal supplies of grain, coffee and tobacco for ten years at reduced rates. We are asking for $50 million dollars US and engineers to help with the construction of the factories that will eventually include steelworks, ammunition factories and coal mines.

Deepest Regards.
Politburo and Parliament of Brazil.
