You realize that silencing a 5.7mm pistol totally negates the effect the cartridge has on its target.

A 5.7mm round has to travel at extremely high velocities to what its intended for, namely, punching through body armor. Silencers slow the bullet down, and thus, the bullet losses the only characteristic that makes it worth using.

We do realize this fact, but we have created a special silencer that will keep the velocity relativly the same, but keeps it quiet. It utilizes a special chemical coating on the inside of the silencer that will keep velocity the same, but under 19 decibles.

Did I say 1 Decible, I meant 19 Decibles. Sorry for the mix up.

No, you did not say 1, you said 19 the first time.

I don’t normally bother with the minor details....

but, this time...I've researched the 5.7 extensively, and, there is no known way, even concept, that I’ve come across to silence a 5.7mm pistol, and maintain the velocity. If there were, it would have been done by now. That’s why you rarely, if ever see a silenced FN P90, or FN FiveseveN

[This pisses me off mightily. Let him have his silenced pistol! Is it going to uberly ruin everything? Is one inaccuracy going to fuck up the order of the universe? No, unless you have some serious issues. It really doesn't matter. Not to mention the fact this isn't real life.]

So? It's just slightly quieter than inaudible. Transnapastain, I agree Ankhmet. Let him have his gun. If your nation hasn't yet invented a silenced 5.7 pistol, then buy it from him.

Trust me, I don’t think NS is real life.

I don’t have any stats, figures or numbers for anything within my military, its not about the numbers, its not about winning or losing, its about telling the story.

I quick note. Its not about inventing the gun, its about the fact that it is, in all known reality, impossible. That being said…

I didn’t say “You n00b, you are teh dumb, you cant do that, blah!” I pointed out a flaw in his system. While this is not real life, it is based on the physics, principals and other aspects of reality. Of course this isn’t real, but, for some people, they wish to make it as real as possible, and if that means having things that are accurate to that of our reality, then that’s on them. Some people, who seek to create a good weapon or idea, like having feedback given to them, when they don’t have the time or patience to research what it is they are constructing, I myself, am included in that category. The information volunteered here was simple trivia I happen to come across, and followed up on.

As another side note. If he/she (don’t want to offend anyone) can show some work, story RP work, into creating a way (doesn’t matter if it is based in our reality, or not, since, lets not forget, this isn’t real life) and follow it up, then, that’s what RP is all about people, telling the story. But just tossing out buzzwords like “special chemical” aren’t going to cut it. If you know your logical fallacies, “buzzwords” and “jargon” are included.

I also didn’t say (s)he was a godmoder, or threaten to ignore if (s)he doesn’t “fix the problem". Most likely, I’ll never interact with this nation again. This isn’t likely to kill a story like some of the other wankery that goes on here on II, in fact, this doesn’t qualify as wank at all, a simple contradiction in possibilities, a contradiction I simply pointed out, in order to improve upon the design, if the creator so chooses.

So, then, was it really worth it, to get all upset over a simple bit of advice? No one attacked the author here, only offered advice. If you want to find the techno-nazis here on International Incidents…. look again, I can provide names if you like, because, you wont be finding them here…. the only thing you’re going to find here are people who were just trying to help…

Thank You all for either defending me, or pointing out my flaws. As it stands, I am not able to come up with the name of the chemical that will actually silence a high-velocity round, without comprimising the velocity. If someone can do so, be my guest. Once again, thanks for your input. I will tweak the 'front in order to accomidate those who are more on the RL side.

you should shut up before you get sued for copyright infringement

if it's inaudible, why do they always know when i've shot the guy on the other side of the pitch black room?

1. They can't sue me for "Copyright Infringment", for I have not used their "Product" in any unlawful way, shape, or form. Even FN USA can't sue me, because using either the SC-20K, or the FN-2000 in a role-playing game is not infringment.

2. ...Because you don't know how to play Splinter Cell. I suggest you hide the body, and see if anyone is around first.

Have a nice day. :)

(ooc: yeah but if you shot someone in the head and no one saw him fall, people elsewhere, like inside a building for example would hear the gunshot but not see the guy get a hole in his head, but with a silencer he dies and no one knows until they find the body)

IC:
The Darvainian military has sent in an order request form for 1000 assault rifle, and 300 pistols for our police force, personal bodyguard teams, and...other people classified at this time... -so 300 pistols, 1000 rifles got it?-
