...But don’t worry, I'll still do MT as well. But I'd like to broaden my horizons a little bit, as I have a few FT allies with which RPing is a bit...difficult. Now I'm going to be working on my FT fact book for awhile, but all the same I would like to know this one thing:

Do other FT nations out there us your NS populations, are planet sized ones(6 and up billion, or what?)

That should help me out a bit with making my ship designs and what not.

Well Welcome to the FT fold. And I actualy rp my acutal nation size as the equivilent to the population on my main nation page (I just end up dividing a billion civs per solar system [4 of em] I operate in). And ship building you should see what you can come up with first then let the pros help you correct little errors so you have a good formula to follow for later use.
And if you need some help (a kick in the ass) in the right direction I'll gladly help you.

Well some stick to their NS pop but alot of FT nations dont. The NS Pop was designed for MT. Not to say dose who use it or wroung or anything. Most use a incressed so they can have a few systems or sectors. And some have large empires. It depends on the rp and who your rping with. The Gaians use a large pop and terrtory. So do i unless rping with those who dont reconize it. But i useley avoid those rps. So their is no real wroung way to do it.

OoC: welcomed to the land of the FT! me, personally i use my NS pop. i occupy several large continents on a small planet. i dont know if that helps you though, because the only thing really FT about my nation is the Space Navy and a few combat weapons.

I RP with my NS population. But my people do own the planet, I just never divulge the planetary population. I stick to my one nation and just let people use their imaginations. Welcome to FT.

Mmkay. Firstly, use your NS pop. People may argue that FT would have a much bigger pop, but, look at first-world countries today. The population growth is levelling off, or becoming insufficient to deal with the population death. In FT, with much more work done by machinery and the like, it is doubtful people would want to overcrowd their planets. Many people ignore people who just pick a random population, but I don't think anyone's ever been ignored for Rping with their NS pop.

With ship designs, I don't think it really matters. If you're RPing as humans, keep in mind that ships probably wouldn't be designed for maximum efficiency and cheapness, but more for comfort, as to keep troop morale up. (I know this may sound a little condescending, but the amount of FT RPers that simply pull stuff out of their [censored], gets really annoying.)

Other than that, go wild! Oh, and never declare war on me, always help me, give me first trading privileges, and...errr.... Squirrels will bless your nation!

Welcome to FT, I use my NS pop, but then I operate out of a worldship. As to ship design, I'm all for aiding you.

Coolness, another nation I can have a first contact thread with. =^^= And like NZ said, I rp with a nation that has made a HUGE number of NPC alliances spread over hundreds of galaxies, all to help set up grandiouse rp threads such as the Dark Eternal War and such.

But then I am used to rping in the grandest scale imaginable, but everyone notes my small scale rps as well, so I go both ways. =^^=

Can't wait to see ya start an FT thread for moi to pop into with my typical exploration fleets and such. =^^=

Oh one little trick I use to help keep my population with my NS pop yet rule two star systems and have many collonies. The worlds I take over only have a small number of the best and brightest aloud to become my citizens so the rest are unoffical citizens and there for not counted because they have only the most basic rights.
