New self-destruct system developed for bases

Basically, this system uses the concept of "If we can't have it, neither can you!" It's a self-destruct system that's currently being constructed under all Axis Nova bases in other countries as well as several other facilities we don't feel like discussing at the moment.

How it works

The Cyclops System consists of a huge array of dish-shaped microwave emitters, whose radiation destroys all living things within the system's effective radius. Once activated, the Cyclops System rapidly heats the water that makes up about 60% of the human body, as well as the propellant and ammunition supplies of mobile suits. Ultimately the intense heat radiations will destroy even buildings and the array itself along with anything else in the area of effect-- leaving nothing but a scorched hole.

There is one downside-- once activated, the system takes a few minutes to reach it's full power and maximum area of effect. However, once it IS activated fully, destruction is more or less total.

Bonstocknian Department of Defense Statement:

"So, if someone like, say, a Bonstocknian saboteur were to go in an activate this system, then every important military base in Axis Nova would be destroyed, by the simple press of a button?"

There's a separate Cyclops System at each base-- they arn't all hooked together, that'd be stupid. Also, the system activation is keyed to biometric data-- you'd need to be the senior officer at that base in order to activate it.

"But still, if a commando went in, knocked out a senior officer, took him to the activations and had him activate the biometric data, we could destroy a base, right? No risky bombing raids, no land attacks, just a few good commandos and some fancy operating?"

But what if the senior officer's body is destroyed beyond use?

To answer these concerns in order

1) Security systems and the excellent training of our security personnel in general conspire to make this extremely unlikely.

2) If the most senior officer is dead, then there will be another one-- and so on and so forth. There's always another person in the chain of command-- and the main computer system will detect the death with it's internal sensors and automatically let the next guy in the chain of command know.
