Statute of Interstellar Law. (ATTN all FT Nations).

OOC: This is the good version of a thread I just attempted to start, and messed up.

Am I alone in thinking that the FT nations should have some basis of Interstellar law to follow. The thought came to me, when I was posting in one of my threads, claiming something was against Interstellar law, when I really don't know. We have no basis of Law.
I think that it would be a good idea, because it can be used to seperate the bad nations from the good, stop unrealistic circumstances, give good reasons for war (the breaking of certain rules) and stop new RP'ers going too over the top.
Of course I, an impertananent fairly new RP'er wouldn't dream of coming up with laws to try and get the rest of you to follow. That is why I have started this thread. I think that somebody that is good at Rping and has experience, for example, the Gaian's or the Huntarians, should have a go at making a short list of laws that FT nations should loosely abide by (or not as you see fit). Just a suggestion. Let me know what those FT RP'ers think.

I think there should be a Meeting of all FT Nations to make a Code of Interstellar Law that all FT Nations can follow

I sense this shall have a similar end to the Temporal Accord.

Hmm, well that sounds bad. What happened to it?

well, theres no way you can make "intersteller laws" since each nation is its own, they form alliance with there rules but other then that whos going to enforce the "intersteller laws".

The idea ya sounds good but in practise its not, simply it would just be another alliance nothing more. Since the only way you can brake a law is by signing the treaty that states its a law then for exsample someone who dont sign the IS laws charter could not be told they broke it since they dont follow it...if you know what i mean.

It just sounds like another FT alliance. My alliance has it's own code of laws and courts and stuff, and I'm sure all the other alliances do to. But the thought of making it mandatory to have everyone follow some rules isn't a good idea.

Plus it wouldn't work because there are hundreds of new nations that sign up all the time and I doubt they would follow them; not to mention all the senior RPers wouldn't follow them probably.

Let's just keep it to every nation or alliance has it's own laws, and there is no interstellar law that everyone has to follow.

Well, what about if it only took effect in neutral territory. I think that would work, I have seen declarations of war simply because a probe from another nation was found and someone didn't like it. If we could have a set of guidelines for things of that nature, then I'm sure it will fly.

Now, regarding the 'who's going to enforce this' issue, I suppose we could do something like... make up "intersteller police". We will have to discuss this more.

still wont work, the whole idea is still just an alliance meaning only the people who sign the Laws can be "enforced" by the Intersteller Police doing so on someone who does not sign the laws would see it as an act of agression and well respond.

No military presence is allowed within the Triune Systems besides that of Tannenmille and a very small number of the choicest allies, so if this "Interstellar Police" decided to waltz into the Sucellan Governance they would be crushed as it's a breach of our sovereign territory.

Well, like I said, I just put it foward as a suggestion. So there we go! No to Interstellar law.

Well... maybe we could make OOC interstellar laws. Like no massive fleet movements during a FT intro thread.

- Interstellar Law? Pah, we laugh at such follies. How would our piracy industry stay afloat?

Yes, can't you think of the pirates? Won't somebody please think of the pirates!?!?!?!

- Sharda Hideyoshi, current leader of the Blood Dragons

Did anyone see a pirate come through here?

- Sam Hardfist, Military Police

OOC: Like people said, even if we got all the future tech nations together and tried to make laws no one would agree and we would come out with nothing. The only way it would work is through alliances, and those just make things even worse in some cases.

Hah good luck with that. Besides I basicly comit ten major crimes a day in my little empire. It's to much fun to "passify" the problem with missiles than to use words.

OOC: I don't really like the idea. It could really hurt the thriving piracy industry. And considering pirates pay 35% tax, we do make money off it. Hell, that's where our fleet used to chase down the pirates comes from!

Hey, I like crazed massacre as much as the next lunatic. I just like the word, 'Interstellar'. Kind of has a ring to it. Anyway, just let this thread die and slow death. It will sink to the depths and never be seen again.
