Hello there my dear mods,

I was wondering, how do I start a new Role Play for like International Incidents? Can I just like post "A New Role Play regarding such and such" there? Which forum should I post it in also? Just want to be on the up and up here!

Thanks,
Maharlikana

You don't need a mod to start a new RP. (I'm not one, just a player.)

You go back to the Forum Display and click on the Thread Tools button, then select Start a New Thread.

You shouldn't start an RP in Gameplay, though I guess you could RP a recruiting drive for a region.

International Incidents tends to be for more technically detailed RPs where the players pay attention to the actual size of a nation, its economy, its technology and its army. Step outside your nation's visible capabilities and someone will call you on it (which could be a creative stimulus). The tone is more hard science, realistic. Plots and politics, wars and rumours of wars, natural events.

NationStates tends to be for the more character-driven RPs, with nations happily ignoring anything they dislike about their stats. Clash of cultures, coming of age, quests, weird talents, self-discovery, fantasy creatures. Think of the differences between fantasy, science fantasy and science fiction.

That said, there's no reason an II tale can't be character-driven, or an NS one use technology accurately, or either have a decent plot. The best ones blend all talents and do the unexpected.

Well, if you want to start a RP, first decide type you want. *look at the listed above by Ardchoille* Then just go to that forum, and post the title of it or something like that. example: MT: The thorny bush

Obviously dont use that name as it sounds terrible. But anyway.

You could add "sign up" to the title, or "MT: The thorny bush (ooc)" or something along those lines. Its up to you, just try to state the tech level, and give a basic idea of what the plot would/could be.

I should have explained that better.

II is where you play as your nation or in your nation or with other nations. So you might be RPing, say, the effects a UN decision has had on your nation, or trading, or building an international cartel to corner the featherless chicken market, despite the attempts of other nations to stop you.

In NS, you might play a character who comes from your nation, but you don't have to, and it's not usually relevant.

If someone in NS wants a person to play a talking donkey, and you think you're the world's greatest talking-donkey writer ever, you sign up, regardless of whether there are any talking donkeys in your nation.

As this is a discussion of roleplay, iMove http://assets.jolt.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon2.gif "International Incidents".

As I recall, it is acceptable (and preferred) to have an OOC thread in the roleplay boards (rather than elsewhere) if you need to have an OOC discussion about roleplay.
