Amerigo

The Glorious Socialistic Empire of Amerigo sends forth the following public message.
"Amerigo, a land of contrast, is an archaic nation of yesteryear and now it is reopening its doors to the international community. You might be asking yourself 'Whatever happened to Amerigo?' or 'What's an Amerigo and why should I care?' To answer both questions, a bit of history...
Amerigo was founded in rebellion and violance, as the natives of Danger Island seceeded from New Zealand and forged the government of Amerigo. Led by a militaristic dictator, this now beautiful land was a breeding ground of atrocities--of which the most consequential turned out to be slavery. When the first dictator stabalized the anarchistic 'People's Republic', he decided to open Amerigo's booming slave trade to the world. This was, indeed, a grave mistake as vigilant nations blockaded Amerigo and demanded the immediate abolition of slavery. After numerous diplomatic negotiations that affected and included most of this world's nations, the inevitable occured--war. As the forces of Iesus Christi stormed Danger Island's beaches, the government completely disappeared and the people of Amerigo were left to defend their homeland from the invaders. Amerigan fervent nationalism was first seen as a powerful force. Grueling guerrila battles inflicted massive casualties on both sides, until a new Amerigan government formed and negotiated for peace. All occupying forces were withdrawn and in return the new government abolished slavery. Riding the wave of progressive reform and ideals of complete equality, communism was instituted and Amerigo had a dictator once again. However, the invasion of the zealous crusaders had instilled a sense of religion in the citizens of Amerigo and despite government efforts to suppress it Catholicism grew in record numbers, until the government was forced to give way and accept the very unusual mix of religion and communism into its policies. Then Amerigo disappeared from the political world and developed internally to become the massive developed nation it is today. The Amerigan government had its shares of police actions and Amerigo expanded its borders to nearby islands (eventually joining the Sardukar Confederacy), but little of international interest occured.
So what happened? Well, Amerigo experienced many reforms to become the kinder gentler Amerigo it is today. Democracy was restored and communistic policies became warped into the complicated, unique political system it is today.
Amerigo is about rugged individualism and community spirit. We believe that the government is there only to keep order, protect its citizens, and encourage businesses by generous subsides in order to bring prosperity and wealth to everybody. After all wealth trickles down! That said, our government does not sponsor any religion, but our people in local communities educate and sponsor the 'Amerigan Faith'. We were all very proud when UN polls found Amerigo to be the 7th most religious nation in the world.
So what does all this have to do with you? That is the big question after all. Well recently a large, influential group of concerned citizens issued their wishes to educate the world about the 'Amerigan Faith'. The Amerigan government of course bowed to public wishes and for the first time in almost forever, opened its borders and allows them to leave the Empire to preach their faith. However, since most diplomatic relations were terminated with all other nations outside the Sardukar Confederacy, Amerigo kindly implores all governments to establish connections with Amerigo and allow Amerigan citizens access to your respective nations. We await your replies with trepidation.
