The Federation Cruiser is a bulbous, red-and-blue ship, remenicient of the Mon Calamari cruisers from the Star Wars universe. They carry a wing of ZIG Fighters for defense, but other than that no weapons systems or shielding are known of. Please note that you are only paying for the cruiser, you must pay for the ZIG fighters separately.

The ZIG Space Superiority Fighter comes in three distinct classes: the Valcan-class ZIG, the Laser-class ZIG, and finally the Homing-class ZIG. Very little is known about these fighters, but it is known that the sub-classes are interchangable (you can take the components from a damaged Valcan-class and put them onto a Laser-class and it will operate as a Valcan-class) and that all three classes are equipped with a tractor beam.

Tier One Valcan-class ZIG

The T1 Valcan ZIG is the most basic ZIG fighter we sell. It comes with a single missile launcher pod and no shield-weapons (what I call the floating deals on the Tier Two+ versions). The missiles on a ZIG fighter are not missiles in the traditional sense, as a pilot never runs out of missiles on her ZIG. Instead, the missiles fired from a ZIG fighter are a form of energy similar to the turbolasers in Star Wars.

Tier Two Valcan-class ZIG

The T2 Valcan is similar to the T1 in that it fires very basic missiles, but the T2 has two shield-weapons that rest just above and just below the ZIG. They can move very close to the ZIG if space requires it, and have one missile pod each. The shield-weapons have nearly impenetrable shields that only surround themselves, but experienced ZIG fighters can move their fighter to the proper angles to absorb enemy fire. Since the shield-weapons are stationary above and below the ZIG except when in tight quarters, a ZIG pilot will have to be very in sync with her fighter to be able to effectively absorb fire. In a single salvo, the T2 Valcan will fire three missiles at its target.

Tier Three Valcan-class ZIG

The T3 Valcan is a vast improvement over the T1 and T2 models. It carries over the shield-weapons from the Tier Two, but includes extra missile pods on the shield-weapons. The T3 Valcan fires five missiles in a salvo, covering a somewhat loose cone in front of the ZIG. This makes the Valcan a prized "crowd control" patrol craft in some parts of the Sucellan Governance.

Tier Four Valcan-class ZIG

The T4 Valcan is the most advanced Valcan-class ZIG fighter sold. Still with two shield-weapons, the Tier Four fires off an impressive seven missiles in a salvo, at approximately two salvos per second and a half. The Tier Four Valcan is considered in Tannenmille to be the Riot Police fighter in space, due to the amount of damage that can be spread across an area quickly.

Tier One Laser-class ZIG

The T1 Laser is a basic fighter, same as the T1 Valcan. The blue lasers that lance from the Laser-class ZIGs are more powerful, however, than the small missiles that are fired by the Valcans. These lasers are concentrated and are specialized in assaulting a disabled or slow-moving target.

Tier Two Laser-class ZIG

The T2 Laser ZIG is a more advanced model of the T1 Laser. The shield-weapons first debuted in the T2 Vulcan are back, but this time equipped with laser cannons rather than the missile pods from the Valcan. However, ships can still easily dodge these lasers as they are straight beams and act as dumb fire missiles. An improvement, but still a basic and cheap fighter.

Tier Three Laser-class ZIG

A formidable fighter, the T3 Laser ZIG is prized by pirates, who enjoy its swiftness and powerful lasers that do great harm to their slow-moving transport prey. Featuring more powerful lasers than the T1 or T2 Laser-class, the Tannenmillian 7th Fleet will feature these ZIGs as anti-capital ship fighters, due to their excellence in combatting large targets.

The cream of the Laser-class crop, the Tier Four Laser ZIG is the most powerful anti-ship fighter currently offered by Tannenmillian Shipforge. With three very strong lasers, in properly trained hands a single T4 Laser-class ZIG can destroy a Carrack-class Imperial Cruiser.

Tier One Homing-class ZIG

Featured as a primary anti-fighter ZIG model, the T1 Homing ZIG is a cheap fighter that fires a large number of homing missiles from its launcher pods. Around fifteen homing missiles stream from the ZIG in a single burst when equipped with the Tier One Homing systems.

Tier Two Homing-class ZIG

As seen on the T2 Valcan- and Laser-class ZIGs, the shield-weapons return for the T2 Homing-class ZIG. Even with the extra firepower, the T2 Homing ZIG is still only able to fire 15 missiles in a salvo, but the reasoning is that the T2 missiles have much more powerful homing abilities than their T1 counterparts. These are favored by anti-pirate patrols around the Sucellan Governance for their ability to lock onto the swift pirate vessels and exterminate them with greater ease.

Tier Three Homing-class ZIG

The T3 Homing-class ZIG is the best balance between price and firepower. The T3 fires a steady line of homing missiles, more powerful than the T1 or T2 ZIGs but still not as powerful as the T4. This model is seen in two of the three packages available at this storefront because of its versatility in fighting.

Tier Four Homing-class ZIG

The best dogfighting ZIG sold by Tannenmillian Shipforge, the T4 Homing ZIG is capable of firing a nearly continuous stream of extremely powerful homing missiles. The T4 Homing-class ZIG fighter can fire its salvo for nearly two full minutes before it must recharge its reactors and dump the heat exhaust created from such prolonged firing. The Tier Four Homing ZIG is seen frequently near the Core Planets of the Triune Systems to ward off pirates and other unsavoury characters from attempting anything in their sphere of jurisdiction.

Final Notes on Interchangabilty:
Any ZIG hull can use any Tier of equipment. All hulls are capable of using all Tiers of equipment, but it is harder to install Tier Four equipment on what used to be a Tier One ZIG, due to the need to link up the shield-weapons to the ZIG's engines and weapons systems, as well as the advanced launch configurations. It can be done, but it will take longer than switching between two Tier One ships. Still, you cannot install Valcan-class equipment on a Homing-class ZIG hull, due to the vast differences in the firing mechanisms. In that light, we offer separate hulls and equipment:

Note that there is no canon information regarding this technology, all the speeds and classifications are made up by myself. Toaplan, the company that created Zero Wing, declared bankruptcy in 1994. The Zero Wing logo is copyright Toaplan, as is the imagery of the ZIG fighter and the ZIG pilot.
And yes, I know the selection is minimal but there's very little to choose from in Zero Wing, but I thought maybe some people would like a change from all the Star Wars / Trek / Babylon 5 / Warhammer 40K technology that's floating around in the FT universe.

I played a Zero Wing rom for about an hour to get all the images, so I know more about Zero Wing now than I could ever care to know. But I'm making almost all of this stuff up because the game is so linear and SNES-y. I'm still finishing up the packages and interchangability parts of the storefront, so I imagine I'll be done by the time Genius in France finishes twice again.

Well stone the crows it's hard getting customers for Zero Wing tech I guess.

I notice a lack of data on the missile varient of the Z3, is this intentional?

If by Z3 you mean T3 Valcan, then yes it is intentional. All four Tiers of Valcan ZIGs fire the same missiles, but the more advanced models fire faster and in a wider arc in front of the ZIG. Only the Laser- and Homing-class ZIGs fire more advanced weaponry from Tiers 3 onward.

I meant the homing. you have H2 in there twice.
the V-series Zigs are well described, as are the L-series.

but the Homing desription goes: T1,T2,T2,T4.

since you include the H3 in several of your packages, I think you should provide a little more data than that they exist.

(BTW: Gunstars are almost as bad, most everything out there is on the prototype Advanced Gunstar.

Goodness, thanks for noticing that. And I looked up the Gunstar but didn't get a terrible amount of information other than a Lego model of one, but the page that was on said the Gunstar was capable of taking out many enemies for each one Gunstar or something.

I like the Gunstar because it has one of the most logical cockpit designs of any movie ship.
The Death blossom is'nt good for RP, so I just use the standard model.
