Ryokoholm

KRISTIANSTAD – Today is a great day, as President Holden Skagerrak of Kristianstad and President Azumi Nakagawa of Ryoko have signed an agreement to unify their two nations, and make one nation that will progress to excellence. This nation has been named Ryokoholm, a name well liked by many on the streets of Kristianstad, the capital of the former nation of the same name, Kristianstad. The leaders of the two former nations have split what is now Ryokoholm into ten provinces, five of the former Kristianstad, five of Ryoko. They are:
Province – Provincial Capital – Major Provincial Cities
Trondheim – Trondheim – Trelleholm, Skansen Lake City
Riddarholmen – Stadsholmen – Hillenore, Slotsholmen
Tronderlag – Tromso – Hockenheim, Roskilde
Drammenholm – Finsebergen – Helsingtunder, Sandorhaven
Kristianstad – Kristianstad – Skagenholm, Gothenholmen
Shizuoka – Matsuyama – Takamatsu, Kumamoto
Toyama – Shinjuku – Miyanago, Yamagato
Saitama – Shinagawa – Meguro, Tsukiji
Yamanashi – Higashiyamoto – Mizuho, Hinode
Katsushima – Katsushima – Adahino, Shibuya
However, as the now unified nations look forward to the future, the leaders of both nations must fix the problems and conflicts marking the newly formed country today. They will not be the only ones making decisions on how the country will move forward though. In three weeks, the citizens of Ryokoholm will take to the polls and vote on many issues that will change the two lands dramatically. The two most important decisions at vote are:
GOVERNMENT – The leaders of both nations have released a plan on how they believe the government of Ryokoholm should run. If rejected by the citizens of Ryokoholm, the leaders will have to go back and fix/change the plan. If accepted, a month later there will be a vote for whom will be president, vice-president, who will be in the senate, NC, and also the provincial vote.
Plan – A president and a vice-president, whom would make all urgent decisions and serve as the head of the country, would lead the country. Both serve a term of four years, after which they may be re-elected, and they may each serve a maximum of 12 years as president of vice-president. They are followed by the Senate, which would include five senators from each province (five provinces of former Ryoko, five of former Kristianstad), and than a National Council (NC), which includes 1 council member from each province for every 100,000 citizens within the province. For example, if a province has 500,000 citizens, it has 5 council members within the NC. Both Senate and NC members have to be voted into office, and they both serve a term of 4 years, after which they may run for re-election. The Premiere Senator leads the Senate and the NC is led by the Premiere Council(wo)man, who both are voted into office and serve a term of 10 years, after which they may run for re-election.
Minor issues will be discussed and voted on in the National Council, and once 2/3 of the NC agrees on a resolution to the issue, the decision will be written into law/taken into action. If less than 2/3 agrees on the issue, it will be dismissed. Major issues will be discussed and voted on in the NC, and if passed with at least a ½ majority, it will move onto the senate, where they will discuss and vote. If the senate agrees on the issue by at least a 2/3 majority, the decision will be written into law/taken into action. All urgent decisions will either go straight to the president and vice-president, or directly to the senate.
Provinces will be led by a Provincial Governor, who serves a four year term and is voted into office by the citizens of the province he or she is running in. Followed by the Provincial Governor is the Provincial Council, which serves as both the NC and Senate of the Province. They make all minor and sometimes major decision facing the province, just as the NC and Senate do. The Provincial Council is made up of members from around the province, with five members from each urban area, and ten representing towns and villages between each urban area.
CAPITAL – Between now and the vote, cities looking to becoming the capital must bid to be the capital city as if they were bidding for the Olympics. However, they are bidding in front of the entire nation, whom will turn the six cities vying to be the capital into two. Those two cities will be inspected and than voted on by the current leaders of Ryokoholm, who are leaders from the former nations of Ryoko and Kristianstad. The nine cities bidding, in order of which is most likely to win, are:
Finsebergen, Drammenholm
Matsuyama, Shizuoka
Yamagato, Toyama
Kristianstad, Kristianstad
Hockenheim, Tronderlag
Katsushima, Katsushima
Hillenore, Riddarholmen
Hinode, Yamanashi
Roskilde, Tronderlag
Other things at vote are the establishment of an Embassy Exchange Program, the construction of a new international airport, and the establishment of a national sports program and tourism program.
The tourism program is expected to pass as Kristianstad once lured visitors from around the NS world because of its historical countryside, which is dotted by ancient Viking palaces, and castles while it’s mountains are the home of some of the finest ski resorts. It’s ultra-modern cities are beautiful, with vibrant culture and an excellent nightlife, these cities also include an old town, which all include several buildings dating back more than 500 years. Ryoko lured tourists with its excellent climate, exotic islands, rainforests, and villages, it’s large cities currently being remodeled to become sprawling metropolises, and it’s beautiful sand beaches. As of now, applications for passports and visa's have been issued to the people of Ryokoholm so that they may go in and out of the country into the neighborhing region of Greater Cladonia, while those whishing to leave the entire region and begin their lives anew will have to wait. Also, the tiny international airport outside of Kristianstad has been recently opened, however none of the flights have been international as only national and regional carriers have been flying in and out of the airport to national and regional destinations. Although the borders are open to international visitors, it is very hard to get into Ryokoholm as they must first get into a neighboring country in Greater Cladonia, and than fly into Kristianstad.
Results of the vote and other important information will be given here.
